Ugh, seasickness is awful! So sad that you had such crappy weather in the Outer Hebrides. I wonder if you’d enjoyed it more with better weather? It was interesting seeing the highlights. I don’t think I’ll ever forget that climb to the statue of Madonna and child. Totally spectacular, utterly memorable. I do hope you get better weather!
If you had bad weather then I can understand, it would ruin any holiday for me. Both times I've visited I decent weather and I loved the place, Harris being my favourite.
Good vlog Roz. * To be fair, I bet you wake Winston up if you get up in the night/early morning to go to the toilet. * I think you’ve discovered that once you have seen one of the Outer Hebrides islands, you’ve seen them all. * My final ‘Should have gone to sunnier islands’ recommendation are the islands off the coast of Sicily.
Just noticed at 03:35 that chap next to you looks like he’s got some kind of roof rack camping setup!?! On the Outer Hebrides that is what I call sporting! 💨 😮
He certainly was very brave! I remember talking to him but I can't remember where he said he's been, but overall I think he was enjoying his time there.
Hi Roz, I used to do a lot of sailing, and was always told that seasickness had two distinct stages, first, you are afraid that you're going to die, then you're afraid that you won't. Best wishes from Ireland.
Sounds like he has been taking lessons from my cat Winnie, she does the early morning middle of the night wake up calls for me to let her out, sometimes she doesn't go out and just goes back to bed.
I'm so glad that we got to see the Hebredais on TH-cam through your eyes... Being there in that weather for more then a week would have made us turning back to the continent immediately. That's the thing with camping, you really need some good weather most of the time to fully enjoy everything. Your stamina is mind boggling!!! We applaud you 👏👏
Hey Roz, not sure if you'll see this message, but it is Saturday 07 Dec and I'm praying that you and Winston are safe and warm in this snow storm. Sending you love and sunshine from The Cayman Islands. 🙏🇰🇾🌺
Hello, thank you very much, but we’re all good where I am. It’s very blustery outside (Winston and I have just been for our lunchtime walk) but there’s no snow. We’re settled inside our home now 🥰 Thank you very much. I hope you’re enjoying the sunshine 👍🏼
Thanks for bringing back some memories of places we visited over 20 years ago. If you didn't like the wet and wind - word of advice don't do West Coast of Ireland. Don't get me wrong - lovely place and lovely people but when we went it rained most of the 3 weeks. Nearly broke us and took weeks to be weaned off the Guinness that got me through most of the days...
I can't believe hoe cold it was. Similar temps to now. A good watch, looking forward to the next part as I have past that site a few times and wondered what it was like.
Speaking as an ex merchant navy officer (used to go away for 4 months at a time) I was seasick EVERY TIME I joined a new vessel. Ill for the first two/three days of every trip! And I did that job for 10 years.... your bout is nothing to be ashamed or afraid of. Glad you recovered quickly though. Nice to see you back on the mainland too.
Hi Roz, my husband also gets seasick, awful experience! The area around Ullapool is very beautiful, and only gets better the further north you go. Typical fur-child, they always grab the warmest, comfiest spots and then give you the innocent look 😂😂💙🦋
I went on the same site on possible the same pitch in April 2022 ,I had beautiful weather ,cold but clear and sunshine and wonderful sunsets with my fire pit on the beach ,tried to put on little video but can't find a way to do it ,but you've reminded me why I must go back ,😊
Hi Roz, I'm going back to The Outer Hebrides in May 25, this'll be my 9th trip, I adore it, infact if I could afford it, I'd move there, but alas, it's not for everyone, you where extremely unlucky with the weather plus you took unwell during your trip, that didn't help, I hope you had better weather in the Highlands to finish off your adventure, looking forward to the next one, thank you for bringing us along ❤
I do feel so sorry for you Roz, for 4 weeks you got absolutely monstered by the weather on the Outer Hebrides and it had one last sting in the tail for you with a rough sea crossing to Ullapool. Your planning and organisation was impeccable, your financial outlay must’ve been significant too, you just needed some fair weather to be able to enjoy it so much more. However, I’m still really looking forward to the final leg of your adventure!😊
It's amazing how our furry friends can infuriate us so much. They drag us out of bed, in the cold at stupid o'clock, make us walk around, at the end of the day, we seem to love them even more. Love your videos Roz , appreciate you sharing your and Winston's adventures.
