Hi. Thank you for this teaching. Being " at ease ", like a group of soldiers in training who are told to relax from following instruction, " ease " allows one to return to relaxed awareness. From here, gratitude, satisfaction and fulfilment calm the mind so awareness of old habits and behaviours are seen with accepting and clear resolve. Something like that.
Hi @TimCCambridge, Thank you for sharing your thoughtful reflection. I love how you’ve connected being "at ease" with relaxed awareness-such a powerful insight. From this state of calm, we can observe our habits with acceptance and clarity, which allows us to resolve issues without resistance. P.S. Exciting News! Psychologists tend to compartmentalize forgiveness. For example, they may borrow from personality psychology and conclude that there is a trait of forgiving and a state of forgiving and these are somehow different. A trait forgiver, it is assumed, already has a personality geared to forgiving. In other words, expertise in forgiving is not forged by practice, practice, and more practice as we all have this opportunity toward developing expertise in forgiving. Other psychologists, when they do not take the virtue-ethics position, tend to think of forgiving as mostly emotional as the forgiver substitutes more pleasant feelings for the existing resentment toward an offending person. Substitution of feelings, as seen in the Joseph story, is only one part, and not even the most important part of forgiveness. Offering love in a broad sense is the most important part.
Hi @cyruscherry35, Great question! In Wu Wei Wisdom, we view forgiveness as less about a mental construct and more about acceptance. Rather than focusing on the idea of "forgiving" others, which can create a power imbalance, we focus on fully accepting the situation as it is and resolving any inner conflicts. This shifts the focus from others to your own Shen (spirit), bringing peace and clarity within. It's not about holding on or letting go-it's about aligning with the flow of life and accepting what is. Kind Regards, David facebook.com/groups/wuweiwisdomcommunity/ P.S. Exciting News! Hi @ispeedclips4u, 👋 Great question! The teachings we share on Wu Wei Wisdom are inspired by the principles of Taoism, particularly the philosophy of Lao Tzu, who is credited with writing the *Tao Te Ching*. However, Wu Wei Wisdom combines these ancient teachings with practical guidance to help resolve modern-day issues like managing emotions, relationships, and life challenges. So, while Lao Tzu’s wisdom is a foundation, our teachings also bring in other insights to help you live in alignment with your Shen (spirit) and the flow of life.
