iPad 9 is not only for students or for those news to apple universe as stated over and over by testers. it’s just the best tablet for the best price .period.excellent review finally
iPad 9 is great, and the Air is amazing. Really depends on budget, otherwise you can't go wrong with either. I also love the Mini 6, which I've said before haha.
Ipad ninth gen, only a year and a half old, is all 99 percent of people will need in a tablet. Don’t believe swayed by the M chip and all the fancy talk… the ninth gen is great, awesome actually. Save your money get the ninth gen.
personally, i own the 9, and most of the time it can't handle a minimized reddit read aloud video while im looking at amazon or etsy without lagging or force quitting one of the apps im using. if it had a touch more memory, it'd have been perfect for everyone, because even the average user will occasionally multi-task and it fritzing out or lagging typically isn't great for the average user nor for someone who wants to multi-task on it.
I weighed the differences between these two machines based on my needs and current pricing. As far as the Ipad 9, I consider 3 GB of ram (Apple tends to not publish this spec in their own Ipad comparisons) to be unforgivable. As the OS evolves and apps become more memory and CPU demanding, this amount of memory for a variety of tasks, even including opening up multiple tabs in Safari without forced refreshes- becomes problematic. The A13 chip is performant though it is quite a few generations behind. As far as the Ipad Air 5- the M1 chip is not as old and is much faster (if not totally optimized) for the Ipad. 8 GB of ram is sufficient and the USB C (vs Lightning port), far less limiting. Support for Stage Monitor at is also useful when hooking up to an external monitor (supports 4K at 60 HZ or better). However, for a variety of reasons (and depending on use cases), the Ipad Air 5 is not an ideal desktop replacement. Also, even at $499 for the 64 GB version (Black Friday pricing), I wouldn't consider it a great deal- just adequate. I agree it should start at 128 MB of memory of storage- not 64 GB. So the Ipad 9 is a better deal price wise at $250- and will meet the needs of those who primarily consume data- but the Ipad Air 5 offers a perhaps better price versus performance benefit over the life of the product. However, I understand budgetary constraints for many people- and both machines tap well into the Apple ecosystem and offer similar user experiences for most (but not all) uses.
iPad 9th gen can be great for people on a budget, but keep in mind it is still an older generation and with apple products, they’re prone to being slower. I have a 9th gen iPad I got in 2018 and I use it for procreate and TH-cam. Around 2020 my iPad crashed for no reason and refused to turn on and I had to get it fixed at an Apple Store, it happened again recently and I am babying it till I have a new one. As far as reliability goes, it should be temporary until you can afford or find an up to date generation.
I’d love you to make more content about iPad 9, since that’s the one I have. 😁 And about this comparison, I think the iPad 9 is perfect for an average user, the price is unbeatable and even if you get the Smart Keyboard and the Apple Pencil, the price is still lower than the Air. Of course, if money is not an issue, the iPad Air has it all. Greetings! 😎
yeah i feel as if this is gonna be a huge upgrade ive kept my ipad 2 since 2011 (still have been using it) and im blown away by how much theyve improved! totally gonna be buying the air 5! thanks for the video by the way, really helped me in picking.
There’s was a big price gap between iPad 9 and Air But is worth buy because of USB-C, better looks, bigger screen, M1, laminated screen, P3, 5G, Apple Pencil 2nd Gen, stereo speakers, Bluetooth 5.0, Wi-Fi 6
Longevity wise, iPad Air 5 is the newest model out right now, and it’s a budget design as well. If you really want the longest lasting iPad for your investment, the air is a no brainer.
It will easily last 5-7 years. I would say that for the vast majority of users - that's also true of the iPad 9 (but as you mentioned, if you want the newest model, that's the Air 5). Thank you for contributing.
