Apparently an unpopular opinion but I think putting things in which weren't expanded on in the original tabletop like Cathay is a really good thing. It makes these games an actual extension of the world that was rather than limiting them to a nostalgia trip for people who enjoyed it. CA has already shown with Cylostra Direfin that they can make characters and units that are thematic and fit into the warhammer world, and ultimately part of the pain with the end times was GW essentially saying that they didn't want to expand any more of the world WHFB players had grown to love.
Tom and Ben are just not very excited for it. They're also a bit pensive about what will actually be added: in a game like this, something isn't always better than nothing.

So, how many armies were lost to Ben tunneling? Even with how annoying the wood elves are for Skarsnik to deal with losing so many armies to tunneling is probably the main thing that tanked this campaign, which is sad cause they had such an amazing start by Skarsnik standards.
Yep, I always feel that you should only really tunnel if you absolutely need to when anywhere close to a stronger/roughly equivalent enemy army. It's not a dice you want to roll willy-nilly.
As someone who's entire exposure to Warhammer Fantasy comes from total warhammer and this stream, I am super excited for Cathay. Finally there will be a faction with lore where I'm not way out of the loop
If ben wants to watch the Clone wars, look up the essential guide for it. It will give you some of the bad episodes( mainly early seasons) but only the ones that give you context and character's bios for later seasons. It's really helpful for people that have issues with early clonewars.

Mainly because I feel like unless they had it as a DLC mini-campaign like Kazrak vs. Toddy, the only way I could see Nagash making an appearance outside of a Green Knight or Ariel unique hero form would be in some sort of Total War Warhammer: The End Times. And I think we all know how that would go down fellow gobbos.

My experience with Skarsnik is just to ignore the Wood Elves until everything’s secured on the east. They declare war on you but pretty much never come out of the woods to attack.
I get not being interested in Cathay when you are a big fan of the table top, but as someone that is only into Warhammer because of Total War, I am very excited to see what crazy weird units they come up with that makes the faction variety in my favorite strategy game even more incredible. Not that I'm specifically excited for Cathay, I am just excited to have more factions with more diversity and more fun gimmicks.

I'd love to see you guys do a campaign set to Very hard campaign map and Hard battles. I watched a Zerkovich video that showed all the big ass buffs AI units get in a battle on Very hard and the biggest one is the leadership buff. Damn near makes all AI units unbreakable until they are at like 8% health, including crap like skavenslaves. So if you were to set it on Hard battles it would make AI morale a little easier to break on crap units. And by leaving the campaign setting to Very hard it would still let the AI have a whole bunch of gold and recruitment buffs as well as the increased xp gain. So it is still a bit of a challenge without the AI being complete cheats. Anyway, just a thought and love the vids regardless. Cheers!

Holy shit it would be absolutely incredible to have battle boys back with the format tom described in the vod. Heres hoping they can make some headway on the idea when the lockdown ends and things return to normal.
If they only played battles on normal difficulty they might actually get an accurate representation of leadership and the enemy units might break a little more often than once every 15 years. Ah well.

Guy´s just drop the difficulty. You both don´t put enough effort into Ben and Tom work or rather you don´t concentrate enough (and that´s OK you´re streaming it´s more about the show and having fun). Otherwise maybe try a bit more strategy, blindly mashing stack after stack into your problems might feel appropriate for gobbos but Skarsnik is all about that sneakin an stabbin. So baiting into ambushes is REALLY good, gobbos work surprisingly well in ambushes. Otherwise WH III HYPE! Much love and take care :D
i always took the midichlorian stuff as "it's one of the only ways we (the jedi) know how to quantify someone's (current) affinity to the force. they aren't the thing that gives someone strength in the force, they just congregate/flourish in creatures that naturally are stronger with the force." kinda how some people seemingly are more attractive to mosquitos, while others don't get stung at all... it's dumb, and if it was meant to be that, it's not explained very well at all in the movie, but that's how I understood it to work... otherwise benign micro-organisms (just like billions of others that live in our eyebrows and gut flora and stuff) that are attracted to the force that flows through some individuals more than others, thus some people have more of them, and that's what Qui-gon was detecting via Anakin's blood sample...
Warhammer advisor may be Sheerian? The old wizard that has the Eye of Sheerian which Archaon gets and allows him to glimpse the future Also, the advisor being a Tzeentch boy is in game 2 as well as game 1, just have to play WoC
The thing about the Clone Wars is that the bad episodes are kind of sprinkled in, there's bad episodes in later seasons and Rookies, a great episode imo, is one of the first episodes. Also the very first episode does a lot for making the clones more than just "nameless clone horde". But don't feel bad if you don't get into it, I get that it isn't for everyone.
Whenever I play gobbos I rely on spiders/poison. And a mix of some armor upgrades with a majority of weapon upgrades. Archers getting heavy ammo. The giant spiders get buffed by ranged, da gobbos, and da big ones
theres a black library series called The Horusian War that's all about inquisitors. The main character is a pretty bland grimdarkicus type, he's definitely no Isonhorn, but there's a managery of side characters that are all way more interesting. And it involves a lot of poking around the dark underbelly of the imperium and involves plenty of inquisitors double, triple and maybe even quadruple crossing one another. I thought it was actually well written and way more interesting than the usual 40k fair. Its on a standard with good none black library space operas imo.