Poor weather certainly puts a downer on holidays. It certainly didn't diminish my enjoyment of your vlogs however, which have been superb. Warm rice pudding and jam ! The ultimate comfort food ! Thanks for posting.
It seems sad that you’ve to experience all of this travel alone. Great tho that you’re sharing here… in a some sense we’re all alongside you along the journey. Keep up the adventures ❤️
This video was a lovely recap of all the places you have been. It's such a shame about the weather a bit of sunshine may have made all the difference. On a positive note, you have on film all the memories of your beautiful Winston. I love how he snuggles up to you ❤
Prolonged grey, chilly and wet days would get me down whatever the scenery or things to do. Of all years this has been the worst for getting out and about in the sun. As ever, lovely, enjoyable video.
Thanks for the recap, Roz. I doubt if I'll get to tour the Outer Hebrides so your vids and those of The Other Windsors have been great to watch. I think the Uists, etc, would be a bit too bleak for me - I relax more with trees, more greenery and less battering from the Atlantic. Although I'd like to visit west Ireland!?! Looking forward to more windmill tail activity! Laura
Such a nice setup you have, you will remember the trip through the Hebrides islands when you are 80y and think about the days in the Pod with Winston and how simple life was in a small space 🚀 Seasick 🎉 try 10 days on a emigration boat, than later in life 7 hr. on a ferry in Greece, I get sick in a rowboat! Ble ! So yes I understand 😊
You should do a holiday recap for Winston also, kind of like a Poophoria Montage of all the best and most exciting places he relieved himself? I’m glad Winston woke you up and didn’t leave you a mint chocolate on your pillow. That would have been a very abrupt start to your day!
Oh Roz, there's nothing worse than feeling sick on a ferry. That crossing can be quite ruff ,we've done it a few times and had the same feeling as you 😢absolutely love ullapool, you are both in such a beautiful natural area ,ullapool seems to have its own weather map from past experiences 😊X
Hi Roz, Thought you were going to say he pooed on another stinging nettle. I could easily have race back to sleep races and beat even Winston, that's what long covid does for you 😴. I know you are busy and questions take longer, but have you ever looked at a VW T6 camper? You sure did look pukey, hope you recovered quickly. Hope you do get better weather, there is some fantastic scenery. Cheers Graham
The VW campers arnt much bigger on the inside than my pod. However, the bonus is that I wouldn’t have to tow anything, but the downside is that they are very expensive 🙈 I think my next upgrade would be a bigger caravan 🤔 we shall see. Thanks for watching and following the adventure 👍🏼
Absolutely love this channel the content is second to none I do hope you will be doing adventures in 2025 and by the way roz winston got you tied around his little paw lol 😂
Hello Roz. I liked the laid back easy going lifestyle of the Outer Hebrides, but it takes forever to get anywhere. The narrow roads with passing places were driving me nuts. The beaches were great, but once you've seen one you've seen them all. When you've visited all the tourist places there's no need to go back again. Like you say, plenty of new places to explore. I am interested to see where you go on the mainland. ilona
I can't believe your weather. I know it was grim here but I suppose we just got up and dealt with each day. Love watching your adventures with the lovely Winston 🤎
Sounds like Winston is becoming an old curmudgeon (I know the signs as I am one). I think you may be right about the weather being amiss - it was a colder and wetter summer this year - and that this played a part in it not being the best it could be. I did appreciate the encapsulation of your time on the isles which further underscored the weather issues. Nice to see you out recovering from being seasick and walking El Winston. Looking forward to next Wednesday.
Thanks Roz, Great Vlog as usual. The only sad thing, for us, is that it means you're another week closer to the end of your tour. Hope you plan to carry on Vloging in the future.🤞😊
Well Roz, I think the lousy cold wet weather has a depressing effect on your well being, and considering that you are handling the adventure well and have Winston for company, nothing gets him down. For us here in frozen Canada with tons of snow, we are considering heading south after Christmas, Florida is a two day drive south and the weather warms up around Tennessee which is a days drive away.
