When you say 1 in 10 on death row are innocent, are they innocent of any crime? As far as I know people don't get sent to death row on their 1st murder, unless it's a multiple. Most or all people on death row have committed previous murders and rapes, so if 1 out of 10 are wrongly accused on their LAST murder, does that mean they are innocent?
If someone has already committed a murder, than they can never be innocent ever again. Also, when you say innocent, is that because there is proof of their innocence, or absence of absolute poof of guilt? These two are not the same thing. If someone is on death row because of circumstantial evidence and also because they have committed a previous murder before, than that person is not innocent.
And why does the method of death matter. The dead are equally dead no matter how they died. And none of these methods are drawn out torturous deaths like the Romans used to do.
I'm not making a moral judgment either way, just trying to point out there is hypocrisy on this issue on both sides. Why do liberals show so much empathy towards those on death row, who all have previous criminal records, while no empathy for their previous victims? Do the victims not matter?

Sometimes it's necessary in extenuating circumstances such as the girl is underage, say 12, and can't conceive yet, or was raped by her brother (does happen, you should know), or father, and the baby wouldn't be viable or have any semblence of a normal life. Or the pregnancy would put the mother's life at risk. But, you sickos don't give 2 fucks about that do you? Pro life? I think not.

I was recently in Thai prisons for over a year (political charges). Well over half the inmates there are in for bogus or for very small 'crimes.' In Norway, we have a MAX prison sentence for 21yrs, I'm totally in for that.
However, I have challenge to accept that the guy who killed 77 people on 22nd of July 2011, get the same max sentence. I have really difficulty believing he can change, and are able to function in society again.
I think that the example you have is a RARE circumstance and even then I don't think that ppl like that would be released willy nilly... Theoretically there would be extensive interviews and review boards involved. Norway definitely has the right idea

Yeah im with you there, i used to be all forcthe death penalty when it came to murderers and rapists, but seeing how many people are wrongly convicted is just atrocious, and is proof that the death penalty is against societal improvement, i say leave murderers and rapists in prison all their life. Serves them right, you take a life or harm others in ways that can never heal, you better be prepared to spend the rest of yours with no freedom.

I used to support capital punishment until I worked in a prison system for 8 yrs, including a yr in a Death Row pod. Too many mistakes and unjust convictions get made. But anyway, I've never understood why they have to complicate lethal injection so much, just start a morphine drip and say adios. Simple and cheap.
