I personally prefer the old paint, not the new wrap. The livery on 3002 still looks really good 27 years later, but the wrap on 2301 is totally cooked after 1 year.
Agreed, the last southbound Coaster I saw with 2301 leading was by far the windiest one, you can literally hear the wind ripping against the microphone.
I hope they preserve an F59 somewhere. However I don't think they should yet as Metra's still got a big fleet and so does AmCal up north (they're going out soon, though).
@@Ferromexfan4081 I felt the same about Coaster's F40s. If only I had gotten into trains a couple years earlier I probably could have made it down there in time to see them. Oh well, at least we've got TH-cam to remind us of that bygone era.
@@F59PHI I have quite a few videos of the old Surfline but I honestly wish I put more time into railfanning the Surfliner when it had F59s and coaster when they had F40s. I always liked F40s and F59s but I wanted chargers just to have sth different. But now that I got my wish, I don’t want the chargers anymore. I want the old surfline back. But the good thing is AmCal still has F59s, metrolink brought back 4 F59s, ACE still has F40s, and 2 Coaster F40s r preserved at museums. Also what’s the fate of the Coaster F59s? Will they b drilled and scrapped?

@@djmasterty2309 Perhaps a few were, although the first southbound Amtrak and the last southbound Coaster definitely were.
2:34 2116 still sounds raspy with the #2 Bell dead.
In my opinion, its unique compare to the regular RL K5LAs these days.
Agreed, I thought it sounded nice, being a bit high pitched in comparison to the other Chargers.

How fast are they going?
I'd say the slower ones are going maybe 25-35 and the faster ones were going 75-90.
