All of our content is free of charge for the end user and we are proud of this fact.
If you have purchased firmware update CDs or navigation update DVDs and you have a problem with these not being read or any other issue for that matter, this will need to be brought up to the attention of the seller who supplied you with the software. Considering that he was the one to take your hard earned money, it is only right that he makes right by you and ensures everything works as advertised.

The Endless MotorWorks team is proud to present to you the definite guide for updating the MMI 2G. The update process for the MMI 3G in your Audi is quite similar. The main difference is that instead of using CDs, the update will need to be done through an SD card which is formatted in FAT32. By following our tutorial you will avoid triggering the CP (Component Protection) of your AMP. This guide will not only save you money, but also time, as if CP is triggered you will need to go to the dealer to get it fixed. DOWNLOAD links are further down in the description. These links will be updated and always available. Please read the additional instructions marked with an asterisk, as they are quite useful if you are doing this for the first time. * Make sure you put in only one of the versions of the software, not the update for both Europe and North America at the same time. Otherwise the vehicle will not be able to read it
* If you are running an earlier version, I recommend going through each update at a time. Do not simply update to the latest one straight away.

Thank you thank you thank you. It works, but to explain some simple things to people for whom the method did not work through my experience with it, 1. After downloading the files, you must decompress them, copy them to an excellent CD, you must copy the files of Disk 1, then decompress the second file, and copy the compressed file 1 as it is. Because you will not be able to disassemble it and download it on one disk, and then it will be completed with you with ease. The update on my car A4 B8 took 5 minutes and I did not lose any sound and everything works in the correct and smooth way and also the control became faster than before, and thanks to the hero who wrote the video, had it not been for him, I would have lost a lot of money.

From the interior i think you have an s6 5.2 like me - very special and fun car but get ready to solve: coolant leak ,battery that goes down every 7-8 days that you no longer use the machine (deactivate bluetooth under the seat) ,engine light that will look like the christmas lamp that turns on and off when she wants water will come in from the rear window. an acknowledged audi defect that will damage your amplifier, mmi no longer works fm because it will go into component protection, defect adaptive light .I have listed the most frequent things that happened to our colleagues in possession of the audi s6, best regards from italy👌🏻
Damn dude, you pretty much summarized every issue the S6 currently has, except for the water coming from the rear window onto the amp (I had cleaned the drains for the sunroof in anticipation of winter season). However, besides that, everything you listed is an ongoing problem. Due to the weather (it has been snowing for the past several days) and the virus, I don't really have the possibility to work on the car as much as I wanted. Hope the weather will be better next month and allow for some repairs to be done.

Hi, the files are not corrupted, just need to follow the instructions. There are other people who in the comments explain in even more detail how to get burn the files properly. Just fyi, it is not possible to install European software on a vehicle that is from another region, as the car will not be able to read it.

Hallo everyone, I really need your help!? BOOTLOADER version 2.40 MMI (H43) application update. This problem was come when I was trying to install Cd Maxi-Link 2 for Bluetooth receiver BRT 1021719 . MMI is not switch off, is flashing map light on MMI control, is searching Cd players then is load Cd 25% is switching off and on is repeat that time to time till battery it's over charge.

Unfortunately no, as you can see from the video description the Audi Q5 is not a supported vehicle for the firmware upgrade.

For just upgrading the navigation software, there is no need to do that.
Hello..thanks for such a video. When writing to a CD disk, do you write it as an ISO file or do we transfer the ISO file to a folder and write it to a normal CD disk?
You need to burn the image to a normal CD disk (not DVD). For further info please refer to the description. :)

Hi, I am in Australia and am pretty sure I have ROW A6 C6 2007. The MMI in the car is MMI 2G 51.5.0 which of the links below do I use to get the latest update. ROW is only referred to in the 3G updates. Thanks in Advance
Version 5150 is for the EU firmware. Therefore, you will need to download the firmware for MMI 2G for EU, more specifically CD3, which will bring you from 5150 to version 5570, which is the latest one available.

Hi. I have bought the dvd’s from audi dealership as wel as optic fibre loop. In insert the dvd and it recognizes everything but on all the updates is says N instead of S/Y. So it won’t update anything. When I try push on “start download” it immediately gives me error: “no devices selected for updating”. I cannot select them manually either. Hope you can help me with this. It is an audi a8 d3 from 2004 with mmi 2g high with software version 0835 so it’s not like it’s not neccesary.
Never seen this error before. If you bought the disks from Audi I would check with them.

