Nice. It runs better now than it did when it was first made. You did a great job and thanks for sharing. Man, I bet that feels good when it starts and sounds so smooth.
Great to see all 3 videos going through entire process, . Just amazing how technical tractors, combines& machinery have become, just like semi’s soooo much to them anymore.. great series.🤘🤘🤘
None of us will ever install a water pump without checking that the shaft is straight! Most impressive work on your part, I do feel that the parts and the alignment tool seem to have taken a longer time to arrive that I would have expected though. I know getting a new engine can take a while, I just hope the client wasn't in need of that machine while the engine was in transit. I supose that the tractor isn't needed much during the winter.
Excellent job done! I absolutely love how You and all you guys out there at SLOAN approach every detail in repairing these quite complex mechanisms. Greetings from Kyiv, Ukraine!
Great awesome video Zeth , nice install back in that beautiful tractor . Owner should be happy back home again . After that water pump nightmare My ultimate tool box is that teil with black , dam good deal As the salesman keeps selling tractors more equipment has to be maintained the way I put it
Really enjoyed the series of videos on this repair. WOW Hard to believe that that bent shaft caused that much damage!! But understandable! Oh, I also like the music too!! Keep up the Great work and videos!!
Just started to watch the videos on this channel, great content 👍🏻 “and the batteries are dead” little did Zeth know thats @Millennial Farmer battle cry 😆, paving the way for the future awesome collaboration (planter and tractor maintenance)
Also lucky Deere jumped in and helped with motor.. Buddy of mine had his tractor down 5 months. New motor sent was crap, Next one was crap, and Deere was present for third motor, And on it's first run. Metal in the oil..
Hi Great videos I enjoy them very much. We had exacly the same problem here in Tanzania with our John Deere 9500 Combine with the DT6076 engine. small bearing pieces from the old water pump went in the cam gear and and made a lot of mess. broke a key and a tooth. i have some pictures..
That had to be an uncomfortable call. “Yeah boss this tractor that was running when we started ain’t running anymore “. Kidding aside anything and everything can have problems it’s how things get taken care of that sets dealers apart
I know that guy was glad to get his tractor back being it was early spring time. How long did the repair take? You have a great looking family. Your wife is beautiful.
I doubt it. They would of blamed the owner for doing something wrong. But since Sloan did the work, they didn’t have a choice. It was either Sloan or Deere eating this, and it was a big one. ZK, do you have any lingering doubts about what happened? Do you ever worry you did something during the pump install to cause all this?
As a diesel mechanic from the 2000's. I would definitely not pay the money for a snap on box. Or for most of the tools. Except for some specialty things. There are so many better options out there now. I think my snap on box cost me 8000$ back then Best day was when my snap on bill was paid off To all the new mechanics don't waste your money on all snap on its not worth it.
I would love to know how much time it would have taken for the job if the original pump wasn’t flawed and how much time (and $$) it wound up taking as a result of the damage caused by the flawed pump. Who eats the $$ and labor? Great work! I know it’s a lot of hard work but it looks like fun (except the part where the shop isn’t heated). Thanks!
I was so surprised to see you filling the coolant without using vacuum. I believe cat wants you to vacuum fill in anything with egr cooler. Although I have had them fail even using the vacuum fill.
Made my living as a mechanic for 47 years, 37 years in my own shop. Seen this movie before several times. JD may have coughed up a block but you can be sure SLOAN paid the labor. I have serious doubts JD would offer up any labor warranty cash. So it comes down to SLOAN really liking ZK and wanting to keep him, because truth be told...this was his mistake.......not inspecting a replacement part, ESPECIALLY with this kind of penalty for being wrong, is a firing offense in most shops. I'm also sure ZK had a little heart-to-heart talk with his own self about paying more attention. Make no mistake, I really enjoy watching these vids and I respect ZK a ton, he deserves it, but I just wanted all you non-techs to get a better understanding of the dynamics at play in this situation.
So I’m not getting into who paid what but Deere and Sloan took care of the customer very well. And, Deere does pay labor in these situations. I have put a ton of those water pumps in with no problems so never thought to check that one. Will from now on. I didn’t get an any trouble at all and these things happen every once in a while. Not even close to a fireable offense. If your breathing in this industry and can turn a wrench, they won’t fire you. Unless, you do not learn from your mistakes and you don’t show up to work then maybe. If I make a mistake I own up to it and make it right. I’ll work all night if I have to.
Ive seen so many of your videos, they are all great. Amazing your knowledge of the tractors. Are part of the requirements to work in your shop is to have a beard?
Apparently engineering schools teach courses in complexity and poor access these days. CAT skid steers withbhydraulic driven a/c compressor when there is ample room to hang a compressor on the engine is an other example of this education
Just asking to make more room why tires were left on during the engine exchange ? Snap on tools hv life time warranty on 90 percent of there tools it the price of doing the job
I am in the shop and field so I can do whatever I want to get the customer running again. We took him another tractor so they could keep running. Sometimes I will “dr death” something and it gets hailed in the shop and another tech will work on it, but in this case there was no one else around to figure out a problem like that.
Gotta make sure to get all the guards on so the idiots can't get hurt and sue John Deere because they were stupid and stuck their fingers where they shouldn't be.

I just don't buy that the bent water pump shaft caused this failure. Something went through the gear train that broke the teeth and bent the water pump shaft.
Like what? The engine ran perfectly fine until the water pump was installed and then there was immediate noise. I think I would know I was there for the whole thing. You only seen a glimpse.
Great editing and step by step updates. Great work and nice to see Deere stand up for the damage of the pump.

how do you like working for sloan?

Now I see why Snap On only sells out of a truck. . Once you get a tech inside, somethings gonna happen!
wondering how long was it from breaking the engine till it was ready to wash
Yes and how much time was used compared to the warranty allowance - which usually has nothing to do with the real world.

if i needed sumone to work on my green n yellow it would be this dude hes laid back he dont use no bad language yeah he would be the dude i'd trust
