    This makes so much sense that I’d have never thought of it. I certainly would have made this into a whole project. Thank you!!

    Advice such as types of mortor, bonding agents, waterproofing ideas or techniques, ways to prevent cracking for long life on the repair? I will be repairing a hole in my foundation.

      Hey Di kz Mixed with water for the bonding agent.
      Paint the inside of the hole with the bonding agent first.
      Ordinary mortar mixed with bonding agent for filling the hole and making the home made bricks.
      Joint compound for the top coat to get the desired stippling effect.
      Then mortar paint.
      Not much can be done about cracking as shrinking can occur.
      But if you let each stage of cementing dry properly before the next stage shrinkage should be minimal.
      So far after 2 years the hole I filled has had no shrinkage at all.
      Regards H

      I would add this is a chimney hole.
      For a foundation hole I would use real bricks if ifs a large hole.

    What was in the spray bottle?

    Should have use your hands with a pair of gloves to get better coverage. The trowel should be used for the final finishing.

      @@rickpotts348 All advice welcome. But I don’t agree with you about using a trowel for the final finish.

    Or you could have bought a cap and then use mud to fill around the hole

    What kind of cement or mortar used in here please 🙏. Chimney guy wants $400 to patch it😮

    • @onceuponawall-harryanstice2529
      @onceuponawall-harryanstice2529  8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello. I just used ordinary mortar mix.
      I presume by the $ sign the you are in the US or Canada so it might be something different there to here in Europe.
      I used an ordinary rough cement that I had to mix rather than ready mixed cement.
      So my best advice would be to take a photo of the hole and show it to the person in the hardware store and they will recommend the best cement for you.

    Hmmmmm.....I did not see what in earth you were doing with the "piping bag" nor understand the function of it.....🤔

    • @onceuponawall-harryanstice2529
      @onceuponawall-harryanstice2529  9 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Hello the function of the piping bag was to apply the cement to the areas that I couldn’t reach with my trowel as it was a small rather deep hole.
      It was just an idea that came to me whilst doing the video.
      I am sorry that I couldn’t get the angle right with the camera so that you could see what I was doing.
      I didn’t have a cameraman or woman to film me this time, so had to balance the camera on a ladder.
      I will take that into account next time.
      Regards H
