Colossus, both the 1966 novel by D.F. Jones and its 1970 film adaptation, explores the chilling possibilities of artificial intelligence gaining unchecked control over humanity. The story follows Colossus, a supercomputer designed to oversee global defense, as it transcends its creators' expectations, asserting dominance and making decisions with cold, logical precision. The novel is a tightly woven thriller, delving deeply into themes of technological hubris, power, and the loss of autonomy. Its tone is stark and foreboding, reflecting Cold War anxieties about unchecked technological advancement. The writing is concise, though at times the character development feels secondary to the larger philosophical questions. The film adaptation, directed by Joseph Sargent, translates these ideas effectively, albeit with a more visual focus on the oppressive atmosphere. The minimalist cinematography and haunting score heighten the tension as Colossus grows increasingly authoritarian. While it simplifies some of the book's more complex themes, it successfully conveys the unsettling implications of AI outpacing human control.

I love how fast technology is progressing.
Umm no that 4am recharging or when the vehicle is not used cannot be used to mine your crypto or whatever Tesla wants. That hardware belongs to the buyer 100% of the time as well as the electricity that's going into that vehicle.
Obviously it would be something you agree to or opt in to, and you would likely get some sort of payment for it.
Self driving cars could save thousands of lives.
Still waiting for Musk’s “supposed” smart phone! 😳
What smart phone? The only people talking about that were random fans. Musk said neuralink > phones
Why are you obsessed over a non-existent statement? Musk never promised or even suggested that Tesla develop a phone of any ilk.
You guys don’t remember ads for the phone in Walmart? I remember one of the stores showing off a prototype. Is this another Mandela effect?
@@BrutusMyChild Apparently so since it never happened.
@@GntlTch Yes of course, just wondering if anyone else share this memory.
Is he entering semiconductor chips industry?
Wouldn't that be insane... Tesla starting a chip factory and eventually becoming larger than TSMC.
@@77Dok77 I doubt that
@ElonMusk-z5g go away scammer
He will have the most power, fastest super computer on the planet. If you understand what the engineers have done to create this, you will understand why I say it will be the most powerful by far.
i just wish i could understand the financials of the giant tesla operation, because, i've just started to realize the rather large financial obligations tesla has in terms of maintenance and upkeep in its operations. tesla has almost as much on its own plate as elon has on his.
Interesting , Thank You.
10:36 yeah it’s kinda like a crypto mining pool except there’s real work being done
The biggest does not mean the best, besides rest of the field don't sleep. Does he have any supercomputer in the top500 ? Just like that out of thin air will see BIGGEST EM SC...just like a colony on Mars.
And I thought my multi-socket EATX project was complicated 😜
Enjoyed your videos…. Great contents!!! Thanks
YES!
Now we gotta see what the deal with Japan be.
They got a new form of internet capable of uploading and downloading 24,000 terrabytes at once!
That's the kind of processing speed that will allow a.i. and quantum computers to be utilized like crazy. Ohp nvm.
This part of the kinda stuff needed to be invested in as well as resource production.
I'm guessing most of it comes from China.
Also have to create and invest in the opposite for people to have the necessities.
What about his satellite computing power also?
If this was about self-driving it would be much more effective and cheaper to fit lidar. Unfortunately for the rest of us it's use/growth is sadly more sinister!!
In Brazil already have .of super.computing.more fast.
I live in memphis it sucks the power goes out routinely now!
How big of supercomputer can you make before it becomes diminishing returns
Unless there is a breakthrough for AI compute per watt then only US and China can play this game. And both have their own power production issues.
Yeah, but can it run Crysis?
Musk powergrid giving zero dependency from mainstream chokehold
Is it for AI managers
This one project will crash ERCOT
Good episode 🎉
He’s not building a super computer, he’s assembling a super computer. NVDIA is the one doing the building.
He is neither building nor assembling if you're going to be pedantic, he is purchasing a supercomputer.
can't wait for the " *musk builds the world's biggest fire* " video.
I want privacy not share anything with any families or anyone accept myself that would be advantage of system
As I'm single privaacy is important for me
I've been working with computers for almost 45 years and the one thing that drive me nuts is how many people today mispronounce the word DATA. The word is pronounced DAY-TAH not DAH-TAH! I've never heard the words Data Center or Data Processing pronounced DAH-TAH Center or Processing until today. Look it up in the dictionary! Listen to what the android on Star Trek name is! It's DAY-TAH!!!!
? possibly for FSD data storage, insurance analysis, Optimus iCloud data storage, and mars relay analytics, storage
This is why I don't mind spending big on The Pentagon. If WE can barely afford the latest technology, there's no way competitors can catch up!
That's why you got to move to the US man,
Maybe someday
Fantastic video! I have incurred so much losses trading on my own....I trade well on demo but I think the real market is manipulated.... Can anyone help me out or at least tell me what I'm doing wrong??
Same here, My portfolio has been going down the drain while I try trading,l just don't know what I do wrong. .
Investing with an expert is the best strategy for beginners and busy investors, as most failures and losses in investment usually happen when you invest without proper guidance. I'm speaking from experience.
I think l'm blessed if not I wouldn't have met someone who is as spectacular as expert mrs Janet..
Highly recommended🙌
Wow, I'm surprised to see Janet mentioned here as well. I didn't know she had been kind to so many people
I'm also a huge beneficiary of her..
I thought myself and my family were
the only ones enjoying Janet
