Worked after a bit of a struggle. Originally after unzip the files were in one folder and the car didn't recognize the files. Then I moved the files out of the folder on SD card, the car accepted the files and all went as smoothly as on the video. I have Android auto now. Happy days. Many thanks to the author:)
Hi Serg, did you moved MHI2_ER_AU57x_K3663_1_MU1425_AIO to SD Card or the second folder K3663_1 or directly all the files from the second one to the SD? In addition, within 2nd folder, there is another .zip (downgrade), did you do anything with it? Thank you very much!
Hello, it was with some trepidation that I set about updating my MMI ER_AU57x on my 2015 Audi A7. After downloading and decompressing the file, I put the /1 and /2 folders on an SD card. Then I followed your installation video. 34 minutes later.... Carplay WORKS!!!!! A huge THANK YOU.
I wanted to pay for this update, but after I got the feedback from my service partner that my car wouldn't be eligible for an update I was more than disappointed. Doing a bit of research I stumbled upon this channel and after confirming my firmware version was supported, the risk-reward-ratio seemed acceptable so I took the plunge. I had some initial problems with the SD card I was using (wasn't recognized as a source), so it looked like my efforts were in vain. With a working SD card the process was a breeze, after around 25 minutes everything was installed and CarPlay working flawlessly. I started from the version MHI2_ER_AU57x_S2519_1, now running K3663_1. Thanks for the instructions, awesome work by the smart people who figured this out.
Situation: I have Audi A6 C7 4G, 2018 year. Audi dealer in my country said that it is not possible to have Audi Smartphone interface on my car. I made some research and found that I have this option. Asked dealer center again and finally they changed there mind and asked me for few hundred eur... THEN I found this video. Checked a lot of videos/comments from this channel.. bought SD card, downloaded files, prepared everything.. I did everything by instruction.. this took for me max. 15min... and IT WORKED! I've just install new MMI according to instructions in the video. Thanks very much!!! I have Audi A6 avant C7, 2017, MMI MHI2_ERAU57X_P3634. I've used USB card, FAT 32, no factory reset to keep my settings. It took about 20 minutes, no problem at all, Bose sound system works like before update. Android car works great. And whats more....after new firmware I can also update maps! (before it doesn't work, because my licence ended). Once again great job!

Ok after much fails, I finally got it working, when i extracted the file onto a Sd Card it didn’t work. I had to first extract the files on a Sd card then step 2 click on the first folder and open it contents and then step 3 select all folders and files and cut and step 4 Go backwards to the first folder, as if reopening the Sd card and paste everything at the front, or paste everything on the sd card so when you open it, all the folders 1 and 2 and the other files are what you see. As my Audi A6 c7 allroad 2016 couldn’t read what’s in the first folder. so i had to move everything from within the folder and put it at the front. then it read it and all installed smoothly, once i pressed start update i just walked away from the car with a charger connected to the battery terminals and came back 30min later and it was finished. Thank you so much Mr Fix for a great update, it even updated my Bose sound system and now i have an extra feature, i had just Bass but now i have Subwoofer control and Bass, so i can control the amount of bass coming from the car speakers and the sub separately, But ‼️warning At first the Bose system didn’t work. was not functioning! I had to first connect my Phone via bluetooth and play a song and then it started working!! otherwise the Bose system would not work. Thanks again for everything, Hope these clear instructions helps someone else
Morning From Australia MR FIX, you are a absolute legend :) This was a update i was waiting for ages, you have saved me a fortune. Just purchased my 2015 S7 yesterday and updated the firm as instructed. I was nervously sitting in the car waiting for update to finish. It has transformed my car completely into a modern car. Previously owning a 2016 A7 bi turbo a year and half ago i had to use a aftermarket module and it was clinching !! drove me nuts. Thanks for helping myself and other audi owners for tis update, has made my day :)
Thanks Mr Fix! Used today 21/7/2024. Followed all steps. Audi RS6 2018 MHI2_AUS57x_P3464. Took 17 minutes and now have Smart Phone enabled and latest maps update key. Tried Android Auto, working perfectly.👍

