Damn dude, you pretty much summarized every issue the S6 currently has, except for the water coming from the rear window onto the amp (I had cleaned the drains for the sunroof in anticipation of winter season). However, besides that, everything you listed is an ongoing problem. Due to the weather (it has been snowing for the past several days) and the virus, I don't really have the possibility to work on the car as much as I wanted. Hope the weather will be better next month and allow for some repairs to be done.

Hi, the files are not corrupted, just need to follow the instructions. There are other people who in the comments explain in even more detail how to get burn the files properly. Just fyi, it is not possible to install European software on a vehicle that is from another region, as the car will not be able to read it.

I have a q7 2006. Its stuck on bootloader . Thr CD changer works i used a vertabim dics as it was told is the best. In terms of the my issue its saying it failed to find metainfo on the mmi screen but on the cd1 i inserted it into my PC i only was only able to find metainfo2 on the file.
Make sure you are downloading the proper files for your vehicle as they are region-specific. If you try to install a firmware that is not made for your vehicle's region the update will fail with the metainfo not found error. Also make sure you are not extracting the image into the disc, but rather burning the image itself.
Hello I can see a folder called macosx for the europe q7 firmware. Do I used that downloaded folder if I'm using a mac os. Also do I need to get a dvd to update the navigation at the same time

Hello mate. Thank you for your contribution to this matter. I tried to update my MMI 2G software but it was not reading the CD. It was saying I quote: "Drive error! Metainfo cannot be analysed!" Then below that was saying try again and cancel. I tried several times like that but it came the same text on the screen. Can you please tell me if I can do something to fix this problem. And my Audi A6 AMP is ASK. Do I need to loop the AMP when I try and update my software which is 3460 version? And last, the DVD ROM that reads the navigation, doesn't read the DVDs that I donwloaded from this tutorial, it says Check your navigation DVD, while with the original DVD it works. From what you are describing I think you might be having some issues with the actual CDs that you are using. Some other people have had issues with random CDs as well. I have had most success with CDs from Verbatim and Sony so I would recommend that you try burning the software to one of these discs and trying again. Please also make sure that you have downloaded the appropriate software version for your MMI and vehicle.

Hi and thanks! Regarding your questions. When doing any firmware updates you will need to bypass the AMP in the back. This means that if you want to update Bluetooth and Telephony you will need to do so. Updating the navigation system doesn't require this as it is a separate computer and is not doing anything to the AMP.

There are no 2023 maps for the MMI 2G, because Audi stopped providing updates quite some time ago. The latest official Audi navigation maps where from 2018-2019 and I have those linked in the video description. If you see sellers on ebay advertising 2023 or 2024 maps for the MMI 2G they are lying and selling the old version with updated metadata.
Hi, I am in Australia and am pretty sure I have ROW A6 C6 2007. The MMI in the car is MMI 2G 51.5.0 which of the links below do I use to get the latest update. ROW is only referred to in the 3G updates. Thanks in Advance
Version 5150 is for the EU firmware. Therefore, you will need to download the firmware for MMI 2G for EU, more specifically CD3, which will bring you from 5150 to version 5570, which is the latest one available.

Hello..thanks for such a video. When writing to a CD disk, do you write it as an ISO file or do we transfer the ISO file to a folder and write it to a normal CD disk?
@EndlessMotorWorks Yes, I know, but Serbia is missing on Eastern Europe disc (where suppose to be). I found different disc from other source and now it's working.
Most likely the MMI you are trying to upgrade is not the one that the files are meant for, or it is running firmware version that is for another region, like Japan or Russia.

@@argutilas You will need to start from the first CD (CD1), which will bring your very old version to 5150. From there you can use CD3 to upgrade to 5570. Unless you have Bluetooth telephony, you don't need to use CD2 at all. Regarding the AMP fiber optic looping, you will need to do it if you have the upgraded BOSE or B&O AMPs.

