- For generations, Ultra-Orthodox Jews have been exempt from military service - but a court order could soon change that.
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has filed a last-minute application to the Supreme Court for it to be deferred for 30-days.
But the controversy isn't going anywhere.
Israel's war on Gaza is fuelling a sense of urgency and anger among those required to sign up.
So how much of a threat does this pose to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his coalition?

For all you Christians who support Israel, I suggest you watch TH-cam videos on how Christians are treated by the Jewish people in Bethlehem. You rarely see any national reports about the West Bank and the fact it has Israelis, Christians and Palestinians, all living in that area together.

I think you’re right, the numbers don’t seem to have changed for months. The Israelis have a problem when it comes to telling the truth. I have heard that there are thousands that have been injured and hospitals are having to release patients before they are really well enough.

there is also what is sometimes called "reconstructionist" or 'revisionist' orthodox which basically means just as conservative and tradition except that they don't exclude and marginalize women, as far as I can tell
Ultra-Orthodox try to observe all the rules of the Torah all the time and shun anything 'worldly' like sports or politics or finance and business etc, while 'regular' Orthodox still try to follow most of the same rules and practices but participate in worldly affairs more freely. Whereas 'conservative' means someone that still follows a lot of the oldschool practices but believes in adapting them pragmatically to the modern world and is comfortable with a division between religion and state and secular law etc.

If diplomacy and a practicing democracy is actually in place, no one should be required to take up arms and engage in wars they do not morally agree with. When it comes to universal public service there should be NO exceptions. In times of war there are many jobs that do not require front line fighting - medical service, logistics, etc. If they refuse to serve then they should not have access to welfare or any other social services paid by the taxpayer.
As a comparison, Russia has conscripted approximately 300,000 in the last 10 years, Israel recalled about 300,000 reservists worldwide since the October 7th attack.
The combat zone in Gaza is tiny, so what are all those troops doing?

In 2018 Netanyahu declared Israel a Jewish state. Religious states generally revere their orthodox members and they're allowed special treatment, like treating their wives as dirty objects when they have their period. If they're being forced to fight this means Israel is losing troops. This is happening because despite being a fully militarised state of paranoia their army is ill-trained whilst being over-equipped. Well-trained Hamas fighters are picking them off like flies in the dust of the Gaza Strip and the untrained, terrified Ultra Orthodox will be like shooting fish in a barrel.
So maybe cleaning toilets and floors on the Gaza strip during the ceasefire or not washing your own car when volunteering to drive patients living on the Gaza stirp to other facilites to recieve specialist medical care treatment was not doing any dirty work during the last ceasefire too before some Hamas kidnappers decided to help ensure that the other kind of dirty work you speak of had to according to you be done instead to the degree it is happening right now? Like a Canadian by the name of Vivian Silver too.
