You know what I find unique about this music? Most epic final bosses almost always have organ or a choir but this one is still really epic yet it has almost every instrument except organ or a choir.
One of the best last boss themes ever created, even the soundtrack in the whole game is the best, truly a masterpiece, and one of the best. Why can't they make soundtracks and boss battle theme like this anymore? It fucking plays with your immersion and emotion to just say it reaaaaaaaaaaaaly fucking careful. Grant knew how to make game music, and he still does, the man is an pioneer in gaming music, and he should teach people how to make really good game music, and i believe he have, with thing of the influence he made over the last 25 years or so, players are influenced by it. Grant is the former Rareware, and he always will be, because he is 50% of the classics we listened to, just by implacing the godamn music. Sorry about my emotional writing, i doubt that anyone will read this, cause most of you are here to listen to the best gaming music ever made. But if you do, you know why you are here, and so am i. -Tomatopower
Loved this battle and the music is perfect for it. The fast pace gives the feeling of "this is it" you know this is the final battle, and ominous orchestra brings a sense of dread and the scope of Grunty's power despite her prior silliness, she's not pulling *any* punches and is gonna destroy you if you're not careful and keep moving, with segments that are remixes of the other levels' tracks which gives a feel of remembering everything you've learned up to this point to win. Seriously, this is easily the most epic final battle in the classic RARE games for me.

The Nintendo 64 game console always did have THE BEST music themes! Just listen to ALL the different musical elements! A symphony of true art at its finest! Bravo Nintendo!
If you're a serious fan of music from video games, I reccomend expanding your search... There are plenty of amazing concertos out there. For instance, the Ranger's theme from Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

This boss was so damn hard! When I finally got the Jinjonator out of his block, I screamed "YES!" at the top of my lungs. This theme is really epic now that I listen to it though. Brings back some Jinjonating memories. Good thing that last spell didn't hit me!
They made a remix of some pieces of the game and made it sound epic. THIS is the meaning of boss music itself! It's the thrill, memories of every level because of the music, all you've gone through, now facing the final boss! Truly amazing, this feeling.

Oh god now I know what I'm doing tomorrow, playing Banjo-Kazooie. It's been ages since I beat that game, and since I can't re-enter the boss battle, time to hook up the N64 and play through it on one of my unfinished files.
I beat this game last month. I originally got it for my 7th birthday. (I'm 17 now.) I played this game a ridiculous amount. I got the game for XBLA, and that's where I ended up beating it. Took me a decade. But beating this game was probably the best I've ever felt finishing a game.

Banjo-Kazooie's Nuts and Bolts is a total fail when compared to Banjo-Kazooie and Banjo-Tooie. That, and the RROD, is why I'll never get an Xbox 360. Because not only does it fail when you don't want it to, It rips off other systems to get game schematics so they can please the Oh-so-many graphics whores that comprise the vast majority of the Xbox 360 audience!

