When Alex said he said he wanted some butter with his corn I was 100% sure the next line was going to be "so I bought some cows".
hahaha

Honey butter
Alex in 2024: How much milk did I get from my cow ranch?
Might as well.
Your character literally embodies how I would love my children to become when they grow up. The appreciation of the smaller things of life, is just reflecting in pure joy in everything you do.
take them out of the city life and public school system.
Indeed Namen! I agree....Alex is a great example of what we would love our children to embody! I always look forward to his videos.
Well said!

just a small piece of advice for your potatoes next year: washing them actually severely cuts down on how long they store, so if you want to store them for several months through autumn and winter, lay them out to dry for a couple days, but don't brush or wash off the dirt. and try to harvest them after a few days of no rain so that there isn't any wet soil clumping and clinging to the potatoes.
Also even green tomatoes can still ripen if you keep them with something that accelerates ripening, like bananas for example. I've heard it works well if you wrap them in newspaper with a banana so that whatever the banana releases is trapped in there. if you ever have green tomatoes fall off the vine again it might be worth a try
thanks for the info!
I have also been reading about following any brassicas with potatoes in a rotation, cuts the scab down considerably. I hardly had any scab issues this season and last season I planted my fall brassica crops there. Hopefully it will continue to work out. ☺
@@just_alex @kikikeks2 The banana peel releases ethylene, which is a gaseous plant hormone that induces/regulates the ripening of fruit. So I guess keeping the green unripen tomatoes close to the bananas makes sense. Check out the Wikipedia article "Ethylene (plant hormone)" for more info ;)
@@just_alexAlso you don't need to fully remove the spring onions from the ground when harvesting. Chop them just above ground level and, voila, they grow back indefinitely 💥
We had very wet end of summer and soil here has much clay in it, so it stuck a lot to our potatoes. We also had a lot of rotting of potatoes this year and I was thinking that washing them after harvest would prevent it a t least to some extent. Do you have any other idea how to prevent this in the future? I live in sub-Mediterranean climate and don't have any air conditioned storage space, so the temperatures in storage space are still pretty high (this also impacts potatoes sprouting those long pink/white sprouts while in storage).
I love how you are able to fully communicate the gardening experience. Highs, lows, challenges, failures, successes, and of course, all the various rewards. It was such a pleasure to watch you share some of your journey. Hopefully your transition to the new place will be smooth and that you settle in quickly. Looking forward to seeing what you decide to share with us in the future. Exciting times. ☺
Thank you so much!
Whenever Alex posts a video, I get this sudden rush of joy and happiness.
„In my melon growing book“. That cracked me up.
Absolutely love your content. So comforting. Your dishes look so delicious
I am a sustainability educator and gardener myself, and I am absolutely obsessed with your content. Your enthusiasm and appreciation for each of these little babies is fascinating!
I felt so sad about the melon that disconnected from the plant 😢 but also really happy about the ripe one you harvested.
I also enjoyed seeing your new skills in cooking and crafting some cool onion decor. This shows how gardening goes beyond the financial profit but rather contributes to your wellbeing, creativity and values around nature. I hope you keep influencing lots of people worldwide. 💚
So so happy to know that you can now afford to move out ! Can't wait for the next videos where you will be able to go full berserk without annoying your lovely, supportive parents :)
haha
Just a tip from an Aussie with a garden, in really hot weather water at night, that way the soil doesn’t dry before the plants have time to drink and often in the morning the soil is still wet to get them through the heat 😊
Alex, you're an true inspiration. So proud of how much you've learnt and achieved since setting up your own channel. Big respect. I've thoroughly enjoyed every upload. Keep them coming mate 👍🏻💪🏻
thanks!
They've done a beautiful job raising this handsome, smart, motivated young Gentleman.
The people comparing homegrown tomatoes to supermarket ones speak about the big ones. Cherry tomatoes usually come with a pretty hard peel already, but homegrown heirloom tomatoes are soft and juicy and won't survive transport, supermarket tomatoes are hardy at the expense of flavor.
Yeah the bought ones are rubbish I try not to refrigerate the store bought tomatoes and they have a little flavour😊
Try buying from a fresh fruit and veg stores they don't store any fresh foods with ice or refrigerated boxes etc.. they wont last as long but the taste is noticeable