@@setanta1966 yes but make sure that folders "1"and "2" and metainfo2.txt are in the root of the SD card - not the "K3663_1" folder - might need to move the contents out of K3363_1 folder after unzipping to the root
I have been wanting CarPlay for a while and researching it I discovered I needed a box costing hundreds of pounds. This was a few months ago. Decided to research it more recently and found a company locally to me who could do this for £100 by installing a firmware upgrade. I nearly bought it but then stumbled across this video. I have a 2015 facelift A6 C7 with MHI2_ER_AU57x, 2 USB slots under the armrest with one showing the Smartphone symbol . So, I took the plunge and downloaded the firmware. Extracted it onto an SD card then inserted it into the car. It could not detect the SD card however. Checked the SD card in the computer and noticed it was formatted exFAT. Reformatted it as FAT32, extracted the update to the SD card again and inserted it into the slot. This time it recognised the update. After a scary 40 mins sitting in the car with the engine running the update was done and CarPlay was working! Hats off to the developers, a big thank you for this video and providing a link to the firmware. 👍🏻
Just wanted to say thanks and also warn others of one tiny issue that panicked me for a bit. At the very end I clicked confirm and it went in to the final reboot, the screen closed then music started but the screen didn’t open. I waited… and waited but it never opened again. I pressed the open screen button and… nothing. I waited another 5 minutes then decided to take the plunge and turn off the ignition, opened the door to make the radio turn off then closes the door, started the car and everything worked! Excellent and a massive relieve!
The firmware update works great on my 2016 Audi Avant C7. Thank you very much! A tip for others with a slow download speed is to download the firmware with the "Free Download Manager". My download speed went from 60kb/s to 1mb/s+.
I think i have to download with Firefox. i tested with Free download manager but it only says that youtube file is not allowed or something like that. well well. i can wait instead of pay a lot of money here in Sweden to code android auto on a retrofit workshop. :D
Amazing! Just updated my A6 C7.5 (2015) with no issues at all. AndroidAuto enabled. Most likely also CarPlay but cannot verify cause have no Apple phone. Big hand to MrFix and the dev team :)
Legend, just updated my Audi A6 2017 from MHI2_ER__AU57x_P3634 to the K3663 firmware without problem following this, went exactly as shown and now have the Audi Smartphone Interface & Apple Carplay! Saved me hundreds that Audi wanted to charge & change HW etc. Thanks!
All good, audi a6 c7 from 2018 with boose audio system. Shortly after I went with upgrade of the maps since software itself insert a code which is valid till 2030+. Great work and thanks a lot !

I just did this for my audi A7 C7 2015 And it all worked perfectly, very happy with apple car play and I feel like the mmi is running better now than before. It took 34 minutes. I also have the BOSE sound system in my car and can confirm, everything still works as before. I then updated the maps following the firmware update and that all went perfectly as well. I was able to do this whilst going for a drive. Thanks mr-fix !

I can confirm my 2017 A6 with AU57x software and MMI with the technology pack now has ASI. I have two USB connections but NO phone icon on either. It worked perfectly for me. I also just did the map update...again all worked!
@@christianwiens6597 yes, two "normal' USB ports with no smartphone icon on either. Keep in mind, my car had the upgraded MMI (technology pack) so it is possible that they prewired everything from the factory. I did go to an Audi dealer who told me I needed new hardware and software upgrade...delighted I didn't waste 💰 considering this update work perfectly. (The map updated as well but you need to do this update first) My car is a 2017 A6 C7 black edition with technology pack...not sure if this helps. Major thanks to the uploader (@mr-fix), developers and everyone for their comments...the comments from others helped me make the decision to try it. Note...all of this is try at your own risk. Check the supported version in the video description first!!
@@stephendunne749 Hey, I have tried downloading the files onto two seperate SD cards that are FAT32, one 16GB and one 32GB. but when putting the SD cards into the car and going into the engineering menu it does not register that there is anything in SD1 or SD2 slot at all... so no one where to choose the files for the update... any ideas???