I tried to update my MMI 2G software but it was not reading the CD. It was saying I quote: "Drive error! Metainfo cannot be analysed!" Then below that was saying try again and cancel. I tried several times like that but it came the same text on the screen.
Can you please tell me if I can do something to fix this problem. And my Audi A6 AMP is ASK. Do I need to loop the AMP when I try and update my software which is 3460 version? And last, the DVD ROM that reads the navigation, doesn't read the DVDs that I donwloaded from this tutorial, it says Check your navigation DVD, while with the original DVD it works.

From what you are describing I think you might be having some issues with the actual CDs that you are using. Some other people have had issues with random CDs as well. I have had most success with CDs from Verbatim and Sony so I would recommend that you try burning the software to one of these discs and trying again. Please also make sure that you have downloaded the appropriate software version for your MMI and vehicle.
The links in the description "Audi MMI 2G High Navigation Maps (Eastern Europe) & Audi MMI 2G High Navigation Maps (Western Europe)" are they the latest official 2018 updates or the modified 2019 without TMC?

I don't have the firmware update files for the monochrome 2G Basic MMI. The files I have linked will not work, as they are for a completely different MMI type.

It wouldn't work, as the firmware updates are not interchangeable.

From the version MMI version your vehicle seems that it is currently running a North American firmware. However the updates that I have provided for the MMI 2G are for Europe only. I searched everywhere for the American firmware but it has been pretty much taken down from everywhere due to copy-right. You can try and update the firmware with the EU version anyway, but I cannot guarantee that it will work out. The other option is to find a seller that has the correct update CDs for your region. Regarding the AMP, if it is just the basic one (not Bose or B&O) it should be fine without the fiberoptic loop. Green menu can be unlocked with VCDS. I haven't done this on my car so I cannot tell you how to do it step-by-step. Still, there are several forum threads on the various Audi forums describing how to do that in length.

hello I need help((. Audi A6 c7 2012 MMI 3G+ firmware version HN+R_US_AU_P0409 and need to update it due to bluetooth problems, will the last link firmware help me or maybe you have some link of firmware that I need?
MMI 3G+ uses a different firmware than the MMI 3G High. So the software from the links is not going to be able to be flashed on your vehicle. Unfortunately I do not have the firmware for the A6 C7 to provide you with.
Updated my mmi out of the bootloader but in radio mode the mmi says that Radio Is Not Installed. Great video👍

Check, the video description for firmware for your model and year vehicle. Update process for the MMI 3G is the same as for the MMI 2G with the exception that instead of CDs you use an SD card.

Needs to be burned om a good quality disk. Also just to make sure you are actually inserting it into the nav computer in the trunk. I have seen some people try putting it in the CD changer, that won't work. Making the MMI 2G work with android auto / apple carplay isn't as complicated as it seems. Just need to have a fiber optic module that would allow for this connected. Seen some stuff on ebay, but haven't yet pulled the trigger on it.
Hi! Great video, incredibly huge thank you for providing the links to those updates, something like that is an absolute rarity in the in-car entertainment software scene, as I've had to unfortunately realise. I do have a few questions, though:
1. Are the maps up to date? I see they're for 2018-2019, are those the latest ones?
2. Do you need an official DVD to burn those maps, or is a regular DVD-R fine?
3. (Not particularly related to the subject of the video, just wondering so I don't waste my time burning) Do DVDs work for media playback in the CD changer?

Now to answer the questions:
1. Audi stopped providing updates for the MMI 2G High in 2019. Thus the latest maps are from 2019. If you see a seller on Ebay stating they have 2021-2022 maps for the MMI 2G - they are lying.
2. A regular DVD-R or DVD-RW will do just fine.
3. CD changer does not have the capability to read DVDs. If you pop a DVD disk in there nothing will happen.

