  • A TikToker is getting a lot of heat online for calling herself a “stay-at-home” girlfriend who lives a pretty relaxed and lavish lifestyle. While she is definitely doing work around the house, if the relationship doesn’t work out, we are worried about her financial independence. Cenk Uygur and Ana Kasparian discuss on The Young Turks. "A 26-year-old self-proclaimed “stay-at-home girlfriend” has critcised followers who have questioned her lifestyle, after she revealed that she doesn’t make her own money and instead relies on her boyfriend’s income.
Rose, who goes by the username @rosedavisx on TikTok, frequently posts videos about her life as a “stay-at-home” girlfriend, as she claims that she is the one who takes care of the couple’s house daily while her partner goes to work.
In a video posted last month, she said that her partner “tells [her] stay home and enjoy [her] life and agrees to pay for [her] hair appointments, manicures & pedicures, lashes, botox, laser hair removal, clothes, and makeup”.
As for what her boyfriend does, she noted in the comments under one of her videos that her partner, Harry, is a “financial advisor, investor in companies, and owns real estate”.
In a clip posted earlier this month, Rose documented a “day in the life of a 26-year-old house wife / stay at home gf,” with the start of her day consisting of getting her eyelashes done, eating a few snacks, doing some stretches, and “cleaning the bathroom”."

Anna is just pissed she doesn’t have the same option this lady does. Modern women of today are the most free and financially independent in history….yet they are the most depressed. I’ve listened to hundreds of calls from women on Kevin Samuels show and it didn’t matter how successful they were, when he asked the right questions, they all wanted the same deal this stay at home girlfriend has and would give up everything they worked for to get that deal from a high value man. There’s nothing wrong with that. The problem is that those women had no clue what a man that they wanted, wanted from them. If he asked them what they wanted in a man they had a list a mile long. If he asked what the man got in return, you couldn’t write it on the back of a stamp.

This woman is free to do as she wants but I think financial independence is so important for everyone. Especially women who have different pressures than men. E.g. my cousins husband is a dr and my cousin is a stay at home mum currently on maternity leave raising the 3 kids. She basically told me she isn't that career driven and doesn't care if she never goes back to work (she is a teacher). I think that's dangerous. If they break up, she will have to start over again.

It's honestly REALLY simple to make yourself seem indespencible to your partner where they feel like they can't live without you and you can secure that ring/ wife. Just insert yourself into their lives and do things that they don't want to do. Men say this ALL the time. They want a woman that cooks, cleans, does laundry, ect. Then go above and beyond that. Prep their food for work. Book their trips. Get their clothes ready.

My wife is a stay at home mom. Why is being a stay at home anything something to look down upon? Why is the partner “expected” to work outside of the home? Why is it a thing to have to work? What is wrong with being a stay at home person? Our child is thrilled to have his mom at home with him. People have been conditioned to feel they have to work. If one partner has the ability to support the other then great.

Unless her boyfriend plans on marrying her, she's not in a great position in case something happens to him or he just decides to break up. Worse if this relationship goes on for several years this way. Even marriage is no guarantee if you work in your spouses business(es) without the benefit of having your name on the biz or any biz accounts at all, and no social security credits being applied. That happened to me. After nearly 25 years of being in that marriage, which was also abusive, I left and had to start over from scratch. There wasn't even alimony. We divided the non-business assets, and he kept the entire business to continue working. I had to find a way to work in my 40's and have only half the normal time to try to make social security for myself. Always have Plan B, her plan is not a good plan.

In my state even if your name isn't on the business you are entitled to money if you worked for it. It's just harder to get. The other issue is many businesses don't report their full income and a forensic accountant is needed to expose it which is expensive. And if your name is on the business then the IRS could come after you for back taxes if exposed. Good luck to you.

There are many ways to prevent being codependent and or left economically vulnerable by an lost partnership. Its true that even today many people have a hard time remaining cautious about over committing economically(and psychologically) for the sake of relationship roles and customs. Actually in todays economy, having a financial "sponsor" like this can give someone in this position great advantages and opportunities to leverage "free" time to enhance their lives and pursue myriad prospective interests. Its just as possible for a "bread winner" to get used by a charlatan posing as a lover but secretly advancing their own education/career interests only until they can leave like a thief in the night.
Personal fiscal security in this era is more about leveraging/aligning interests, skill/talents, education, and information with viable pursuits, networks, and organizations than just climbing an industry ladder. Its no longer limited to geography, commuting, or jockeying for the biggest desk in an office...though these remain clear avenues of success for some.
I'm sorry you've endured an abusive and economically stifling life experience. I hope you have gained strength from surviving your journey and earned a great level of respect for having discovered more of what you are capable of accomplishing on your own behalf as a human being in this fierce world.
I tend to idealize partners supporting each others growth and refinement both as individuals and teammates and respecting the fact that healthy balances are almost always work in progress. I guess it'd be easier if people and their world didnt ever change/age but thats not the reality we know and love.

Let me ask what is easy ? Spending years on studies and search for job or finding a rich man. Let me tell you finding a rich man is easier than that especially if you are pretty enough but then why so many women choosing to work instead of being a house gf ??? It’s simple It’s for respect and freedom, so they can leave without worry when things gets tough. Men or women in relationship or not everyone should have their financial freedom. Also one thing, how about you start see women as human instead of "women", you guys have this idea that women are some different creatures not human. @@uma_kageyama no the actual reason older women didn’t file for divorce was because they were not narcissistic. Marriage isn’t about you marriage is about family community and the people around you. Women today divorce because they are bored. That literally is a top 5 reason women have cited for filling. Number one is money. No abuse not cheating. You paint men as abusers and monster and you wanna lecture me about humanity ? Men took good care of their wives and loved them unconditionally. I asked all my great grandmothers why they never got remarried all of them said after grandpa died I couldn’t love anyone else. These women loved their husbands and families. The TRUTH is most women these days would give their left arm to be able to stay at home like her, and not work at a “job.” I admire her, I’ve been trying to get out of the rat race and would love the opportunity to be a homemaker while also pursuing my purpose in life. Jobs take so much masculine energy and drain the life out of women, this is why we our out of balance and the divorce rates are high. When you don’t have time to take care of your feminine being, it throws everything off🙏🏾

    • @Raussl

good for you...but I think everybody should make this decission for themselves. Also, your argument for "higher divorce rates" is rather shallow. Pretty sure that being dependent on a bread winning partner, and maybe have to cope with an unhappy existence is not as healthy as being able to simply seperate without having to fear for your very existence. Divorce rates are high for a multitude of reasons, yours might even being one of them, but definitely only one among many.