Did this in my 2015 A6 Allroad today - everything went as in the video until the last reboot, where in stuck closed and unresponsive for over 15 (nerve wrecking) minutes, before it suddenly worked. Very nice to have these new features, feels like a much newer car now! Thanks!
I updated from MHI2_ER_AU57x_P3634 on A6 Allroad C7 and it works like a charm. Thank you for great work and communication! With fast sd card the procedure took about 15 minutes.
I just did the update on same version on my 2017 A6. Ive got 2 usbs under the armrest with no smartphone icon, but CarPlay works perfectly. I didnt have Audi Smartphone logo in menu, but now i do. Took about 15 mins, but i noticed there were fewer modules to be updated on our version (maybe newer than mr. fix?) Only rebooted 1 time when the update was done. Now on to the map update :-)
This is crazy. Everybody (Audi, 3rd Party Companies) were telling me, my car couldnt have CarPlay. "I need a new control unit....pay 500 bucks". But you prooved them all wrong. :) CarPlay works fine. Thanks man.
Thanks so much! I followed the instructions and it worked perfectly on my 2015 Audi A6 Avant C7, although the download of the update took over 24 hours but it might be something to do with the old laptop as my internet is usually quite fast.

I used USB instead of SD CART (usb port in the armrest without the smartphone icon, but both should be fine) 2 After the update I can now also adjust my BOSE sub 3.I did not do the reset factory and everything is fine

Worked like a charm. If you get your audio settings grayed out just connect your phone via bluetooth as audio player and it will enable the audio menu (subwoofer, treble etc) Thanks!

Worked like a charm on audi a6 allroad 2015! When extracting the files don’t move the second zip file on the sd card. I don’t have any issues with audio (It’s not bose/B&O)! Thank you so much, keep up the good work!
Just done in my audi a6c7 ,software mhi2 er au57x k2519 2, everything works perfect. Just had problem to switch engeniereeng menu (back&left top) but after ...10 times pressing- it switch on,and then I put the sd card 32gb in,but when I scroll down to update - it was grey,so I reset mmi (car,knob,top right),and after that it was in orange colour,so I was able to start update. Android (motorola) working fine,but iphone 11 has problem with connection but I use bad quality cable so probably must buy better one.Thank You Mr.Fix.God bless You!!

Wenn ich dann das Menü aufrufe, bleibt SD1 grau hinterlegt, so dass ich es nicht auswählen kann. Können Sie mir helfen? Hello, I have the problem that my MMI does not recognize the SD card. It's a 16GB card formatted to FAT32. I unpacked the .zip file onto the formatted SD card. When I then bring up the menu, SD1 remains grayed out so I can't select it. Can you help me?
See comment LJD above: EDIT: Solved it by taking folder 1 and 2 out of the host file so they’re directly on the first level on SD rather than within a folder.

Don’t do this upgrade, I done this update and 3 months later it caused my MMI to crash and Audi dealership are charging €2500 for a new unit as they advised files were either corrupt or a virus… in the meantime I must find someone else to see if they can reverse the update or else I’ll have to pay €2500 for a new unit…
Great video! Thank you very much! Very slow download, although I used Free Download Manager, but it was worth the waiting. Took one day for me, but I‘m fine with that. I also had to extract the files from the big folder, because the car didn‘t detect the files. You have to put everything out of the big folder with the firmware name and put only this on the SD card and it will work perfectly!

