kayla's honest talk about her anxiety and easily getting anxious from fiction was kind of refreshing. i also have pretty high anxiety and it really is nice to know i'm not alone c:
historically in england towers in castles usually have spiral staircases inside towers that go clockwise when going up - as they were usually quite narrow and the offending swordsmen attacking the castle would have a hard time swinging a sword in the space (as there is often a pillar of some sort in the middle of the tower which would block his sword). in contrast, the swordsmen defending the castle would have been able to use their left hand to hold the pillar for stability while swinging the sword with their right hand whilst going down the staircase
nice Q!! my top 3 Barbie movies are: - Princess and the Pauper (Preminger's an icon) - Swan Lake (I love the actual ballet) - Princess Charm School (a surprisingly dark plot and an awesome song I still have on my playlist till this day)
Dude mine are the same three! But for Swan Lake I watched it a bunch as a kid because I had an unhealthy love for Odile. (Yes, the evil dude’s daughter.) What can I say, I’ve always liked villainous women lol
at 8:58 Kayla was so real for that!! I too also take on too much from the things I read, watch, and listen it's great cause it means we have creative minds but it's also draining it's why I also prefer not reading too upsetting things (I'll still do it, but not as often)
Oh yeah same. 6 months ago I tried starting House of the Leaves, it's really really scary and weirdly written which i usually enjoy, but this one was toooo much I literally haven't opened it in weeks
Samee likeno one ever understands why i'd rather watch sims videos from her rather than a movie. I'm already wayy too overwhelmed, i can't handle the stress anymore! (I read the hunger games and it traumatised me, especially the ballad. I loved it but never ever again. Same with Arcane!)
I used to get banned from consuming specific media as a child because, as my parents always put it, "It gave you nightmares." I think my autism saves me from taking on anxiety from books, because it's a lot less scary when you have to imagine the feelings and you have "doesn't identify or experience feelings normally" disorder. Plus, a monster in a book can only be as scary as you can picture in your head, it's actually only words in real life. Scooby Doo monsters used to really scare me as a child. For some reason that one never got banned at my house.
My favorite is Barbie and Diamond Castle because it ended up being way more queer than they probably intended it to be (the two girls literally ride away from the guys who seem like they might be the intended love interests on a rainbow and that’s not even the most queer part of the movie) and that makes my sapphic heart so happy
Their dresses at the end are basicly the BI and the lesbian flags And also when in the end they ditch the guys to go back to live in their cottage to grow flowers. Like......💅💅💅
i have generalized anxiety disorder, among other anxious-based diagnoses, and I LOSE MY MIND everytime i watch or even think about Finding Nemo. something about losing such a small fish in this gigantic body of water messes me up for DAYS. so yeah. i feel you simsie. ❤
Do NOT go anywhere near Watership Down. It traumatized me as a kid and I still refuse to watch it. (I saw the movie, which used to be shown for Easter, which is even more messed up, but it’s based on a book.)
I'm so glad I'm not the only person who gets super anxious over fiction thriller/horror 😭 I've always had such bad anxiety, so it makes me feel less alone when people talk about their experiences 🥺
I can’t handle shows books or movies but I love a good psychological horror game, my theory is that if I have control over what happens I am less likely to to freak out
@@squelchymoss well I typically play story games, the kind where you have to click to continue the action so that I am in complete control, such as Slay the Princess
That one will always be one of my favorites!! I just love the art and the music. Recently rewatched it, and the animation is laughably bad, but I still love it!
barbie and the twelve dancing princesses was my favorite as a kid! i have a much older sister so the bond between barbie‘s character and the youngest girls was really exciting for me, and of course i loved the music and dancing. i also remember really liking swan lake, princess and the pauper, and of course fairietopia because i was a rainbow glitter girlie through and through.
princess and the pauper all the way! also, maybe Kayla, you should try reading some cosy fantasy books, one of my favourite's is legend and lattes by Travis Baldree, where an orc is opening a coffee shop. that's it. that's the plot. but it's so much fun!