i kind of love the chill vibe you give and have been enjoying your channel for 6 months now :)
sometimes youtube suggests me with some hidden gems :)
thanks for the support! :)
I love Alex because his videos are so nice and relaxing to watch. You have been doing a great job lately, Alex!
I love your content and I wish this can be one day with my little garden. It's so unfair how I want to simply binge your videos everyday but there's always such a long wait between videos (understandably as crops take a long time to grow and prosper!) . Great job Alex!
Just a small "top tip" if you decide to prepare corn in the future ( that helped me). Chop the tops and bottom ends of the corn off but leave the husk on, you can then microwave the corn ( depending on the size and how many) for about 8-10min and the corn steams itself in its own skin making the flavor a bit better and less time and water wasted. I didn't learn this until I was in my 20's, and of course you don't have to do it...I just thought it may be a good experiment to try in the future. Love watching your videos, so educational and so motivating to watch. ❤
I couldn’t think of anything better to watch for 45 minutes than your vlog Alex
It’s a wet Friday afternoon in Shropshire, but as we slip into winter, this reminded me of the long summer days, we have had this year !
Good luck with the move Alex
Thanks :)
I loved everything but especially you wanting to learn how to plait so you can braid your onions and you absolutely nailed it!! You can do hair now and everything!! You'd be amazed at all the things you could do once you mastered the braid!!❤❤❤❤
When you're set up at your new place, you may want to look into doing no-dig gardening (less work, and also less watering, as it mimics what nature does), and also to giving your plants a deep water, and then not watering for a few days. A deep water means the roots will dig further down, which makes them more drought-resistant, and more hearty. The less we pamper the plants, the more hale and hearty they are, which also translates into less diseases and even less pest damage. :)
There is no price you can place on the satisfaction of puttering in the garden and being able to enjoy the fruits of your labor. It was such a leap of faith your parents had in you to first let you have your bees and then the garden. I think they enjoyed how special it all was. I hope you will continue to keep bees and grow food. There is always something to enjoy and learn.
These videos have massively inspired my gardening journey. Sadly the weather here in Yorkshire hasn't been the best so I didn't much to harvest. However the failures this year have taught me so much for next year.
I just wanna say that your videos have been helping me in my sad/introspective moments, such as today
You're just so calm and delicate with your words and with the way you treat your plants, mushrooms & bees that it becomes a healing thing to watch
Thank you very much for these videos
Love how you put this video together by showing harvests then meals made from them. However, those fried corn things looked very creepy, like giant bugs! Congrats on getting your own place. Our love for gardening is beyond cost or the work invested. For me it is a total joy. Your new garden will be joyful for you as well!
Looking forward to the growing at the new place and the bees . Chickens might be a good thing to add if you have the room
Such a hamble person asking just for a bucket for his birthday 😃 Nice to see you back Alex! Enjoy your new place!
I'm always so happy when Alex uploads, just brings joy to my entire day.
You're probably doing this, but it wasn't showed on the video so I wanted to make sure: Do you know to dig in the soil under and around the potato plants, to look for more potatoes? Not just what comes up when you pull the plant. It's like a treasure hunt. :)
This is going to be fun and relaxing to watch! good afternoon from Stockholm!
You have so much talent Alex. The BBC should be beating your door down. Loved your appreciation of all things including the humble bucket! Your dads face when eating said it all! You paced this video beautifully. Good luck with the move and hope the bees travel well.
Education you can use for the lifetime and pass on, priceless!!
Currently in third year college and I can't wait to be successful and buy myself a farm. This motivates me so much
I always watch videos with a finger on the fast forward button, but I have never even thought about skipping any parts of your videos. Amazing work that makes the things you do seem accessible to the common folk. Keep it up!
Same!
Been waiting for you upload for days now haha thanks bro 🙏
Been patiently waiting for your post. So happy! ❤🇦🇺

❤❤❤thank you farmer Alex for a great farming experience shared with me and the World . I loved your planting , looking after , the shared challenges and harvesting and financial accountability. We thank your loving Parents too for being generous to you 💕 long live to them. I got inspired to plant Garlic cloves from supermarket cloves and they are growing. We are growing greens called amaranth, pumpkins and peas. Hope I keep planting more and harvest more
Its always a good day when i see Alex has posted a new video.
Love watching your journey. Youve inspired me to try and plan out a mini garden for my apartment balcony next year.
It's always a great day when you have a new video out Alex - this was so wonderful to watch! You truly capture the joy - and struggles - of gardening.
I moved into my dorm recently and have been missing what it is like to have a garden like I did back home. This video reminds me how much I miss having living things to look after. I now will vicariously garden through this channel Alex, thank you!

I've got to say, I was very excited to see you succeed at plaiting the onions. It looked great!
Watching your journey has been fantastic Alex. As an avid gardener it's wonderful to see.
Thanks so much for making such entertaining and informative videos at the same time.
Keep up the great work.
Thank you Alex ❤
I really have enjoyed watching you grow food, you have done your research but you have also have a lovely "bung it in and see what happens" attitude, which is what people starting out in growing fruit and veg need to see more of, and as a regular grower of fruit and veg myself, I often forget and get caught up in more complicated things. Congrats on the amazing harvest. Perhaps your Dad might continue to grow food in that space next season. He certainly looked like he was enjoying the fruits of your labour. You have such a lovely watchable style. Congrats on the new place and can't wait to see how you get on there.
Nice to see your parents enjoying their meals. Nothing like cooking for family, it always makes it feel so much more enjoyable.
This video series has definitely been an inspiration to start my own garden. I'm from Australia so we are coming into the warmer months now, I've already started some seedlings and preparing the ground.
Been waiting for this video nervously! Love it!

First time watching your video and I think 🤔 your family house and garden is so beautiful and breathtaking. Im so blessed watching your video. And I'm sure I'm going to Brag about this good ways. Thanks for your inspiration 🥳
Excellent video Alex. Thank you from Hawaii!!!
You are my inspiration, alex! My mum used to have a mini garden too but she had only small time of interest in it and the negligence left all plants she bought to dry out and expire. But a week ago, I tried planting and removing unnecessary weeds and overgrown plants. Let's say it felt quite boring and exhausting at first, even my mum was annoyed by what I was doing and told me choose different hobby but after I discovered your channel and watched a couple of your videos like bee keeping and this one gardening, I've decided to clean up the whole mess and make a brand new fresh garden again! Thanks for your inspiring video, I have learnt a lot from you.
i watched all your videos this summer, keep em coming brother your content is amazing
You're such a chill guy, this is so far from most of the content I watch but I always watch your videos when I catch them. Enjoy the move! :)
