    The dry shampoo segment was so funny 😂 You can really tell Blake doesn't believe in conditioner from the TERRIBLE state of her hair in the promo photos!

    • @leila_de_hautjardin
      @leila_de_hautjardin หลายเดือนก่อน +69

      She believes in masks which are just thicker conditioners. And there is a leave-in conditioner in her line. I agree that her looks bad in the ad campaign though. I can tell she's surrounded by yes-men who were too scared to tell her " listen, Blake, your hair doesn't look the best. How about we deep condition your hair, restyle it and redo the photo shoot?"

      Masks are a type of conditioner but it's hilarious that she doesn't know that. You'd think she would've at least learned that during this business venture. And I'm surprised her own stylists/team didn't tell her once. And looking at her hair, yeah, it's obvious she doesn't believe in conditioner or any moisturizing products lol.

    Fun fact: Plastic packaging is only truly recyclable if it has numbers 1 & 2 on the bottom. That's because the other numbers are not recyclable in most other North American municipalities. Now, I don't know the numbers on the bottom of Blake Lively's plastic packaging, but the aluminum tube would end up in landfills. It's technically recyclable, but most municipalities can't recycle it. My verdict, as a journalist who has covered this issue for years, is that her product line engages in greenwashing like many other companies.

    • @Ghostfriend7100
      @Ghostfriend7100 หลายเดือนก่อน

      She's just a fraud full stop. She launched a haircare line yet doesn't know that a mask is a type of conditioner. She made herself the face when her hair is super dry and looks like the target audience, not someone who benefits from her own product. Her bottle shapes are not shower friendly. And, n a promo interview, she said she copied the Kerastase formulas of their products she likes. She wanted a cheaper version.

    I work at a DV shelter and i think it would be amazing if she donated products or a precentage of sales to one of her local shelters. Blake could also be under educated about how to talk about these heavy topics and any local or national DV/SA organization would happily give education around this.
    For (maybe obvious) reasons i have not read this book, seen the movie, or followed much press. But i hope others who promoted this movie, or stared in it, remembered how these stories are people's real lives. Awareness is an amazing and completely needed! But the work doesn't end there. The goal of awarness is to create communities that are intolerant to acts of violence and abuse. 💜

      That’s true but also I feel the movie is a pipe dream, a fantasy in the end. It’s very unrealistic and doesn’t feel empowering at all. The Disney ending is discouraging because no one has all the resources, support, suddenly reasonable and agreeable abuser, and sexy ex boyfriend waiting with open arms to help her and raise another man’s baby. I think it’s a bad example and not the educational beacon of hope people are making it out to be. I can’t take it seriously at all. We need a better storyline for all that to happen

    Why would anyone have a problem with a 7/10...or any rating for that matter. It is what it is. 🤷‍♀

    • @RochelleHasTooManyHobbies
      @RochelleHasTooManyHobbies หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Because unlike a 5 or 6, where you know you wouldn't bother buying it, or an 8-10 where you definitely would, a 7 feels like an "on the fence" rating.
      My only problem with the 7 is that I don't know if she's rating it as a 7 at that price point (~$20/product) or as a 7 compared to 8s, 9s, and 10s of luxury brands that can run $30-60/product.
      It's a big difference to curly girls on a budget who can't afford to make their hair a monthly expense.

      Most rating scales are 1-5, so a 7 is mute, anyway.

    Love your hair! You look great. I enjoyed your unbiased & professional review while keeping me entertained w/ your down to earth personality. I trust your judgment and professional guidance, but I still would not put one more penny in Blake lively‘s pocket. I think your marketing ideas were more in line and more tasteful than what Blake lively did when promoting her movie about DV. Thank you!

  • @amac189
    @amac189 15 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Apparently there are a lot of people here who aren't fans of Blake Lively's hair, but her hair colour, length, and texture is similar to my own, so she is someone who I've always looked to for hair inspiration. However, it's become pretty clear that although I might want some similar hairstyles, I probably need different products. She is constantly having her hair coloured and heat-styled for press events and movies. She said that all the hairstylists in her industry only use masks, not conditioner, but that's probably just because they are always working on such damaged hair. I'm kind of surprised that these products worked this well for you, as they seem to be primarily designed for Blake Lively's hair type alone. Marketing blunders aside, this brand seems too narrowly focused to be successful.
    Also, as someone else mentioned, why do they all have different scents? Then it's weird when you start layering products.

    Ok.. first, I am not one to purchase something because a celebrity's name is behind it. I am not a movie person, so I have never even heard of this movie and I would be EXTREMELY hard pressed if anyone asked me who Blake Livley is, or anything she has done. Sorry. I'd rather read a book. ANYWAY... From the results that you got, it looks to me like it really isn't anything special. In fact, I'd argue that I have seen better results with other lines in the same price point or even drug store brands. All that being said, as someone who's hair is not a fan of heavy conditioners, it did sound intriguing to me. And I MIGHT, if I can even find it (I was in my local Target yesterday and didn't see it) try the pre shampoo mask.

    I guess I have done a good job staying away from the news and drama of this launch. "yay for living under a rock" (I'm okay with not knowing about this whole thing). Sounds like a hot mess. There have been so many celebrity releases, and it's unfortunate Blake did this to herself. There are so many other crazy things going on In the world and life I stay away from unnecessary drama. Thank you for your review and for the laugh with the dry shampoo and tiny glasses!

    Hey Mell, I've made a horrible mistake. I've been sleeping with wet hair after showering for years.. I know. I've binged your content and stepped up my game. But how do I fix my itchy scalp now? I do clarify and and diffuse now. But the itch is kinda persistent. I would love some advice from my curlqueen Mell.

    Making herself the face would have made sense post gossip girl. However, does Blake realize she has been bleaching her hair for 18 years and it is visibly damaged & dry? Y'all couldn't even market this with a wig?

    I’m glad for the neutral review. Not that I dislike Blake Lively (or like her lol) It doesn’t look too bad.
    Does the leave in potion or any other products have any heat protectant properties?
    Even though my hair can handle high heat and I have a Dyson (I also like to dry my hair on medium heat when it comes to curls) I’d rather have a heat protectant in my curl routine