No need to buy anything. Just go to Audi and have them remove CP (component protection) for the amp. It gets triggered sometimes during the update. It will cost you around 100 usd
Hi , thanks alot you helped me repair my mistake of stupiditly bootloader, but i have a small problem which is i had reverse camera fitted by previuous owner which now doest work anymore :( , also central locking an other many options does not work , i did install eu 2g version and the car is a4 2008 2.7 with bang oulfesen system , but i didnt install the bluetooth and telephone update , should i do that ?
Installing the second update shouldn't be necessary. Most likely these additional options where coded before and will need to be recoded again. Central locking specifically has nothing to do with the MMI so that is a separate issue. For starters I would recommend having the vehicle scanned for errors and take it from there.
I used the image burner that comes with Windows 10. The main issue with CDs not being read is either CD itself is not good quality or there is some issue with your CD changer. The CDs with which I have had the most success are Verbatim and Sony. Some of the others have been hit or miss.
From what I have seen the issue mentioned in the video mostly happens on cars with Bose audio, but I personally would still advise to do the loop for good measure.
How supose to burn a disc for navigation? Just we need to take a new dvd disck and to burn it the file or need to copy the content of folder and after to burn?
If by that you meant the pre-facelift A6 C6 that was built from 2005 to 2007 and is running the MMI 2G High then yes, it is compatible. If your vehicle, however, does not have the color display, but rather has the red/black monochrome one, then no, it is not compatible. The small red/black display is known as MMI 2G Basic and has its own firmware updates.

Thanks for the kind words! Now to answer the questions: 1. Audi stopped providing updates for the MMI 2G High in 2019. Thus the latest maps are from 2019. If you see a seller on Ebay stating they have 2021-2022 maps for the MMI 2G - they are lying. 2. A regular DVD-R or DVD-RW will do just fine. 3. CD changer does not have the capability to read DVDs. If you pop a DVD disk in there nothing will happen.

If it is stuck on mute there could be a hardware issue with the amp. Still, you can go ahead and try with the update. If it doesn't work, then you can continue troubleshooting further.

From the version MMI version your vehicle seems that it is currently running a North American firmware. However the updates that I have provided for the MMI 2G are for Europe only. I searched everywhere for the American firmware but it has been pretty much taken down from everywhere due to copy-right. You can try and update the firmware with the EU version anyway, but I cannot guarantee that it will work out. The other option is to find a seller that has the correct update CDs for your region. Regarding the AMP, if it is just the basic one (not Bose or B&O) it should be fine without the fiberoptic loop. Green menu can be unlocked with VCDS. I haven't done this on my car so I cannot tell you how to do it step-by-step. Still, there are several forum threads on the various Audi forums describing how to do that in length. This happens also when the wrong files are used for your vehicle. Are you downloading the correct ones for your specific model, MMI version and region?

No, it will not fix it. Based on the described symptom, most probably the fix of the amp has triggered CP (Component Protection). You will need to go to the dealer and have it removed.
Hallo everyone, I really need your help!? BOOTLOADER version 2.40 MMI (H43) application update. This problem was come when I was trying to install Cd Maxi-Link 2 for Bluetooth receiver BRT 1021719 . MMI is not switch off, is flashing map light on MMI control, is searching Cd players then is load Cd 25% is switching off and on is repeat that time to time till battery it's over charge.
You can skip the loop if you don't want to do it. However if you skip it, CP on the sub might get triggered, you will be left with no audio and you will need a trip to the dealer to get it unlocked. Whether the CP will be triggered is a pretty much a 50-50 chance so it is up to you to decide if you want to take that chance.
Hi. I have bought the dvd’s from audi dealership as wel as optic fibre loop. In insert the dvd and it recognizes everything but on all the updates is says N instead of S/Y. So it won’t update anything. When I try push on “start download” it immediately gives me error: “no devices selected for updating”. I cannot select them manually either. Hope you can help me with this. It is an audi a8 d3 from 2004 with mmi 2g high with software version 0835 so it’s not like it’s not neccesary.

All files that are uploaded have been checked and confirmed as working. Do note that MMIs are coded to a region. If your vehicle shipped with European firmware, you cannot install a firmware for another region.