First, no need to type in CAPS LOCK. If you change any component from the MMI system in these newer Audi cars it will need to be coded (CP removed by the dealer).
The power drain can be caused by lots of things, but yes, most likely a component is not going to sleep as it should. You will need to troubleshoot this by unplugging every component and testing the battery drain with a multimeter. Usually, the culprit is the AMP but can also be any component in the system.
I never saw this video before updating and now I've no sound how do I fix this is it as simple as buying a new amp or is it a bigger rabbit hole
No need to buy anything. Just go to Audi and have them remove CP (component protection) for the amp. It gets triggered sometimes during the update. It will cost you around 100 usd
Hi , thanks alot you helped me repair my mistake of stupiditly bootloader, but i have a small problem which is i had reverse camera fitted by previuous owner which now doest work anymore :( , also central locking an other many options does not work , i did install eu 2g version and the car is a4 2008 2.7 with bang oulfesen system , but i didnt install the bluetooth and telephone update , should i do that ?
Installing the second update shouldn't be necessary. Most likely these additional options where coded before and will need to be recoded again. Central locking specifically has nothing to do with the MMI so that is a separate issue. For starters I would recommend having the vehicle scanned for errors and take it from there.

Anything that is older than 5150 can be updated to that version without issues, as long as it is from the correct region.

No, you can use the firmware for Europe if the vehicle was meant for the European market.
Hi, currently my MMI is displaying the bootloader screen so I am unable to use the MMI. I've seen online on people saying that I need to just put the firmware disc in. Now I have burned these ISOs to a CD at the slowest speed, and the files are all there, however, on the screen, it searches for the Metainfo file, then says No Metainfo file found. I've made another copy of CDs with trying to alter the filename from Metainfo2 to Metainfo but it is still throwing the same message. Mine is a 2007 Audi A6 with 2G High. The current version of it is 5570. Any suggestions please?.....
If you currently are on version 5570, you will only need to use the last CD. Also make sure you are downloading the one for Europe. 5570 is an European firmware, so this is what you need to be using.
aye my man, the links for the United states MMI 2g High are corrupted, do you possibly have the files that are still working?
If i have DSP audio not bose i still need to loop?
From what I have seen the issue mentioned in the video mostly happens on cars with Bose audio, but I personally would still advise to do the loop for good measure.
If I have a non-bose amplifier but stock that runs on fiber-optics do I still need to do the loop?
Shouldn't be necessary, but to be sure there won't be any issues you can still do the loop.

Of the Audi MMI 3G High Firmware Update files, which I think correspond to my browser, which of all the zip files do I have to unpack into an SD and enter in the browser?

You will need to install first 0031. Once done you can install 0257. What cables do you think you need to disconnect? Except for bypassing the amp, there isn't anything else.

This happens also when the wrong files are used for your vehicle. Are you downloading the correct ones for your specific model, MMI version and region?

The Bluetooth module in the C6 generation Audi is not capable of music playback, you can only use it for calls. You can get one on Ebay, but you will most likely need someone to install it and code it for you.

Vehicles from 2011 should already be using the MMI 3G, which updates through an SD card. If you decide to upgrade the firmware make sure you use the correct one for your vehicle and region. To answer your question regarding the Bluetooth - no. Mi both the MMI 2G and 3G Bluetooth is for telephony only and doesn't support music playback. If you want to be able to play music through Bluetooth you will need to have an AMI (Audi Music Interface) -equipped vehicle and buy the appropriate Bluetooth adapter for it.
I have an Audi 2007 A6 4.2 . My CD player is skipping, I looked it up to discover it be fixed with a software update. My question is would the upgrade work in the CD changer if its skippng?
If the CD player is skipping there is a good chance the update might not work out. You can try to open it up and clean the lens, as that is the usual culprit for skipping. If it is still the same I would recommend taking it to someone to diagnose and repair or simply find a working used CD changer.
I have 06 audi a6 4.2 with 2g high mmi and when I put cd in its says error downloading can't find directory. Please help!

Sorry to hear you are having issues, but I can't sell you the CDs as I am not in that kind of business. How are you burning the CDs? Are you putting in the correct files for your vehicle and region?

Have you have any updates on how I can do that from the green engineering screen if not I'll just loop back the fiber like you did in the video? I'm in North America and my version is 4140 so I'm going to try to update it to 4160 which you have provided over the weekend. Thank you.
I a remember seeing a guide on how to disable certain options of the firmware update somewhere online. But honestly it was a long time ago and I can't seem to recall where I found the info.

No, it will not fix it. Based on the described symptom, most probably the fix of the amp has triggered CP (Component Protection). You will need to go to the dealer and have it removed.

You are correct, this shows only for the MMI 2G and 3G. Honestly, I don't know anything about the MMI in the next generation of A6, as I don't have one of those , so even though I would like to help you out, I simply don't know the answer myself either. :)

Yes, because there is very specific firmware for the A7's MMI, which is not included in the download links. If you try updating the firmware with one which is made for another car it will not work. I haven't included the firmware for an A7 in the download links, because I was not able to find one from a reliable source. You will need to either search for the firmware by yourself and use the tutorial to install it or purchase it from a seller.

