kraken was only good for farming items to sell, the best way to level up is either winterbane if your willing to find people to farm with, or just kill everything in haunted cave, if you havent unlocked other parts of the first world

I have so much to say about this game. I remember playing it with my friends for the first time. Spending all of my time defeating pumpkin monster thingies. Racing with my friend on who will do better in the pet game. And trying my best to level up my pet unicorn thinking it was going to become a mount if I did so. So much time spent, but got bored of it after a few months without membership. You would think it would end there but no. A few months after we decide to come back to this game, and we discover there is now a Turkish server(we are Turkish). Excited, me and my 2 friends download it. And to our surprise, it was free. Every. Single. World until Celestia was free. We were shocked and addicted. It was really populated, free, chat was open except swear words and we had soooo much fun. We made a lot of friends there. We would do quests together, play hide and seek in their houses, and we even had boyfriends and we would do couple's pvps. I still can't remember having a better experience in an mmo game than Wizard101. But one day, they announced the Turkish server was closing. Like I said before, it was really populated so we couldn't understand why that was happening. The team said they can't tell why and we still don't know to this day. I remember all zones were free for the last days of the game. My other 2 friends were playing the game with their in-game friends for the last time and saying their goodbyes.(we didn't have social media since we were 9-10 years old.) But I was unable to do so because our internet was gone. I remember puting my pc on top of the clotheshores in the balcony so I would be able to connect to my neighbor's internet. It took ages to open the game but it did. Unfortunately, it was so late at night and it was the very last day, so nobody was online. I didn't even have a chance to say goodbye to everyone. Fast forward to 6 years later, the exact same 2 friends of mine and I bought 1 month membership and played the game everyday together. So yeah we sometimes buy it when we have enough money. Like the time we worked at McDonalds or now that The Feast of Ramadan is coming, we will be able to get some money from relatives and will definitely buy membership. I can never get disattached from this game.
I once met this poor kid in the haunted cave that was free to play but on level 18. He was a fire wizard and I wanted to buy him membership so bad but at the time that wasnt a thing. I hope he still plays and has membership by now, because he honestly deserves it.

One of the saddest things in the world is really just how Wizard 101 could've had the potential to be so much more because it's such a great game, but these microtransactions are killing it. Take a note from Star Wars Battlefront II.
These microtransactions are definitely not killing it. They're what's keeping it afloat. The player base is absolutely miniscule. The whales are who pay for development of new worlds.

Haunted Cave rotting fodders for me. I wanted to get to lvl 15 so I could buy the Red Barn Farm and start gardening. Then I thought 'What the hey it's just another level to get the next school spell.' so I grinded to level 16. Then it's another thing and another thing until level 20 to get the 1-pip wands. Then I thought 'Dammit I'll just get a membership!'. The game sucked me in big time.

I recommend just doing trivia, every one trivia quiz you do on the Kingsisle website 50 (or something like that) crowns to your account. Then if you have enough you can buy areas. But it is extremely time consuming and annoying and the worst thing is is that you can only do 10 quizzes a day
You can play the entire game for free, 1. Find accursed gauntlet 2. Farm for pigsies and sell them for empowers (mostly discord servers) 3. When you have enough empowers you can buy crowns or prepaid memberships (from discord servers)
Back when I was younger, firecat alley was as far as you could go. I was stuck on one specific quest involving that street for literal YEARS and just never gave up for whatever reason

I got to level 20 by grinding FIeld Guards at Haunted Cave because my parents wouldn't buy me the membership, and I wasted a lot of time with the trivia for the free crowns and I unlocked Cyclops Lane, but I got bored of doing the same 120 questions every day for only 100 crowns. I had hopes for Grizzleheim to be free, but it wasn't, so I gave up and asked my parents one last time and they are buying me the membership and couldn't be more excited about it!

I like to log onto Pirate 101 on occasion (read every few months) and to be honest... I used to be able to get to like.. level 20 before I hit the first pay wall... good luck getting level 10 last time I checked. you can't even make it past the "last supper" without paying.

Haunted Cave rotting fodders for me. I wanted to get to lvl 15 so I could buy the Red Barn Farm and start gardening. Then I thought 'What the hey it's just another level to get the next school spell.' so I grinded to level 16.
Then it's another thing and another thing until level 20 to get the 1-pip wands. Then I thought 'Dammit I'll just get a membership!'. The game sucked me in big time.

I got to lvl 31 back in 2014 with no membership, only hours on top of hours of grinding. Just got back into the game recently with a membership and I’m lvl 20 in only a day and a half. Leveling without a membership is a HUGE waste of time.
Haven’t played Wizard101 in years, this video just popped up in my recommended and god do I miss this game. Having sleepovers with 3 of my friends and staying up until 4 A.M. and drinking soda while playing Wizard101. Now all of my old friends play fortnite and I play Destiny 2, I wish I could just go back to playing Minecraft and Wizard101, 6 years ago. Damn, this even hurts me to type.
I so wish that this game was just a one time payment, make it like any other game and let you pay fucking $60 then never pay for anything ever again except maybe cosmetics.

I feel like people would be more inclined to buy membership if they gave us more than 5 hours of gameplay in the “base game”
I recommend just doing trivia, every one trivia quiz you do on the Kingsisle website 50 (or something like that) crowns to your account. Then if you have enough you can buy areas. But it is extremely time consuming and annoying and the worst thing is is that you can only do 10 quizzes a day
You can play the entire game for free, 1. Find accursed gauntlet 2. Farm for pigsies and sell them for empowers (mostly discord servers) 3. When you have enough empowers you can buy crowns or prepaid memberships (from discord servers)

all of wizard city and krok should be F2P also grizleheim because there still are so many worlds and it’s not like they don’t already make enough from people spending there money on over priced crown items. there is literally no reason to make 99% of your game a pay wall. if you want to have every area unlocked it’s essentially over $200 and that’s insane to have to pay 200 for a game

I'm a simple man.
I got to level 20 by grinding FIeld Guards at Haunted Cave because my parents wouldn't buy me the membership, and I wasted a lot of time with the trivia for the free crowns and I unlocked Cyclops Lane, but I got bored of doing the same 120 questions every day for only 100 crowns. I had hopes for Grizzleheim to be free, but it wasn't, so I gave up and asked my parents one last time and they are buying me the membership and couldn't be more excited about it!

Remember when I did all the the quests I could then just had fun farming the kraken and pvp........ simple times.....
What I learned was don't advertise your game as Free to Play and then slap paywalls in the game.
They should add a function to be able to convert the gold or whatever it is into crowns. Like being able convert 100k gold into 100 crowns
