No....you know literally everyone on earth's hair is uniquely pigmented, just like their skin? Many people's hair grows darker at the root and fades. I have jet black hair but it's still better to show varying degrees of color from dark to light for all shades. Sheesh.

They've always had great, bright colors. Their formula just sucked ass, made your hair way too dry, and caused mess everywhere, but it looks like theyve improved their product. Might be willing to give it another try. I have tried similar fashion color no bleach dyes before and they work pretty well.
y'all should put more examples on different shades of brown hair. Debating on indigo or amethyst.
update. Just tried Midnight Amethyst. I see no purple. Hair looks slightly darker if anything. Very disappointed.
How dark was your hair before dying it?
probably about the same as the model in the video if not a little darker.
AniStar13 i have brunette hair and used both. they both looked really nice on my hair, they came out vibrant. the indigo is slightly more blue than the amethyst, so if you're wanting more blue, use the indigo

I have very dark brown hair, almost like a dark chocolate bar and I have been using splat no bleach dye & it works for me.
Even with shampoos with sulfates won’t completely strip the green out of my hair :)

I have medium brown hair, and this color was GORGEOUS! I washed my hair every other day with sulfate-free shampoo. (On the days that I didn't wash it, I wore a plastic hair cap.) It lasted about a month and a quarter in total, but lost it's intense color after the 15th wash or so.
this shit STAINS EVERYTHING. turned my whole bathtub and skin blue. wouldnt wash out of my freaking hair either. but yeah, beautiful color.
It's semi-permanent, so it's going to hang in there for a hot minute.
Yes, it does stain stuff, but with some good cleaner with bleach, it should come off of tubs, sinks and counters.
Lol I used the red hair dye (don't remember exact name) from them and when I was washing my hair, bathtub looked like a crime scene. And my bathtub had slight tint of pink for awhile...

Ugh, this product is getting too much hate. I use it on my brown hair, and it works great for me. Yes, it stains everything, but it makes sense that it would. It's dye! Also, it smells nice!

Guys, don't use this on jet black hair and expect a drastic change...true black hair has way to much pigment for any shade to surely show up. Also, the underlying pigments of dark hair are a deep red, so if your hair is very dark brown emerald or green based blue colors will just cancel out the red pigment and make your hair a neutral black. Purple might tint it, but it will be very subtle. A strong blue base is your best bet for tinting your hair when it is very dark brown.
Omg I JUST bought the splat for me a few hours ago and I’m planing to do my whole head too but if it doesn’t show much then I can do it more then just once I can do it two or even three times so the color can be very nice vibrant and bright how I kinda want it
this product is getting so much hate but i used it, it’s actually pretty good. in the beginning it was pretty dark but lightened over time. i would use this again.

I did the red on my medium/Dark brown hair. It lasted for a month and looked like I bleached it. I bought the blue, didn't do much. Point is, red works really well. The blue/purple , not so much, If your hair is black, I don't think anything will happen.
For me I have really dark brown hair at least compared to the box. I dyed mine midnight jade and it had this cool effect for me. Cuz it was so my hair was already so dark often my hair just looked black unless I was in certain lights or on camera then it looked green it was the coolest thing ever. It was awesome to see the surprise on people's faces when I stepped outside and my hair shone green. I also have really severe red pigmentation on my face and the green had the added benefit of helping me tone that down. The darker the hair is the darker the shade of the dye turns out and the greater the difference in light I noticed.. I assume it would work the same or better on people with hair darker than mine but everyone's hair is different. Thinking back to the camera thing that might be why it's hard to notice the subtlety that I experienced. Looked nearly black to me irl but in every photo I have it looked like I dyed it obviously green. Super awesome it's my go to dye now and it always smells weirdly good.
We also tried the midnight stuff on my sister who's a dirty blonde and it came out really vibrant like no subtlety at all. But she is having alot of rub off, don't know if it's the dye or her hair she's always had problems with dyes staying-this ones been the best so far.
Love this stuff cuz I was always afraid of bleaching my hair but also desperately wanted to dye it various colors. So if u have dark hair and don't like bleach this is the best thing I've found just know it'll probably be alot darker than u anticipate if your hair is darker than the box..

SPLAT IS THE BOMB! period. manic panic does NOT work on dark hair without bleaching it at all.

The hair dye is so pretty, expeshely on dirty blonde hair! But it gets everywhere. I've now used the amithist and this shade plus the 10 wash. And yes it's messy but I do like how they estimate the washes. I have supper thik hair and this is the only brand I've tried, yes but they have the perfect amount of dye. Though at the beginning of using the indigo my hair looked black at the ends, it has became a beautiful Navy blue.

Pro Tip: Never cut the top off, just cup one hand around it and use the other to bend off the tip. Alternatively you can grab a cloth you don’t mind staining to bend the tip off.
Apply the dye from the tip to the roots and use a tint brush to apply evenly. You can squeeze more from the tip to the mids and continue to evenly apply with the tint brush. This evening distributes the product through the entire head, anything leftover can be massaged by gloved hand throughout.

My current hair color is a medium brown with copper highlights. I bought the midnight amethyst. I'm planning to dye my hair tomorrow. I'll see how vibrant my hair is.
Update:
I dyed my hair and it's a dark purple color. It's very vibrant in the sunlight. I left it on for 3 hrs. The cons of this dye is that it stains your scalp and whatever you touch, lol. I'm happy with my results. I recommend this dye for those who have medium brown hair or lighter.

I have the same hair color of the girl in the video and I wanted to color the two front piece of hair purple(like dark purple) and wanted to take midnight amethyst. But now in this video I’ve seen she’s using indigo and it actually turns out dark purple lol should I try indigo to have this darkish purple?

I use soft scrub in shower/ simply green on my skin and shower.

I have really short hair and will only need about 1/3 to 1/2 a bottle.. will this product last in the bottle since there is no developer to add? Or will I have to waste all that dye

All the midnight colors do is turn my hair black. My hair is about the same shad of brown as the models was and i get no color from the dye. Just turns it black

Y’all need to get the magic eraser. It’s worked on some dye stains for me but be certain you’re not taking paint or finish off stuff.

nope sure didn't. did the splat no luck then did the one with bleach looked awful even after the dye was pink. then tried it with swarskoff. still nothing. git a box of black from dollar tree. worked great. black stayed all the pink washed out. my hair does not like color. besides I look good with black. 4 tries no luck. let me know if something works for you.

This video doesn't explain how to get the color bleed off your scalp. It took 3 washes with a day of rest in between each. I washed my hair hair with cool water after coloring and letting sit for 2.5 hrs. On the second wash I used LAVA bar soap from Walmart for $.97..I parted my hair into for sections and made a lather out of soap and applied to my scalp. When I rinsed 90% of all stains were removed. On the last wash I repeated the 1st wash and all stains were gone and my hair color took and is still purple.
My hair is black now....even though the dye was midnight amethyst:/

I dyed my hair blue with splat and that stained my bathtub badly I was literally in my tub scrubbing for an hour and a half
One of my mainstays for hair dye is Lysol's mold & mildew remover. Spray some of that on the stained tub, sink, etc., leave it for about ten minutes, and it'll come right off. :) Literally, most of it will have disappeared by the time you get back in there.
(Not all scrubbers will work on hair dyes. It also depends on whether you have a ceramic or plastic tub, etc.)

Hi- you definitely don't have to have it washed it before hand but it is better when it is clean.
