I tried two products from Cécred (hydrating shampoo and moisturizing deep conditioner). My hair loves it! The ingredients impressed me, the packaging is beautiful (and recyclable), and the scent is decadent. The products are concentrated so I used less than half of what I’ve used from other brands. That along with the results makes it worth it to me. Of course Beyoncé isn’t in need of my money by any means; but if I’m going to purchase a product, it being from a Black Woman-owned business is a definite selling feature😌 If these results continue, I’ll certainly be purchasing again👌🏽

Performance, packaging and cost makes sense, but the comments I’ve seen about Beyoncé not wearing her real hair are all laughable. How many lines do we use and don’t know pilot group or focus group results? . Too, the formulators could be completely bald, but that would never be brought up. Likely the heavy inspections are due to Beyoncé’s celebrity. And in many cases, a sour bias controls opinions. Thanks to smell for always being honest and educating us.
😭 she used a lab to make her products, patented products dont just magically happen when you have an idea. She probably used a lab that used eeoc guidelines to hire their employees( a baldie probably had a hand in it), her products have excellent products and fun packaging. Im a fan of Beyonce and happy to take Mel’s review as it is. Her expertise far outweighs my love for Beyonce’s music and life lessons for her fans. 🫶🏻 both women have beautiful hair and im excited to try the line because my hair texture is closer to Bey’s, trying to explain the “wurly”, dry, and fine hair is rough. Like the need for deeply conditioning ingredients without weight is difficult to find. She made products that work for her hair and other hair types wont get the same benefits. The scrutiny isn’t called for when she made a products for an underserved market while sticking to her beliefs.

Some of these comments are disheartening. A lot of the reviews for this brand are from African-American women/ black women in general and their reviews are just as valid as everyone else. They will have different results than everyone but that doesn't mean yall should invalidate them simply because they loved the product. They have different textures and patterns as well. You can always say you trust other people's reviews that are geared more towards your background without pulling others down.
EXACTLY! They’re basically saying that the black people are giving biased reviews just because the creator is black like them. It’s giving, “tell me you’re racist, without telling me you’re racist!” Anytime a black person does something we get this type of criticism! Not surprised. Smh
And majority of those black youtubers reviewing aren’t licensed stylists. Just consumers making reviews…so I will be taking Mell’s review a bit more serious. Because they all just reviewed how it made their hair feel and not what the ingredients or products do beyond what the instructions said. I will say I do this with any product. I always look for licensed professionals who know what they’re talking about and then I look for consumer reviews that match my hair texture and density for a more closer review. Their reviews are valid but do not hold the same weight or value.

Loved your review. I just finished using all of the products with the exception of the hair mask, will try that on my second wash week. I didn’t need half of the amount of the shampoo you used, loved both shampoos and I can honestly say that you were spot on regarding the detangling. My hair is more of the zigzag or coily texture. I have never been able to detangle my hair without a conditioner, deep conditioner and detangling spray. The rice & rose protein ritual was amazing, I used the full amount instead of half too lazy to split it. The moisture sealing lotion is great, I didn’t use anything else on my hair, and it is truly wash and go ready. I do hope they will provide refills instead of having to throw away the packaging each time I purchase it, as I am truly a fan of this whole system. I am 61, with thinning hair which I color every 6 weeks which was my reason for purchasing. My hair looks and feels amazing.

I have white causasian fine hair. I got this for free from a giveaway on craigslist lol. I had no idea about this brand. I used the clarifying scalp scrub and...I can 10/10 reccomend my hair is soooo soft and lays flat where my breakage used to stick up. I love it and will repurchase. The lady who gave it to me mostly used the hydrating shampoo as it was almost empty. I havent tried that one yet, but i am excited to.