I'm now almost convinced that Rare makes their music by joining together tunes and snippets from some sort of internal sample library and putting them all in the same key.
(part 3) companies such as Capcom and Rare are still good they were when in reality said companies have fallen short from their former glory. Don't get me wrong, today's games have alot to offer whether you're a casual gamer or hardcore. Heck, I play Cosmic Break, Disgaea those came out in this decade but you can't compare this day and age with how things were back then. That's like saying Justin Bieber is just as good as John Lennon. Now if you'll excuse me I'll Mario Kart with my gf. ^^
(continued from last comment) but yet we have something as trivial as the Mass Effect 3 ending where people hated so much that they riot to the point where they annoyed Bioware and ended up getting what they wanted. Plus MvC3 is NOWHERE on par with MvC1/MvC2, quality, gameplay-wise and the overall direction in which Capcom had taken that game. Sure, there will always be bad games like Atari had ET, N64 had Superman, but by saying that 2012 is just as good as say 1998 or 2002 you imply that
Heh, you just added a Capcom game to your modern collection. I'd expect CoD on that list of yours 'cuz that's also modern but I'll have to disagree with you there. I mean take a look at Capcom and what they're doing with the Mega Man franchise and their fans. 3 (or probably 4 if Rockman iOS joins that list) Mega Man games were cancelled including the long awaited MML3, over 100.000 people did everything they could to revive the latter only to in the end fail miserably
i wouldn't say that today's industry sucks. it's just uninspired for the most part. the reason old video games were so good is that we didn't have the technology to create amazing graphics, so instead they had to use creativity. Skyrim is a great game and is very creative, but the fighting is dull. There's barely any strategy. Just press the R or L button repeatedly. That's probably the one single thing i dislike about the game. Also the fact that you can just change the difficulty instantly
I quite agree. Games like Halo and CoD are just so fucking overrated, plus I hate them, with the acception of Team Fortress 2. People who never grew up past the times of Nintendo 64 will probably never understand or appreciate the awesomeness of certain puzzle/adventure games such as B&K Plus, I've played the Banjo and Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts... Why, Rare? You were doing so good, and then... this! They gave into the pressure of making a customization/racing game for this crappy generation.
(others like Nipper are more like minibosses) anyways I didn't get all 900 notes until way after I had gotten pretty much everything else in the game (I was having so much trouble staying on top of the boarded up house's roof on Click Clock Wood I never got them for the last battle) so by the time I got the extra energy it was basically useless at that point but I had at least used up the last four jiggys that needed to be placed in the final picture and had just the two left at last.
also your energy was involved in the quiz so you could save yourself if you were doing poorly. Also I did manage to get all the Jiggys before I got all the notes, (in fact I had to go through the whole Gruntilda final boss without the extra red bar, and come to think of it I don't think there are any true traditional bosses besides Grunty herself she seems to have the only difficulty and the fight with her seems to be the only way a traditional boss fight works (others like Nipper are *2bcont.
I enjoyed Tooie's Tower of Tragedy quiz as well but it still would have been nice to replay Furnace Fun in Kazooie and also there were those timed physical (well for Banjo and Kazooie anyway) puzzle tests that took place in this quiz (though to be honest I found most of those rather annoying in the quiz rather than fun as they were back when in the worlds but it was still cool to see they added more than answering questions) and also your energy bar was involved with that one so *2bcont.*
I remember I would want to go back to where the final battle took place at the very top of the tower if only just to fool around and look around without even fighting Gruntilda but all that happened when you went back to Dingpot to have him fire you back up there was the cutscenes showing the Stop n Swop items and Grunty swearing she'll be back, I also would have loved to replay Furnace Fun because there was just something about moving across the place like a board game that I liked *2bcont.*
Yeah that or had no proper way to listen to all the game's music without hacking or erasing it to do things over, why couldn't they have had something similar to the Jukebox in Tooie where it drowns out all the sounds and plays only the music from the game you've unlocked. Also there was plenty more I wanted to do that Kazooie didn't do that Tooie let you, a couple of examples, I really wanted to go back up to where the final battle took place if only just to fool around *2bcont.*
I remeber how many times I lost this fight before winning when I first played this game when I was younger. I had to do it without the extra red health bar because I didn't have enough notes for that last note door. I eventually did win though. Its really hard without that extra health bar, I wonder if I could still pull off getting all the notes and Jiggys before this fight still? Because I was able to do it during some of My other playthroughs.
And the music just says I'm going to kick your a**. You have no chance, and it just gets that excitement in you going and strives you to come out of it the winner after your long journey. It makes you want to not want to fail after coming so far. Anyways yeah, do you know the spell Grunty fired at the end was actually supposed to hit Banjo and Kazooie and transform them into frogs. You'd play as Tooty on a mission to change them back. Oh man I remeber how many times I lost *2bcont*.