Hi, I am happy that you found the video helpful. There is something that you have misunderstood, however. MMI 2G and MMI 3G are not software versions, but rather hardware iterations. Meaning there are hardware differences between MMI 2G and 3G. Therefore, if you want to upgrade your vehicle from MMI 2G to 3G you will need to take apart the dashboard and change quite a few physical components. In that sense you will be "retrofitting" MMI 3G in a vehicle that didn't come with that.

If you have telephony enabled for your vehicle, meaning you can connect your phone and take calls, they you will need CD2. If you don't have (I didn't either), then you can skip it and just go with CD3.
@@EndlessMotorWorks thanks for the swift reply. I know I have telephone prep high as part of the factory option but when I click on phone it says telephone not installed. I'm not sure if this is a software issue or perhaps the BT module has failed. The car prior to me owning was in energy management so I suspect had a flat battery and I've managed to enable many functions that were not working previously. Kind of hoping if I run the BT cd then it might kick start it into action!
@@r3ggy I wouldn't count on it. When you get the message that the "phone is not installed" it usually means that Bluetooth is not available, the option is enabled or both. Either way, a simple software update is not going to resolve this. You will need the dealer-level diagnostic tool to check what is actually going on.
I got stuck after pressing bootloader from green menu. After your tutorial MMI working fine. But I have problem. Only left side off speakers are playing. No sound on right side.. I did the loop as you shown... maybe you can help me with this struggle? Audi a6c6 2008
No audio or audio from only one of the sides is a telltale sign that the amp CP was triggered the update. The only way this can happen is if the amp was not looped. This is also clearly explained in the video. The only way to remove CP is to have the dealer do it.
Which wires are you referring to? The ones I am disconnecting from the amp or something else? Navigation installation is separate from the firmware update. On cars with MMI 2G and equipped with navigation the navigation computer is in the trunk and has a DVD reader, the DVD with the appropriate maps needs to be inserted there.

Do you have a disk in the navigation computer that is in the trunk? If it says that there is no navigation DVD, this is the first thing to check. If there is a disk in there but it is not being read, then there could be an issue with the computer itself or with the lens that does the reading of the disk. Either way, updating the MMI will not fix this issue.

No it can't do that. If your car doesn't have the option for navigation then there is no easy fix for that. Also, on these cars there is no Bluetooth music playback, but rather it is only to make phone calls. If you want to play music from your phone you need to check if you have AMI.

The Bluetooth module in the C6 generation Audi is not capable of music playback, you can only use it for calls. You can get one on Ebay, but you will most likely need someone to install it and code it for you.
Hi i dont have the mmi disk drive on the side in my boot. Is it underneath or elsewhere in the car. I have been stuggling to fix it for a while. Its fine when i start the car but then it stops and says navigation info blocked. I have a 2010 audi a6 estate. Any help would be appreciated.
The navigation computer is located in the boot, the MMI computer is in the center console, it is upgraded through the CD changer for MMI 2G or through an SD card for MMI 3G. Which model and year is your Audi?

Great guide mate, well done! Do you have to use the discs in a particular sequence? I have bluetooth phone so should I start with disc 1, then disk two (twice from looking at the comments!), then disc 3? Or go with disc 1 then disc 3 then disc 2?
Yes, you will need to install them in that order. However, the first disk will bring your firmware version to 5150. If you are already on that version you can skip it. Disk 2 is for Bluetooth and telephony. Disk 3 brings the firmware of the MMI to 5570 from 5150.
Right, I'm an idiot. I have version 5170 installed and I have bluetooth telephone. Would I need disk 1? Is there a way to tell if I need to bother with disk 2 for the bluetooth telephone? Will disk 3 take me safely to 5570 from 5170?? My brain hurts...
Thank you for the guide, ran into a glitch hoping you can help me solve. I burned the image onto a CD, created a fiber optic loop, got all the way to inserting the CD in the engineering menu to update, but at that point it says "The medium is currently unavailable." You will find one that says 3G High and your Audi model (if I remember correctly). You will need to download it and put it on a SD card. However, in the downloads link there are several files in that folder. You will need to see which version you currently have and update to the later versions one at a time just so that there are no issues.
Unfortunately I don't have those. I only recently managed to get my hands on a copy of the firmware files. It is quite difficult to get the American software here in Europe.

