Love to see you guys that stream archery go back and build used bows or cheapest bow builds, because a lot of us blue collar guys can’t afford a new bow every year. Especially when you have a family and kiddos. Hopefully you continue to grow and hope I have a chance at this gem!
What an awesome video. I never watch longer vids like this but I couldnt stop watching this one. Grwat job I am happy to suscribe. After deopping 3k on my most recent build gotta say that bow is cooler! My SIL is about to buy his firat bow and im sending him this vid because its a great tutorial on how to do it right. Thank you!
Thank you! Bows have changed a lot in the last 20 years, but the fact remains that the older ones are still effective at achieving success in bowhunting.
@@RG_outdoors285 functionally, they’re very much the same. Most noticeably, it’s the noise, vibration, tune ability and efficiency that has changed and made them even more enjoyable to shoot. Definitely not a need, but most appreciate the changes depending on their personal preferences. Nothing wrong with an older bow!
@ that turbo hawk has a 7.5 inch brace height at 32 ata, and is rated a 320 fps, the AX-2 32 is rated at 340 with a 6 inch brace height. If the turbo hawk had a 6 inch BH it would push 340. Mass weight of the ax-2 is just under 4 pounds, the mass weight of the turbo hawk is 3.75 pounds.

Great video, it had a different feel than other budget bow builds done by other creators in that you went cheap with everything. Other budget bow builds will be a $300 bow with $1,000 worth of accessories and they still use high end arrows, release, and broadheads. One thing that you mentioned is having a place to hunt is the hardest part of hunting. This is 100% true, and I've heard it from a lot of other big name people in the hunting industry. Pretty sure I've heard Steve Rinella mention it on multiple occasions.
I wanted to make it as real as possible for someone that has to stick to a budget to get it done. It didn’t make sense to shoot a $200 bow with a $300 release 🤷🏼♂️ I hope folks can better relate to it because of it.
@@BowOnlyOutdoors I actually enjoy your vlogs quite a bit, I work in corporate software training, and the way you describe things and the pace at which you describe things is very good. Sometimes TH-cam bow hunters while they have a lot of knowledge, they aren't the best at presenting.
What a great velvet buck, love the story and years of hunting him behind it! Just shot my first ever mule deer on Jan. 11th with my Hoyt VTM 31. It was a great hunt!!! I’d love to win this Hoyt legend and continue the tick marks with a buddy of mine who has showed interest in bow hunting but doesn’t have a bow. He’s a 28 y/o first responder who has also battled and Lord willing has beat stage 4 colon cancer. A down right good dude with a great perspective on life. I think it would be awesome to get him into the world of bow hunting!! I appreciate all your content and look forward to the reveal, thanks for blessing whoever ends up winning this bow.
Brings back so many memories! I’m 32 now this was the first real bow I bought back then. Saved up went down to the bow shop proud as could be. I remember the Hawk series came with a mail in rebate lol. Killed so many animals with it. I also had sharpie marks on the limbs because we all wanted to be like Waddell, he did that on his bows back then.
@@LJTrent7 that is so cool!! Seems like a common theme back in the day shared from Mr. Waddell. Hope the winner of this bow gets to carry on the tradition! Thanks for sharing and I’m glad this video helped you bring back memories.
Cool video again! I’ve had great results with those exact same heads. Sliced right thru two deer and a 160#? pig. Razor sharp and no damage in the sand.
Talking about old school, I still have my Mathew’s DXT I bought new. Still setup like it was years ago. I get it out a few times a year to just remind me of how advanced equipment is now. 60#’s @ 28”. I shot easton ACC’s 339’s back then for hunting. Lol
My dream is to get one of the nice Hoyt’s but they get really expensive nowadays. I currently hunt but I don’t have the best bow. My brother bought it 6 years ago for himself but gave it to me this past year. I would love to get another bow and give it to him but unfortunately I don’t have enough funds to buy a new bow. Amazing bow with so much stories

@thereformedoutdoorsman I honestly don’t have a dream bow. I’m pretty blessed with the old bear compound that I’ve been using recently. If I ever get another one, I’ll be happy with it as well and do my best to use it and pass it on one day.
