Our just turned 12 month old Cocker Spaniel has good recall, but it’s taken some hard work, and to be honest I don’t let him wander off too far and constantly recall him and reward with high value treats. I’d consider a GPS tracker like Tractive, much better than Air Tags which only work if there’s an iOS device close by. Also, write your stop over location on a piece of paper and put it in a little container on her collar, that way if she does goes lost and is found she can get returned to you whet you are and not hundreds of miles away to your home location ‘address’. Just change it at every stop over so it’s up to date with your travels.
You need to get your tracking done, that’s why the tyres are wearing unevenly. The higher revs is just your engine keeping the exhaust hot enough to regenerate the DPF. If you were on the motorway you would not notice. You probably had done lots of town driving just before the regen started. Come look at the NE 250 route where we live. Lots of parkups along the Moray Coast🏴🏴
The engine speed increase message means that the DPF regen has been interrupted. Nothing to worry about, it will just continue the next time you get going but if it's stopped multiple times you can have problems and might need a manual regen.
Your not being too nervous. Your good dog owners. She could come across anything. Lovely to see some beautiful Scottish scenery. Your a great family with amazing values. We love watching your adventures
Lovely to see you all again And look at the kids so happy and having a wonderful time You and rick are a credit I would like to take this opportunity to wish you all a wonderful Christmas 🎄
It is good to be nervous dog owners, it shows you care. Recall needs to be drummed in now though, retrieving something is the easiest way and will keep her focus on you. If you don’t nail that now it only gets harder as she gets older and more confident. Can wait for you Scotland tour we have spent weeks up there and it never disappoints
Hi guys 👋 I won’t comment on the tyres or rev counter because you’ve already been told in the comments. However, the scenery in Scotland 🏴 is breathtaking 😮 You’ve no idea how much I love this country ❤. You’ve also no idea how beautiful you and your family are. Much love from Philip in Ireland ☘️🇮🇪☘️👍 Oh, MERRY CHRISTMAS BY THE WAY 🎄🎅🏼🎄👍
Passive regen, keep the revs up until it completes as others have said. The tyres I'd try a slightly higher pressure. Usually caused by weaker sidewalls on some tyres and the tyre rolling on the rim more, especially on roundabouts etc. Could try a bit slower on roundabouts too see if that helps. Top vlog.👍
The DPF is a diesel particulate filter the easier and cheapest way is to drive the vehicle above 2000 RPM for about 30 miles put it in a low gear. To clear it. You can put an additive cleaner in you tank. If that don't work you need to go to garage
Just watching the lastest vlog such a shame i didnt realise you were going to be round that sort of area ive just got back from cambletown and it would have been great to meet up with you all i think what you do is inspiring with the home schooling of your kids and travelling around as you do well done. As ive said before keep it up and all of your kids are going to be unstoppable in whatever they chose to do.
That mine scenery reminds me of the slate mines around Llanberis, in Wales. Every time we visit the UK, that’s either our first stop, after getting off the ferry, or our last, before getting back on it. Often both. I’m determined to climb to the top of the steps, there, but have always chickened out, so far. Any chance you guys might pay a visit? It’s right at the foot of Mount Snowdon and there’s a rack and pinion railway that goes to the summit. I’ve climbed it on foot, a couple of times, and it’s a good workout. The trail and the stairs are well maintained and modern, unlike the miners stairs on the other side of the road. I’d love to see you guys do an episode there.
Bet the children are enjoying the window. As to cereals have you thought on magnetic in or under container and on the shelf? I find them useful. Littering is often boy racer types and campers get the blame 😢
I can't express how angry I was to see where you stopped on Mennock Pass. The spot you were going to choose was the site where a district nurse was killed in a snowstorm cycling down from Wanlockhead. There was a cross of stones there marking the spot just where the burn drops under the road. This has now been replaced with a concrete cross which was literally yards from where you were parked. The whole area has been destroyed by "campers" and it is heartbreaking to see the damage done there.
The engine needs a rejen on our lorry you some times have to set it your self and that my the engine rev will increase so if it come up let it run for a bit and might even give you count down for when it done ✔️ 😊
Need tracking done as soon as possible, tracking is out and new ones will be wrecked soon. Also once worn wonky even after tracking is sorted them tyres will still wear wrong.
I used to go there from north Yorkshire when I was in military and stay parked next to wanlock water in a lay bay gold panning. Back in 1998. Used to know Charlie and his wife who ran the lead mining museum there. Nice region
When you get the engine increase speed warning on the display, leave the engine running, its doing another DPF regen, the engine will gradually rev up, once done it will resume normal operation.
Get some Velcro strips or magnets and put them on the bottom of the cereal containers and on the shelf. Another great video ❤❤ Ps: Still not used to jacks haircut😂😂keep thinking who’s kid is that😂
TomTom takes a long time to open with a poor internet connection, but what works for me is to put your phone in airplane mode before opening it. Then you can turn airplane mode off and carry on.
Nice Pub ar Wanlockhead. I visited it last year. On my 3rd week in Scotland. Just outside Oban. Dont bother visiting Oban, Its a bit naff. Might see you on the road. Im in a Red sprinter.
Hi Guy's, Lovely scenery as ever in Scotland, Safety first wise move getting the tyres done. Bet the kids are loving the windows. Bungy cord for the cereal boxes, they solve everything 😅. Its lovely how you are with Rosie in time we are sure with training all will be good 😊. Travel safe as always 🙏. Paul and Joanne 👍 ❤️. Does truck have an engine retard lever on the steering column. If so these can be used to increase or decrease engine revs, maybe worth a look as it was on the lorries I used to drive 🤞, usually pull up or push down.
Good morning Kira and Ric and the kids I love watching your you tube videos on your you tube channel I hope every one is well and are you ready for Christmas yet lhope that you are enjoying your adventure in your new campervan and please every one please keep safe and warm please keep up your good work on your you tube channel Cheers every one