It has a cd changer but no usb or sd slot. It doesn’t have satnav either. Do you have a link where I can access the CD’s to update it? And indeed can it be updated?! I don’t need anything fancy just want to be able to access my phone through the screen fully so I can use Google maps and play music and make calls as needed. Please help!
Basic MMI firmware updates are very rare and I don't have those. They pretty much cannot be found anywhere on the internet for free. If you want to upgrade the firmware in order to listen to music from your phone, I wouldn't bother, as it is not possible. These older vehicles do not support Bluetooth audio playback of any sorts. The Bluetooth connectivity that they have is for telephone only, and that even doesn't always work properly, again because they are old. The proper way to play audio through Aux, Bluetooth or USB flash drive is to have a car equipped with AMI (Audi Music Interface) and use that.

Thank you thank you thank you. It works, but to explain some simple things to people for whom the method did not work through my experience with it, 1. After downloading the files, you must decompress them, copy them to an excellent CD, you must copy the files of Disk 1, then decompress the second file, and copy the compressed file 1 as it is. Because you will not be able to disassemble it and download it on one disk, and then it will be completed with you with ease. The update on my car A4 B8 took 5 minutes and I did not lose any sound and everything works in the correct and smooth way and also the control became faster than before, and thanks to the hero who wrote the video, had it not been for him, I would have lost a lot of money.

Damn dude, you pretty much summarized every issue the S6 currently has, except for the water coming from the rear window onto the amp (I had cleaned the drains for the sunroof in anticipation of winter season). However, besides that, everything you listed is an ongoing problem. Due to the weather (it has been snowing for the past several days) and the virus, I don't really have the possibility to work on the car as much as I wanted. Hope the weather will be better next month and allow for some repairs to be done.

Hi, the files are not corrupted, just need to follow the instructions. There are other people who in the comments explain in even more detail how to get burn the files properly. Just fyi, it is not possible to install European software on a vehicle that is from another region, as the car will not be able to read it.

I have a q7 2006. Its stuck on bootloader . Thr CD changer works i used a vertabim dics as it was told is the best. In terms of the my issue its saying it failed to find metainfo on the mmi screen but on the cd1 i inserted it into my PC i only was only able to find metainfo2 on the file.
Make sure you are downloading the proper files for your vehicle as they are region-specific. If you try to install a firmware that is not made for your vehicle's region the update will fail with the metainfo not found error. Also make sure you are not extracting the image into the disc, but rather burning the image itself.
Hello I can see a folder called macosx for the europe q7 firmware. Do I used that downloaded folder if I'm using a mac os. Also do I need to get a dvd to update the navigation at the same time

I tried to update my MMI 2G software but it was not reading the CD. It was saying I quote: "Drive error! Metainfo cannot be analysed!" Then below that was saying try again and cancel. I tried several times like that but it came the same text on the screen.
Can you please tell me if I can do something to fix this problem. And my Audi A6 AMP is ASK. Do I need to loop the AMP when I try and update my software which is 3460 version? And last, the DVD ROM that reads the navigation, doesn't read the DVDs that I donwloaded from this tutorial, it says Check your navigation DVD, while with the original DVD it works.

From what you are describing I think you might be having some issues with the actual CDs that you are using. Some other people have had issues with random CDs as well. I have had most success with CDs from Verbatim and Sony so I would recommend that you try burning the software to one of these discs and trying again. Please also make sure that you have downloaded the appropriate software version for your MMI and vehicle.

