I'm so glad you reacted to this song. It's been one of my favorites ever since I first heard it. It makes me think of my mom, who passed away over 50 years ago. Mom, I love you.💔
It made me cry too. I remember when my kids were starting out. They would grocery shop at my house. It also reminds me of my mom she did so much with so little and us kids always had what we needed.
You and your husband are two of my favorite reactors. Both of you are such class acts. Thank you. I'm old enough to remember Jimmy Dean hawking his sausages back in the day lol, but I was never a country music fan. This spoken word piece, however, was quite touching and reminded me of all the things my Mom did for me. She was a single mother and worked long hours to provide for us both and afford to send me to private school.
That song is similar to, Melba Montgomery's song,,.. No Charge,...That song I listened too when my Momma passed away, I cried for days,... Trisha, you need to listen too, this is one of the most beautiful songs ever written by Harlon Howard and sung, by a beautiful lady... It has been around for a while and seldom heard anymore, but I promise, you will not have dry eyes,... Songs like these is why Country Music is considered the American Story music, and something that fits up on the walls and fire places with pictures of our friends and families, it touches your heart like that,.. I thank you for bringing me back too some of those beautiful songs of our music stories, it's a fitting occasion for many reasons to remember, thank you, dearly, Robert,..😪🇺🇸🙏🇺🇸💯%✔️
Jimmy Dean was also a very successful actor, he was a regular character on the old Daniel Boone tv show in the 1960s and also was in some movies back then.
Such a great story teller!!! And great sausage as well!!! And if all of you out there are still blessed enough to have your Moms with you, please, please dont neglect to tell her how much you love them! Ill be without my beautiful Mom 6 years this July 4th. I miss her every day and would give anything to tell her i love her, one more time. And to hear her tell me she loves me!!!! God bless you all. And Tasha, i know how it feels to need groceries and get to "shop" at grandma's house!!! Love you girl.
This song reminds me of the time I got a new pair of shoes for school and I was having a terrible time breaking them in...I wore my old tennis shoes to school because my feet were sore...When I got home, there was my mom, working away in the kitchen with my new shoes on ... I'm 75 now but I still love you mom!!!
You made me cry girl. 😢 my father lived outside of the law, so he wasn't always there. And mom had to do without a lot, for we could eat. His enemies would attack us. Mom one time escape us from death. They came to kill us all. I'm alive because of her bravery
Or blame her for picking that environment and father for her children. Quit glorifying the woe-meyn who makes the ghettoes and keep them populated. Generation after generation of inherited crime/poverty hinges on the choice of the womb-holders.
I ought to like this as I certainly agree with the sentiment but really this one drags a bit for me, I prefer No Charge which is basically the same message
Story telling songs were a big craze in Country music in the 1950s through the 1970s, there were several artists who had very big careers doing this, I can understand your feelings about it, but there were many people who really loved it.
We can never let this music die, thank you for helping keep it alive
I love this song. I'm a big fan of jimmy dean. Reminds me of my mom. I miss my mom very much ❤❤❤❤

God bless all mommas and grandma's. We are blessed to have them in our lives.

It's good to remember your Mom, often, 'cause it's a tough job. Rest assured, your family loves you, forever. God bless you, and yours, forever.

He sang it from his heart. ♥
Thank you so much for sharing your heart! My Mom & Dad, and Grandparents gave and sacrificed so much over the years. I will always be in their debt.

He did a song around this time (or a recitation) called "The Farmer And The Lord" which is worth a listen.