Would you consider a tracking devise for Rosie, also agree a few dog training sessions would be really valuable. She’s a young dog you will have many years so worth the investment in her now. The lunch park up in the mountains was beautiful. Noticed a stone circle on your drone footage and wondered what it was. I love how you give details and history of the places you are visiting. 😊

What brand are those coats? They look very comfy! 😊 PS, have you considered a bungee cord to stop thise Cereal boxes keep falling off the shelf 😅 love the vids, lovely family.
the engine speed is manifold braking - maybe jake braking pushing up revs to increase engine braking via manifold engine braking to take load of brakes
Don’t think so. Jake brake shuts off the fuel and the engine will stop, if you let it. It closes a butterfly in the exhaust, making the engine much stiffer to turn, due to back pressure in the exhaust stopping it pumping air through. It won’t lead to increased revs.
@@duncancremin1708 the jake brake uses exhaust gas trapped in manifold which slows the valves and pistons under exhaust pressure - the truck is at low RPM and going down hill it will rev up to create pressure in the manifold so that the Jake works efficiently - the truck will REV up to make the jake brake work it will not allow only brakes - its been a while since i drove them but I am sure this REV up is to create exhaust pressure to engage JAKE, if he is going down hill the brakes will expect help from jake brake pressure
Hi Andy. Sorry, but no. If the engine revs up, as you say, it will increase the speed of the lorry, against the retarding force of the brakes. The only way to increase revs while the Jake is active is to select a lower gear. What the Jake does is cut the motor, by shutting off the fuel and blocking the manifold outlet. In this condition there is no possible way to increase revs, without driving it via the transmission.
My son did the same thing with my daughters hair, on three seperate occasion. Little monkey he was. Haha Great vlog guys, enjoy your time up there. 🫶🙌🙏💜
You are being good dog parents keeping Rosie on lead. Until she has excellent recall (coming back to you when called) you are preventing putting her in danger. Also, some people are scared of dogs so best to keep her in sight so you can recall if others come around.

Your old tires seem to have been under-inflated, as the worn outer edges and cracks in the tread pattern are clear signs of that. Also, the car pulling to one side suggests that you need to do a proper wheel alignment and check the bushings and shock absorbers. The light on the dashboard is for the DPF, so it's time for a regeneration. 🍻
Why not train her and maybe you should have thought about the breed before you purchased a spaniel. They don’t really suit van life unless you are walking her every 2hrs for at least an hour
Our just turned 12 month old Cocker Spaniel has good recall, but it’s taken some hard work, and to be honest I don’t let him wander off too far and constantly recall him and reward with high value treats. You too! Thanks for coming over to say hi. Lovely to meet you both 👍
Could of done with getting the tracking sorted with the new tyres
Yes, definitely looks like a tracking issue. You might want to check the dampers was well.
You need to get the tracking sorted as it’s way out.😊

tracking was already done ✔️
I'm 54yrs old. when i was at school 6th yr. I did sponsored walk from Larkhall Lanarkshire to wanlockhead. 40 miles in 11 hrs 26 min. never forget.
Bet you slept well after that 💤 Good memory x
@Touringwiththekids 😂😂😂 definitely, next time your up near Whitby, drop me a text. love to meet you all.
Im a local and still go to castle corner for a weekend stop... i left england and moved to Wanlockhead 8yr ago 😊

Get the wheel alignment (tracking) checked. Wearing on the outside edge usually means the wheels are towing in.
I camp the leadhills I live just up the road. The pub let u sleep in carpark if you have been in for a drink or meal

Duct tape over the cereal containers when they're running low, give it a go 😄👍
Them new tyres will soon be worn on the outside like the old ones! You have a tracking issue or worn ball joints not a tyre ware issue. 👍
It doesn’t have ball joints , it has kingpins ! Armchair expert 😂
Have a safe trip in Scotland from Halifax West Yorkshire going to do Scotland next year with my old sprinter van good luck
Amazing, are you planning on doing the NC500?

I had the tracking done at the service last month. On reflection I should've waited until new tyres were fitted 👍
Yes, the truck needs you to increase revs, not speed, for a prolonged period, to clear out the DPF. In a car it is 15 miles at a minimum 3000 rpm.
Love watching you guys. How much does your truck weigh approx. Taking my C1+E Test as my first step to living this life.
Ours is a 7.5t. Weighed it after we finished the build and it came in at 7.2t

Just goes to show how 'low' Britain is. We stayed a night in a car park in a village in Spain a couple of years back. Altitude 4606 feet, and nothing particularly out of the ordinary! (Alcala de la Selva, Aragon).
oh wow!!! Admittedly we have stayed in some high up villages in Spain too, and you can definitely tell because of how cold they can get
Our recent Cyprus rescue (GSD/Segugio Italiano) is a terror for chasing cats, and if she scents one, she's off (never catches them, and I doubt she'd do anything if she did as she's soft as muck). However, it prompted us to get a Tractive tracker, and it's come in useful a couple of times. I'd recommend giving it a try.
We have been recommended those, does she get on okay with it? They are quite chunky aren't they'?
A tracker won't help if your dog comes across another dog or horse, no recall makes you a danger to others.
@Touringwiththekids Yes, it's fine. Clips to the handle on her k9 harness, and she's never managed to dislodge it yet even though she loves squeezing through under brush etc.

It's doing a regeneration by itself. Does it to get hot and burn the crap out. Normal 😊
