I'm in the camp of "If you don't like it dont use it" there are many things in new minecraft I don't like but other people do. I would add some other crap too like hatching dragon eggs, arming villagers so they can fight, being able to craft tools/weapons/armor from more materials like emeralds and obsidian. I don't like the vibe of new worlds though, too much life and too many structures. It would probably be best if you could just pick and choose every feature that would be in your world when creating it

mobs disappearing closer when they have smaller hitboxes is actually still a thing in modern versions. I don't know about the latest version but on 1.19.2 that's still the case.

Personally, I prefer 1.0. I’ll admit Beta is fun but I really do enjoy the addition of enchantments, especially for speeding up the building or gathering resources. I also might be a little biased just because it was the first version I ever played on the Xbox, but I also really like it because there isn’t really a meta for a version that early.