Love the review, and all your review videos. I was wondering if you could do a 2024 cheaper options for a complete wash day. I’m getting ads for tresumees bond repair. And maybe even trying herbal essences. Like those typical ones you see. I’ve been looking for a cheap exfoliating, clarifying shampoo and deep conditioner. My hair type is exactly like yours, and have found my current products just aren’t working for me anymore. Shea moisture is my typical styler but it’s way to heavy for my hair and I’m finding so much dandruff that I don’t even style my hair anymore, I just let it be because I’m at a complete loss with my hair. ❤️❤️ Love you and your vids
What a nonsense thing to say. Have you thought that given this is a generalist haircare line that doesnt cater to just one hair type but tries to do a decent job across all that some hair types might react differently to this than others? That could explain why some people who might have different hair to yours or this reviewers might have had a different experience. So try thinking things through instead of being so reductive.
Let me say this. Anything that is to be mixed with water usually can’t be stored. It is doubtful there is enough preservatives to keep it fresh. You may be able to use distilled water and have it keep a little long. You might be able to freeze it. My point is to keep any leftovers will require a lot of hoop jumping. I think this is about 3-5 years too late. There is already so much good haircare, even from the major brands, that this is just trading on a celebrity. I think Pattern was the last celebrity brand to really make it. I think they could have innovated by selling their pretty reusable bottles and selling packed concentrates (with enough preservatives) to use as refills. I think that would have really set them apart. Edit: I was incorrect when I said “anything that has to be mixed with water can’t be stored”. Concentrated products like lottabody concentrate is meant to be stored. That is my mistake. I should say anything to be mixed with water and is supposed to be only one use generally can’t be stored. However, no matter what, use the exact mixing ratios in the instructions.
I’m confused by your comment like I’m unsure if I’m reading it right? But if I am they did respond to Mell and let her know that it isn’t designed to be stored each package is supposed to be one use and the shaker bottle I imagine is supposed to be cleaned between uses. That being said they’re pretty pricey for single use but yeah. In terms of the reusable bottle situation do you mean if they had done it to all of their products versus just the rice treatment? Cause I would agree since it would create less waste
Always love your vlogs! I tried the Cecred sealing lotion and was pleasantly surprised by it. I only had to use a much smaller amount of gel with it and got really great results. Light, soft, and springy curls! I also wished for a heat protectant. I air dried this time bcz I didn't have one!

I agree that it will be extremely difficult for them to breakthrough in such a saturated and established market. I really do think they expect her fan base to prop up the products. But to see it widespread in salons, that will be a longer term effort.
Your hair looks great using the products! I doubt I try them though. It has taken a long time to find products my fine curly head likes (your expertise/videos guided me). I'm not ready to incorporate a new product and risk breaking what I just spent a lot of time learning to fix. 😉

All those other brands started somewhere. Just because someone doesn’t like all the products doesn’t mean the their opinion is unbiased. I think that it is incredibly difficult to create a hair care line for everyone. I think that the cecred team did a great job with this first launch. The prices reasonable for the type of product. K18 is incredibly expensive and people still buy it. I don’t think people will have a problem buying these products. I can’t wait for my products. I think at the end of the day we all just have to try for ourselves. So many of us can be missing out on something that might be great for us because someone else said otherwise.

My hair is curly but also a bit kinky, meaning that the cuticle has a lot of those weird bends, so when it was long it would get quite tangled, but I always managed to detangle it even with a lot of moisturizing drugstore shampoos...I am always surprised at how detangling is harder for people whose hair looks so much smoother than mine!
Question..Caucasian woman, mostly wavy hair,has been bleached with highlights and a tiny bit of frizz on the very ends. A hairdresser told me protein was ruining my hair. I blow dry my hair maybe 3x a year, always used conditioner and stuff called it’s a ten.. she said the protein in it was drying my hair out. I always thought protein was good for healthy hair. Now I don’t know what to buy lol. I think you are very beautiful and vivacious and would love to have you as a best friend lol. I love all your videos!❤
Not Mel, and not an expert here - but some protein products have been extremely drying for my hair, too. From what I’ve read, I think it’s because I have low-porosity hair. Protein is generally most helpful for people with either damaged or high-porosity hair. My hair is wavy/curly, thick, and medium to coarse texture. Certain protein products make my hair feel like straw. But I also have to avoid overly-moisturizing products because they weigh down my hair. A little protein works for me, but needs to be balanced with moisturizing ingredients. I think Mel has some previous videos on ingredients that are protein vs. those that are moisturizing.