Honestly pro-plays from Ben in Lorehammer. I thought the Cathay story was too wild to be true until the Alpha Legion one where I questioned that too (not because I'm hot on Alpha Legion lore, I just find it unlikely that he got the book). Both pretty mad so it made for an interesting combo.
noticed people worried about china being pandered to, i highly doubt that WH3 will pander to china considering the insane amount of bones and skulls in the WH series in lots of factions especially khorne with its literal skull throne opsession with skulls and if they do censor it it will only be on the chinese side of the game as the game will fail horribly if they do change whole game world wide, keep in mind that even though acti-blizzard for example censored wow for the chinese it only affects them not the rest of the world.
Disclaimer: I don't like the CCP. But i do think people are being over dramatic about Cathay being added. It's just a lesser known faction being added to the game with the approval and oversight of GW, it isn't the end of the world. I think people are just using it as an excuse because they are dissapointed their favourite faction hasn't been revealed yet.

I think Tom is just too used to fighting factions that focus on melee, using factions that have better leadership. It's absolutely crucial you use your initial charge and numbers to close with the Wood Elves, which more so important when your heavy hitters (especially trolls) are vulnerable to their missile troops. If you have troops just sitting in place getting shot you're just accelerating the onset of the army losses penalty. Quite literally, it would be better to just send your night gobbos and trolls in as soon as the shooting starts, giving them an attack order in a vaguely useful direction. (Old VOD I know, just needed to get that one out lol)

@@ArCSelkie37 Heyas :) Cathay itself isnt the issue. I'm glad to see it coming to TWW 3 actually. The issue that Ben spoke of was the fact that if CA is planning on 'bending the knee' to China, it means that they will try and cater to the chinese market. This means that there will be heavy restrictions laid upon what is allowed to be 'in' the game what isnt. For example, skeletons are not allowed, blood is basically not allowed either, and so forth (its a list they need to follow). Ben Worries that if they do so, will they then actually go back and look at the west and make a side version where all of this is put back in ? (blood is easy to do via the DLC etc though the rest might not be so) Or will they go 'nah, too much effort'. This also means that there will likely be a heavy emphasis on Cathay to make them stupidly powerful or downright whackey, cause 'China Nr 1!', and they need to, or else it wont sell in China. This has happened to games before. Hell, even Disney does it with their major franchises.

There are plenty of reasons to dislike it, just as there are plenty of reasons to like it. Star Wars is pretty old now, and has changed drastically over the years. Star Wars has retconned itself so many times that those who became fans 44 years ago barely recognize the franchise. It's opened it up to a new generation of fans, but closed it off to many of the old.
@@kamikazesopp it's been retconned twice, and the first retcon barely counts as I don't think anyone cared about the original Marvel comic books. If you ignore the expanded universe, the only thing retconning is the new Disney movies, which yeah, they retcon a lot. They do some of it in a way people do enjoy, or at least tolerate, but also do a lot that is poorly done. However, the reasons Ben gives for disliking it are sporadic at best, and completely illogical at worst. I am guilty of this partly myself, but to my understanding, I believe I do have a reason for labeling things in my mind as poor and great. The only movie I have not given a fresh perspective to look at during the first viewing was the rise of skywalker because at that point everything I needed to know about the movie was laid bare before and I honestly had no hope left in me whatsoever.