Ack, I meant to hit reply, not spam X( The gameplay shouldn't be too different; there are ways to work around the vehicle thing. I'm just going to make a pogo stick and add a basket to carry jiggies, and that'll be it. Pogo sticks are pretty Banjo-ish if you ask me, and then for flying I'll make a DKR-esque biplane. The one thing that bugs me is how they took out Kazooie's moves... whoa huge
Came here after listening to the count groxia theme from smiling friends. Having never played the banjo kazooie games, i just wanted to see if the final boss theme would sound similar since people said it (count groxia) wouldn't sound out of place in a banjo kazooie game. I can kinda see what people are saying
Of course its longer, has loading times everywhere and half the gameplay is listening to characters talk. I'm not saying you can't like the game, but just because its longer doesn't mean its better by default. Besides, if someone finds the gameplay of it boring, the longer it is the worse it is for them.
OH, you sniveling, little pup! Have this bolt, I'm speeding up! Did you hear that lovely zap? I got you through that little gap! I'll send a magic spell your way. It's SURE to hit, oh, happy day! Your Jinjos really are a joke! Now, watch your lives go up in SMOKE!! Hear it sizzle, feel the pain! YOU'RE OGING TO LOSE A LIFE AGAIN!!
I love this game and the N64, but come on. Quit bitching about how Rare went to Microsoft and how it would be SO much better if they stayed with Nintendo. Seriously. I love replaying these games in HD on my Xbox, and a handheld BK game would be terrible. Although I'd like Banjo-Kazooie as a playable character in SSB 4...
@ericmarshall19 actually, microsoft only PARTIALLY owns rare. notice how rare made gba games? microsoft has no handheld of its own. as long as thats so, rare can make as much games for handhelds as they want. pray microsoft keeps there filthy hands off the handheld market. there may be hope yet for banjo-kazooie fans....
@Luis0J not really. cuz yeah the hey days are gone, but it provides fond memories. Nostalgic memories. Next time your with a group a freinds and the topic is video games, mention the n64 and the conversation will mention banjo-kazooie. and those conversations of remember the good times is why i liked growing up with these games being in my childhood
Actually there has been another DK game. It's not 3D and its different from Rare's style, but Jungle Beat imo for the wii wasn't bad. I don't know whether or not you would like it because there are many reasons to love or hate it. DK is the only character you'll recognize even though there are some elements from DKC.
This HAS to be one of the funnest final bosses of all time! Much better than Tooie! Overall, I'd say Tooie was a better game, but the final boss of Kazooie was a lot better! I remember how hard it used to be for me as a little kid, now I'm nearly 14, and I can beat that Grunty idiot with ease. CURSE RARE FOR THE CONCEPT OF NUT & BOLTS!!!!!!
It is basically flying around in Spiral Mountain trying to blast Gruntilda out of the air... - No awesome cutscene - Set in the happiness of daytime and sunset - Music sounds like regular ol' boss music - No Gruntilda's ultimate attack It fucking sucks. No originality. Rare has lost it. Although it is Microsoft's fault that Banjo and Kazooie was killed
Indeed. It was annoying. In fact, driving your vehicles through the overworld map was dreadful. I just hope they make another B&K that ISN'T about racing... or an FPS or any genere overrated today. Or at least they should re-release the original B&Ks and they took away all the original moves for the poor Bear and Bird! :(
@crazyraichu02 what a novel idea! i mean, both bk and dk64 play similarly (collect items, gain abilitiies, exploration) heck, they have the same composer and the tracks themselves have the same type of instruments. even fungi forest was origionally was supposed to be in bk but got moved to dk64.
Does anyone else think that B-K end boss was one of the best of any game? It was a good challenge, but not too much, plus it was really cool. I didn't really like the sequel's end boss - great game, no doubt, I just thought the end boss was a bit of a let down.
For any fans of The Office... Nuts and Bolts is just like Steve Carrel leaving The Office, and Will Ferrel taking over; it'd be an interesting show to watch, but it can't replace the legend that was Steve Carrel. I own a 360 with BK, BT and N&B (the only which I have not yet finished)
so are you stating that any 3d platformer on nintendo is a rip off of mario 64? if your not saying its a rip off of mario 64 for the fact its a 3d platformer... then what reason. dont get me wrong though.. i love mario 64 i just dont see this as a rip off of it.
I saw that, but why in the world would I get it if I still have my N64? Although that doesn't mean I disclude people without the N64, but the least they could've done is made the remake with 360 graphics... and they ripped out Nintendo's name and replaced it with Microsoft's...
Aha, a fault of your own, not ours. Hence, indeed owned, and you have no right to belittle me for pointing out your flaws. If you cant handle the criticism, either stay of the Web or remember to fool-proof your arguments before mashing the 'send' button. Thank you, have a nice day.
You wanted a "game that was already out" in the first comment, then switched to a "game that come out around christmas time" in the next. Please, don't switch arguments simply because your too dim-witted to win them. ;) If you don't recall this then im more than happy to Copy + Paste...
I beat Banjo Kazooie last night for the first time in 9 years. Hearing this song again was awesome. It's amazing how even after all these years, Banjo Kazooie is still extremely fun to play. Banjo Kazooie > Super Mario 64
I have this as my "5 minutes before bus arrives alarm" lmao
Geeeez
That sounds stressful but that would totally be my kind

