if anyone is curious (as i was) following the conversation at the end, ella finished with a strong 5th place at throw pink, only 4 strokes off the lead. so her confidence was very well-founded!
i really think she finally gets her first pro tour/major win of her career this season!

Brian deserves an Emmy for this. Hands down one of the best sports interview shows ever. Granted, he's had a lot of amazing guests so far.

Yes, as a person in a similar life-state, I'd like to emphasize to the audience that there are *soooo* many ultimate players that play DG now since the onset of the pandemic. And it is good, so good. For everyone, I hope! In the end we are all trying to new, difficult things every day with the disc...

People believe that Ultimate players have an headstart in playing Disc Golf. Yes, we Ultimate players understand the flight of the disc, read the wind, know how to make certain shots, and have generally good touch, but Ella is so dead on about how differently we think about (backhand) throwing mechanics and release angle. Ella is lucky to make the transition at a relatively young age, where her brain is still flexible because it’s harder when you have more years of ingrained throwing memory. But I’m happy to still be throwing frisbies!
@@joeblow2426 couldn’t agree more! I’ve been disc golfing for going on 6 years consistently now, competing for only the last two and I still release most my drives on hyzer. Yet I played ultimate from age 12-23. Old habits are hard to break.
Brian casually shredding freestyle moves, including a deceptively difficult chest roll catch, all while maintaining the fantastic banter with Ella.

Just a small reminder to everyone that the good old (1991!) Innova Condor (241mm in diameter) is the only big diameter golf disc with the profile of a midrange disc. Legal up to 200 grams, and available in Blizzard Champion at weights down to 134 grams.... This is the greatest disc to transition from Ultimate to disc golf. BY FAR!
Also: 134g Blizzard Condor is the greatest disc golf Throw and Catch disc of all time.
Brian, this is a great show, just playing catch, a much more meaningful conversation, the connection is so good, this is one of the best shows about DG players.

I can relate to her knowing her dad would have loved to play the sport. One of the most athletic things he could go was throw a good Wham-o! I bet he would try to play with it
As an ultimate player and disc golfer her comment on throwing flex forehands is so true. I do the same. I would almost call it a high release forehand in Ultimate. Only way to keep that nose down. 😂

The holes are to steam the bun, not to not flip them!
I cant throw thise damn ultimate discs. They just turn, burn and roll in about 30ft. Only way i can throw it is with a putting motion. I never threw frisbees so the only things ive thrown are footballs and discs, always trying to get crazy spin. I dont understand how you forehand it either, its so damn big its hard to hold with a couple fingers. Its hard to delete all of the stuff ive engrained into my mind to spin the disc with torque and momentum. I can get a little flight if i throw it basically on this ⬇️ kind of angle.

I had a couple not so positive run ins with Ella in 2023. Once at USWDGC and another time at USDGC/Throw Pink. Maybe she wasnt having a good morning those days, but sadly it made my opinion of her change a little bit.

Love the series, but waaay too many cameramen on this one. I prefer the intimate nature of the Gannon episode. This one feels claustrophobic.

I really enjoy this series but in today's video I couldn't get past the number of times Brian said "like". Too many to count. I promise you will sound more professional without the use of "like". My student's once counted the number of times I used like, I was embarrassed.
"I used to throw a disc and run around, but now I just throw the disc." Wow, what a journey.
Like, like, like, like, like, like, like….. I truly think something happened to a generation where they use the word “Like “ every other word cause they never got taught standard English. Like I can’t stand it, like you know like what I mean..