Hi, both poor Winston. At least he woke you it could've a lot worse . Nice to see a look back at your travels, glad you got over your ferry trip you did look proper ill. Look forward to the next adventure you both take care.
Thanks for the video loved it. I felt so sorry for you on the ferry. sea sickness is the worse thing... puke..... Best stay off the ferries [Sick bag Annie] lol
The difference between a 'holiday' and an 'adventure'. On a 'holiday' you go away for couple of weeks, everything is organised, you forget work, or if you are retired you forget about all the jobs you should be doing at home, you sit about and don't push 'the envelope'. On an adventure, you go away for a few weeks, do things and see places you'd never normally see and do, things go wrong, you deal with them, you 'push the envelope'. Then when you get home you feel you need a holiday! Adventures are MUCH more fun. BTW, the reason that they have a pin number for the facilities at the campsite near Ullapool, is that the lay-by at the entrance fills up with motorhomes and campervans free camping, and then they have the cheek to sneak into the campsite to try and use the facilities for free!
Oh when will we see sunshine. I think weather played a good part of not enjoying so much. However we all enjoyed watching you and Winston. And talking of Winston, all we can say is typical dog, been there done that many a time.We just bow to their wants don't we. Thanks again for having us along, sorry about seasickness. Watching is certainly helping me in my slow recovery. As usual keep safe and enjoy life ❤
It's usually less windy round the corner from where you were parked up at Ardmaie point, it's a better place to launch the paddle board. Brilliant Vlog again 👍
Another brilliant vlog well done. You just got to love Winston 🐾🐾🐾One hopes your still socialising as we go in to silly season been Christmas and working hard and not going bankrupt 🤣🤣🤣 Take care stay safe. x
I really felt for you on the ferry. The Minch is notorious for being rough. I've been lucky most times...apart from one. We were late departing because the Captain was deciding whether to sail or not. It was pitching and rolling so much that bottles and glasses were flying off the bar. Horrible. My daughter sailed on a trip so bad that cars came loose in the hold and were crashing into each other. Since then, CalMac have been a lot more timid about sailing in a gale and have had a lot of criticism for cancellations. Can't please everyone! Mary x
I just realised that’s when Ewa and I just missed you. You left the day we arrived and we were both so disappointed we never met yourself and of course the star of the show Winston. Oh by the way we’d lovely weather there 😂 just saying Roz 😂😂
The bad weather seems to follow me around 🙈 Maybe it was a blessing for you guys that I didn’t arrive until you had left, otherwise I would have brought the bad weather with me 😅😅
😂😂 perfect start in this video. I just love 💕 those Winston's 🗨️💭 comments 😂😂 "next time..." Waiting for it 😅 I liked of this recap, so many places you did experience there. Sorry, that you got seasick on the way out. That motor mover looks very handy thing to have and the van and the pod looks like a cute couple there, side by side at that camping lot. 🤩 Interesting beach of flat stones, wound be perfect to throw 'skipping rocks' 😅 Thanks for this interesting vlog. I got a littele comment frenzy here 😂
We were at the same campsite just outside Ullapool in June 2019, doing the NC500 in a Romahome, then haven't been back to the UK until september this year. That took way too long.
Hiya Roz and Winston. The early morning dash to doggy toilet (and walks) in all weathers is one of the few down sides to having a dog. I loved my dogs so I was prepared to do it and wish I was still doing it with them. The weather hasn't been great anywhere this year and on your look back there were a few days of sun if only for a few hours. I commiserate with you on your sea sickness. Someone I traveled with on a ferry had it bad (and the ferry was rocking in the bad weather). Not a nice trip for them. Safe travels. See you on the next.
