I have to say that I was not truly content until I retired. Now my wife and I do what we want when we want. I am really content sitting on the porch drinking coffee with my wife. We're not rich, but we have what we need. God is great life is good.

Very sorry for your loss. We lost Mom January 2022 just a month shy of Mom and Dad's 60th anniversary. It certainly left a hole in my heart and even harder on Dad. But what a blessing to have had that special person all those years. I pray the Lord gives you peace.

A friend of mine shared the Burnsville video on FB tonight, and I watched that, then came over to watch this one, because I've camped there, and actually used to own a house 1/2 mile from there. What a timely message about contentment. I was praying last night, for contentment. Every few years, I get the itch to move, and I'm going through that right now. I don't really want to go through another move, but I've lost my contentment. Your message was very timely. Thanks for sharing your faith.
I love your fireside chat. Much wisdom. Pray for me, I have sciatica in my left hip and leg. 2 years ago this month, July, I had a right hip replacement (my first surgery, scared to death). The physical therapist didn’t do a good job with rehab. My legs are weak. Pray 🙏🏻 for God to heal the sciatica in my left leg and both legs will get strong like they use to be. Glad you got to see our mountain the campground got washed out in a big flood May years ago and rebuilt it back up. That was May moons ago.Thank you for my memories of North Caroline
My Grandfather McCurry was born and raised in a place called “Bee Log” in Yancey County. There is another little community called “Little Egypt” near there on the Caine River. This is a location surrounded by the mountains where there are places where the sun doesn’t shine!
I like plain ol toasted marshmallows. I also have these sandwich makers that you stick in the fire.. usually do pizza toppings or ham and cheese in them.

I have always felt there are many levels of happiness but only one level of contentment ....as we all get older we do realize that "the best things in life...are not things at all"
Thanks so much for making this video i am disabled now and all alone but I sure remember the Childhood memories of my precious daddy a pulling here with our 75 30 foot prowler in tow. I only live about 30 mins away but back them working a 60+ week daddy considered this a MINI Vacation while I rode my Bike and ran wild LOL
When I see what people are paying for things now days, I am very well content. I’m going on 60, and God has blessed me throughout life. We have got our 2 story home that we bought back when the housing market crashed, asking for a little over $100 K then, now valued well over $200 K, and our mortgage is less than $800 a month. People now are paying almost triple that! I have a 2005 Dodge Caravan that we bought back when the kids were home. Paid for, still running good, I can work on it, and will drive it till the motor or Transmission is beyond repair. I use it now to work out of, haul things, big loads, and use it every day. One less vehicle payment. Our kids are adults, all 5, been through college/have their own families, have 2 Grandchildren and 1 on the way in 2 months. I feel sorry for the younger generation and how much they have to pay for things. Contentment and Gods blessings go a long way! Groceries now run over $200 a week, unbelievable for what your getting. We have always loved primitive camping, as well as traveling. Love watching your videos, and love these fireside chats, and definitely contentment is a good subject, as well as saves so much money. Life is short, and trust me, no knows how much of it they have left. I have had quite a few friends that I’ve grew up with never make it to 50. 😞 Have one good friend that had to have the best of the best, way in debt, could afford it with working his rear off, but now has cancer, and not very long left. 😞 He regrets it now. Being content with such ye have in The Bible, is a very wise decision and choice, especially in the golden years, when these bodies have some wear and tear on them. I thank God for everything He has allowed us to have, do, and experience, and plead Christ blood on it every day, multiple times a day, and ask Him to protect it, bless it. He has! Always keep your feet on The Solid Rock, when your reaching for things. He will give it to you, if it’s meant to be. The Good Lord giveth, and The Good Lord taketh away. Contentment 🙏 🕊️

Big T, Karen and Mike. I enjoyed the time spent with you camping and just looking at God's glorious creation and being content in knowing that all things were made by him for him to love for all eternity. As you traveled down the country roads through the mountains set as backdrops in the distance, I give all praise to God and to be content with his plans for us. As for the dessert after supper, we never really had that at hand. When we camped, it was very primitive camping. We were young and in love and food was not our thought for the day. If we did eat though, maybe peanut butter and grape jelly sandwiches or we'd stop along the roads at a country store as we headed to our site to pick up some soft drinks, ice for the cooler, moon pies, tootsie pops, a pack of hotdogs and buns. Though, as Mike mentioned, we are not always content some days, weeks or months that we seem not be be able to change to our liking. I do know that God's love for each of us can never be broken or lost unless we turn back from him. The Holy Spirit helps to quiet our spirit if we are broken or crying beyond things we think are too hard for us to bare. Content, that God loved us before the worlds were ever formed, he loved us. that's contentment. Take care and may God bless and keep you all your days. All My Love,

Please keep my family in prayer, as we are preparing to say goodbye to a very sweet, close, and young cousin (Randy). He was placed in Hospice a few days ago. He just turned 73 last month. He was diagnosed with cancer about 2 years ago. He is ready to meet Jesus. Thank y’all so much for the fellowship. God Bless.

Pie Iron pies for dessert
Hey that's in my neck of the woods.. I have stayed at the campground before with my family for a weekend.. It is a great place for family camping in the beautiful South Toe Valley of Yancey County.. The campground has been hit with flooding a few times and those sites you stayed at are newer sites that were rebuilt. There use to be a lot more trees and shrubs around the sites. Those were always packed when we went. Did you guys ride up to the Blue Ridge Parkway and checkout Mt. Mitchell on your trip? You should checkout some of the other campgrounds in the area like Carolina Hemlocks or Black Mountain Campground which are all about 15-20 mins away from Toe River Campground. This area is known for great views and hiking trails.. The whole Black Mountain Range and the South Toe River is beautiful. Maybe someday I will run into you somewhere as I travel both western NC and eastern TN all the time chasing trains.. 🙂👍
Our favorite dessert is taking a camping pie iron and making pies. You heat up your pie iron in the fire. You put a piece of buttered bread in one side, put a pie filling in the middle, then another piece of buttered bread. Close it and put it back in the fire until the bread is toasted.

My love Jennifer served 20 years in the Navy and yes she was born in Honk Kong..
My mother died within 12 days after both were buried in military grave yard mother in Andersonville, Georgia and my Jennifer buried in Canton, Georgia ,,on the same day, unfortunately I couldn’t attend both
I was watching an older vid when you went through Roaring Fork Motor trail. We’re you aware that you can hike behind the Ogles’s cabin? It’s a beautiful hike and relaxing. A lot of history on the hike. Just thought I’d share a little info with you if you weren’t aware of the area behind Ogles cabin. It’s an easy hike. Love all you vids and the both of you. Your journeys are great and very informative.☮️❤️

I've asked for prayers before and would appreciate your continued prayers as I go through treatment for prostate cancer. We have a Class C that we enjoy, but my treatments have kept us grounded for the last year and a half. Glad you got your Solo burning right! I have a big Solo and love it. Keep up your good works and hopefully we'll run into you somewhere in the Smokies. That's our happy place and we go there as often as we can.

Wish you would include camping prices. Some campgrounds are very affordable, others are more expensive than a fancy resort!
What a relaxing video, loved it. Actually up the mountain a ways the Toe River is one of the better trout streams in North Carolina.. There is a pretty federal campground up there too.

What is the name of your woodburner & where did you get it? Do you use a special kind of wood chips?
We have a link in the description of our video to amazon for it. Solo Mesa is the name of it. You can burn wood or pellets in it. Solo sells both but you can find cheaper at other places.
Most there just barely get by each month we simple folks