You mean Rare...

One of the finest and well crafted video games ever made
It's sad to see how Rareware is now starting to slowly fade

This poem defines Rare
"Listen bear, to this epic song! Think you'll beat Grunty? You're very wrong!"
If a game has an arrangement of "Teddybears' picnic" as the final battle theme, there's no arguing against its badassness.
Absolutely epic. Thanks for the music.
And yep, the final battle against Gruntilda is one of the best in Gaming history.

if you haven't played this game yet. go try it. the game is amazing in my experience
They didn't have to compose a boss theme both catchy and masterful.
But Rare did it anyway, throwback tunes and all instruments harmonize together.
You cannot recreate the feeling when you for the first time ever launched yourself up with Dingpot to Gruntilda, and this masterpiece started playing, starting the grand finale.
banjo and kazooie is one of the best games ever

yeah I suppose they did put sonic too and he always belonged to Sega. I don't know how exactly votes work there.
I thought I was the only one who thought this. glad to see in not. though thered need to be a petition to borrow banjo from Microsoft
I agree! I think BK was way better and popular when it was to Nintendo before
This would be awesome music to fight with in Super Smash Bros. More reasons Banjo should be in smash...
This and the Banjo Tooie final boss music are so epic
"Hmm, today I'm going to compose a whole-ass symphony."

I am the jinjonator, activate me...... I lol'd so hard XD
The theme indeed is quite catchy
But it doesn't compare to Mr. Patchy.
While he isn't the boss of finality
He can and will cause quite a calamity.
While in my opinion Tooie is a better game than Kazooie (both are great mind you), Kazooie's final battle song kicks the crap out of Tooie's.
@Gelatop Mass Effect, Wind Waker, Ratchet & Clank, Beyond Good and Evil, BLACK, Modern Warfare 2, and every game Square has ever made.
I still remember getting to the final battle with my brothers, and the satisfaction of finally beating Grunty. Great times.
Rare are long dead anyway. They deliberately ignore their fans so as to focus on making the blandest kinect bullshit possible.
If someone made a not-for-profit fanmade Banjo Threeie, would Rare DMCA it? If not, calling a joint meeting of the fans!
hell, if i won the lottery I would buy rare from microsoft and sell rare to nintendo for free just for some new games
(part 3)
companies such as Capcom and Rare are still good they were when in reality said companies have fallen short from their former glory.
(continued from last comment)
but yet we have something as trivial as the Mass Effect 3 ending where people hated so much that they riot to the point where they annoyed Bioware and ended up getting what they wanted.
People who never grew up past the times of Nintendo 64 will probably never understand or appreciate the awesomeness of certain puzzle/adventure games such as B&K
Plus, I've played the Banjo and Kazooie: Nuts and Bolts...
Oh man I remeber how many times I lost
*2bcont*.
Ack, I meant to hit reply, not spam X(
The gameplay shouldn't be too different; there are ways to work around the vehicle thing.
- No awesome cutscene
- Set in the happiness of daytime and sunset
- Music sounds like regular ol' boss music
- No Gruntilda's ultimate attack
It fucking sucks.
Or at least they should re-release the original B&Ks
and they took away all the original moves for the poor Bear and Bird! :(
@Nakyska Yeah that's my favorite part too. But if you listen closely, it's the same tune for rusty bucket bay
@crazyraichu02 what a novel idea!
i mean, both bk and dk64 play similarly (collect items, gain abilitiies, exploration)
heck, they have the same composer and the tracks themselves have the same type of instruments.
even fungi forest was origionally was supposed to be in bk but got moved to dk64.
Please, don't switch arguments simply because your too dim-witted to win them. ;)
If you don't recall this then im more than happy to Copy + Paste...
I beat Banjo Kazooie last night for the first time in 9 years. Hearing this song again was awesome. It's amazing how even after all these years, Banjo Kazooie is still extremely fun to play.
Banjo Kazooie > Super Mario 64