I don't really think that that would matter as the firmware files on the CD are not MP3 format.
Hi i dont have the mmi disk drive on the side in my boot. Is it underneath or elsewhere in the car. I have been stuggling to fix it for a while. Its fine when i start the car but then it stops and says navigation info blocked. I have a 2010 audi a6 estate. Any help would be appreciated.
The navigation computer is located in the boot, the MMI computer is in the center console, it is upgraded through the CD changer for MMI 2G or through an SD card for MMI 3G. Which model and year is your Audi?

Thank you for the guide, ran into a glitch hoping you can help me solve. I burned the image onto a CD, created a fiber optic loop, got all the way to inserting the CD in the engineering menu to update, but at that point it says "The medium is currently unavailable." Any suggestions on what I'm doing wrong? Or are there still pre-made CDs out there you can provide a link to? Thanks again
Does the CD changer work correctly? Do you have any other disks inserted in there. I would start by checking both of these things.
I have a 2007 Audi A6 Quattro s-line 3.2L. The MMI & Amp are no longer working. If I by a new MMI circuit board and a 2nd hand amplifier will I be able to get everything working properly by just using this CD update as you describe? Or will I still need to have the 2nd hand amp that I buy decoded? Also how can I find out if my current (not working) MMI is the 2G or 3G version?
If your car is a 2007 that means it is before the facelift and you have the MMI 2G. You will need to have the MMI and the amp coded after you transfer all of the necessary components from the donor car. There is no other way around it.

Any DVD that is god quality. Verbatim should be alright. Regarding the burning of the image, do it at the slowest speed possible.

I have a q7 2006. Its stuck on bootloader . Thr CD changer works i used a vertabim dics as it was told is the best. In terms of the my issue its saying it failed to find metainfo on the mmi screen but on the cd1 i inserted it into my PC i only was only able to find metainfo2 on the file.
Make sure you are downloading the proper files for your vehicle as they are region-specific. If you try to install a firmware that is not made for your vehicle's region the update will fail with the metainfo not found error. Also make sure you are not extracting the image into the disc, but rather burning the image itself.
Hello I can see a folder called macosx for the europe q7 firmware. Do I used that downloaded folder if I'm using a mac os. Also do I need to get a dvd to update the navigation at the same time

Audi a6 c6 f42 from 2006 the problem is the navigation does not find the satellites although everything is functional and does not show any error in vcds.
I suspected that the gps antenna was gone, I tried with 4 other antennas without success, so the antenna jumps out of the diagram to be defective! I was left with no idea if anyone who could be the cause of this problem could enlighten me. MMI 2g was updated two months ago to the latest version available for this, it went well until 3 days ago when it started showing me somewhere in the field even though I was on the road!
You said the MMI 2G had its firmware updated. Did you also update the navigation itself?

I got stuck after pressing bootloader from green menu. After your tutorial MMI working fine. But I have problem. Only left side off speakers are playing. No sound on right side.. I did the loop as you shown... maybe you can help me with this struggle? Audi a6c6 2008
No audio or audio from only one of the sides is a telltale sign that the amp CP was triggered the update. The only way this can happen is if the amp was not looped. This is also clearly explained in the video. The only way to remove CP is to have the dealer do it.

I burnt navigation file onto dvd using windows 10, 2x. both failed to initiate... I have a 2007 (jan) Audi A6 avant. no green menu access, no Aux in.
My 2008 a5 2.7 tdi says to insert navigation disk and there is no sat nav. In order to have sat nav, do I burn the maps on a cd and just insert it in the navigation dvd or there is a different procedure? Is there new maps for free or the latest are as in the description 2018-2019?Thank you!
The sat nav for MMI 2G works with DVDs. So you will need to burn the maps to a DVD disk and insert that in the navigation computer. Once that is done and you turn on the car you will get a message on the MMI stating that new maps have been detected and prompting you to update. Just click yes on that. After a couple of minutes you are all set. For the MMI 2G there are no newer versions of the maps. Audi discontinued the support with the 2018-2019 version.

Depends, on the AMP. If it has any of the upgraded ones you will need to. If you have the base AMP, then you will not.

Depends on how corrupted the firmware is. Sometimes simply doing this update fixes the bootloader issue. sometimes it doesn't. Really depends.