This line is being well reviewed. It definitely will be reached for by people of color because we know the history of their hair salon, and we also know that Jay and Beyonce are very astute business people who would not put out a substandard product. I think as this line grows it will gain in popularity. I am, however, quite disappointed at the prices. I think it's way too expensive, especially in Canadian currency. People have pointed out that the prices are on par with the industry though, but I think the industry in general overcharges. I completely agree with you about the packaging too. So unnecessary.

The best shampoo/ conditioner I've used is WEN...Its so much better on my hair & then I just put Paul Mitchell get skinny oil on the length..it really brings out my curls. I love a good product review video! You havent done one in a while and it was refreshing. So honest, but well that's why I always go to you. Love you Mell. My current situation is anything with a soft hold doesnt last and then I go for the strong hold and then my hair looks greasy and frizzy.

Love your honesty. I know a while ago Amanda had a hair transformation and I know that was a while ago but can you please do a video on that or something please? My hair is like Amanda’s before the transformation and I would LOVE to see you do a video on how her hair changed because that is what I need so desperately!! I have 2c/3a and it’s like Amanda’s “before” hair. Please do a video!! Loved your review. I just finished using all of the products with the exception of the hair mask, will try that on my second wash week. I didn’t need half of the amount of the shampoo you used, loved both shampoos and I can honestly say that you were spot on regarding the detangling. My hair is more of the zigzag or coily texture. I have never been able to detangle my hair without a conditioner, deep conditioner and detangling spray. The rice & rose protein ritual was amazing, I used the full amount instead of half too lazy to split it. The moisture sealing lotion is great, I didn’t use anything else on my hair, and it is truly wash and go ready. I do hope they will provide refills instead of having to throw away the packaging each time I purchase it, as I am truly a fan of this whole system. I am 61, with thinning hair which I color every 6 weeks which was my reason for purchasing. My hair looks and feels amazing.

Thank you for an amazing and honest review I enjoyed the ending with the behide the scenes takes 😂 I liked how your hair looked after the use of the deep conditioner soft and fluff natural curls. Btw I would never purchase these products because I have long grey curly hair for one and second it wouldn't be cost effective for me. In my lifetime I've used 100s of haircare products and I refuse to spend my $$$ on celebrity products. I have white causasian fine hair. I got this for free from a giveaway on craigslist lol. I had no idea about this brand. I used the clarifying scalp scrub and...I can 10/10 reccomend my hair is soooo soft and lays flat where my breakage used to stick up. I love it and will repurchase. The lady who gave it to me mostly used the hydrating shampoo as it was almost empty. I havent tried that one yet, but i am excited to.

My hair type is exactly like yours, and have found my current products just aren’t working for me anymore.
Shea moisture is my typical styler but it’s way to heavy for my hair and I’m finding so much dandruff that I don’t even style my hair anymore, I just let it be because I’m at a complete loss with my hair. ❤️❤️

What a nonsense thing to say. Have you thought that given this is a generalist haircare line that doesnt cater to just one hair type but tries to do a decent job across all that some hair types might react differently to this than others? That could explain why some people who might have different hair to yours or this reviewers might have had a different experience. So try thinking things through instead of being so reductive.
Why are reviews only honest if it’s critical?
Let me say this. Anything that is to be mixed with water usually can’t be stored. It is doubtful there is enough preservatives to keep it fresh. You may be able to use distilled water and have it keep a little long. You might be able to freeze it. My point is to keep any leftovers will require a lot of hoop jumping.
I think this is about 3-5 years too late. There is already so much good haircare, even from the major brands, that this is just trading on a celebrity. I think Pattern was the last celebrity brand to really make it. I think they could have innovated by selling their pretty reusable bottles and selling packed concentrates (with enough preservatives) to use as refills. I think that would have really set them apart.
Edit: I was incorrect when I said “anything that has to be mixed with water can’t be stored”. Concentrated products like lottabody concentrate is meant to be stored. That is my mistake. I should say anything to be mixed with water and is supposed to be only one use generally can’t be stored. However, no matter what, use the exact mixing ratios in the instructions.
I’m confused by your comment like I’m unsure if I’m reading it right? But if I am they did respond to Mell and let her know that it isn’t designed to be stored each package is supposed to be one use and the shaker bottle I imagine is supposed to be cleaned between uses. That being said they’re pretty pricey for single use but yeah. In terms of the reusable bottle situation do you mean if they had done it to all of their products versus just the rice treatment? Cause I would agree since it would create less waste
I agree with the waste component of your comment. Perhaps the brand can think of ways to become more environmentally friendly.
Always love your vlogs! I tried the Cecred sealing lotion and was pleasantly surprised by it. I only had to use a much smaller amount of gel with it and got really great results. Light, soft, and springy curls! I also wished for a heat protectant. I air dried this time bcz I didn't have one!