Winston needing the toilet in the middle of the night is one of those things that I laugh and shake my head at 😅 as you say, it’s just one of those things that you have to do when you have a dog. I was fine on the other three ferry’s, but that one got me 🤢😅🙈
That ferry crossing can be a bit rough. I take kwells every time and they seem to do the trick. Looking forward to the onward adventure. Really enjoying the videos. Thank you 🥰
Dam you looked rough on that ferry 😆 same thing happened to me going to the Isle of Man, in fact nearly every one was sick, I thought I was going to be ok until I went out for fresh air and someone was sick downwind, splatted all over me which set me off and why is there always carrots in sick 😄 Got a feeling Tobey is going to do the same to me tonight, there will be a thud thud thud 2 in the morning, him coming up the stairs wanting to go out 🥴
I was laughing when you were talking about Winston having you out at 5:30 am. I normally have Nellie out before 5 in the morning (I am an early riser) and when the time changed right at 4:00 am which was her normal 5:00 am she was crying and crying - not so much because she had business to attend to but when she comes in she gets breakfast!! We are back to 4:45 going out but it took a few days 😊Hope you get some good weather soon - we have family from Scotland here now and not far from us they got 140 cm of snow in a couple of days - power outage, roads closed, people stranded in cars so maybe the Outer Hebrides weather wasn’t so bad 😳
You never need an alarm clock when you’ve got a hungry pet wanting their breakfast 😂😂 I’ve moved to Scotland in September and the weather has been great overall 😂 It’s been cold, but still dry bright days 😃
Thank you for sharing your experiences of the Outer Hebreides. I hope to be there at the end of April / beginning of May. May I ask, at the campsites do they have drying rooms bearing in mind the climate? :)
There was only one campsite that I noticed had a specific drying room. Most of them do not, although they all had campers area which you could possible use to dry stuff. Hope that helps and I hope you have a great time.
We stayed at that site this September when we were doing the north coast 500 on pitch 17 , we had a beautiful sunset the first night we were there. Shower's were a bit cold though 😳
The owner told me that if I liked my showers hot to use the use the facilities at the bottom of the campsite near the reception. He said that the showers at the top of the campsite can be colder because the hot water has further to travel. Tip for next time 👍🏼😀
Back in 2012/3 (?) we stayed at this site after there had been gales. The owner explained how a two berth caravan close to the waters edge had been lifted and crash down on to fence posts. Luckily no one was inside at the time. Mentioning this to forewarn how exposed it can be there. (Sorry !) Thanks for sharing.
Hi Roz. Hearing you say you don’t like going back to the same place twice has made me second think my choices of travels next year. I have always liked the sense of familiarity of returning to places I really like, but perhaps I need to explore further afield. Would you consider hopping over the channel to France ?
Everyone is different; I know plenty of people who enjoy going back to the same place because they know they're going to have a good time. I will go to France once day, but I don't want to go to another country on my own with an elderly dog, so it will have to wait until now. Thanks for watching 👍🏼
It’s a mixture of bad weather and short stays I’d say was why you didn’t enjoy. I went to Scotland a few times with my job (Aberdeen) and it always rained for the weekly visits I went on. We got fed up of bad weather in U.K. on our holidays and eventually gave up and went abroad when the kids were 5 and 3 and really enjoyed. We went to Malta twice, Menorca twice then (you won’t like this) spent 30 years going to Majorca in total we went over 40 times (one year 3 times for my 50th birthday and actually had a party there organised by some Spanish friends we made) staying in different hotels but same place called Sa Coma and loved it. We got to know plenty of the locals and frequently went to the same restaurant as we got to know the owners and they used to take us out to a lovely late night restaurant in the hill over the bay a couple of times each visit. They eventually sold their restaurant and a few years later we stopped travelling abroad because it became hard work with delays and age catches up plus we had friends who looked after our various dogs over the years with their dogs but eventually they retired abroad and we wouldn’t put our dogs in kennels. You both take care and do a bike ride as I’m still ill and not cycled for 8 weeks and I really miss it.
I’m glad you had so many lovely holidays. I’ll be venturing abroad when Winston has passed. But at the moment, I don’t feel comfortable traveling in a strange country solo with an elderly dog. I hope you get better soon! I don’t think there’s any bike rides coming up soon, but paddlebording does make an appearance 😃
@ if ever you do travel abroad I can recommend Malta not many beaches but so many places to visits and if you love churches there are plenty they are full of history.
Hi Roz. I'm confused. When you finish this trip are you done? It just occurred to me, you may just disappear. I'm invested now lol. You can't leave us. 😊
My dog wakes me up to go out when he needs (we live in a flat) i get up from my warm bed to put on clothes and get ready to then find hes nicked my bed and is fast aleep.