Success! For me, the key was to have the USB stick having the files and folders as *exactly* as shown in timestamp 3.24. All other instructions were good. Many thanks to Mr Fix and to some of the comments here. Saved a few £££

Amazing! Follow instructions carefully and it will work! Took me a while to get to the engineering menu (press back first THEN top left - on my model at least) and I also didn’t unzip the file to start with so it didn’t identify the firmware on the SD. But after I actually followed the instructions properly it worked perfectly and I have CarPlay 😎
Finally, I got it. I first had to downgrade again to my old version. On my second attempt CarPlay install went smoothly and the map update followed without any trouble. I’m very glad about your famous video
Update worked 👍👍 Audi A6 C7 2015 European version It was 40 min with engine running. I had MHI2_ER_ AU57x The ZIP programs (The Unarchiver, UNZIP etc) didn't want to extract 5 files on the MacBook Had to change to WINDOWS computer and it worked like a charm. You need 5 files for the SD card to be recognised by the car. Both Android Auto and CarPlay work perfectly I also have custom speakers in the car and ... they work even better 🤷♂ Dzięki wielkie, super oszczędność i poczucie że można zrobić coś samemu bez wydawania 1000PLN w lokalnym punkcie CAR Audio 👍 Pzdr K
Works great in 2016 A6 C7 with AU57x. Update took an hour. After unziping you should get the files out of the first folder. Rest of the folders (1 and 2) can stay. Many thanks!
To help others who have my model and version, it worked flawlessly on A6 Avant 4G/C7.5 2016. I updated from MHI2_ER_AU57x_P3236 to MHI2_ER_AU57x_K3663_1. I downloaded it from another place because the one you posted in the description was extremely slow for me, about a 12hr wait, but as long and you download the All-in-one package and K3663 version it should be fine. I didn't have an SD card so I updated via USB, just note you need an USB 32GB or less, otherwise you cannot format it in FAT32.

I just updated my A6 2018. I have a problem at first with MMI not recognizing an update. It is important that files on sd card are exactly the same as on video at 3:24 (5 files in total). After few tries it did work. Great stuff from mr-fix. Wielkie Dzieki z krainy dreszczowców.
Just updated my Audi A6 allroad 2016 with the BOSE soundsystem, no issues. I followed your instructions in the video and now I have Carplay. Thank you so much! 😀 Small note, the folders 1 & 2 from the download must be the first thing on the card, no extra folder inbetween for the car to find the contents of the card. I worried something would happen to the BOSE soundsystem after the "normal" update like not beeing able to adjust Bass and such but everything regarding adjusting the sound seems like normal, again big thanks!

After updating, the settings for the HiFi (bass, trebble, monitoring..) are greyed out and can not be changed anymore

This was a update i was waiting for ages, you have saved me a fortune. Just purchased my 2015 S7 yesterday and updated the firm as instructed. I was nervously sitting in the car waiting for update to finish. It has transformed my car completely into a modern car. Previously owning a 2016 A7 bi turbo a year and half ago i had to use a aftermarket module and it was clinching !! drove me nuts.

@@setanta1966 yes but make sure that folders "1"and "2" and metainfo2.txt are in the root of the SD card - not the "K3663_1" folder - might need to move the contents out of K3363_1 folder after unzipping to the root
I have been wanting CarPlay for a while and researching it I discovered I needed a box costing hundreds of pounds. This was a few months ago. Decided to research it more recently and found a company locally to me who could do this for £100 by installing a firmware upgrade. I nearly bought it but then stumbled across this video. I have a 2015 facelift A6 C7 with MHI2_ER_AU57x, 2 USB slots under the armrest with one showing the Smartphone symbol .
So, I took the plunge and downloaded the firmware. Extracted it onto an SD card then inserted it into the car. It could not detect the SD card however. Checked the SD card in the computer and noticed it was formatted exFAT.
Reformatted it as FAT32, extracted the update to the SD card again and inserted it into the slot. This time it recognised the update. After a scary 40 mins sitting in the car with the engine running the update was done and CarPlay was working!
Hats off to the developers, a big thank you for this video and providing a link to the firmware. 👍🏻

Just wanted to say thanks and also warn others of one tiny issue that panicked me for a bit. At the very end I clicked confirm and it went in to the final reboot, the screen closed then music started but the screen didn’t open. I waited… and waited but it never opened again. I pressed the open screen button and… nothing. I waited another 5 minutes then decided to take the plunge and turn off the ignition, opened the door to make the radio turn off then closes the door, started the car and everything worked! Excellent and a massive relieve!

