I personally wouldn't trade the M1 for the M2. From the reviews I have seen /read I would rather stick to the m1
Most of the people who reviewed this macbook when using Max processor talked about battery life, they don't read the fine print. It's says Pro chip whereas it can do up to 22 hours, not the Max version. Please and please don't confuse your viewers

I upgraded from a late 2013 16” MacBook Pro to the new 16” M2 Max MacBook Pro. The difference is night and day. However one thing I think Apple is not doing very well is the trade in. I tried to do a trade in for my old MacBook and they basically said we’ll recycle it for you. My old MacBook may be worthless to Apple but giving older macbook owner like myself a trade in value would entice them more to buy a new M2 MacBook Pro, especially when the prices here in the U.K. have gone up by almost £500 for the 38GPU M2 Max

I have the 16" M2 Max with 32 GB of RAM and a 38-core GPU. This thing absolutely rips through the most compressed formats on my FX3 in Davinci. With the addition of HDMI 2.1, this is now the perfect laptop for me. Don't see myself needing to upgrade for 3+ years.
3 years?! More like 6 years with that overkill configuration even in professional environments.

I ended up getting the m2 pro max 16 inch because I had some gift cards plus student discount that would bring down the cost. I’m actually really glad I did this because I truly feel like this is a laptop that will stand the test of time. I feel like there was a span of time where I purchased three laptops over a year and half because they didn’t meet my needs and couldn’t handle my workload. I’m not even doing anything crazy. this laptop is incredible and I’m super pleased with it.
I’ve finally pulled the trigger after watching probably every single video on TH-cam on this topic and got m2 max MBP 14” - couldn’t be happier!

I have the M1 Mac Mini and it's been a great little system. I do wish it had a little more horsepower for video editing. It can kinda get in it's own way at times if I start adding effects to my clips.
I'm gonna wait until at LEAST the M3 Pro/Max Macbook Pros to upgrade.

I have since 1 month the new MacBook Pro 16" M2 MAX (the most powerful one) with 64GB of RAM and 2To SSD and I'm in love with it!
What a beast, especially when I compare it to my previous 16" Intel MBP from 2020.
Heat is gone, fans are dead quiet, MagSafe is back, SD card port is bask, TouchBar is gone : what a machine!
I just bought the same thing you have but with only 2TB storage. I’m a big fan of storing apps and documents on a portable HD. I can only imagine that running Finale/Logic Pro and Vienna Symphonic Library will be insanely smooth now.

Careful, it's hard to recommend the base 512GB SSD since it's only one chip, and it's approximately half the speed of the 1TB option. Users who seriously need the juice that a MBP can give should avoid the base SSD like the plague. I would have expected you to mention this!

His personal recommendation is for everyone else who doesn’t fit that profile-those who might be purchasing it for school or for other non-power-necessary use cases.

got a 15 and half windows del gaming laptop from 2019 it mostly use as my main pc nowadays in the living room attached to a 75 inch 4k tv set to display 1 window settings might be called something different on apple laptops
The m2max is relevant only for GPU tasks thanks to moar coarz, otherwise most tasks can barely saturate 200GB/s bandwidth which is what the M2pro offers with an identical CPU.
BTW thinking of getting a 2tb 64GB M2 Pro Max 14” (30 GPU cores) shortly :)

I ordered the 16 inch maxed out m2 max with 2TB SSD a few days ago and I'm from Toronto
Baller.
Tons of reviews showing the 14" with max pro overheating, and fan noise. I think base 14" w/M2 Pro is sufficient, and max out the ram and SSD.
If you use a fan control when you are doing heavy workload, and start the fan before you run the app, then the Mac does not reach the high thermals it does when using Apple's fan curve.

Everyone is giving advice about getting an external hard drive, but why? An external hard drive is cheaper, yes... but on a portable device carrying around an external hard drive is bulkier and it is also slower than the internal hard drive. I think if you are going to pay for an external hard drive just pay the extra and get the bigger internal hard drive, save on the bulk on a portable device. I can understand an external hard drive for the stationary mini or studio since they don't move and bulk is less of a problem.
The Apple Tax on the RAM and Storage is crazy and probably not worth it in most cases. Its more cost effective to get (even high speed) external SSDs
Seprare storage is a lot more flexible as well, will work with multiple devices (If formatted correctly), making switching devices when youupgrade from one machine to another much easier.

i got the fans going on this bad boy within 5 minutes of downloading chrome and adobe programs at the same time lol, also tried running some ai on it and it maxed out its fan speed hahaha, they'll eventually get there, looks good though

@@purplecorpse4230 M2 max 14” 64gb ram, Diffusion Bee is a mac visual Ai that runs off your own max and not off some GPU farm. Used about 42gb of ram each time. The battery dies in about 2.5 hours. Very sad laptop

How much money are you making if you can casually drop 3k plus dollars a year on just a laptop?
I bought one the other day. Only 32gb ram which should be good for me. It was close to $4k after taxes. But I bought it casually and instantly bc it's a business expense and it can earn that money back in a couple days.