Unfortunately no, as you can see from the video description the Audi Q5 is not a supported vehicle for the firmware upgrade.
Aww dang the iso file for the north america seems to be corrupted. The file wont even open on my mac or windows cpu.
The file is not supposed to be opened on a computer. You need to burn the image to a disk and then run it in your vehicle.
@@EndlessMotorWorks Well I should say it won't even allow me to burn the image. The Europe iso files work just fine and I tested them inside my Audi. However the update would not work due to the fact my car has USA components.
So how to get USA updates

Hi and thanks! Regarding your questions. When doing any firmware updates you will need to bypass the AMP in the back. This means that if you want to update Bluetooth and Telephony you will need to do so. Updating the navigation system doesn't require this as it is a separate computer and is not doing anything to the AMP.

There are no 2023 maps for the MMI 2G, because Audi stopped providing updates quite some time ago. The latest official Audi navigation maps where from 2018-2019 and I have those linked in the video description. If you see sellers on ebay advertising 2023 or 2024 maps for the MMI 2G they are lying and selling the old version with updated metadata.

Hi, I am in Australia and am pretty sure I have ROW A6 C6 2007. The MMI in the car is MMI 2G 51.5.0 which of the links below do I use to get the latest update. ROW is only referred to in the 3G updates. Thanks in Advance
Version 5150 is for the EU firmware. Therefore, you will need to download the firmware for MMI 2G for EU, more specifically CD3, which will bring you from 5150 to version 5570, which is the latest one available.

You need to burn the image to a normal CD disk (not DVD). For further info please refer to the description. :)

There are two disks that are linked, CD1 and CD2 for the navigation. One is for Western Europe, the other one is for Central and Eastern Europe

Most likely the MMI you are trying to upgrade is not the one that the files are meant for, or it is running firmware version that is for another region, like Japan or Russia.

@@argutilas You will need to start from the first CD (CD1), which will bring your very old version to 5150. From there you can use CD3 to upgrade to 5570. Unless you have Bluetooth telephony, you don't need to use CD2 at all. Regarding the AMP fiber optic looping, you will need to do it if you have the upgraded BOSE or B&O AMPs.

No, you can use the firmware for Europe if the vehicle was meant for the European market.

No need to buy anything. Just go to Audi and have them remove CP (component protection) for the amp. It gets triggered sometimes during the update. It will cost you around 100 usd

Installing the second update shouldn't be necessary. Most likely these additional options where coded before and will need to be recoded again. Central locking specifically has nothing to do with the MMI so that is a separate issue. For starters I would recommend having the vehicle scanned for errors and take it from there.

I used the image burner that comes with Windows 10. The main issue with CDs not being read is either CD itself is not good quality or there is some issue with your CD changer. The CDs with which I have had the most success are Verbatim and Sony. Some of the others have been hit or miss.

From what I have seen the issue mentioned in the video mostly happens on cars with Bose audio, but I personally would still advise to do the loop for good measure.

If by that you meant the pre-facelift A6 C6 that was built from 2005 to 2007 and is running the MMI 2G High then yes, it is compatible. If your vehicle, however, does not have the color display, but rather has the red/black monochrome one, then no, it is not compatible. The small red/black display is known as MMI 2G Basic and has its own firmware updates.

1. Are the maps up to date? I see they're for 2018-2019, are those the latest ones?
2. Do you need an official DVD to burn those maps, or is a regular DVD-R fine?

Now to answer the questions:
1. Audi stopped providing updates for the MMI 2G High in 2019. Thus the latest maps are from 2019. If you see a seller on Ebay stating they have 2021-2022 maps for the MMI 2G - they are lying.
2. A regular DVD-R or DVD-RW will do just fine.
3. CD changer does not have the capability to read DVDs. If you pop a DVD disk in there nothing will happen.
Will this work on Audi A4 B7 model?
It won't work B7, as it doesn't have a MMI, rather it uses the older RNS-E.

Shouldn't be necessary, but to be sure there won't be any issues you can still do the loop.
Hey there úr video's are very understandable but I have a question. I have an audi a6 from 2005 and when I press tel it says that tel is not installed. Do I have to get the software updated to get the tel and Bluetooth working or does my car just not have it?
It means that your car just doesn't have that module and subsequently also that option enabled.

If it is stuck on mute there could be a hardware issue with the amp. Still, you can go ahead and try with the update. If it doesn't work, then you can continue troubleshooting further.

