- "I am a 27-year conductor with the same railroad company. This is the first time anything like this has happened to me while on a train. This happened while sitting stationary waiting for signal to continue westward. This happened during the afternoon hours on May 26th 2024. The Nebraska tornado outbreak. The tornado blew over and derailed 31 cars. The engineer and I were unharmed."

Apparently a locomotive is a portable tornado shelter.
Of course it is. Wind is no match for a modern locomotive sitting still.
“Tornado! “
Train engineer: “meh”.
@@tommyhunter1817 No it’s not a tornado can toss a locomotive in the air if it was strong enough.

Sounded like a freight train! Wait, we are in a freight train, sounds like a tornado! Wait we are in a tornado, sounds like a washing machine.
Good one 😂
😂😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
bruh 😂
It actually did sound like a dryer though.
Glad the engineers/conductors weren't hurt. Nerves of steel, for sure.
Brave men…kept their composure!
Whatever rail company they work for (Union Pacific or BNSF) they deserve a raise.
The train of steel was pretty useful as well.
They almost got one....@@Mrcharles.
If they didn't duck I would agree.
This is by far the calmest tornado video I've ever seen.
The sky looks clear!
Through TH-cam or IRL?
Gotta be the calmest reaction ever.
Yeah it seems calm on video
Men.
I love how calm they were through the whole thing...if anything they sounded more irritated at the end😅. Glad they weren't hurt though!!
This means we're getting overtime!
They were in a 30 ton pillbox
@@jamesbain1010 If it's one of the big mainline locomotives, that's a 200 ton pillbox.

This is one of the best up close tornado videos I’ve seen in a very long time. Glad no one was hurt.
If a tornado looks like it isn't moving, it's moving all right, right at ya. Glad no one got hurt in this one.
Now that's real news footage people...can't fake this video 👍
Incredible video..Thanks!
Calm? Absolutely ... they knew how massively heavy and strong a locomotive cab is.
Many people don't realize how fast a tornado can move when it's on the ground, until it's right on top of them.
And this pn moved particularly fast.
How many people?
Always watch the left edge💯🌪
"We're on the ground" is jargon for a derailment.

absolutely insane. this guy has a bar story/ video he can tell the rest of his life.
So if a Tornado sounds like a Train coming, does a Train sound like a Tornado coming?
Deep
The one who operates the train is the engineer. The one who handles the chores of the train is the conductor.
He was in the left seat, so it was the conductor filming
What are the chores? Dusting, sweeping, making coffee??

hahaha! 😂🤣😆😄
A stopped train can't start up and outrun a tornado. They were saved by locomotives' weight. Now they need ballistic windows.
Double pane safety glass did its job, they don’t need ballistic windows
Hockey glass
Oh okay
So glad they were ok. Its incredible.
They are lucky a cow didn't come flying through the windshield.
🤣

😂😂
Or someone's vehicle, RV, boat, etc. 😮

I've always been curious how this exact scenario would play out. Awesome video!