I imagine you bit off a bit more than you could chew with the Outer Hebrides. A month as your first go, was maybe a bit much. A week or two may have been different for you.
I did 6 weeks around the Brecon Beacons in wales and was okay, so I didn’t think this would be much of a problem. I think it was just being so exposed on the islands, especially since there’s hardly any trees or shelter. Anyway, I made it back in one piece, just 😅😅
I very rarely remove the screen on the front window. Mainly because people get nosey and try to look in all the time, so I keep it up for my privacy. 👍🏼
We had the same experience on Skye 2 years ago. 5 days of wind and rain in June. Won't be rushing back! Happy trails x
😅😅😅 love him. ❤️
This is true love!
If you had bad weather then I can understand, it would ruin any holiday for me. Both times I've visited I decent weather and I loved the place, Harris being my favourite.
Good vlog Roz.

It's definitely down to the weather. Roz,2024, was yet another miserable year weather wise

Enjouing your journey so mouch.
Keep going ....
Scottish weather..! Nah..But keep plough through.x
I’ve been touring in my caravan for 37 years, but I must admit I’m a tad jealous when I watch your adventures. Can’t wait for your next episode 😁👏👏
All the lovely comments say it all…brilliant….

Good old Winston, not just my four legged friend who decides it time for his toilet break😅 at a silly time
Great to see another video diary of your trip around Scotland, they always bring back great memories of places we once visited in the 1990's.
We’re settled inside our home now 🥰
Thank you very much. I hope you’re enjoying the sunshine 👍🏼
@Roz.S Glad to hear that you're inside and warm. It's a nice December 78°/26 here this morning, so I'm having a lazy lie in, with Felix my cat. 🐈 😁
The islands have been wonderful but happy to see your back. Thanks for an exciting trip.

One hell of a journey so far Lol the best is yet to come 😊❤
Great Roz, Nice you done the look back, O yea I remember that I said.

This video was a lovely recap of all the places you have been. It's such a shame about the weather a bit of sunshine may have made all the difference. On a positive note, you have on film all the memories of your beautiful Winston. I love how he snuggles up to you ❤
Fair play Roz I love the way you tell the truth about all the places you visit. Keep it coming
Oh the joys of owning a dog. I think the weather has the biggest effect on what we all do. A wonerful vlog Roz, thank you.
Your adventures would make a great tv series
TV with it's blatant propaganda & contrived programmes has had its day.
U-tube is the place to be.

I still can’t believe you’re doing this tour in the summer months. The weather has let you down. Great journey you’re taking us all on. 👍👍
Glad you made it back to the mainland. Scotland is beautiful!
Ullapool has expanded a lot! Was there 25 years ago. The only cure for seasickness is a long sleep.
Hi Roz,

I certainly sympathize with the sea sickness. Got a bad case on the Ferry from Wales to Dublin. It's an awful feeling!! Love from London, ON 🇨🇦

Poor you with the appalling weather and sea sickness. Sorry I did laugh at you on the ferry though…..anyone’s downfall…😂 Another great vlog ❤

The bad weather seems to follow me around 🙈 Maybe it was a blessing for you guys that I didn’t arrive until you had left, otherwise I would have brought the bad weather with me 😅😅
Sat in my bay window, heating on, enjoying your adventure, thank you.❤
😂😂 perfect start in this video. I just love 💕 those Winston's 🗨️💭 comments 😂😂 "next time..." Waiting for it 😅
I liked of this recap, so many places you did experience there. Sorry, that you got seasick on the way out.
That motor mover looks very handy thing to have and the van and the pod looks like a cute couple there, side by side at that camping lot. 🤩
Interesting beach of flat stones, wound be perfect to throw 'skipping rocks' 😅
Thanks for this interesting vlog. I got a littele comment frenzy here 😂
We were at the same campsite just outside Ullapool in June 2019, doing the NC500 in a Romahome, then haven't been back to the UK until september this year. That took way too long.
Rain has ruined all this year 😭😭😭😭😭🍰🍰👍
After leaving Barra you caught the ferry to the island of Eriskay. This island is joined to South Uist via a causeway.