A tip for others with a slow download speed is to download the firmware with the "Free Download Manager". My download speed went from 60kb/s to 1mb/s+.

Amazing! Just updated my A6 C7.5 (2015) with no issues at all. AndroidAuto enabled. Most likely also CarPlay but cannot verify cause have no Apple phone. Big hand to MrFix and the dev team :)
Legend, just updated my Audi A6 2017 from MHI2_ER__AU57x_P3634 to the K3663 firmware without problem following this, went exactly as shown and now have the Audi Smartphone Interface & Apple Carplay! Saved me hundreds that Audi wanted to charge & change HW etc. Thanks!

All good, audi a6 c7 from 2018 with boose audio system. Shortly after I went with upgrade of the maps since software itself insert a code which is valid till 2030+. Great work and thanks a lot !

I just did this for my audi A7 C7 2015
And it all worked perfectly, very happy with apple car play and I feel like the mmi is running better now than before. It took 34 minutes. I also have the BOSE sound system in my car and can confirm, everything still works as before.
I then updated the maps following the firmware update and that all went perfectly as well. I was able to do this whilst going for a drive.

For those asking about the necessary USB connections. I can confirm my 2017 A6 with AU57x software and MMI with the technology pack now has ASI.
I have two USB connections but NO phone icon on either. It worked perfectly for me.
I also just did the map update...again all worked!

Keep in mind, my car had the upgraded MMI (technology pack) so it is possible that they prewired everything from the factory.
I did go to an Audi dealer who told me I needed new hardware and software upgrade...delighted I didn't waste 💰 considering this update work perfectly. (The map updated as well but you need to do this update first)
My car is a 2017 A6 C7 black edition with technology pack...not sure if this helps.

Did this in my 2015 A6 Allroad today - everything went as in the video until the last reboot, where in stuck closed and unresponsive for over 15 (nerve wrecking) minutes, before it suddenly worked.

With fast sd card the procedure took about 15 minutes.
I just did the update on same version on my 2017 A6. Ive got 2 usbs under the armrest with no smartphone icon, but CarPlay works perfectly. I didnt have Audi Smartphone logo in menu, but now i do.
Took about 15 mins, but i noticed there were fewer modules to be updated on our version (maybe newer than mr. fix?)
Only rebooted 1 time when the update was done.
Now on to the map update :-)

This is crazy. Everybody (Audi, 3rd Party Companies) were telling me, my car couldnt have CarPlay. "I need a new control unit....pay 500 bucks". But you prooved them all wrong. :) CarPlay works fine. Thanks man.
Thanks so much! I followed the instructions and it worked perfectly on my 2015 Audi A6 Avant C7, although the download of the update took over 24 hours but it might be something to do with the old laptop as my internet is usually quite fast.

Worked like a charm. If you get your audio settings grayed out just connect your phone via bluetooth as audio player and it will enable the audio menu (subwoofer, treble etc) Thanks!