From the version MMI version your vehicle seems that it is currently running a North American firmware. However the updates that I have provided for the MMI 2G are for Europe only. I searched everywhere for the American firmware but it has been pretty much taken down from everywhere due to copy-right. You can try and update the firmware with the EU version anyway, but I cannot guarantee that it will work out. The other option is to find a seller that has the correct update CDs for your region. Regarding the AMP, if it is just the basic one (not Bose or B&O) it should be fine without the fiberoptic loop. Green menu can be unlocked with VCDS. I haven't done this on my car so I cannot tell you how to do it step-by-step. Still, there are several forum threads on the various Audi forums describing how to do that in length.

In each folder there are two files. One of the files has in its title EU, which stands for Europe.

No, it will not fix it. Based on the described symptom, most probably the fix of the amp has triggered CP (Component Protection). You will need to go to the dealer and have it removed.

Depends, on the AMP. If it has any of the upgraded ones you will need to. If you have the base AMP, then you will not.
Hallo everyone, I really need your help!? BOOTLOADER version 2.40 MMI (H43) application update. This problem was come when I was trying to install Cd Maxi-Link 2 for Bluetooth receiver BRT 1021719 . MMI is not switch off, is flashing map light on MMI control, is searching Cd players then is load Cd 25% is switching off and on is repeat that time to time till battery it's over charge.

You can skip the loop if you don't want to do it. However if you skip it, CP on the sub might get triggered, you will be left with no audio and you will need a trip to the dealer to get it unlocked. Whether the CP will be triggered is a pretty much a 50-50 chance so it is up to you to decide if you want to take that chance.

Hi. I have bought the dvd’s from audi dealership as wel as optic fibre loop. In insert the dvd and it recognizes everything but on all the updates is says N instead of S/Y. So it won’t update anything. When I try push on “start download” it immediately gives me error: “no devices selected for updating”. I cannot select them manually either. Hope you can help me with this. It is an audi a8 d3 from 2004 with mmi 2g high with software version 0835 so it’s not like it’s not neccesary.
Never seen this error before. If you bought the disks from Audi I would check with them.

All files that are uploaded have been checked and confirmed as working. Do note that MMIs are coded to a region. If your vehicle shipped with European firmware, you cannot install a firmware for another region.

Hi, I am happy that you found the video helpful. There is something that you have misunderstood, however. MMI 2G and MMI 3G are not software versions, but rather hardware iterations. Meaning there are hardware differences between MMI 2G and 3G. Therefore, if you want to upgrade your vehicle from MMI 2G to 3G you will need to take apart the dashboard and change quite a few physical components. In that sense you will be "retrofitting" MMI 3G in a vehicle that didn't come with that.

If you have telephony enabled for your vehicle, meaning you can connect your phone and take calls, they you will need CD2. If you don't have (I didn't either), then you can skip it and just go with CD3.
@@EndlessMotorWorks thanks for the swift reply. I know I have telephone prep high as part of the factory option but when I click on phone it says telephone not installed. I'm not sure if this is a software issue or perhaps the BT module has failed. The car prior to me owning was in energy management so I suspect had a flat battery and I've managed to enable many functions that were not working previously. Kind of hoping if I run the BT cd then it might kick start it into action!
@@r3ggy I wouldn't count on it. When you get the message that the "phone is not installed" it usually means that Bluetooth is not available, the option is enabled or both. Either way, a simple software update is not going to resolve this. You will need the dealer-level diagnostic tool to check what is actually going on.

I got stuck after pressing bootloader from green menu. After your tutorial MMI working fine. But I have problem. Only left side off speakers are playing. No sound on right side.. I did the loop as you shown... maybe you can help me with this struggle? Audi a6c6 2008
No audio or audio from only one of the sides is a telltale sign that the amp CP was triggered the update. The only way this can happen is if the amp was not looped. This is also clearly explained in the video. The only way to remove CP is to have the dealer do it.