Simsie, I felt like you were extremely vulnerable in this video in a way that’s very relatable and honestly made me appreciate your content so much more. It’s one thing sharing that you have anxiety, but sharing your personal issues around being scared when your grandmother got sick and at simple plot lines in movies that aren’t meant to be stressful….honestly it really made a few things about myself click for me that I hadn’t considered. 1. I didn’t realize how numb I’d become to the idea of death in my family (from experiencing it), and your reaction was much more normal and healthy I would argue. 2. That the reason I have trouble with simple plot lines in tv/shows is also because of Anxiety. I never really understood it because I would binge a show, get to an anxious place, and then actively avoid that show until I could handle it 😅. I just want to say that I really appreciate you being vulnerable in this way with us. ❤ It’s never selfish to not share these personal things, but when you do they can have a huge impact. Thank you.
Omg I feel you so hard on the book/film issue! I'm okay with scary things, just not bad decisions, lies, etc. I couldn't finish watching Suits because I was constantly stressed about the secrets and lies in the show. I don't understand why I react this way but I'm glad I'm not the only one!
Omg we had Barbie in the Swan Lake taped onto our VCR when I was little (2000 babyyyy) and now I am obsessed with that film and honestly just the ballet as a whole? Like. It was and is so so good. The music, the plot, the whole gosh darn lot. We stan
Kayla, I’ve been watching you for years. As someone with anxiety as well, it’s been so nice watching your confidence grow. You can tell that you’re so much more comfortable being outgoing and silly, and even sharing stuff about yourself. Will be praying for your grandmother ❤️

lmao, right?? growing up is realizing Tikka is stuff from nightmares- literally and figuratively also, I still know all the songs 🙈 I even have one of them in my playlist too (i need to know)
I’d love a build using all of the furniture related to princess Cordelia, probably on that one Cottage Living lot she used to live on (tho it might be too small idk). It’d have to be big enough to house all of her pirate boyfriends and her butler.
My childhood 🥹 the classic Barbie movies have my heart My college roommates and I have been rewatching all of them and ranking them - currently Princess and the Pauper is number one, followed by 12 Dancing Princesses. My personal favorite has always been diamond castled but I love those other two as well, and the enemies to lovers banter in Magic of Pegasus is so good
Oh god I've read the entire AGGGTM series (my favourite book series of all time) and that type of book is completely my thing but I can understand that it's not everyone's cup of tea. But knowing how it makes you feel and knowing what is in the 3rd book. My goodness simsie you're brave for finishing it to the end! Props to ya ❤
Barbie in the Nutcracker birthed my absolute love of ballet and 20 year long dance journey. Swan Lake was also good, but Nutcracker was my favorite. Princess and the Pauper was my second favorite. I had the Barbies.
