I think it’s wonderful that you donate to your local food pantry. I feel that is something every gardener should do. Homestead for yourself for sure but it doesn’t take up much space to plant a few things to share with the community. We should help each other.
Make fermented hot sauce with your super hot peppers. Use a ratio that works for you. I grow a hot rocoto pepper tree in my garden. I use a ratio of 1/3 super hot peppers and 2/3 mild to sweet peppers. De-seed and cut into 1-2" pieces. Make 1 quart of boiling filtered or distilled water. Add 2 tablespoons of salt and stir to dissolve. Add to 1 quart of cold filtered or distilled water. Mix well. Add cut peppers to fermenting jars. When the water is less than 115º pour over the peppers in the jars. Close and ferment for 7-14 days depending on how hot it is. If above 72º check ferment after 5-7 days. When finished drain fermenting liquid into a jar and use a stick blender to blend the peppers into a sauce. Add some of the fermenting liquid back in if needed to loosen up the sauce as you blend it. Store in the fridge or freeze excess. This lasts a long time in the fridge. Don't throw out the extra fermentation liquid. You can use a bit of it to start a new batch of sauce but also just store it in the fridge and drink a shot anytime for a probiotic boost. I add the salty spicy fermentation liquid to dishes I want a little heat on but don't want to see the bright red sauce on the food. This is the best way I've found to use up the hundreds of hot peppers we get every year. I freeze it so I can have it in the off season. Usually get enough to last until next years harvest.
Man i love this channel, my favourite by far. I thought since i live in Denmark i couldnt really grow anything, but you guys introduced me to the hardiness zones and gave me a whole bunch of inspiration. Turns out that since I live close to the coast in southern Denmark I'm actually in a zone 8, which has allowed me to grow beautiful tomatoes and even planting a yuzu lemon tree in my backyard. Amazing stuff guys, you might not get many views and i don't even get how you keep the channels going, but keep it up and keep growing!
It's a wonderful thing to be able to feed yourself, but an absolutely beautiful thing to help feed others. Thank you for donating your extras to the neighborhood and food pantries. God bless. 💖🙏👍
Anybody can go to the store, get ingredients, chop it up and make breakfast... You literally just pulled it out and grilled it in your yard... that's amazing
Growing up, we always had a great garden, chickens, and each year Mom & Dad would buy a quarter side of beef and a whole pig that would go into the freezer. As produce or fruit would come into season and we'd get a glut of one particular thing and not enough time to put it up, that's what we would have for dinner. Corn pie, strawberry shortcake, potato soup...nothing was off the table (pun intended). My favorite was when tart cherries came in and clafouti was dinner that day!
There’s something magical about eating from your garden- all the things you happen to be growing at any given time tend to taste great together in whatever combo you choose.
You guys are the most hilarious college frat guys when together. I can’t stop laughing. PS. I learned NOT to put cherry tomatoes in my pocket either. Lol
Guys, Just an FYI--the reason for baking eggshells is not because of mold, but because they can c transmit salmonella. Remember, fowl pass eggs thru a cloaca, the same opening that they pass waste (sorry to gross ya'all out).
New gardener here. Would love to reach this level of gardening for sure! I started late this spring with jalapeño and bell peppers, indeterminate tomatoes, blueberries, raspberries, and herbs all in containers with the intention to do just this, cook a breakfast omelette 😀! Great motivational video for me 👍🏾
I've somehow not been getting your videos like I used to. Missed a bunch over the summer. Glad they are starting to pop back up. Only now I'm behind. Great video. Love watching your vids. Such a blessing when you can share your produce with those in need. Bless you both.
Great video and excellent breakfast, guys! I've been trying to add what I grow to my eggs when I make breakfast. So far I have used scallions, bodi (yardlong beans), bell peppers and tomatoes. Pimento peppers will be added to the list soon.
I really appreciate being able to see what happens with your produce after harvest. There’s certainly some vegetables that I could plant but don’t know what I would do with them, like kohlrabi? I would love epic homestead recipes for both regular and less main stream veggies 😋
Nothing beats a homegrown meal! This time of year I'm catching a lot of king salmon and it's so nice to cook up with all our fresh veggies and herbs. My new birdies beds I got from you folks are full of stuff that goes great with wild caught Alaskan salmon!
We have the same dream!! Often wanted too open a cafe serving just bacon and eggs with toast and coffee 24/7!! Shift workers will love it!! Sadly I'm too old to do it now!! LOL!!