bought last year the 12,9“ IPad Pro. It’s an awesome ipad and I used it a lot as well for work, mails, zoom and teams meetings. Also note taking. Without travelling i just used it at home. No everything goes back to mobile and bringing the notebook and the ipad… its just a tad too big. I hope for the ipad 10 that it has a laminated display finally. I this is the case i will switch back to the base ipad. I used the 8 and just liked it. The apple keyboard is good enough, size is nice and as you mentioned, bringing two different chargers is somehow annoying from time to time. Oh, one idea. If apple would offer for the iPad mini a keyboard that would be an interesting carry on solution as well. But I am afraid for that we have to wait a lil bit longer… Good comparison👍🏻
Well i bought an iPad 9 with 256 GB instead iPad 10 or ipad air and i'm really happy with it, i can do everything i need for work and i Will have at least 4 or 5 years of support, what ese can i así for? Good option now a days

I have an iPad 9, love it and don’t see a reason to get an IPad 10 or Air 5. Hopefully the iPad Air 6 base model comes with 128g of storage and Face ID. Then I’ll switch! Buy it nice, or buy it twice haha
Magic Keyboard is Epic fun with the touchpad and illuminated keys for typing in the dark is a must for me! The Stereo Speakers are a must when watching movies. Media watching is much more pleasurable to me. When you want at least 128GB storage the difference between the Air and the Pro get very small for the price so I chose the Pro 11”. Laminated display is huge for pencil but otherwise I do not notice. The 8 I had was given to and much appreciated by my Dad. Also has the Apple Keyboard. The 8/9 is really good but I really appreciate the Apple Light up keyboard and stereo speakers. I use it more than my MacBook Air M1 but like having both.
Watching from 8th Gen iPad. A12 Bionic seems a bit laggy for heavy gaming, but for light use it still fast and smooth. The Air 5 M1 Chip Blue color really beautiful and attractive!
Watching this with my ipad 9, as a student the only thing I don’t like is I can’t use microsoft for free here, cause its forces me to buy microsoft 365. But procreate i great for my multimedia art course
I was pretty much set on a used iPad 9 for $200, but I just found a brand new Air 5th Gen for $380. The Air is probably more than I really need, but the resell value seems much better with the Air. Plus I think I’ll enjoy the larger, anti-reflective screen.
Brilliant comparison video - that must have taken a lot of work but it is appreciated by people like me. The iPad Air 5 obviously has a lot of advantages but mostly not ones I need, and the clincher for me.... no headphone jack. I use that all the time on my current iPad. Apple, you could have perhaps got me to spend the extra on the Air 5 but not now, I'll be buying the iPad 9!
Excellent comparison review! Thank you for taking the time to put this together...awesome job and just what I needed to hear to help me make a decision.

I have been using the iPad 9 for 3 years now and I use my iPad a lot and do a lot of gaming and watching on my iPad however the iPad has started slowing down a lot while gaming would it be worth it to upgrade to the air 5?
I am using ipad 9 for the past 14 days and I feel it is smooth as F....I am a student and if you're a student it'll be nice to go with the cheaper option as it'll cause less burden on your parents....I contributed 110 dollar for ipad and rest my parents gave... You're study skill will be the same doesn't matter you go for the air 5 or 9th gen...and trust me...9th gen will serve you for 5 years atleast...Tech Gear Talk bro's air 3 still lasts...so why can't ipad 9th gen after 5 years of usage...I think M1 in ipad is overkill...I mean you do not have apps that'll use that much power...you may go with 9th gen or Air 4 and get a pencil if you have your budget rather than air 5.... One last thing that the air 5 shipped to India has quality control issues...I mean that there's a gap between body and back panel and you'll feel it if you press on Apple logo at the back...do tell that whether it's the same case for your apple outlet/store or not. Thanks for being such a humble and down to earth person....and I just love your outro: BUY NICE OR BUY TWICE... Mannnnn that's sickkkk💯💥💥🔥

Hey Bro! I really can’t decide! I have a GoPro Hero 10 shooting in 4K 60, and I want to edit the footage on an iPad. Which do you recommend for me: iPad 9 or iPad Air 5?
I have a MacBook Air M1 and iPhone 13 pro so the iPad 9 seems like it would be the best compliment. If I need better pictures Id use my phone and for work at home I like keeping my MacBook at home. I just need something quick mobile for homework and quick client work.
I like the ipad 9 Buttt That display That old design Lighting port .. Deal breaker for me 🥲 Should i go for air 5 or 9th gen .. Is that creaking on air 5 does matter? Here in india the air 5 is Rs 55k Nd with student discount i can get it at 47...or 48k in upcoming sales ...Should i go?
Still using my 126 gig iPad 6th gen. Will be interested to see the. 10th gen. Being as I have no comparison, I don’t have an issue writing with the Apple Pencil using GoodNotes and procreate
Just thought I'd point out that right now with the education deal, the iPad air 5 (256gb) is 131% more expensive than the iPad 9 (256gb). Not 200%. If you count the gift card at least.
Looking at getting an ipad to use as a drawing pad for 3d modeling but no idea which is best. Budget is a big issue to. Looking at a Ipad 9/10 or Ipad air 5
Hey TGT... Great content as usual. I have a query about the iPad Air 5. I have read a few reddit posts and some cases where the Air has has some build quality issues. More specifically when the back panel is pushed it affects the screen and there are some ripples. Also it seems hollow compared to the Air 4. The articles and posts were from March 2022, the issue maybe resolved but would like to know if the issue is still present or not.
