Unfortunately because Chanel didn’t undertake the restoration, it is now considered a fake . Value = zero . Good restoration though , well done Steve . I wish you’d use leather thumb thimbles to push needles through though , I’m a master saddler , thimbles make my life much easier when saddle stitching leather . 😉
I'm confident that a "Custom Made by Bedos" is higher class than anything that comes out of a factory. And I'm impressed by how well the quilting lines match when it is closed!
I’ve worked for one of their quality control in a workshop and this work is impeccable ! For some people in the comment, I get their point but The difference between this beautiful piece and what’s made in workshops is that this vintage bag has way better leather and metal pieces than what they have now which helps a lot in the final design but the quality of the products is still very high quality. The difference resides in the quality of the matters not the quality of the leather work ! The only thing missing on this gem is “sharpening” the edges and angles by hammering them, the result is bluffing. I just discovered this channel it’s always lovely to see a passionate and gifted leather smith thank you
😢Steve, I understand what it feels like losing a brother. I love the way you honored his memory in this video by restoring and wearing his apron. Another amazing video….let’s continue 🙏🏾
As always, you made an item better than it was when you received it. Technically, the moment the owner dyed the bag pink it was no longer a Chanel factory bag so the critical views are unfounded. The owner is going to love the new lamb skin that is softer and more genuine than what she had. It was also touching to see you so lovingly refurbish your brother's apron. It is far cooler than what you had!! Look forward to your next project.
I think touching up the corners is fine for a vintage bag. If you do repaint the bag it is still considered a real Chanel bag, but the value will go down quite a bit.
I know I've said this before, but I'll say it again. I really appreciate the fact that you include mistakes in your videos. I think too many people I think you have to be perfect in your work, when in reality how you respond to mistakes is a much better gauge of character. Thanks for sharing your brother's apron as well. 🙏
My wife is watching the world championship soccer Netherlands - Argentinia and i am watching a pink bag redone by the best cobbler ever. Grtz from the Netherlands!
Beautiful bag! I decided a long time ago, if I could afford a hand made I would much rather have a bag made by you than any designer company. You are outstanding craftsman.
They “restore” cars every day that start out as a pile of rust with a title. Hopefully they can reuse the motor, transmission, and rear end. The hardware so to speak. Is it a 57 Chevy or a 68 Camaro? Why yes it is. They have the papers to prove it. Same with this bag. It’s not a cheap knockoff made in China by slave labor. This bag is made as well as the original, maybe even better.
Not a Chanel but a nouveau chanel revival. You bring life to pieces which would never have been used again if not for your wonderful hands creating this artwork. Thank you for letting us see how you create.
Another awesome job sir. I love that you can show us your ability to "screw things up" once in a while. It helps us understand it happens to the best of them and it's not just us "regular folks" who feel like we're the only ones who struggle with accidents or "bonehead" mistakes. I think many of us put you on a pedestal of excellence and wonder if we'll ever get to your standard of craftsmanship. Thanks for sharing your abilities and personal life with the us. We appreciate it more than you know. Merry Christmas to you and your family.
Amazing work done. Looks brand new like it was just bought from the store. I can see why she would want it restored considering that's a vintage style and they used 24k gold plating on that hardware which they do not do anymore. You've created a better bag than what you can buy in stores nowadays with so much care and though behind it. 🤩
I don't care about brands or fashion so this is way cooler to me because she now has a hand crafted, brand new bag built by master craftsman. Maybe you need to start making your own BLW bags.
You make such a good point about stepping away sometimes after a mistake is made. Helps to just clear your mind and come back with a new frame of mind and much less frustrated. Continuing when you’re frustrated has never resulted in happy ending with me when doing a project. Your work is stunning! Such quality and craftsmanship!
When my Mom was teaching me how to sew she told me when you start making mistakes it's time to stop, walk away and leave the project for another time. You are correct that's the only way to do a good job and keep your sanity. The bag is beautiful!!
I love the detail on the back where the quilt pattern on the pocket matches the body of the purse exactly. The craftsman at Channel would be proud to call it their own. Great job as always!👍😎
Frankly its better than a Chanel bag, since you recreated this bag from a original design. Don't listen to the nay sayers. The finished product says it all, you are the best.
"Sometimes silence is the best conversation." So true. So very true. I'm still learning that I need to walk away and regroup when I don't have things go right. Thank you for the reminder. The bag came out great! Real Chanel, not real Chanel, who cares - the customer is HAPPY. That's all that matters.
I know it sucked, but it was sort of inspiring to see how you dealt with that mishap. I do several small DIY projects at home and I'm way too quick to say F it and give up. Even a great craftsman like you has mess ups. And I really mean that as a compliment because of how you handle them. Thanks, Steve.
Hai Bedo, it’s nog the original no it is, it’s much better then the original! Beautiful 👍👏👊. B2W, I also like that apron you’ve showed at the beginning. Good that you’ve a nice memory of your brother 🤜
No sense in making the same mistake twice, walk away, calm down, change your mindset. I love the pride you take in giving the customer the very best you can.