The castle kit getting lilsimsie to care about castles kinda reminds me of dudes watching the gladiator movie and suddenly becoming obsessed with ancient rome lol
when u mentioned this was inspired by the barbie castles, my childhood heart was so happy. i’m 21 (gahahaha) and not too long ago i just recently rewatched my childhood barbie movies (i found an ig post saying that it’s been uploaded in yt iykyk) and my favorites are: - princess charm school!!!! - barbie and the magic of pegasus - barbie: a fashion fairytale the nutcracker movie was so good as well but i havent rewatched it yet but def going to do so soon!!! (love all your builds queen! all the best to your grandma’s recovery🤍🤍🤍)
barbie in the nutcracker, swan lake, and princess & the pauper. i was born in the first week of 2000 and the classic barbie movies shaped my entire being - my friends and i still watch mermadia every summer and rapunzel is the source of so many inside jokes 😂
me and my little sister would always watch barbie and the 12 dancing princess on the way to my grandparents’ house so i’d have to go with that one for the nostalgia factor

The thumbnail makes me think of the Beast's castle at the end of the movie when Belle lifts the curse in the original animated movie! 😊❤ 10:41 OMG GO FIGURE IS MY FAVORITE DCOM EVERRR AND I'M 30! 😂😅❤
My top 3 favourite barbie movies are: 1. Princess and the pauper (I know all the songs off by heart) 2. 12 dancing Princess (I love the dancing) 3. Fairytopia, the rainbow magic one (plus bibble is my baby)
I was and still am obsessed with Barbie and The Twelve Dancing Princesses. I am loving watching them all again with my daughter. But that one is by far my fave
Thank you for your openness and honesty about the anxiety you get from tense/dark fiction, I also can't really watch horror movies bc I'll be thinking about it for days afterwards 😭 sometimes I feel like a wuss because of it but it's nice to know I'm not alone 💜 My fave Barbie films are the Magic of the Pegasus, the Nutcracker, and the 12 Dancing Princesses which we had on DVD 😁 Also I love the build - especially the courtyard space and all the landscaping! 🌷
Kayla, please, don't apologise for missing uploads because you're having life issues. Take your time to recover and rejuvenate. We'll still be here, okay?
I’ve never felt so understood. I’m super uncultured because I’m always scared of books and movies with even the tiniest sad parts because I get so anxious reading/watching them!!!
my fav barbie movies have got to be barbie and the magic of pegasus, barbie swan lake, and barbie in a fashion fairytale. but barbie princess and the pauper and barbie charm school get honourable mentions as well💕
I love this build! I had sooo many Barbie movies on dvd when I was a kid. I kept a few of them because they were my favorites and I still watch them from time to time. My #1 favorite usually depends on the day lol but it's always between the 4 I still have: The Princess and the Pauper, Swan Lake, Rapunzel, and The Magic of Pegasus. I will add that The Nutcracker, The 12 Dancing Princesses, and all 3 of the Fairytopia movies were always close seconds.
This is so cute!! Honestly zero shame if you need a break. Even just to play sims for fun without recording. Thats a stressful week! But happy sweet 16 to Snap!! Also, i recommend A Psalm for the Wild Built by Becky Chambers. Its a very calm book thats like my comfort story. Its weird scifi, but there's something peaceful about it.
As someone who loves to build castles (in terraria which is basically like 2D minecraft) I can relate hard on the internal argument with the practicality of building servant's quarters. Cause in terraria it just takes up so much space and the crafting stations I can put in there are so specific and it kinda breaks the oppulence immersion cause there's a stark difference between the servants quarters and the guest wing for the nobles but also it's kinda fun making it semi accurate?? (My latest one has a dungeon amd interrogation room lmao) Anyway I'm really happy to see you enjoy castle building💕
I really felt you with the whole getting agitated over plots thing. That still gets me sometimes, even though my general anxiety got a lot better lately. I don't know if it's a thing that would help most people, but relaxing music is what really works on me. Hope everything ended up okay!
I love the whole lore behind the barbie movies. Especially in the first movies it's clear that barbie is just an actress, retelling these stories. When u watch all these movies u can see other "actors" reappearing in different movies as well. Other movies talk about her own life, like when she and her sisters are on vacation at her aunts ranch. In dream house it's talked about her acting career as well.. I could go on, but yk lol
I never considered that anxiety would be a reason I disliked Horror/Suspense stuff, because when you were talking about the "Good Girl's Guide to Murder" and how you felt, I 100% that I related to it. But it makes total sense. Listening to you talk about that and knowing yourself helped me to recognize something about myself! I'm glad to hear things are going better for your Grandma. Love the castle!