It’s true mate. But it happens when you intentionally press those points. In regular force with Apple Pencil or finger touch, it doesn’t creak or produce those dots on the screen. So go with it and have fun. It’s way too faster if u have never used iPad Pro.
Rubbish! Unless you’re trying to wrench it in half, should not be an issue! I’m sure if you try to do a push up on it, it will happen, or maybe try and smash it with a hammer? Do let us know how that turns out? 🧐😳🙄😆😂🤣😊✌
Hi i have a old IPAD2 and when i put in restore mode on the Ipad, i cant seem to get the Box come up in Itunes on both a windows and apple computer so i can do a restore?? its pluggled in and the ipad shows the socket and little round itunes symbol so its it its mode. so whats going on? thanks for any help
The iPad 9 works well for what it was designed for at its price point, but I question how much more life Apple can get from this aging design. It seems to me that Apple is going to have to replace the base model iPad sometime in the near future with a tablet more in line with the iPad Air 4 or something similar in design and ability.
I’m still using an iPad 6 128g cellular. It generally runs fine although starting to slow occasionally on some games like PUBG. I am interested to see what Apple does with the iPad 10.
i bought ipad 9 yes the battery lasts long but using drawing/animation apps it lags or closes on its own when theres too many layers or frames😢charging sucks and I lost the cap of the pencil, I kind of regret buying it but I like the home button, still using the iphone SE too, with they will make products with home buttons in type c
Hey hi..i am an surgery resident ..so my major portion of work is studying articles and books and presentations in a tablet..so which ipad and pencil should i prefer.
Hi, I want to buy a mini drone that I can fly indoors and maybe outdoors that Is extremely easy to fly and sturdy and my budget is £25. Please may I get some recommendations?

Thanks for being such a humble and down to earth person....and I just love your outro:
BUY NICE OR BUY TWICE...
Mannnnn that's sickkkk💯💥💥🔥
Thank you so much for adding your perspective! I think you. made some excellent points! Thank you for being part of the channel!
Should I buy ipad 9 now or wait for ipad 10?
@@karamjitsingh2648 ipad 9 is better between the two, ipad 10 has very little improvement and some odd design choices
Thanks. I’m also a student and this helps
The 9th gen iPad is the best iPad in a long while, only gripe is Lightning instead of USB C.
This was a great informative video -Thanks!
Glad it was helpful! I appreciate you for being part of the channel!
Thank you, I love these comparison videos.
Aaand the doggie again! ❤
Thank you and THANK YOU!! 🐶
Sagi, thanks for another awesome and highly informative video about these two iPads. I always learn so much from your videos.
Thank you for making this video, it was informative and I found it very useful.
I’m so glad it was helpful. Thank you for being part of the channel!
I know this is off topic and I apologize but does anybody else think he looks like David Schwimmer/Ross from "Friends"?..Anyway, love the reviews and comparisons! :)
Super helpful, I made my decision and bought one using the link!
Which one should I buy if I am going it for vid, audio edit and procreate mostly and weekend gaming???
what could be a better choice between iPad Air 4 & iPad 9, considering the price reduction of ipad air 4?
Like your hesitance 😢
++ What did you choose?
Your opinion for iPad 9th for Lightroom editing?
Thank u for the video, It really helped me picking the right one!!
what is the green sheet you use to look at the speakers?
Hey Bro! I really can’t decide! I have a GoPro Hero 10 shooting in 4K 60, and I want to edit the footage on an iPad. Which do you recommend for me: iPad 9 or iPad Air 5?
I've been waiting for this comparison by you
Hope this was helpful! Thank you for being part of the channel.
Good video. Thanks for your effort.
So which one do you think I should choose? 256 Gb Ipad 9 or 64 Gb Air 5?
64 gb ipad air 5 kesinlikle
When I seeing you with your dog, that's so Cute
I have a MacBook Air M1 and iPhone 13 pro so the iPad 9 seems like it would be the best compliment. If I need better pictures Id use my phone and for work at home I like keeping my MacBook at home. I just need something quick mobile for homework and quick client work.
Honestly the iPad 9 is a no brainier. Unless you have money to burn or a serious artist then there is no real reason to buy an air.
I feel like every video has " squared of edges and rounded corners"
Love your videos been here a couple of years
I like the ipad 9
Buttt
That display
That old design
Lighting port ..
Deal breaker for me 🥲
Should i go for air 5 or 9th gen ..
