Good examples are both Lewis and Cristiano Ronaldo when it comes to taking care of their body, diet, physique and other aspects in order to stay as young as possible. Although it has nothing to do with it, people who say 30s-40s is old and you are physically weak and can't do anything really more in an active way, just have to take a look at figures in history who participated in warfare, even at an older age. Good example is Omar Mukhtar from Libya against Mussolini's forces.

Lewis Hamilton is the perfect example of a gentleman and a hero.
There should be no explanations other than excuses necessary.
He has made Mercedes the established and successful brand that it is now . Certainly not the other way around.
Mercedes should be ashamed of their treatment in the last year.
    A brilliant decision on his
    Part.
He showed his loyalty. They seemed to have misplaced theirs.
The fans will be loyal to Lewis wherever he goes.
Respect is more important than money.
In the end, the legend is made by your character.
Lewis has oodles of that and then more .
    Congratulations Ferrari!

But all love. I wish him all the best. Ferrari saw an opportunity to offer Lewis all of what Merc was gatekeeping, and Lewis said lets do it.

Mercedes have long underrated Hamilton's worth and been over-confident that promises (with narry sign of likely fulfillment) of upon retirement,
      A) 'part team ownership' and managerial role,
      B) 10 year Mercedes international ambassador role, C) multiple year contracts
Toto Wolff (who didn't get to be a billionaire part team owner and team principal by liberally sharing the corporate sponsorship billions in the sport, even with 'good friends' Hamilton), may well be now regretting not delivering for Hamilton; as the legendary 7xF1 GP WDC TITLE WINNER's shoes are likely to be most difficult to fill.
Sadly deceased MercedesAMG executive director Niki Lauda, had to make very special presentations to the Daimler Benz overlord board of directors, backed up by (a Hamilton mentor), Sir Stirling Moss, because they never wanted Hamilton . . .
Then Toto Wolff bought his way into the team and exited Ross Brawn, (from whom Mercedes bought the F1 team) and who Niki Lauda credited with convincing Hamilton to join Mercedes around the then McLaren driver's mother's London home kitchen table.
Allegedly, to placate Mercedes desire for a German driver World title victory, Hamilton was surreptitiously sabotaged with DNF's and even engine fire to gift team mate German-born (of a Finnish F1 GP WDC TITLE winning father), Nico Rosberg an undeserved World title, even though Hamilton had more race wins (10).
Mercedes failed to support Hamilton over the 2021 Abu Dhabi debacle and robbing of Hamilton's 8th World Championship title; The FiA in alleged complicity to gift Max Verstappen and RedBull the 2021 title, despite Hamilton had (according to the discarded rules) already won.
Mercedes failed to listen to Hamilton over the development concept on 2022 until it was far too late and resulted in the last 2 years devastating lack of success. The car was a dog until James Alison returned and Mike Elliot demoted.
Sir Lewis Larbslestier Hamilton MBE Hon.FREng is an unmistakable global brand, that Ferrari recognised and spent the last 3 years doggedly testing Hamilton's loyalty to Mercedes.
They have now captured him and were rewarded with an immediate celebratory 4 billion on their market share price, after announcing Hamilton's commitment to joining them in 2025.
They know that they will sell a lot of cars internationally, at a million a pop . . .
All for a comparatively lowly $100 Million p.a. earnings for (a never guilty of greed) Hamilton and maybe the multiple World Champion's limited edition of Ferrari 'LH44' . . .
It's every racing driver's desire to race a 'Prancing Horse' and wear the iconic red colour.
Hamilton gets to end his career with the 'tifosi' track side red sea chanting his name and with no pressure, for he has nothing to prove to anyone.
George Russell and ?? (and whomsoever partners him), are very unlikely indeed, to be able to give Mercedes what they've lost to Ferrari . . .and the English 'Young Gun' has a mountain to climb, to prove himself with Hamilton gone to pastures new . . .
Good luck to the now proven short-sighted Toto and Mercedes, as if the last 2 years have been difficult, then the next few are likely to prove devastating . . .

    So, Mercedes gave Hamilton
    1. No ambassadorial role ( whitch he deserves ),
    2. No multi-year contract,
    3. No championship winning car,
    4. No respect for his input on the design front , and,
    5. No support ( was left alone in Australia and Singapore).
Did they expect him to stay ? For what ?
Mercedes made a huge mistake by disrespecting Lewis this past season, taking him for granted and focusing on Russell’s losses than Hamilton’s wins. Now, Lewis is leaving. Good luck to them

Toto’s EGO is what happened. He’s not interested in giving Hamilton bigger roles in the team post career cause that’s for Toto himself. Toto is a majority shareholder holder of the Mercedes F1 team, has shares in Aston Martin and Williams. His presence in F1 is very money oriented and Lewis would cut into that imo and makes sense why he didn’t get any of the things you listed.
Another thing to note is just how much money was Lewis asking for ambassador role? If he was expecting driver level salaries that’s kinda delusional. There is plenty of former F1 drivers who are ambassadors of teams, but they aren’t asking for driver level salaries which Lewis probably is.

