    Great Job!!! I have never been successful with propagating a croton so I have not tried again. After watching this video, I feel I might try again.
    By the way, the color on the leaves are amazing!!!

    Good video! I think it is very likely the tip cutting will make a beautiful plant for you! The single leaf cuttings though might not give you another plant and will remain a single leaf. Unless you got a bit of stem tissue and an axillary bud when you pulled it off of the stem the cells are structured differently and the leaf will not "know" how to grow a stem. The rooted leaf may stay alive for a quite long time (maybe years) but might never produce a new plant.

    From what I understand croton leaves will root but not grow a new plant. I can't find a video update. Did the leaves ever create new growth?

    • @Danielle-nz9tn
      @Danielle-nz9tn ปีที่แล้ว +1

      She answered another commenter who asked the same question. She said that these new leaves she planted in this video died over the winter. But as we saw, the ones she did prior to that did grow roots. I have also seen other commenters stating that the leaves may root but biologically cannot grow a stem unless you somehow your leaf cutting happened to include a bit of stem material. I guess it could be fun to try to propagate loose leaves if you have them lying around anyway…Or you could just propagate pieces of stem in the first place if you want an actual plant!

    Very interesting!! The thing is… the leaves that root will probably just be “ghost leaves” They will stay well and root but not grow a new plant for many years if ever.

    I’m wondering if you can give us an update on the two leaves because I don’t believe they can produce a plant. They will just stay to leaves. You need part of the stem to propagate a whole plant.

  • @inew3365

    • @danaus5788

      The leaves root and that’s all. It’s the same as Hoya. They never produce a new plant and eventually die of old age. Leaf propagation works with begonia, peperomia and some gesneriaceae.

    My leaves are falling. I have it in a bathroom window that gets a lot of morning sun and I water it about once a week. What could I be doing wrong? I live in Michigan so, it's getting too cool to sit it outside.

    • @greenmable475

      I would inspect the plant closely for spider mites and webs. Crotons like humidity as well. Are leaves falling from the top, bottom, or all over? I have another video all on croton care if you’d like to take a look.