Also spiders ignore terrain slow down. Poison caused by them debuff enemy units. Also they cause fear increasing their usefulness.

Honestly pro-plays from Ben in Lorehammer. I thought the Cathay story was too wild to be true until the Alpha Legion one where I questioned that too (not because I'm hot on Alpha Legion lore, I just find it unlikely that he got the book). Both pretty mad so it made for an interesting combo.

noticed people worried about china being pandered to, i highly doubt that WH3 will pander to china considering the insane amount of bones and skulls in the WH series in lots of factions especially khorne with its literal skull throne opsession with skulls and if they do censor it it will only be on the chinese side of the game as the game will fail horribly if they do change whole game world wide, keep in mind that even though acti-blizzard for example censored wow for the chinese it only affects them not the rest of the world.

But i do think people are being over dramatic about Cathay being added. It's just a lesser known faction being added to the game with the approval and oversight of GW, it isn't the end of the world. I think people are just using it as an excuse because they are dissapointed their favourite faction hasn't been revealed yet.

Yeah.... I like em a lot but they make a loooot of mistakes, Ben.
I think Tom is just too used to fighting factions that focus on melee, using factions that have better leadership. It's absolutely crucial you use your initial charge and numbers to close with the Wood Elves, which more so important when your heavy hitters (especially trolls) are vulnerable to their missile troops. If you have troops just sitting in place getting shot you're just accelerating the onset of the army losses penalty. Quite literally, it would be better to just send your night gobbos and trolls in as soon as the shooting starts, giving them an attack order in a vaguely useful direction. (Old VOD I know, just needed to get that one out lol)
Ben literally won't stop complaining. About everything. Warhammer trailer - Cathay complaint. Star Wars - Prequels complaint. Wandavision - Too many adverts. He even complained about Tom's gameplay this time!! You can't cover it up by just saying "People can like what they like" while loudly complaining about what people like. Apologies, had to vent.
They have always been a bit complainy, but lockdown is definetly exacerbating it. Getting stomped for 6 hours straight probably didn't help, either.

I do think people are being a bit overdramatic about this Cathay business. I understand they're aren't exactly a "proper" faction, but not everything needs to be a conspiracy about China. What exactly are CA "bending the knee" too just by making Cathay a thing?

Cathay itself isnt the issue. I'm glad to see it coming to TWW 3 actually.
The issue that Ben spoke of was the fact that if CA is planning on 'bending the knee' to China, it means that they will try and cater to the chinese market. This means that there will be heavy restrictions laid upon what is allowed to be 'in' the game what isnt. For example, skeletons are not allowed, blood is basically not allowed either, and so forth (its a list they need to follow). Ben Worries that if they do so, will they then actually go back and look at the west and make a side version where all of this is put back in ? (blood is easy to do via the DLC etc though the rest might not be so) Or will they go 'nah, too much effort'. This also means that there will likely be a heavy emphasis on Cathay to make them stupidly powerful or downright whackey, cause 'China Nr 1!', and they need to, or else it wont sell in China.
This has happened to games before. Hell, even Disney does it with their major franchises.
Not to be a nerd but could we avoid spoilers for book not even available to the public yet. I know that (spoilers for the spoilers) it was yourhammer but I hate to miss a whole segment to avoid it

Ben, the more I hear about your opinions on star wars, the more I think you have no idea about what you actually want from it and you just are angry at it for no real reason other than old man hate new thing.
There are plenty of reasons to dislike it, just as there are plenty of reasons to like it. Star Wars is pretty old now, and has changed drastically over the years. Star Wars has retconned itself so many times that those who became fans 44 years ago barely recognize the franchise. It's opened it up to a new generation of fans, but closed it off to many of the old.
@@kamikazesopp it's been retconned twice, and the first retcon barely counts as I don't think anyone cared about the original Marvel comic books. If you ignore the expanded universe, the only thing retconning is the new Disney movies, which yeah, they retcon a lot. They do some of it in a way people do enjoy, or at least tolerate, but also do a lot that is poorly done. However, the reasons Ben gives for disliking it are sporadic at best, and completely illogical at worst. I am guilty of this partly myself, but to my understanding, I believe I do have a reason for labeling things in my mind as poor and great. The only movie I have not given a fresh perspective to look at during the first viewing was the rise of skywalker because at that point everything I needed to know about the movie was laid bare before and I honestly had no hope left in me whatsoever.
