Hi Richard... The Fountain Inn at Ashurst was where Paul McCartney and Wings recorded the song Wonderful Christmastime way back in 1979... Happy days...
This is the Richard Vobes that we all know and love !!! A Richard Vobes trekking across the great landscapes of Sussex showing us all the great heritage and nature
Mistingly beautiful walk with a lovely burgundy hat on. Great. Loved it. Saw the deers. So good. Who knows maybe you will catch the white stag one day. Thank you as always.
Beautiful misty views, adds a lovely atmosphere to the video, very different to the bright sunshiny days in many other videos. This looks like a lovely walk, one I would like to do
A lovely winter walk in the mist in the countryside, you can't beat that Richard, fresh air too. I like your hat by the way very nice, lovely Church at the beginning too.
You Earned that Coffee. What a lovely video, Atmospheric Countryside in misty fog, you can feel the coolness of the air. Lots of work involved in the making with a mix of shots to polish the production, it's certainly well made and classy, Very professional. Well Done! Hopefully its also enjoyable and fun, that would be the icing on the cake.
Well Richard , you certainly know how to make a man homesick with your briliant vids. I don't know your part of England so much but it reminds me of Yorkshire and the churches there and the mists and moors. I agree too about the solar panels plonked in English fields, however, I do like the windwills for me they don't seem to distract the views but add something, many would disagree with me but in this age we are stuck with them..
@@RichardVobes Yes, homesick, normally I'd be home for Christmas and walking the fields too, But this pandemic has stopped me, but hopefiully I'll be back home for the late spring which is also a wonderful time to be in England.. Take care, sorry you don't like the windmills, but they have been in the countryside in other forms in the past...
Ah glad the hat is keeping you warm Richard - that sure looked a cold day! the red berries amongst all the grey mist looked wonderful and I loved that hollowed out oak stump
Good to see you out and about, the mist and deer herd certainly added to the walk. I often wonder when I see those solar panel farms, are they grown from bulbs?
A lovely walk. I was surprised when you said it was 11am as it seemed like a very early morning in that mist! I thought the little nativity scene was great too 🙂
Thanks Richard...another excellent video. I laughed at myself earlier whilst putting the kettle on....in my head your theme tune was playing and as i glanced over at the tele I had the odd feeling that I was making one myself and almost started addressing a non-existent microphone...ha ha..but I think you've cornered the market there and very deservedly so. New to your channel I went back and watched some of your early stuff....really well produced, slick even ...but your current style is for me even better not least for being so relaxed, whilst your production standards have remained high. I'm a Suffolk boiy around your age but live in dry and dusty Spain now so the contrast between misty Surrey and my hill village in Andalucia is stark: I never really missed England until damnit I started watching your vlogs! Many thanks again Richard, elevator of the ordinary ...we might say ...so as to speak...
All of your walks this year have been fascinating Richard, and this was no exception. I too have your reservations about those awful glass panels, which invariably carry the same rather sinister threats that decorate the barbed wire fences of some private landowners. I shall look forward to more films in '22 and wish yourself and family, Julia and family, a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
I love your mist (or fog as we call it here in Oregon) walks. Perhaps that is why....it reminds me of home & makes me feels as if I am out walking the countryside w/ you.
Love the misty mornings here in Ohio. I was waiting all the way thru the video for you to remove the burs from your sweater. LOL. Merry Christmas and a very Happy, Healthy New Year.
Another great video Richard. You said on this mornings Naked Englishman podcast that you’re not sure if anyone’s listening, well I for one do everyday!! Keep up the good work. Happy Christmas 🎄
I love your vlogs, I have learned so much about your beautiful country. I’ve been to England twice and I dearly want to return someday. Our history in America is very young compared to yours. I think you would enjoy a trip to my home state of Montana. Our history is really new except for our Native American history. The Little Bighorn Battlefield near Crow Agency is interesting, Yellowstone Park is exciting to see. One of my favorite places is Pompey’s Pillar where Captain William Clark signed his name on a sandstone butte in July of 1806 on his way back east.
Really enjoyed that one, some lovely photos...them people in the big houses will probably be jealous of your free lifestyle 😉 Nicely produced, there's a good atmosphere about you... Happy Yuletide
@@RichardVobes Think it shows the decency of you to actually reply. Have a happy Christmas and a fabulous 2022! Looking forward to the next videos, they're very watchable, a real English gentleman
Love a misty day. Especially if you come across some wonderful wildlife like the deer. I hope you and Julia go in search of the White Hart. I wonder what happens to the land underneath the solar panels? I'm guessing it is in effect 'set aside' and can regain some of its nutrients and wildflowers...or maybe they send sheep under there..?
It's been a while since we had a winters walk very nice always wondered what ashurst was like only seen it as a name on train route diagrams glad the biscuits and new lights are coming into their own
Lovely walk Richard. Didn't get to see nearly enough of England when I visited (circa 1970-71) A wind farm instead of the solar panels would be even worse (in my opinion of course). A fan in Canada.
Another lovely walk 👍 😊 I am in agreement with you about solar 'farms'. I'd rather see farmland producing food and put the Solar Panels on industrial estate roofs or on top of of the many edge of town large shopping units. 😊
I love walking through the mist in the countryside - very evocative! Interestingly, those solar panels are probably keeping that farm afloat - rather have them there rather than no farm at all!
Lovely video Richard, I do like your "titfer". I went for a nice walk on Sunday and I also had the mist and it created an atmosphere especially when I walked through a small woodland. The dog loved it too, she is a puppy and has only recently been allowed off the lead and it was a bit unnerving to see her disappearing into the mist.
Wonderful video as always Richard and so uplifting. Just be careful with 'sugar free' products as they can contain artificial sweeteners instead, which are just as bad. Medjool dates are my favourite go-to for a sweet delicious snack😉👍keep up the great work.
This lovely video aptly demonstrates how our weather patterns are changing. This is our new three season year at work in Southern England -- an extended autumn which leads to an extended spring with little or nothing in between. Think about it........
Your poor feet! That was a pretty cold and wet walk but a nice one. I’m not sure purple is your color but it keeps your head warm. Even though I could barely see the deer there were plenty of them! Don’t your hands get cold? Thanks for bearing the elements for us!
Love these video when you return to the same place at a different time of year and link to previous videos. Was great to see the video with John starting at the same location as this, the church looks beautiful inside. History will thank you.
The solar farm explains what all the security fencing was in aid of. I think sometimes they are put on rather unproductive land. I quite enjoy foggy conditions. The trees really stand out.
How many miles approximately have you covered walking the English countryside since creating your You Tube channel Richard? Great video as always. Thank you so much for sharing with us.
I love fog, l don't know what it is about it, maybe it's the deep smell of winter that it exemplifies and the hope of Spring. Loved the walk Richard. Have you done a video on the church at the end of yours Richard ?
Apparently after 10 years of having solar panels in farmland that same land can then be sold to developers. Hope the law is changed before then or I’ve been lied to. It was on the radio about 18 months ago
Lovely walk, pretty church and nativity scene. I hate seeing fields full of solar panels, much better to put them on top of buildings, but hey ho, thats how it is now unfortunately. So ugly though.
Nice video, though without sounding pedantic, I would disagree slightly on walking with less clothes not more. If you get too warm you can always remove a garment. Also this terrible green revolution was supposed to reduce industrilisation, but just look at what is happening to our beautiful countryside and all that CCtV and electric fencing is quite intimidating.