Just done in my audi a6c7 ,software mhi2 er au57x k2519 2, everything works perfect. Just had problem to switch engeniereeng menu (back&left top) but after ...10 times pressing- it switch on,and then I put the sd card 32gb in,but when I scroll down to update - it was grey,so I reset mmi (car,knob,top right),and after that it was in orange colour,so I was able to start update. Android (motorola) working fine,but iphone 11 has problem with connection but I use bad quality cable so probably must buy better one.Thank You Mr.Fix.God bless You!!
Hallo, ich habe das Problem, dass mein MMI die SD-Karte nicht erkennt. Es ist eine 16GB-Karte, formatiert auf FAT32. Die .zip-Datei habe ich auf die formatierte SD-Karte entpackt. Wenn ich dann das Menü aufrufe, bleibt SD1 grau hinterlegt, so dass ich es nicht auswählen kann. Können Sie mir helfen?
Hello, I have the problem that my MMI does not recognize the SD card. It's a 16GB card formatted to FAT32. I unpacked the .zip file onto the formatted SD card. When I then bring up the menu, SD1 remains grayed out so I can't select it. Can you help me?

EDIT: Solved it by taking folder 1 and 2 out of the host file so they’re directly on the first level on SD rather than within a folder.

Don’t do this upgrade, I done this update and 3 months later it caused my MMI to crash and Audi dealership are charging €2500 for a new unit as they advised files were either corrupt or a virus… in the meantime I must find someone else to see if they can reverse the update or else I’ll have to pay €2500 for a new unit…
I reflashed my A6 C7 with this version, and have been using it for a year now - no problems!

Great video! Thank you very much! Very slow download, although I used Free Download Manager, but it was worth the waiting. Took one day for me, but I‘m fine with that.
I also had to extract the files from the big folder, because the car didn‘t detect the files. You have to put everything out of the big folder with the firmware name and put only this on the SD card and it will work perfectly!

Success! For me, the key was to have the USB stick having the files and folders as *exactly* as shown in timestamp 3.24. All other instructions were good. Many thanks to Mr Fix and to some of the comments here. Saved a few £££

Amazing! Follow instructions carefully and it will work! Took me a while to get to the engineering menu (press back first THEN top left - on my model at least) and I also didn’t unzip the file to start with so it didn’t identify the firmware on the SD. But after I actually followed the instructions properly it worked perfectly and I have CarPlay 😎
Finally, I got it. I first had to downgrade again to my old version. On my second attempt CarPlay install went smoothly and the map update followed without any trouble.

It was 40 min with engine running.
I had MHI2_ER_ AU57x
The ZIP programs (The Unarchiver, UNZIP etc) didn't want to extract 5 files on the MacBook
Had to change to WINDOWS computer and it worked like a charm.
You need 5 files for the SD card to be recognised by the car.
Both Android Auto and CarPlay work perfectly
I also have custom speakers in the car and ... they work even better 🤷♂

To help others who have my model and version, it worked flawlessly on A6 Avant 4G/C7.5 2016. I updated from MHI2_ER_AU57x_P3236 to MHI2_ER_AU57x_K3663_1. I downloaded it from another place because the one you posted in the description was extremely slow for me, about a 12hr wait, but as long and you download the All-in-one package and K3663 version it should be fine. I didn't have an SD card so I updated via USB, just note you need an USB 32GB or less, otherwise you cannot format it in FAT32.

Who's struggling with the update, need to extract from the zip folder, and then place the files without the main folder on the SD card
Use Free Download Manager. It boosts the speed for this server.

I extracted the zip folder in a formatted fat32 SD card, but the car does not detect the SD as a source, neither the USB pen drive, should i put the files without any folder on the SD?

I just updated my A6 2018. I have a problem at first with MMI not recognizing an update. It is important that files on sd card are exactly the same as on video at 3:24 (5 files in total). After few tries it did work. Great stuff from mr-fix.

Just updated my Audi A6 allroad 2016 with the BOSE soundsystem, no issues. I followed your instructions in the video and now I have Carplay. Thank you so much! 😀 Small note, the folders 1 & 2 from the download must be the first thing on the card, no extra folder inbetween for the car to find the contents of the card. I worried something would happen to the BOSE soundsystem after the "normal" update like not beeing able to adjust Bass and such but everything regarding adjusting the sound seems like normal, again big thanks!
