I can't believe you didn't see that there's a *superior shape* that could have helped get people up onto a ledge. If you used *wedges* of the ceiling of the vertical shafts, you could have deflected the vertical motion of the player model up a shaft into horizontal motion into a corridor.

as a fan of real civil engineer, i was immediately wondering how a knob shape could help.
@@DarthZ01 Well, since we are talking about a problem with no need for superior structural integrity, it's clear that we can only really be talking about the superior shape for terms of speed and deflection (and of not having the challenge appear unprofessional). I.e. wedge and not knob.
But I don't know, maybe putting two ball-shaped spaces at the end of each vertical shaft _would_ have had some benefits. You never know until you try.
That wouldn’t work for the middle paths though
@@Robododobobo Yes, that's a shortcoming of this solution. But you could use other fixes for those. Like having the part above a middle path be slightly wider.
watching this made me have an idea..
same niche, but instead of needing to jump, you rotate the whole maze 90°.
so its like a platformer. but they will walk all over the "walls" to finally get to the end. and the exit is in the middle.
to visualize the maze imagine a circle maze with an exit in the middle but its square.
for the trigger to make it rotate, you can put a button on the "wall" they want to climb to turn it into a "floor"
can use thrusters to spin, and just clamp to stop. will need a sensor to initiate the release and clamp. so just 4 colored blocks in the middle for up, down, left, right.
when pressing the button, the clamp will release and thrusters will activate until the sensor sees the color block and clamps again.
you can probably use a controller that spins you 90° each time they press any button
They did that theme already for mazes like 5ish months ago

A maze with Elevators would be nice, like each one needs to be on a correct floor in addition to maneuvering the maze itself. Hellish but should be fun haha

I love these multiplayer maze challenges. You always come up with the most amazing (heh) concepts and twists.
Scrapman, I know its too late, but, if you took the lights away you would slide past. any change in the blocks, be it material or colour, has an edge. for example: if you place a wall of block and walk along it while pushing against it, you wont get caught but if you paint part of the wall, you will get hung up on the edge of the painted blocks. SM treats different colours/materials as separate objects, hence the edge. this is useful when you need to break up large creations for physics reasons because you don't need to change the type of block, just the colour.
Those glowing yellow slanted blocks I think are the problem as to getting caught and not being able to get in

Scrapman is honestly my favorite TH-camr these days. I used to watch more gaming TH-camrs but I like how Scrapman videos feels more mature and thought provoking with some of the physics concepts in his builds. Thanks Scrapman for adding something to my day!

Hear me out, using helis with power couplings that have anchor blocks on them. You could have a multilayer challenge where you move containers or things like that.
That gave me an idea. How about doing some kind of ant farm, fill it with sand and bury treasures. Then the other players get a limited amount of time and spud guns. The one who finds the most treaure (bigger pieces = more points) wins.

If the issue is friction, wouldn't making the walls out of frictionless blocks have fixed that? Or is player friction different from friction between a creation and the ground/other creations?

I got an idea for a trail makers build challenge:
You build a car with secret weapons that are only visible when you use them (for example the car with extending legs from YDIB, or a hidden cannon, artillery etc.) and no explanation before the fight
Maybe even multiple different weapons

i'm pretty sure the whole problem with the jump pads clipping the edge is cuz you put the lights on every single edge and the collider for the lights is not a perfect cube. was it not for the lights this would have worked perfectly fine.
I wonder if it would have been faster to carve a staircase into the glass...

Ummm...the angled lights actually stick off the cube ledge a slight bit. That's why your character snags and falls down so suddenly and why the one time you "made it" was because you fit between the set of angled lights and slipped inside.
It's like the angled lights sticking out a bit like so.

It's very slight but enough to have player model hit it like it's the ceiling space and fall down.

How did you not realise the lights were interfering with the character causing the maze to be more agony than you intended
Scrapman created the Aperture Science Arial Faith Plates in scrap machanic.
Also the flyers could have a block limit lower than the melee bots
