It's funny--I actually like Thorne & Singleton as announcers more than Costas & Morgan. But I still like seeing the NBC telecast of this series. Bob & Joe aren't perfect but they're among those I associate with "big games" in '90s baseball, moreso than the other two.
@@meharinationsportspodcast2582 This is since the LCS went to best 4-of-7 since 1985 season. For NLCS, I cant put 1986 and 1999 as the best, since both didnt go 7 games. You must have a close game 7 For me, the two-three greatest NLCS were 2003-2004 and maybe 2006
What a game this was. The Mets were left for dead many times, but always came back and put the Braves on their heels. After the Mets tied the game in top of the 7th inning, the game became a war of attrition and the Mets ran out of gas in the end. No question that the Braves had zero left against those dominant Yankees.
I agree this team belonged in the world series not the 2000 team. I truly believe if they won the series against the Braves, they had a really good shot of beating the Yankees in the World Series.
❤by this point, every native New Yorker living in NY or around the world was praying and pleading to God for a subway series…😂After the Piazza home run I thought the Mets had a chance.. after all these years I still haven’t forgave Kenny Rodgers😢by the way thanks for the upload😊
This definitely is one of my favorite games. Thank you for uploading. I loved seeing Eddie Perez play in this series, as Mr. Coleman said, he really was spectacular and a very worthy MVP. When he came up in the first inning starting about 21:11 with the bases loaded was the worst possible thing for the Mets. (I remember the month before Chipper hammered those Mets time and time and the Mets mostly walked Chipper in this series so it is almost as though Eddie was taking Chippers place in this series.) I am glad the interview with Eddie and the presentation of the MVP trophy at the end or around 3:32:00 is included in this video.
I lost my voice for two days when Piazza hit that two run homer to tie it.... I was yelling so loud so hyped & pumped up ....only to watch them lose it in such a horrible fashion.....
I remember this game as a Braves fan. 3:23:04 was major mixed feelings - it was the result I wanted, but I could just imagine Kenny Rogers thinking as he walked off the mound "good luck living this one down". Ouch - that's gotta hurt. This was indeed a thrill win though - what a game!! Too bad we had to get swept by the Yankees in the World Series though!!
The Mets tried converting Mora into a shortstop after Ordonez suffered a season ending injury in 2000. It wasn't a great idea, and then the Mets fans turned against Mora. Which sparked his trade to Baltimore.
Finally the NBC version is up!

I LOVED this Mets team!!
Best NLCS game of all time
its up there with some of the best LCS ive ever seen
I would disagree.
Here's two games in the NLCS that were better than this game.
1. 2004 NLCS game 6 (HOU vs STL)
2. 1986 NLCS game 6 (NYM vs HOU)

THE 1999 METS WAS MY TEAM BACK THEN DOING THAT TIMEFRAME.

The mets made it easy for the yankees. Braves had nothing left in the world series
This Mets team were actually better than the team that clinched the pennant the following year. RIP Gerald Williams

I still wonder if Kenny pitched the way he did on purpose or if he just legitimately didn't have it
I watch this game longer than Bobby Bonilla and Ricky Henderson. 😅
2:08:33 - Red Sox came back from 3-0 deficit .
I'm not a Mets fan but I like many agree that this 1999 Mets team was better than the 2000 one that went to the world series...
1:48:34 - Mike Piazza two run HR!!!⚾️
I had no idea Joe Morgan worked nbc games, i also didnt know bret boone played on the mets! Sorry i was 9 in 99 !
He worked with NBC Sports from 1994 to 2000 when the network broadcasted MLB games on a part-time basis after the failed Baseball Network in 1995.
Boone played for the Braves

Al Leiter relieved by Patrick Mahomes's father

it felt like the excitement and toughness of this series sapped the Braves by the time the World Series started, also those Yankees were pretty good
When piazza hit that ball out I went insane! I woke up my parents lmao!
Lol that's the best reaction I've heard
This was only postseason for a Walk Off Walk at 3:23:04 mark
And this would be the final time the Braves would advance to the Fall Classic until 2021.
In 1994, Kenny Rogers (the pitcher) tossed a perfect game for the Texas Rangers on 98 pitches. Sports is a fickle mistress.
Classic MLB on NBC Tuesday Oct 19, 1999, 8 pm ET Attendance- 52,335
I remember staying up late to watch this classic game. I was 15 years old and it was a school night lol lol lol
The pitch speed gun girl behind home plate was frazzled when Mets tied it in the 7th and then took the lead in the 8th 😄😄😄
If Franco and Benitez do their jobs right, the Mets come back from 3-0.
Mets came close to forcing a game 7.
But Franco and Benitez had other plans
All Kenny Rogers had to do was put the damn ball over the plate.
I still say he did it on purpose since he and Valentine didn't like each other and for the fact Valentine didn't start him for this game
The loss is partially Valentines fault for starting Leiter to begin with
3:29:59 3:30:02 im from the future Ted I’m telling you my dodgers beat two NY teams
The mets letting go of Melvin Mora was a huge mistake
He was a sensational hitter in Baltimore
