    I would like to try and educate people about reborns that although a niche hobby it’s one that fosters nurturing and caring and the world needs more of that and through this hobby is collectors bring that to those around us.

      Yes!! I feel like there are many people who could use the love and nurturing of dolls, if not specifically reborns. I think doll collecting, as a whole, can offer so much comfort. Creating this awareness can help many people feel secure and offer comfort to others who may need it for whatever reason. I totally agree with you!!!!

    I tell people I appreciate the art involved in creating the realism. I take some of my babies out regularly and loveit. Did not expect that I would.

      I do enjoy taking the babies out, but I don't go out often. I do a lot of online shopping. If I take the babies out, it's because I want to take the babies out... haha! I think the fact that art is involved with the reborn dolls, makes it even more special and appreciative. Have a beautiful weekend!

    I just realized I fell asleep during listening to this video, no it was not boring, I was very tired. So catching up.
    It all depends on which doll on how I use them for education. More fluid and by chance then directed, not that I haven't used dolls in an education setting, even special education.

    When it comes to educating people… I’m lucky that all I really have to do is just be my honest self. I really do have issues that prevent me from either becoming or being a good parent and I’ve never been shy about sharing them with people. Anxiety, depression… and most especially, autism. I used to get bullied so hard for being autistic and all it did was make my stubborn streak want to prove those people wrong and destigmatize at a young age. I’ve been at it since I was 12, now 19 years ago. So the behavior of doing so isn’t new to me. So now with the Reborns, I let people know that they are both an art form and a form of therapy. I tell them that these dolls have often helped people with anxiety, depression, PTSD, dementia and loss. I also will tell them a bit about my specific issues and why I have my dolls. About all I don’t tell them is information about the franchises my dolls are based on (horror films). 😂 For example, my favorite little one is Cain Jedidiah Jr. Sawyer. He’s my baby with Bubba/Jedidiah Sawyer/Leatherface from “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre”. 😂❤ I normally don’t tell anyone that when I take him out with me. Not because I’m not proud that I created his overall design (I sent it to his artist and she went off of that) but because saying “This is Leatherface’s kid”, even here IN Texas can get a few weird reactions. lol But I can’t always sit and talk, so I am wanting to get some cards made that I can hand out to help educate people about my littles.

    • @ItalianPrimaDonna

      I think that’s the cards you are going to pass out are a brilliant idea!!!!! I think alternative babies just don’t get enough love! 🥰 Even if they are horror babies but to each is own! I feel like educating about the hobby is wonderful. I can relate to your anxiety and depression. Don’t ever feel too down on yourself. I’m learning that we are our worst critics and sometimes we are too harsh when it comes to judging ourselves. As someone with depression, I understand that you can’t just snap out of it, but I try to remember that, as humans, we are largely flawed when it comes to passing judgment on ourselves. When I feel my worst, and I want to be happy…. I fake it 😁 til I make it 🥰 and then sometimes that will take just a little edge off my sadness. Thank you so much for sharing!!!!! 💕💕💕

      I love them all but alts are my absolute favorite and why I got into the hobby in the first place. 🥰 The first Reborn I ever saw was a full body silicone werewolf pup when I was 16 or 17, so around 2008 or 2009. I was at a local anime (Japanese animation) convention when I saw this beautiful gothic couple pushing a pram. I almost wigged out when I saw the wolf pup! He looked so real, I almost believed in werewolves for a minute! She invited me to touch him and explained that he was a silicone Reborn. She gave me her card and I never tried harder to keep a business card. lol 😂 I went home later that day and looked her up and the community only to realize… I wasn’t gonna be able to get one at all. lol Since then, I’ve looked up Reborn dolls on and off and daydreamed. I finally got lucky enough to start collecting last year. Still feels like a dream.
      Anyway…
      Thank you!! I’m setting aside some money to get the cards made up. I agree that educating about everything really is wonderful. Oh, I don’t exactly beat myself up… the source of my depression is more about other people not liking me. But it doesn’t keep me down because I know it’s silly. I have too many good friends in reality to make it believable. And if it does get to me, I do also fake it to make it and find that that can help!

    Hi Melissa, and baby Melissa! I love learning. I always have. This is a great choice of topic for the letter E! I like educating when and where I can, even within the reborn community itself. I'm totally blind, and periodically I will share a video about how I manage different aspects of the doll hobby as a blind collector. I actually need to update that info because there have been some new developments in technology that have made a lot of things easier and so much more enjoyable for me! I also have a big heart for representation of disability within the doll world, and enjoy educating about that in a gentle and empathetic way that also entertains, by creating roleplay-type content. I actually think your first two topics, roleplay and education, can go together so well, because roleplay is entertaining for a lot of us, and can be made meaningful when it also shares a different perspective, gives new information, or even just models a different way of doing something that might differ from our own life experience. You have me pondering other topics I might branch out into as well!

    • @ItalianPrimaDonna
      @ItalianPrimaDonna  หลายเดือนก่อน

      This is such a beautiful comment because it really embraces disability within the hobby. I feel like you can offer so much and teach us so much on how the babies help you! Roleplay and education do go together well to create awareness and show different perspectives. Thank you so much for offering great ideas within your comment! Brilliant!!!!

    Melissa, could you tell us a little bit about the Aspen and leaf story? I just went on bountiful baby and I didn’t find it.

    • @ItalianPrimaDonna
      @ItalianPrimaDonna  หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      It is a little triggering....
      DISCLAIMER!!! TRIGGERING STORY BELOW:
      Aspen and Leif are real life twins. Bountiful baby made their sculpts as realborn kits to distribute for consumers. Right before they released them to the public for purchase, the parents came forward to say that their Leif had passed away. Bountiful Baby stated they would not sell the kits to respect the family. However, the parents came forward and stated that it would be okay and to go ahead and sell the realborn kits to the public and Leif could live on.
      It's a sad story, but it is a story about kits, nevertheless.. and a real family life story.
      I hope you have a beautiful weekend!!!!!

      @@ItalianPrimaDonna ya I have an older baby, I think she's a Bisque doll.

  • @karlasbunnytrail

    So every year I take a few dolls with me to the 4th of July celebration. This year one of my older kids made the comment "oh gosh my brought her dolls again" it didn't bother me. I told them the older I get I just don't care what people think of me. Then today the day after I was thinking........them saying that was nothing about how mom feels but how they feel about mom and her dolls. In other words I think it embarrass them. Now that does bother me. What mom wants to do that to their kids. Maybe I'll educate my older kids on why I got into this hobby. However I will say that having 6 babies at the show was for me and Aurora and I really didn't consider the other kids feelings. I'm torn between doing what makes me happy and not embarrassing my older boys that are 22, 24, 20 and 12 plus their spouses

    • @ItalianPrimaDonna
      @ItalianPrimaDonna  หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      You know what? That is definitely something to consider. I get that! Maybe talking to them and having the discussion on how the dolls make you feel just might help them ease the embarrassment! Surely, you going out alone with the babies isn't an embarrassment for them since they aren't with you? I only have my 18 year old and he doesn't always go out with me when I take the babies out. I'm usually alone.

    • @karlasbunnytrail
      @karlasbunnytrail หลายเดือนก่อน

      @ItalianPrimaDonna after thinking about it I kinda feel selfish. I just didn't think it through. Lol it went over my head. Now my oldest daughter that's 26 doesn't mind and Aurora loves it. My 4 boys between them get embarrassed. Dang what a lesson for me. Stinks when the parent realizes they were in the wrong and only thinking of themselves. I'll have to apologize to them and explain why I have them besides just fun.