If you crack your eggs shells correctly, makes a good seed starter container too. I found crushed eggs shells around anything that attracts slug/snails, keep them off the plants better (a few usually make it thru)
I always have tomatoes of all kinds roasting in the toaster oven. Sliced 1/2 thick or cherry. So sweet and awesome with an olive oil crispy fried egg and some mushrooms. I don’t even miss the toast!
I love that you love what you do! Gardening is a challenge but it is so worth it when you can enjoy your harvest. Breakfast looked amazing! Now I want a flat grill!
I've totally put eggs in my pocket 😅🥚When your hands are full 🤷♂️ It's when, an hour later, you've forgotten they're there and you sit down or bump into something. He he.
something i think that would add a lot to the content would be some more close up b-roll shots of the food and vegetables while you’re talking about them!
I've been watching your videos for quite a while now and just subscribed! I find peppers very fun to grow, but then, I am inundated with peppers and have a hard time finding things to do with them. This year, I am letting them mature, then dehydrating them and making powder. Thanks for your content! It's fun and educational :)
Excellent video. You two work so well together. This breakfast is one of my favorite ways to use my garden fresh veggies. I've never had a shishito pepper before but after watching your videos that is going to change next year.
Think I might have suggested something like this in a previous video as a bit of a joke. 😁 Kevin: " I can't be growing my own goats and cows here". Kevin in his head: "yet..."
Y'all should try it with cubed ham, crumbled bacon, or crumbled sausage. Cook up your veg as you did, then add in the crumbled meat and cover with the whipped up eggs. Just scramble it all together. Top with either some shredded cheese or best yet some leftover sausage gravy. It's my favorite breakfast when either I have too many veg trying to spoil in the fridge or when tiny bits of this and that are coming into the house, like in the spring when only 3 pea pods are ready for harvest... or if only a handful of spinach remains before bolting and it's not enough to preserve or make a quiche or whatever you usually make with spinach. Plus each time tastes a little different because the veg combo is always changing.
Kevin, as a treat you might want to try bsf (black soldier fly) grubs for the Epic Chickies too. I've heard they are really tasty to chickens and very protein dense. That breakfast looks fab. 😋
Please make more videos like this !!!😀😀 after watching this...i went back and watched it again. I never do that. This is such a FUN video to watch. And i need that griddle 😀😀
Always wash your hands after handling the eggs and chickens too so you don’t get sick from salmonella. I really want a lavender Orpington now, I’ve never seen one and little lav is so cute!! 🥰
Epic meal you just showed. I may in fact think about making an omelette sometime soon. (I have Fresno peppers coming in and i think that would go good in it)
‘Tamara’ your shishito variety means ‘treasure’ in Japanese. No wonder you have so many! Def going to try them next year. Love the banter and your videos.
Great video! More cooking videos pls. I tried store bought shishitos and I didn’t care for them. That omelet looked so good that I will grow some next year and give it another try.
That sugar rush peach pepper is pretty hot, but between a Serrano and a habanero. Harvest them when they've fully turned color so they're nice and sweet. While they're still green/pale, they're all heat with no other flavor. Hope you like them!
Fantastic video guys! Love the daddy energy ❣️🤗 my husband and I are designing a out door kitchen by our garden currently.Im definitely going to be getting him a Blackstone.
My mouth didn’t stop watering, but when Jacques did the bacon scoop with the omelette I think I made a sound my neighbors probably misinterpreted… good lord.
The sugar rush peach peppers actually aren’t all that hot, to me they’re about the same as a jalapeño. They are delicious though, I started growing them last year and they were instantly a family favorite. Really great in fajitas! And for some reason they seem to store better than other varieties, no clue why though 🤷🏻♀️
That's awesome! One day I hope to make whole meals from my garden as well! And thanks for the ButcherBox info. I checked it out and for those wondering, they currently do not ship to Alaska, Hawaii and Canada.
Coconut cream is extracted from mature coconut meat, like coconut milk but with less water. It's a common ingredient in Southeast Asian cooking, so you can find it in an Asian grocery carrying SEA products.

She loved it!

My first time growing peppers and I choose shishito. I have.. SO MANY lol I would definately recommend!
You should! They’re my kid’s and dogs’ favorite vegetable. Prolific as heck too.
As a chili head, next year, grow more peppers in general 🫡
