  • When I was at university I had no idea what consulting was really about, so hopefully this demystifies the industry a little bit. I also share my experience as a consultant, the things I liked and didn't like and also how I think it compares to other careers.
    But I'm now working for a TH-camr called Ali Abdaal as his TH-cam Producer.
    I write a weekly newsletter for TH-camrs and about things I learn about TH-cam working for Ali here if you're interested in checking it out: youtubehowto.substack.com/
    I also tweet about TH-cam here: / tintinsmith

    Hi Tintin! It would be nice and helpful if u could share some more info about the hiring process u went through, the qualifications needed, how did you prepare for the interview in general. I'm a new subscriber and your content is really inspiring :)

    No skin in the game is totally a tricky aspect, great perspective

    • @tintinsmith
      @tintinsmith  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thanks Tomas! Yeah I think it’s an important idea, Nassim Taleb has a book called Skin in the Game which I’m keen to read in the future, I’m sure it’d give some more useful perspective

      @@tintinsmith I think it is tricky though as having skin in the game also clouds perspective with agenda/politics/tactical mentalities - can be extremely hard to be truly strategic (which almost requires some dispassion) while you are in the trenches of a problem/organisation. Its something I think you mentioned at the front of the video around the focus of consulting needing to be on value added to clients, and having a professional pride around that and using it to create an almost virtual skin in the game.

    • @tintinsmith

      Yeah completely agree, I do mention when I talk about skin in the game the benefit of perspective which you’ve just mentioned, I think thats also really valuable

    How can you give advice without experience? You have absolutely zero business or work experience. Is this what companies pay millions for?

      That’s an aspect I still don’t understand if I’m being quite honest. This is a good video, but yeah, how do consultants, who tend to be recent graduates, lend weight to their ideas and arguments?