On the topic of barbie movies; my favorites were the Island Princess and Diamond Castle movies, i loved that island princess had a big cast of animals and the sparkly blue of barbie’s dress became my very specific favorite color for years. Diamond castle was the one my sister and i watched the most often, looking back at it it is… incredibly sapphic. Barbie and her best friend live in a cottage together selling flowers, they find two heart-shaped diamonds that they make into heart necklaces, and they don’t end up with the twin ken love interests at the end they just ride a carriage across a rainbow back to their cottage
My favorite Barbie movies where defenitly "The Barbie Diaries" I watched that like every two weeks. And also "The Princess And The Pauper". Fond memories of both of them, I even think I still own them. 💕
‚Realistically‘ you could use most of the towers for storage and closets. For example in the entrance, it would make perfect sense to have a coat closet in one of the towers. Of course sims don’t really need those things, but I love including closets for realism 😊
I watched The Princess and the Pauper and The 12 Dancing Princesses so much and loved them so much but Diamond Castle comes out just a little on top I think. But nothing beats the Princess and the Pauper soundtrack, its so iconic.
My favorite Barbie movie is Barbie: A Mermaid Tale. I watched that movie so many times and it's so much fun. It's less cringy than the older movies and has better animations.
This build is actually so good for me, I'm doing a Barbie legacy challenge and was running out of good ideas for pinkish houses. My next gen is MOVING in!!!
Barbie in the Nutcracker is also my favorite. It was the first and last barbie movie that i had on VHS. The voice actor for the Nutcracker/Prince Eric, and also the voice actor for Barbie for many of the movies made in the 2000s, also voice acted for the English dub of my favorite anime!
Barbie The Princess & The Pauper, and Barbie Swan Lake!! ❤❤ two of my absolute favorites! I also loved the fairytopia ones! EVERY barbie movie is incredible though. I turned 28 in April (born 1996) and grew up with the thin hardcover barbie books and the movies!
You talking about your anxiety and taking on feelings from the media you consume is so real. 😅 It’s so relatable. This is a beautiful build though. It sucks you had such a rough week but I hope you’re taking time for yourself. ❤ also, Barbie and the Nutcracker is my fave too! You get it 😂
Kayla: I don't know how many of you have seen the Barbie Movies. I assume a lot of you have. Me: 😶🤔🧐 Kayla: I was born in 1999 and remember VHS. I'm aging myself. Kayla: I'm 24 and I know a lot of you are younger. Me, a 42 year old man: 💀
I loved agggtm but I also remember feeling that way as well! I listened to it while walking my dog, and I would be jumpy just walking around my neighborhood!
Barbie in The Island Princess is my absolute favourite barbie movie EVER! I hate Tikka (the elephant), but I absolutely adore Sagi and Azul and Ro's dresses!! The songs are so comforting too
The Barbie Rapunzel is by far my favorite, I still enjoy it so much to this day and I get chills when I hear the soundtrack. I also used to love Swan Lake, and I discovered The Princess and the Pauper when I grew up!
Simsie I remember learning that the more empathetic you are, the harder it is for you to enjoy horror and stuff. It was from a video essay about why we enjoy horror and I don’t necessarily know if it’s true but considering that you do have very high empathy I would say it checks out.
I haven't seen many Barbie movies to be honest but my favorite is Barbie the princess and the popstar!!! It's very fun and all the music is so good LOL
Fun fact! Go Figure was filmed by where I lived and so I was an extra in a few of the hockey game scenes! I was 13 at the time and had a MAJOR crush on Jake Abel (who played the love interest) 😂
kayla's honest talk about her anxiety and easily getting anxious from fiction was kind of refreshing. i also have pretty high anxiety and it really is nice to know i'm not alone c:

The thumbnail makes me think of the Beast's castle at the end of the movie when Belle lifts the curse in the original animated movie! 😊❤ 10:41 OMG GO FIGURE IS MY FAVORITE DCOM EVERRR AND I'M 30! 😂😅❤
I loveeee the Barbie movies I have all of them on DVD and my favourite is either swan lake or charm school
My top 3 favourite barbie movies are:
1. Princess and the pauper (I know all the songs off by heart)
2. 12 dancing Princess (I love the dancing)
3. Fairytopia, the rainbow magic one (plus bibble is my baby)
Oh wow 😮 lol this is such good inspiration for my royal family sims legacy!!