I agree that it will be extremely difficult for them to breakthrough in such a saturated and established market. I really do think they expect her fan base to prop up the products. But to see it widespread in salons, that will be a longer term effort.

All those other brands started somewhere. Just because someone doesn’t like all the products doesn’t mean the their opinion is unbiased. I think that it is incredibly difficult to create a hair care line for everyone. I think that the cecred team did a great job with this first launch. The prices reasonable for the type of product. K18 is incredibly expensive and people still buy it. I don’t think people will have a problem buying these products. I can’t wait for my products. I think at the end of the day we all just have to try for ourselves. So many of us can be missing out on something that might be great for us because someone else said otherwise.

It feels kind of unfair that everyone is so focused on the price. Haircare is far from cheap and it adds up with brands that charge the same sometimes more k18/olaplex even curlsmith is super pricey, innersense…and they don’t get the same beat down for their prices. It seems that the products are very solid
Agreed. The brand is meant to compete with high end brands therefore the quality and price are comparable. I'm confused about the intense scrutiny for the price of this brand compared to others. If it didn't live up to its claims, I could understand but this brand clearly does. It's very strange to me.
Professional brand that you would need a cosmetology license to buy is not even that expensive when size is compromised
It’s smart to focus on price. You can definitely get the best haircut for your hair at a cheap price. Don’t let anybody tell you otherwise.

I completely do not need any new hair products but I love your reviews.
My hair is curly but also a bit kinky, meaning that the cuticle has a lot of those weird bends, so when it was long it would get quite tangled, but I always managed to detangle it even with a lot of moisturizing drugstore shampoos...I am always surprised at how detangling is harder for people whose hair looks so much smoother than mine!
Question..Caucasian woman, mostly wavy hair,has been bleached with highlights and a tiny bit of frizz on the very ends. A hairdresser told me protein was ruining my hair. I blow dry my hair maybe 3x a year, always used conditioner and stuff called it’s a ten.. she said the protein in it was drying my hair out. I always thought protein was good for healthy hair. Now I don’t know what to buy lol. I think you are very beautiful and vivacious and would love to have you as a best friend lol. I love all your videos!❤
Not Mel, and not an expert here - but some protein products have been extremely drying for my hair, too. From what I’ve read, I think it’s because I have low-porosity hair. Protein is generally most helpful for people with either damaged or high-porosity hair. My hair is wavy/curly, thick, and medium to coarse texture. Certain protein products make my hair feel like straw. But I also have to avoid overly-moisturizing products because they weigh down my hair. A little protein works for me, but needs to be balanced with moisturizing ingredients. I think Mel has some previous videos on ingredients that are protein vs. those that are moisturizing.

This line is being well reviewed. It definitely will be reached for by people of color because we know the history of their hair salon, and we also know that Jay and Beyonce are very astute business people who would not put out a substandard product. I think as this line grows it will gain in popularity. I am, however, quite disappointed at the prices. I think it's way too expensive, especially in Canadian currency. People have pointed out that the prices are on par with the industry though, but I think the industry in general overcharges. I completely agree with you about the packaging too. So unnecessary.

The best shampoo/ conditioner I've used is WEN...Its so much better on my hair & then I just put Paul Mitchell get skinny oil on the length..it really brings out my curls. Occasionally I use St Tropica shampoo & conditioner it's all natural ingredients. Tfs