Oh your brother’s apron 😢 -that is so amazing, it’s wonderful that you have him with you as you work your magic, that apron is a work of art. May he forever Rest In Peace ❤️❤️❤️ The Chanel is a beautiful labor of love, that is one lucky woman to have her bag restored by you 👛
Wow! The work (dare I say) you have done is far better than the stuff that is being churned out from the Chanel factories these days judging by the quality issues the bags are having recently. Excellent advice too on how to recover and regroup when things don't go the way you want it!
Thank you so much for talking about taking the time to regroup . All quality craftsman understand this. It’s so helpful to to have someone such as yourself help to share this with upcoming talent and customers.
I don't know why but I like these bag restoration videos the most. And I'm a man. 😂😂This bag turned out simply gorgeous. Since it has the Chanel hardware pieces, zipper, original tag and since you used lamb skin, I say it is still an original Chanel bag, but better actually. I have seen brand new Louis Vuitton bags and man, they don't deserve the triple 0 prices, quality-wise. So as far as it goes, all purse brands can eat their heart out, as they don't achieve the top quality of your work.
6:46 Probably the only guy in the world who can repair highly priced signatures with absolute confidence but still don’t wanna replace the cutting blade 😂, nice job as usual 👍🏻
OLD Leather Smith here, Great Job as always Steve, I purchased goat a few years ago with the soft material already sandwichred between the leathers works great. I have made a few items turned out very nice. GOD'S BLESSINGS ✝️⚾🙃
Great stuff Steve. As a leather crafter myself I carve and tool a ton of leather and mistakes are made. Most don’t know there may have been an error on my part but I do and therefore I have to start over. I understand and appreciate you so much for doing life/leather work correctly! Also Steve, that apron of your brothers is amazing and I am jealous!
I want to fast forward to see the end result but Steve always explain about the original materials and I like that part. He’s honest about what’s cheap and what isn’t
Losing a brother is one of the hardest things to go through , that's someone you're supposed to get old old with and argue about who's going to bury who . I lost one of my not too older brother's just over a year ago Awesome to see you get his apron spruced up and wear it . On the video 🤌 as always I think I'd rather give my wife a bag made by you .
“Sometimes silence is the best form of conversation.” I like that. As someone who has to spend long stretches of time on my own, I might remember that. 👍
It's a CoCo/Bedo Bag! Looks fantastic Steve! Great work as always! I'm a firm believer in shifting my focus away from a project when things aren't going right or, just to refresh my energy before going back to work again. I think the eyes need that change of scenery! Thank you so much Steve! Lisa
Condolences on your brother. This is another one of those great philosophical questions on whether it is or is not still a Chanel. Many of the components are original and if the customer had sent it to Chanel for repair, ostensibly, their craftspeople would have replaced some of the panels and restitched the quilting, returning to the customer a similar bag. Whatever people decide on "authenticity" the work on the bag is unparalleled!
I caught your joke about updating with quality materials lol. I stopped having in interest in certain makers watching you deconstruct bags and seeing what was used to repair was better than what was in the bag. You have save me thousands of dollars 🥰😘
You’re right about taking a break when things go wrong. It just makes things worse to continue straight on. Egos need to be stroked, especially if you are a perfectionist.
Steve that was an amazing transformation and in my humble opinion you have improved the build. Next the ladies will be asking for a Bedo's bag instead of a LV or Channel. Brilliant!
It turned out awesome....I'm sure the client is going to love it. The materials you used are most likely better than what Chanel used...so the bag is actually more bespoke now.
Beautiful work (sorry my second comment) To buy this classic flap in the large is 10,000… so she got a steal. This year bubblegum pink is the featured colour for Chanel and yes the bag was re dyed because their older caviars were a peachy pink 💗 This perfectly matches this years trend !
The bag looks both amazing and brand new. I can't fathom why anyone would question your decision to fully redo the bag. It was the right call. The skills and experience you possess to achieve that end result is very impressive.
Wow outstanding result for your client just beautiful and may I say your client has a much better handbag than she had but most importantly you have let us see your world of expertise and outstanding craftsmanship so thank you . Eva from Scotland
Bick 4 to the rescue. So glad you conditioned your brother's apron. Even if you put it somewhere safe, the feeding of the leather was vital. The bag looks great. If a customer wants something, you give it to them. No one else's opinion matters. I hope the woman really loves the bag. How could she not? Something new I noticed today. Your 'wheel' sewing machine. The wheel is powered. I never realized that. Thanks Steve.
Walking away is the very best decision. We all have "hit the wall" during a pursuit. The ability to recognize it and retreat until recharged/refocused allows for a better experience with improved results.
I was not sure I was going to watch this one, I've watched every other video you have made, so must have been the color or something. Anyhow, so glad I did watch it, as it was a remarkable achievement. Great work.
You are very talented and master in your craft, very detailed and beautiful jobs. I watch every night and enjoy listening and watching your older videos.
Beautiful. It is a Chanel, just restored. Sometimes there's no help for it, leather wears out. Professional restorers replace like for like all the time.
Steve: "It's not a Chanel bag from the factory." No. It's not. It's MUCH better. They wish their mass produced bags looked this good. Well done Steve.