An also interesting point and I don’t know how much this factors into the decision but as you said Ferrari are F1 as much as F1 is Ferrari, They’ve been there since the beginning and that red car is what even the people living under rocks know to be THE car to be in but more importantly than that the culture and the exposure that Ferrari brings is ultimately about changing the world.
Mission 44 was great at Mercedes but at Ferrari it will be (to use a Cam phrase) MIND BOGGLING
The fight for justice and equality amplified and boosted by the reach of Ferrari, A whole new demographic paying attention.
All of his activism will go into a next level (maybe not immediately as he would want to knuckle down behind the visor for the first 2 years) but as a brand ambassador after he retires, His impact will rock the sport and really wake people up.
F1 marches to the beat of Ferrari and won’t change until Ferrari change.

He will need his wits about him this year and next year to navigate his past and his future because professionalism has many faces.
And no amount of history will make a difference when it comes down to it. A quagmire is still a quagmire even if the surface is covered in rose petals.

Now as his driving career comes to an end finally the opportunity to fulfil that childhood dream presents itself. The difference is Charles is less ruthless and annoying and will probably get on better with Lewis. But Charles is no joke, and that car and team is built around him.
Lightning could strike twice and he's pulled a blinder - or it could be very similar to when Ricciardo joined Mclaren and nothing clicked.

The problem here is that we are all of a sudden forgetting that this is Ferrari. They are a great brand and are improving but they've made a habit of not winning. One can't assume the signing will all of a sudden make all their incompetence which most fans were mocking them for, will just disappear. They still have to build winning habits in order to compete against the champs. Also let's not think that Charles though in my opinion is a bit too easily pushed over, is pretty damn good a driver.

  • @amintoodeep
    @amintoodeep 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

I said it on your other stream, i don't think Lewis left because of performance issues and even if he did, then a move to Ferrari is not an upward step when you consider the recent history Merc has been outperforming Ferrari.
I can understand him looking out for himself but i can also understand Merc's position. This is a business decision and I'm sure they are smart enough & know their numbers. Lewis no matter how great is turning 40, and so Merc wasn't willing to invest so much more to someone they see is at the tail end of his career.
    2) Toto hinted to it, they are looking at their future post Lewis which is not so far and when you see Merc competition, they all got young talent under 27years. So they can't justify investing so much in him. I can understand that.
These rich folk aren't rich for no reason, they make difficult decisions and i am sure they had their reasons. f1 is a business and just as Lewis was looking out of his own interest, so were Mercedes. It's a bitter reality but it's fact.
My only concern is the dynamics that Lewis is going to have to deal with at Ferrari. Once this honeymoon period is over, Ferrari culture is unlike any. I mean you have Merc mantra, no blame culture whereas Ferrari is an all blame culture. Then although charlse has his issues, he is pretty quick and a guy who has been in thebshade for that long, is not an easy opponent. I wonder how long before they have to deal with hard times of results? But all this is speculative on my part, we shall wait to see how it all unfolds.

Fair enough. But it’s also a wise business decision to ensure that your greatest asset isn’t abandoned and neglected. Mercedes and Lewis have had a symbiotic relationship.
I can understand their reluctance about giving him a multi-year contract. But why did they deny him the ambassadorial role ? Why did they reject his inputs regarding development ? And why did the garage abandoned him in Australia and Singapore ?
Without Lewis they wouldn’t have been as successful. Lewis was prepared to stay loyal, but they weren’t. I believe they will regret it

      @mrdenson3101 8 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

@@amintoodeepI agree with you that it’s a business and they had their reasons. Only time will tell whether it was a good or foolish decision. It also means that they shouldn’t blame Lewis for leaving. He has also made a business decision that favours him.
The guy is a 7 times world champion and the most successful driver in the history of the sport. And regardless of age his performance is still very solid and hasn’t declined yet and doesn’t show signs of declining . Mercedes problems for the last two seasons were with the car and leadership and not with Lewis performance. In fact he carried them last season in spite of the car and Russell’s poor performance. P
It appears that Mercedes played hardball and expected Lewis to just stay and take it. He was loyal to them and stuck by them even when they couldn’t give him a race-winning car for two seasons. They didn’t think Ferrari would respect his value and poach him.
In terms of F1 brand value, Mercedes will loose with Lewis departure because of the intangibles he brought to the team. For Lewis and Ferrari it will be a win-win in terms of brand value

Claims that Mercedes treated him poorly - I don't see how anyone can objectively say that. As far as the ambassador role goes, Mercedes is a global brand, not a British brand. Mercedes wants to sell cars across Europe, North America, South America, Africa, Oceania, and Asia. Hamilton is polarizing in F1 and isn't as popular globally as he is in the UK.

Cam, I do agree with much of what you have said about Lewis's free choice to move to Ferrari, but with 2 issues. First. Most buyers of a Mercedes have Zero interest or even knowledge of Lewis Hamilton, so the huge salary he would demand as an Ambassador is not sensible for the company. When is enough money enough? Second, if you really reshuffle the best drivers into the best cars, there would be no competition. We really do not know how competitive everyone is when the teams have such disparately fast cars. How good is Nico Hulkenberg if we will never see him in a competitive car? Lewis is extremely dominant in a good car, but the last 2 years have not even been particularly consistent. I do very much appreciate your vids - Thanks!