What kind of wires? Is the DVD navigation installation also carried out?
Which wires are you referring to? The ones I am disconnecting from the amp or something else? Navigation installation is separate from the firmware update. On cars with MMI 2G and equipped with navigation the navigation computer is in the trunk and has a DVD reader, the DVD with the appropriate maps needs to be inserted there.

The DVD in the trunk is for the navigation and thus separate from the MMI. The only thing you can put in there are navi disks.

Anything that is older than 5150 can be updated to that version without issues, as long as it is from the correct region.

Do you have a disk in the navigation computer that is in the trunk? If it says that there is no navigation DVD, this is the first thing to check. If there is a disk in there but it is not being read, then there could be an issue with the computer itself or with the lens that does the reading of the disk. Either way, updating the MMI will not fix this issue.

No it can't do that. If your car doesn't have the option for navigation then there is no easy fix for that. Also, on these cars there is no Bluetooth music playback, but rather it is only to make phone calls. If you want to play music from your phone you need to check if you have AMI.

The Bluetooth module in the C6 generation Audi is not capable of music playback, you can only use it for calls. You can get one on Ebay, but you will most likely need someone to install it and code it for you.
Hi i dont have the mmi disk drive on the side in my boot. Is it underneath or elsewhere in the car. I have been stuggling to fix it for a while. Its fine when i start the car but then it stops and says navigation info blocked. I have a 2010 audi a6 estate. Any help would be appreciated.
The navigation computer is located in the boot, the MMI computer is in the center console, it is upgraded through the CD changer for MMI 2G or through an SD card for MMI 3G. Which model and year is your Audi?

Great guide mate, well done! Do you have to use the discs in a particular sequence? I have bluetooth phone so should I start with disc 1, then disk two (twice from looking at the comments!), then disc 3? Or go with disc 1 then disc 3 then disc 2?
Yes, you will need to install them in that order. However, the first disk will bring your firmware version to 5150. If you are already on that version you can skip it. Disk 2 is for Bluetooth and telephony. Disk 3 brings the firmware of the MMI to 5570 from 5150.
Right, I'm an idiot. I have version 5170 installed and I have bluetooth telephone. Would I need disk 1? Is there a way to tell if I need to bother with disk 2 for the bluetooth telephone? Will disk 3 take me safely to 5570 from 5170?? My brain hurts...
I've seen a Mr Fix guide that says you can update to 5570 from 5150 or higher. I have 5170 so I'll just do disk 2 twice then disk 3. Good god.
Thank you for the guide, ran into a glitch hoping you can help me solve. I burned the image onto a CD, created a fiber optic loop, got all the way to inserting the CD in the engineering menu to update, but at that point it says "The medium is currently unavailable." Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong? Or are there still pre-made CDs out there you can provide a link to? Thanks again
Does the CD changer work correctly? Do you have any other disks inserted in there. I would start by checking both of these things.

The idea is not to mess with any other vehicle electronics while the update is in progress. Once it is completed, you can do whatever you want.

You will find one that says 3G High and your Audi model (if I remember correctly). You will need to download it and put it on a SD card. However, in the downloads link there are several files in that folder. You will need to see which version you currently have and update to the later versions one at a time just so that there are no issues.

Hi I have an old Audi A5 2009. It doesn’t connect to my phone other than through the aux cord. It does have a telephone button but it isn’t clear how to sync a phone to it. It has a cd changer but no usb or sd slot. It doesn’t have satnav either. Do you have a link where I can access the CD’s to update it? And indeed can it be updated?! I don’t need anything fancy just want to be able to access my phone through the screen fully so I can use Google maps and play music and make calls as needed. Please help!
Basic MMI firmware updates are very rare and I don't have those. They pretty much cannot be found anywhere on the internet for free. If you want to upgrade the firmware in order to listen to music from your phone, I wouldn't bother, as it is not possible. These older vehicles do not support Bluetooth audio playback of any sorts. The Bluetooth connectivity that they have is for telephone only, and that even doesn't always work properly, again because they are old. The proper way to play audio through Aux, Bluetooth or USB flash drive is to have a car equipped with AMI (Audi Music Interface) and use that.
