Male here, and I'm happy to see these ladies share their journeys and show me that I'm not alone in my feelings of imposter syndrome and what changes or moves I should make to push forward.
This is just what I needed.... I am transitioning back to tech... I have a degree in computer science but imposter syndrome made me fear exploring careers in that field for a year so I went into marketing and to be honest it's not for me... but I started planning my way back to tech specifically Data science and I am starting this week for sure! Thank you Coding Blonde for all the resources and visibility you provide for Women in tech!!! I love and appreciate your work. ♥️ All the way from Kenya 🇰🇪
I started learning recently, and all I can say this video is needed! I keep doubting myself but seeing these great ladies and their achievements pushed me through.
Thanks so much for this video. Am starting a bootcamp in Full stack developing . I don't have any background in computer science, am a Charted Accountant but have no passion for the profession. I recently developed a huge passion for tech but I have been thinking if it's right for me as a mother of 3 young kids. But I am going for it. Thanks ladies for inspiring some of us.
It was nice watching this! I am currently working as a registered nurse and have been going back and forth with making the switch to tech. I just don't think nursing, or the medical field is for me like I thought it would be. I've taken some coding classes online already and have liked it so far, but I think I'm falling victim to the sunk cost fallacy. I'm afraid to abandon my current career, with the thoughts that I wasted my time and money. I know I shouldn't look at it that way, but I'm human. I think I'll finally admit to myself that I would be happier in another field, and actually commit 100% to my computer science education. The more time I spend doing something that makes me unhappy, the less time I get to spend on something that would bring me more happiness. Thanks for sharing your experiences and feelings about making the transition! It's been so helpful! 😊
@@rockinthemtees1628 Hi there 🙂 well, I'm currently still working as registered nurse, but I've finally decided that I will be leaving my job next month so that I can go to school full time for computer science, starting in January. It took a lot of thinking and contemplation, And even though I'm naturally nervous about jumping into a field I don't know much about, I'm even more excited about the potential of getting a better quality of life. I already feel a large degree of relief knowing I'm making the decision to finally get out. I loved the act of nursing and taking care of people, but just not under this system.... I don't want to sacrifice myself in order to care for others, as bad as that may sound to some people. But everyone is different. Here's to new beginnings! 🙂 I would like to hear your thoughts as you're about to graduate from nursing school!
@@jessica.rodriguez Thanks for the reply Jessica! I am now graduated from nursing school. I plan on working in a more lax setting so that I can have enough time to focus on coding. I've been studying on my own for a couple weeks. Nursing is a fine career and some love it but it does have many drawbacks. I will also be able to have a higher standard of living in CS than I would as a nurse without the same toll on my body
Great interview! It’s nice to see several women who basically reflect my situation (changing career into tech, self-taught), all in one place. 👍🙂 This relative abundance of women coders featured is a main reason why I love your channel. Keep it up! (So often it’s just dudes, teaching tutorials and stuff, so this is a very refreshing break in my “learning about coding” TH-cam viewing. 😄)
I too am a registered nurse and even tho I’m good at my job I don’t enjoy as a matter of fact it makes me depressed and sad when I have to go to work. I need to get out. Did u make the transition?
I currently work in Ultrasound and I'm wanting to transition out of healthcare and into tech. I have 2 small children and work full-time. I don't have time for a rigorous boot camp or get my degree so I'm trying to teach myself.
Thank you for this! I got a minor in comp sci and loved it but followed a teaching path. After some time, I realized that I would rather be coding so I’m trying to learn again and pursue a career
Long time ago, I went on to uni to study Physics, following my childhood dream. I didn't have money, my parents couldn't help me and I couldn't get a loan in my country. That's why I needed to stop my education and start a full time low skilled job. Since then, I'm working as a waiter for 13 years. Now, I'm learning Python on Udemy since few months. I find it kind of easy. My way of thinking is very compatible with the programming logic. Got the basics already. Now I have 1 more course on advanced Python concepts to finish, after which I'll customize my website, which I've started (from template), to use it as portfolio. I have big dreams in ML. My plan is first to get some junior Python programming job, as quickly as I can. Or if I get lucky - junior ML engineer role. And then continue learning and progress into that, to become eventually AI researcher.
@@kizarumelon2477 In other countries too. But not in mine. They asked my father to bet the house, to give me a loan. It wasn't possible. That ruined all my plans for my life. Whatever, now hopefully I have new opportunity with the coding.
@@ConnoisseurOfExistence they ruined all ur plans? LMAO who says even if u get into the program you'll get out with a degree. U still think like a spoiled lil kid
@@kizarumelon2477 I'm not going to get emotionally involved with your negativity. Thanks so much for including me in this! Love it!!
I'm so glad you liked the final result! Thank you so much for participating ❤
Eden, you should make more videos on your TH-cam channel! Well-spoken and have such a nice personality.

Graduating nursing school this week and I’m having the same thoughts. I see you wrote this 8 months ago, how are you doing now?

Thank you for sharing your experiences, girls! You were great!!!
Omg this made me cry 😢 I needed this.

Trying to transition from Social Work! I’ve had my Master’s since 2011 and itching for a change plus feel there’s a gap to bridge between SW and tech.
That is amazing!! There's definitely a gap there, I'm excited to see how you end up applying your skills!
It's so great to see this comment! I am trying to transition from School Psychology myself
wow just in time ! This video came in handy! Great work!! :D

This was such a good and encouraging video! Thank you Coding Blonde!
How does one look like when becoming a programmer? What daily practices do we need to do?
