Thank you for the observation! This is the first video I have done purpose voice overs... as I try new things to figure out how to make the best videos possible. This is all part of our evolution as content creators! Thanks for watching and giving the feedback, it's so meaningful to us. We are still very new to this and exploring with how to do this best for people who'd like to watch!
Great video, loving the format 👍 My those burger buns were good value. Looked very tasty 😋 Nearly got a Chinese meal, but no ..... just another chinese shop selling so many things you don't need, lol. Spain is full of them, mind you its also full of delicious chinese restaurants at rock bottom prices too ! What I wouldn't do for a chinese restaurant here 😩 so miss it. Did you get one when you passed through Tirana btw ? As you said, the only thing missing in the Balkans is international cuisine. I miss nothing else from the UK but the great choice of cuisine. Stunning place to visit, its on the list. Really enjoying your videos thanks !
We didn't get any Chinese food in Tirana, we really didn't have much time there in the end. Definitely food options are bleak in the Balkans if you are a foreigner. We really like Albania but the cuisine and even shopping options for food are so limited, it might actually be a deal breaker to stay long term.
@JayandSarah We have lived here getting on 2 years now. At first shopping was different and difficult but now we are sorted we know where to go and who to ask. Only a couple of things we can't get, have to go to 6/7 shops instead of 1 though lol ! But we get by, nothing we miss now apart from restaurants. Agree it can be challenging, but we have adapted to it. Our Norwegian neighbours come every 3 months or so and drive, so they top us up with some items. Sometimes you can't have everything, I guess, but overall weighing everything up we are much better off and happier here than in the UK.
For sure you are better off... just the weather alone is justifiable. We found most things we needed to cook for ourselves. We bought meat and a few things at Stillo, it's a pretty good shop - but also expensive as a result. As you say, it's all tradeoffs.
@@graeme5595 Kotor is nice, we have been there a few times. The biggest issue with visiting Kotor is directly related to which day you go there and what the cruise ship itinerary is. If there are 4 massive cruise ships in town that day, the old town is just massively overcrowded. Check the cruise ship schedule and try to schedule your visit on a day there are none, or one.
@@JayandSarahthanks for that tip. I thought you meant Kotor was not worth visiting as all the other videos I’d seen , recommended it. Great insight and video from you both . Thanks 🙏
Yum, the burger looked really good! Did Sarah get a haircut? Her hair looks nice. Are haircuts more expensive in Montenegro? Can't wait to see where you're going! Another lovely video, love following along. ❤
She did! It’s her first one since we left Canada. The price was $20 euro. Haircut prices are hit and miss. There is a foreigner and a local price as I have figured out. In Albania I had 3 haircuts.. the first was $3 euro and the next two I paid $10 euro which was too much. I had my hair cut once now in Montenegro. The initial price was $10 euro but afterwards she only took $5 euro told me it was local price and when I tried to tip her she refused to take anything. Our side trip should be fun can’t wait to make some videos, that is so much fun to shoot and edit.
@@JayandSarah Wow! I get 2 haircuts a year $61.00 each plus $10.00 tip. That includes a wash, cut and style. Most salons here in California are booth rent. So, if the stylist doesn't make enough money to pay for her rent (it's high) she is not making money only the salon owner.
Wow! I just went to 5 Guys hamburgers and got the child's hamburger for $7.99 (it was the size of my palm) plus medium Fries for $5.45 (barely any fries for that price) and I was still hungry! I can only eat out 1 time a month.
Food inflation in western wealthy nations is ridiculous. Just imagine what cost inputs exist for you to have to charge $5.45 for probably less than 1 potato just to make a profit and keep it all rolling. Half the problem is the cost of running these big chains. We are in Belgrade, Serbia at the moment... and we went to a McDonald's. It's way more expensive than quality local food. It is more expensive than McDonalds in Canada or the USA. Here you have small operators, with low operating costs (low rents), they don't have 20 employees, they have 2... or 3 at most... and they produce great food at reasonable prices.
@@JayandSarah Yikes! & Yuck for McD's . I saw Jamie Oliver (chef) and on his show, he showed the kids in the show the gross ingredients that make up a so called "chicken Nugget" and they still wanted to eat it!. His point was to prove how brainwashed people are into believing it was real food. They spend BILLIONS on advertising.
Multicultural or not, although predominantly a Christian country, Montenegro's Muslims population is around 20% -- higher than in the countries of Western Europe or the US. And at least 20% are not neither Montenegrins nor Serbs (but Bosniaks and Albanias). But true, these are not immigrants settling in during the 20th century as it's the case with Western Europe and the US.
You new video style is really nice! I like the voice overs.

Nice area for sure!!! 👍
Nice - Keep featuring nice places that the cruise ships don't visit!!
Absolutely!! 👍 Kotor is a disaster… we’ve been there a few times but I’d not want to spend any time there.

@@cl2385 pricing here is reasonable in general. I get mine cut monthly, I like it short, especially in hot weather. Sarah, only one cut so far.
