    im currently going to college for business administrator and I was confused on what my job will be for a while, and i was bouncing back between accountant or real estate agent, and i knew consulting was a thing but i thought you needed a law degree, and this might just be a job for me hearing the negatives are just my everyday life. i dont know if id take the job but i’ll definitely do my internship for consulting since the experience will be the highest earned

      I am glad to hear you have found it helpful. People I spoke to had lots of different degrees before going into Consulting - Geography, Physics, Chemistry...If you are unsure of what you want to get into then consulting could be a solid place to start!

    Would like to hear ur thoughts on Venture Capital as a fresh grad career. And is it somehow like consulting but a little bit more meaningful(?)?

    • @jobsworthy
      @jobsworthy  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thanks for your message! If I'm honest I wouldn't feel comfortable giving out advice on Venture Capital just yet. I will put it on the list of professions to deep dive into, watch this space...

    You fill in the gap of knowledge that I was desperately searching for after graduation. 5 months after grad, still no interviews. Went through the Google project management course, not sure what to do anymore. Any advice on how to get myself involved with consulting without even getting hired? What kinds of personal peojects can i do for portfolio? In Europe its a bit of a different situation but still a worthy for an entry level position, I hope

    • @jobsworthy
      @jobsworthy  4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Where exactly are you in the world? I am keen to do a follow up video that can answer your questions, in the meantime I would say work on your excel and presenting skills as this will be the focus of your interviews. Make sure you highlight these skills in your CV or application. Also in terms of getting direct work experience there are a number agencies out there that consultancies use to recruit external data collectors i.e. people who will conduct interviews for their consulting projects often in a language that the consultancy team doesn't have access too.
      Sign up at recruitment companies and agencies that off short term or part time work at consultancies. Look for the term analyst or interviewer on the recruiting firm's website.

      @@jobsworthy Thanks a lot. In Amsterdam, and not from here, so language proficiency is another barrier in Europe that works in this case. Good luck with youtube!

      @@jobsworthy Do you know any examples of such agencies that recruit external data collectors? It sounds very specific yet I don't know any. Thank you

      Don't worry if Dutch or English isn't your first language they need multilingual. Have a look at company called Language Matters (look out for their contract or temporary positions), my partner knows someone who got experience at Bain that way.
      Have a look through this website:
      www.iamexpat.nl/career/working-in-the-netherlands/dutch-recruitment-agencies
      I'd recommend giving them a call after applying online. Its a people lead business so if they like you on a personal level that will help. Focus on applying a smaller number (2-3) well rather than spreading thinly across lots of businesses.
      Best of luck! My fingers are crossed for you

    If you are planning to cone to consulting for the work life balance then don’t
    You work 80% of the hours you do in IB for 30% of the pay

    this is not much money. even 190 having a MBA - given youve probably had 6 years of school and multiple entry level years. its decent. wages need to increase. however i work in tech... so i get it

    • @jobsworthy
      @jobsworthy  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I get that, there is a lot of work you put in. I don't mean to throw shade on it paying well. Just pointing out that relative to a lot of career 190 is a great deal of money

      Haha I haven't actually, but I can see how it might give that vibe. I just wanted to give a range of experiences some of which are negative. I'll be releasing some videos exploring the positive aspects in the coming weeks, so keep an eye out :)
