I have had hands on with the Zenith and the quality was pretty unparalleled to anything else I have had in hand. They definitely seemed a step above anything else I have had in hand. I think a lot of people sleep on zenith but are starting to realize that they offer
I have the AP 15500 and tried the Zenith at their boutique a few months ago. Exact same quality at a much better price. It was honestly kind of shocking.
Hi guys, you need to also look at the lug to lug on the AP. The angle of where the case meets the bracelet on the 39mm is different to the 41mm and surprisingly makes the lug to lug slightly longer than the 41mm. If you are able to get a jumbo, please compare side by side on the wrist.
Nice banter guys, came upon your channel, out of the blue. Had to subscribe. Love the AP in 37mm as I have a smaller wrist. Can I afford one ? Oh Hell no. However, one can admire from afar. Kind regards from Australia Rikki.
As far as interesting dials go, the Zenith wins over the AP hands down. There's just too much empty real estate between the center of the dial and the 6 o'clock index. I own both of these pieces and from a technical an esthetic standpoint, I don't think the AP is 10x the watch.
@@rey_s90 the AP wears much bigger as the lugs protrude at an obtuse angle. The Defy's lugs drop down and contour the wrist for a much more comfortable fit.
Did you find any issue with getting a perfect fit on the bracelet? It doesn't have any half links. I'm thinking of getting this watch but hesitate because I can't try it anywhere locally.
Im not gonna go for the price since Zenith will win ,but im gonna go for the main specification vibration per hour AP Royal Oak is 21,000 vph Zenith defy is 28,000 vph That's gives you a hint which one gives you more accurate time
The ap has 28800 vph as well. As far as accuracy is concerned my 10 dollar casio is way more accurate than either of them, doesn't mean that it's a better watch, idiot.
I absolutely love the Zenith Defy Skyline, and I would love to get this timepiece and just wear it with that sporty abandon it inspires, but since I need to consider that my pockets aren't that deep I will probably opt for a Rolex Oyster Perpetual. In other words: Buying luxury watces for the fun of it is not an option for me
Greetings from your neighbouring country! Nice channel, guys! I have a question. Do you know what kind of strap options there are for this Defy Skeleton version? Leather in many colours? Rubber?
The AP is wildly over priced any way you look at it. The Zenith is one of the most underrated watches that exist, and few would pick the AP over the Zenith if they had no idea as to their differences in cost and hype over AP. I have the Zenith Defy Skyline and it's top tier quality for a fair price for such quality. I hope Zeneth remains underappreciated as it keeps the prices down!
Value vs exclusivity. If ur talking value, you can have a case of many other good watches that tell time perfectly and might look like a fine watch from far to many ppl for the price of just an AP bracelet. If able and can afford it without hurting anything, don't settle for less. You will know and feel the difference and that part is priceless. Enjoy
Great video guys, and interesting comparison! A question: I'm considering the Zenith but the fact the lugs aren't part of the main block (as in the AP) bothers me a little since it doesn't feel as integrated. You can see on your video that there are alignment gaps. Do these detract from the experience?
@@rey_s90 I've since bought this watch and can reassure you, it doesn't detract from it at all when on the wrist. It's a beautiful piece and wears SO well
...And worth noting that my watch doesn't have the alignment issue like the one on the video. I'd say the top lug is a fraction of a millimetre off being aligned with the case, but that's it
@@eus9 thanks for your response paul, after seeing your comment and this video I actually went back to look at pics of when I tried it on, and it was ok, it seems this one on the video was a bad example, I’ve been on the fence for a while but think it may be time to just bite the bullet as it will only get more expansive of anything.
Unfortunately, the world AP market has discovered the perfect size proportions of the 15300 39mm Royal Oak… I watched the values of this lesser known discontinued reference go from low 20’s to high 60’s in less than six months… So disappointing
The AP is better and that is the one to get if we ignore the price. The AP is far better looking but the price is outrageous and it is hard to get hold of at the AD.
By no means any kind of AP slayer. I had one, got bored of it quickly and flipped it within 6 months. Hard to tell time and most polarising watch I have ever owned
@@michaelbishop9157 I can see why you feel that way. The design is certainly out there. Even AP produce some crazy skeleton models. I think this is one for a larger watch collection not as a single watch.
Well I don‘t see a 10-carat diamond here. All I see is two identical diamonds with different brandings and different price tags. Quality wise the Zenith is just as good as the AP.
@@stevebullit7560 the AP is hand finished to the highest standards of the Swiss Watchmaking Industry, Zenith is probably finished by a machine. Sure, Zenith offers better value for money, but still, it is not in the same league as the Royal Oak.
I like the Zenith, but there's a glaring fault from a design perspective. The integration of the case to the bracelet is poor, the lines on the case simply do not line up properly. I own an AP RO Chronograph in 39 mm and the bracelet integration is far superior. The Zenith on a rubber strap is better visually for me. I agree about the larger size of the AP, to me the 39 proportion is more cohesive, but just me!

Zenith is really nice. I’m not a fan of AP due to the current prices but this Royal Oak is admittedly gorgeous.

The defy is not 9.5mm thick…its 11mm (I have one).
Including the Bezel i guess?
I hate skeletonized dials, but as a piece of jewelry, the Zenith is great looking.
The price points are so different -does this discussion make sense?
You should review Royal Oak with Defy Skyline blue :)
Love what ifl does
side by side??
The defy every day.. especially for the lug to lug..
Chopard Alpine Eagle is the integrated bracelet that kills both of these.
Nah, it is a nautilus rip off. Doesn't even come close to the zenith, let alone killing the royal oak.
