  • If you follow the channel, you know I'm a sucker for a "deal" and the daily deals gets me every once and a while. This time was no exception. This large tactical backpack (go bag, get home bag, etc.) was 50% off (I never know how valid those deals are) so I looked at the specs and decided to go for it. Here is my unboxing and first impressions.

My 2 cents. I am former military [ Navy HM3 ], and an outdoor/ prepping enthusiast for many years. Like you, I have purchased some products based largely upon price, and have learned a lesson that many others also have.
Using inexpensive and poorly made gear for casual purposes isn't a big deal, it will suffice until you discover it has some serious shortcomings. But purchasing inexpensive gear for what may be a life and death purpose is a fool's errand.
As you say, the purpose here is " bug out " or making movement under duress. You want gear that isn't going to suck nor fail at a critical moment. The bag you showed is not the kind of bag you want to bet your life on.
C V Life is one of many purveyors of cheap, poorly made stuff that will suffice under ordinary, casual use. Of course, it will fail over time, zippers will break, stitching will fail, etc. For everyday use, that's just inconvenient. But under life and death circumstances, gear failure can be devastating. Buying this kind of gear has to be purpose driven.
The $40.00 you spent on that bag could have been put toward a more purpose driven bag that will hold up under harsh conditions and probably last a " lifetime ".
How much is your life worth?

Thanks for the perspective. Appreciated. I'm a firm believer in getting what you pay for and my expectations of this backpack align with what I paid.