Agree, he is amazing

It is a Chanel bag. It is just remade. It isn't illegal. He remade the exact same purse.
😢Steve, I understand what it feels like losing a brother. I love the way you honored his memory in this video by restoring and wearing his apron. Another amazing video….let’s continue 🙏🏾
I was wondering the same. Thanks for sharing your family history with us.
There are owner after it’s fixed will sell it on line for $5000 or more to desperate person that thinks she got a good deal. 😅😂
I think touching up the corners is fine for a vintage bag. If you do repaint the bag it is still considered a real Chanel bag, but the value will go down quite a bit.
Chanel repaints bags all the time. I'm betting the tab was from another bag, repainted at the factory - if not the entire bag.
If the customer wants it then we aren’t the ones to say no. It’s hers and nobody else’s. I love the fact that you can do this for her.
I know I've said this before, but I'll say it again. I really appreciate the fact that you include mistakes in your videos. I think too many people I think you have to be perfect in your work, when in reality how you respond to mistakes is a much better gauge of character. It always makes me happy to see people actually using their luxury goods
My wife is watching the world championship soccer Netherlands - Argentinia and i am watching a pink bag redone by the best cobbler ever. Grtz from the Netherlands!

Better.
Well put. I'd say it's better now because it's made in the USA! ;)
The bag may not be 100% Chanel, but it is definitely 100% GORGEOUS! Love it!

I know this is a leather repair channel, but my goodness that cup of coffee he made for himself looked incredible.
You should show the customers reaction
Amazing work done. Looks brand new like it was just bought from the store. Your brother’s apron is a thing of beauty. Incredible knowledge and wisdom held in all those folds and creases.
The new bag came out looking absolutely great, and I love that you’re wearing your brother’s apron.
May the love in your brother's apron bring you health, wealth and happiness.
Steve gave my Golden Goose sneakers a new lease on life and I’m forever a fan. Protect this man at all costs! ❤
Frankly its better than a Chanel bag, since you recreated this bag from a original design. Don't listen to the nay sayers. The finished product says it all, you are the best.
He is so right to sometimes just walk away from a job, regroup and return refreshed with a clear head. This is how analytical work turns successful.
Wow! Absolutely beautiful! This is a masterpiece Steve. Awesome job! What a lucky lady to receive this beautiful piece.
This is a classic Ship of Theseus situation. Honestly, if the person who owns it believes it to be real, it’s real. Absolutely unbelievable work
Ohhhhhhh whalllllll to start with your brothers apron amazing…….I’d hang it on the wall along with dads pictures….👍🏻👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧🇬🇧

This is what the world needs - to care for and restore the items you love. So good for the Earth.
Your brothers apron 💕🥰 The love siblings share is for eternity. He’s watching over you and yours with a smile. 💗💗
Great job and for those who always have a negative comment hope they have a wonderful day and a Merry Christmas 👍🏼👏🏼
I almost cried watchng you touch your brothers apron.. it was so spiritual to watch ..hang in there

Mission impossible possible. Proof here. Must admit this pink is a perfect encore to the original.

Your apron will be I a museum one day
I really enjoy watching you go about your business.

Just a comment to help the channel. Let’s continue 👍
When i see my notification and i see that bedos upload a video. I smile and feel happy as a kid in a candy store. Please more videos. We need it…
You made the bag do much better! Genius 🎉

Steve, you represent your craft well, and you take care of your customers. And you are so talented! Keep on keeping on!
What a precious gift from your brother, to inherit his apron. Wear it and remember him with love!
That's why I don't sew. I just don't have the patience. You do a great job. Love watching your videos.

could you please make an inspection of metal fittings and leather top brands often use (the type, thickness, etc.)
Good job much better to the original make.
So Steve, i loved where you went with that apron, I'm guessing it must be the anniversary. Hugs for you man.
Easy top 5 favorites.
All I can say is wow!! Bravo!! This was an amazing turnout!!
I would have loved a reaction from the client after this my god your a magician
So sorry for your lost 🙏
I was blessed to see you honor the memory of your brother.
Baby hammer time! I love your advice on walking away and coming back refreshed. Most of the time when I do this the project goes even better.
Great job 👏 👍 👌
Wow . Thats awesome 👌 👏 👍
you are a very talented craftsman🎉.