Is that creaking on air 5 does matter?
Here in india the air 5 is Rs 55k
Nd with student discount i can get it at 47...or 48k in upcoming sales ...Should i go?
Go with what you like better. You won’t be regretting it later.
Does the iPad Air 5 wobble when being used on a flat surface (due to that camera bump)?
Got the iPad Air 4 Lte version for 593 US Dollars and ordered it just on Amazon...
CONGRATS!
Where do you get the awesome wallpapers?
Still using my 126 gig iPad 6th gen. Will be interested to see the. 10th gen. Being as I have no comparison, I don’t have an issue writing with the Apple Pencil using GoodNotes and procreate
Just thought I'd point out that right now with the education deal, the iPad air 5 (256gb) is 131% more expensive than the iPad 9 (256gb). Not 200%. If you count the gift card at least.
I am a medical student and I want ipad for note taking, to attend online classes so which ipad i have to buy
Great content, thanks 🙏
Looking at getting an ipad to use as a drawing pad for 3d modeling but no idea which is best. Budget is a big issue to. Looking at a Ipad 9/10 or Ipad air 5
Hi, I'm a student and im planning to buy between the ipad 9th gen 256gb or ipad air 5 64gb for note taking and organizing that can last upto 4yrs
i have a question for you: Can you move your finger comfortably while playing games because of the thick bezels on the 9th gen iPad?
Im literally waiting for your video..... A video about ipad 10 and air 4 would be much appreciated
I’ll work on it when the iPad 10 comes out.
@@TechGearTalk thank you.... It means a lot.... 🙃
The iPad 9 works well for what it was designed for at its price point, but I question how much more life Apple can get from this aging design. It seems to me that Apple is going to have to replace the base model iPad sometime in the near future with a tablet more in line with the iPad Air 4 or something similar in design and ability.
I'm very curious to see what they do with the iPad 10
I’m still using an iPad 6 128g cellular. It generally runs fine although starting to slow occasionally on some games like PUBG. I am interested to see what Apple does with the iPad 10.
Hi may I ask where could I find the wallpapers in your Ipad they were pretty cool. Like your vids btw
Thank you for the kind words - they come with the iPad.
@@TechGearTalk thanks for answering appreciate it
I am going to use it for drawing
What are you suggest
I pad pro
I pad air
Huawei mate pad pro
i bought ipad 9 yes the battery lasts long but using drawing/animation apps it lags or closes on its own when theres too many layers or frames😢charging sucks and I lost the cap of the pencil, I kind of regret buying it but I like the home button, still using the iphone SE too, with they will make products with home buttons in type c
Hey hi..i am an surgery resident ..so my major portion of work is studying articles and books and presentations in a tablet..so which ipad and pencil should i prefer.
If you're primarily note-taking and reading small pdfs, you don't need the extra power of the air, so go ipad 9. If money is of no consequence, go air
I can't afford ipad air . Can you please tell me if 3 gb ram(ipad 9) is enough for day to day jobs ?
Who’s watching on a iPad 9 gen in mid 2022?!
Finally! It's what I need. THANK YOU 💯
Hope it was helpful!
can you do battery test between tablets and ipads please.

Hey, wud u recommend ipad air 3 over ipad 9? Pls help. Thnks.

Would there be a chance that the iPad Air would increase storage for WDCC 2022? 🥺
Yes, there’s a chance
Would apple consider a 128 gb air segment?
Hi, I want to buy a mini drone that I can fly indoors and maybe outdoors that Is extremely easy to fly and sturdy and my budget is £25. Please may I get some recommendations?
Was literally just thinking about this and boom! You posted this video 🤣 Thanks you really helped a lot!
Glad I could help! Let me know what you end up choosing!
@@TechGearTalk I chose the Air 5! Finally! I took your advice; buy nice or buy it twice ;)
I’m getting an iPad air5 soon soo can u tell me bout the sound quality
Thanks!
Please make a video on wireless gaming controller for ipad 9th gen...and sad which can take power from lightening port and work
Meaning, a controller that you plug into the iPad?
@@TechGearTalk A wireless controller and a ssd that'll work with lightening port...I mean my samsung t5 ssd when plugged through a converter in 9th gen...it says insufficient power...I guess lightening port cannot deliver enough power to boot up a ssd...so recommend a ssd that works with lightening port...
And thanks for your valuable reply ☺️🙃
I bought the iPad Air 5 and it definitely worth it
Thank you_ for your suggestion.
Glad this was helpful. Thank you for being part of the channel!
Is it worth buying ipad air in September 2022?