I am not familiar with the firmware upgrade process on a 2018 Audi as I have never personally done one. I am not sure how much help I will be.

The one which says MMI 2G navigation is for the navi only. It is optional as it has nothing to do with the MMI software itself. It is simply labeled MMI 2G Navigation, as it pertains only to that multimedia interface and is not compatible with vehicles that have the MMI 3G.

Can you do this with the engine switched on? I saw that at some point in the video the key was on the forst position (so to say)
You can do the firmware update either with the accessories on or with the engine running. Engine running is actually preferable if the car battery isn't as strong. Please be aware that if you want to do it with the car running it will need to run during the entire update.
Great guide mate, well done! Do you have to use the discs in a particular sequence? I have bluetooth phone so should I start with disc 1, then disk two (twice from looking at the comments!), then disc 3? Or go with disc 1 then disc 3 then disc 2?
Yes, you will need to install them in that order. However, the first disk will bring your firmware version to 5150. If you are already on that version you can skip it. Disk 2 is for Bluetooth and telephony. Disk 3 brings the firmware of the MMI to 5570 from 5150.
Right, I'm an idiot. I have version 5170 installed and I have bluetooth telephone. Would I need disk 1? Is there a way to tell if I need to bother with disk 2 for the bluetooth telephone? Will disk 3 take me safely to 5570 from 5170?? My brain hurts...
I've seen a Mr Fix guide that says you can update to 5570 from 5150 or higher. I have 5170 so I'll just do disk 2 twice then disk 3. Good god.

Your vehicle's MMI is coded for a different region (Japan) and subsequently an EU firmware cannot be installed. I don't have firmware for other regions other than the ones listed already.

1. You wont need to disconnect the amp if it the basic one. The CP only happens with the upgraded amps.
2. Software in the links is an unmodified copy of the original files. Nothing has been touched or altered in any way.
3. I decided to upload everything as I wanted to upgrade the firmware on my own car. I asked around and got unreasonable quotes for something that is quite easy to do. So, I though that I and many other people are being taken advantage of.
What I and the other people involved in Endless MotorWorks do is completely out of the goodness of out hearts. This is not a job for us, we simply do it for the fun of it. As you see the channel is not monetized and we have no sponsors or anything like that. We have decided to try and keep it that way for as long as possible. :)

I had a BT module in my car but suddenly became faulty I had to remove it and put a optical loop bypass
1. When upgrading firmware do I still go ahead with cd 2 as I may want to put a replacement bt module in future
2. If I was to get a bt module like for like from another similar vehicle will I need to recode the module to my car or is it straight plug and play no issues with CP?

@@mohammedaiqbal4447 1. As far as I know, you can go ahead and use the second CD even though you currently don't have the bt module installed. The update should go through anyway. 2. Honestly, not sure. However, judging by the fact that CP is very easily triggered on these vehicles, I would guess that it may go into cp. Still, there might be someone else with more experience with cp regarding the bt module. If you check the other comments, I know someone actually does retrofits and was commenting on cp after cd changer replacement. I think it would be better to ask him so that you can be 100% sure.
Hey, I have a 2008 s5 with 2g. I’ve attempted disc one, but on the progress it gets to about 9% and the status reads unlock (currently at 240 and counting) any ideas?
My suggestion is to try once again. Could be some sort of a glitch. If it gets stuck at exactly the same place a second time, then the CD changer obviously has trouble reading that section. Could be due to a dirty lens on the changer, issue with the CD itself or the way the firmware was burned to the disk. Can't say for sure.

No, it won't. The Bluetooth on the Audi A6 C6-generation regardless if it MMI 2G or MMI 3G is for telephony only. There is no music streaming via Bluetooth. You will need to have AMI with a compatible Bluetooth module in order to stream music.

I used the image burner that comes with Windows 10. The main issue with CDs not being read is either CD itself is not good quality or there is some issue with your CD changer. The CDs with which I have had the most success are Verbatim and Sony. Some of the others have been hit or miss.

You will need the navi computer and wiring that go to the MMI. Lastly, everything will need to be coded to the vehicle.

There are no 2023 maps for the MMI 2G, because Audi stopped providing updates quite some time ago. The latest official Audi navigation maps where from 2018-2019 and I have those linked in the video description. If you see sellers on ebay advertising 2023 or 2024 maps for the MMI 2G they are lying and selling the old version with updated metadata.