9:07 omg I LOVE THIS SERIES 💓 The last book was craaazy my head was a mess after this😂
This is so cute!!
I loved the Nutcracker Barbie film too! To this day the nutcracker music makes me feel so magical and excited for Christmas!!
Barbie and the Diamond Castle is far and away my personal favorite Barbie movie! The music is beautiful and I think the story is so wonderful!
my favorite is barbie magic of the pegasus closely followed by princess and the pauper
(My latest one has a dungeon amd interrogation room lmao)
Anyway I'm really happy to see you enjoy castle building💕
Got off work and put on lilsimsie💗💗 Always is a good down time
I really felt you with the whole getting agitated over plots thing. That still gets me sometimes, even though my general anxiety got a lot better lately. I don't know if it's a thing that would help most people, but relaxing music is what really works on me. Hope everything ended up okay!
no way i’m so early for the first time!! so excited for this build ❤
I absolutely love Barbie and the pauper! It is funny has great side kicks and the music is great! 🥰
I could go on, but yk lol
such a beautiful castle!! i love seeing you build without any boundaries on budget an packs, just letting your creativity roll
My favorite Barbie movies are 1. Barbie Princess and the Pauper, 2. 12 dancing princesses, 3. Island Princess. Love the build it’s so pretty 😁
Barbie in the pink shoes is definitely one of my favorites to watch, especially listening to the song keep on dancing so amazing.
My favourite barbie movie was the 12 dancing princesses one omg I love it 😍
I love those old Barbie movies so much! I would watch them on repeat as a kid
this is one of those castles that you can just imagine frolicking through in a big gown and i’m so here for it
My favorite Barbie movie is Barbie: A Mermaid Tale. I watched that movie so many times and it's so much fun. It's less cringy than the older movies and has better animations.
My favorite is barbie a christmas carol, I used to watch it every christmas for years
princess and the pauper is the best Barbie movie !
You get it 😂
BUILD IDEA: you could randomize a decor style and base your house on that style!
Kayla: I don't know how many of you have seen the Barbie Movies. I assume a lot of you have.
Me: 😶🤔🧐
Kayla: I was born in 1999 and remember VHS. I'm aging myself.
Kayla: I'm 24 and I know a lot of you are younger.
Me, a 42 year old man: 💀
I have a series idea: renovating every house in all the Sims 4 worlds
i looooove when you just use all packs, no budget just your creativity !! 🤍🤍
The songs are so comforting too
Barbie princess and the pauper is the best one and its not even close
The Barbie Rapunzel is by far my favorite, I still enjoy it so much to this day and I get chills when I hear the soundtrack. I also used to love Swan Lake, and I discovered The Princess and the Pauper when I grew up!
Simsie I remember learning that the more empathetic you are, the harder it is for you to enjoy horror and stuff. It was from a video essay about why we enjoy horror and I don’t necessarily know if it’s true but considering that you do have very high empathy I would say it checks out.
a few years ago i was really into the barbie movies and diamond castle and magic pegasus are my faves probably. OH and island princess!
barbie island princess will always hold the strongest place in my heart
I loved Barbie Rapunzel because I was obsessed with her magic paintbrush!!
I haven't seen many Barbie movies to be honest but my favorite is Barbie the princess and the popstar!!! It's very fun and all the music is so good LOL
my favorite barbie movies are for sure the 12 dancing princesses, rapunzel, and nutcracker (the fairy + mermaid ones were cool too)
Fun fact! Go Figure was filmed by where I lived and so I was an extra in a few of the hockey game scenes! I was 13 at the time and had a MAJOR crush on Jake Abel (who played the love interest) 😂