I was fine on the other three ferry’s, but that one got me 🤢😅🙈
Oh heck... the weather is the same on the mainland. The glimpse of the next episode suggests there might have been improvements. Fairwell islands.
Great video, makes me want to go there !
That ferry crossing can be a bit rough. I take kwells every time and they seem to do the trick. Looking forward to the onward adventure. Really enjoying the videos. Thank you 🥰
Dam you looked rough on that ferry 😆 same thing happened to me going to the Isle of Man, in fact nearly every one was sick, I thought I was going to be ok until I went out for fresh air and someone was sick downwind, splatted all over me which set me off and why is there always carrots in sick 😄 Got a feeling Tobey is going to do the same to me tonight, there will be a thud thud thud 2 in the morning, him coming up the stairs wanting to go out 🥴
Ohhh I felt rough on that ferry 😂😂 ...but at least I didn't get anyone else's breakfast on me 🙈
lol
Winston for the 🥇 🏆
I was laughing when you were talking about Winston having you out at 5:30 am.
You never need an alarm clock when you’ve got a hungry pet wanting their breakfast 😂😂
I’ve moved to Scotland in September and the weather has been great overall 😂 It’s been cold, but still dry bright days 😃
Thanks for sharing ❤❤
Thanks
You're welcome! Thanks so much for supporting my channel ❤️
@Roz.S always a pleasure.
You are the first person I have heard who did not like The Hebrides .
I’ve heard of a few people who didn’t like it, but the majority of people love the islands 🤗
@@Roz-Ventures Thank you.
Tip for next time 👍🏼😀
Winston ! Why are you lying on my coat? " Because its warm and it smells of you and I love you" Just saying. Great Vid as Ever
Back in 2012/3 (?) we stayed at this site after there had been gales. The owner explained how a two berth caravan close to the waters edge had been lifted and crash down on to fence posts. Luckily no one was inside at the time. Mentioning this to forewarn how exposed it can be there. (Sorry !)
Thanks for sharing.
Wow!! 😳 There was one windy day whilst I was there, but nothing as bad as that thankfully!
The weather has certainly been wir I ng against you. Summer? 😊
Yes, most of that was filmed in June 😅🙈
Such a shame about the weather.we went in 1982 and they'd already had 6 weeks of all to wall sun!
That was wall to wall
Hi Roz. I'm confused. When you finish this trip are you done? It just occurred to me, you may just disappear. I'm invested now lol. You can't leave us. 😊
No not done. This adventure will end and we will just start another one 😃
❤
Poor lass the weather was fighting you all the way. Sorry Scotland was so inhospitable. Not without reason holidays down South are popular.
Poohhhhhh yeahhhh 😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉
Always a regular feature in my videos 😂😂
@Roz.S I've noticed and cake hmmmm 🍰😈🍰
💚💚💚
My dog wakes me up to go out when he needs (we live in a flat) i get up from my warm bed to put on clothes and get ready to then find hes nicked my bed and is fast aleep.
I imagine you bit off a bit more than you could chew with the Outer Hebrides. A month as your first go, was maybe a bit much. A week or two may have been different for you.
I did 6 weeks around the Brecon Beacons in wales and was okay, so I didn’t think this would be much of a problem. I think it was just being so exposed on the islands, especially since there’s hardly any trees or shelter. Anyway, I made it back in one piece, just 😅😅
@@Roz-Ventures In one piece...then moved to Scotland. I blame all the Midge bites for such delirum 🤣
How long, and at what temperature do you cook the new potatoes in the air fryer?
Erm .. I would say 190 for about 20min …although I’m not quite sure. I just leave them in there until they go crispy 😅
@ thanks
Fox, ( ha ha, auto correct but I'm leaving it ) do you ever remove the eyes off the pod so you can look out the window?
I very rarely remove the screen on the front window. Mainly because people get nosey and try to look in all the time, so I keep it up for my privacy. 👍🏼
ps. First in !! 😂. is there a prize ?
Bonus points! 😂
My Shih Tsu is old with a heart condition hence diuretics. He woofs to get me to take him out for a pee once or twice a night. I am older too .....!😀👍
I reckon you have done it.
Is that rock beach hard to walk on?
Yeah, it's not easy 😅
I assume you will be glad to get out the foul weather gear.