That looks like a lovely walk. I love to see deer 🦌 roaming free. Glad you were able to get out Richard and it wasn’t too muddy
Luckily not muddy at all.
There is something special about getting back from a walk and enjoying a cuppa and down time.
I love having that cuppa in the van after a walk.
Mistingly beautiful walk with a lovely burgundy hat on. Great. Loved it. Saw the deers. So good. Who knows maybe you will catch the white stag one day. Thank you as always.

Yes, grown from light bulbs.
A lovely walk. I was surprised when you said it was 11am as it seemed like a very early morning in that mist! I thought the little nativity scene was great too 🙂
It seemed much earlier, I agree. They remained like that throughout.

Solar panel ground -- 'set aside', an interesting comment....
I hope the wild flowers return.

Thanks so much.
The inside of the Van looks cool now Richard 😎 .
Thanks, Rob.
Great video Richard in the mist. Wishing you a Happy Christmas. Cambridge, New Zealand.
Same to you!
So wonderful walk.....Best weather for christmastime....thank you very much
Best wishes...Michaela
Happy Christmas wishes to you too :)
Those solar panels must work well on a dull day along with windmills on a calm day!
Yes indeed.
Lovely walk Richard. Didn't get to see nearly enough of England when I visited (circa 1970-71) A wind farm instead of the solar panels would be even worse (in my opinion of course).

Yes, you are right about a wind farm!

A nice thought but perhaps impractical?
Totally agree with you Ann
Even in the countryside they need monitoring by security firms. So imagine placing them in an urban setting with today's vandals.
I love walking through the mist in the countryside - very evocative!
Interestingly, those solar panels are probably keeping that farm afloat - rather have them there rather than no farm at all!
I hope the farm can go back to traditional farming soon.
Lovely video Richard, I do like your "titfer". I went for a nice walk on Sunday and I also had the mist and it created an atmosphere especially when I walked through a small woodland. @@RichardVobes ha ha yes she did I am pleased to report.
Very interesting walk in mist looks nice path to walk it very cold up in North Wales and cold down south enjoy watching
Thanks for watching, Jason.
Misty vibes Vobes! I liked the montage of images just before the final farm and lovely to see the deer. Shame they were not reindeer!
Reindeer would have been perfect!
I love the mist! I am really looking forward to going out into it this winter.
Enjoy it.
Nice! A day of mist and mellow colours...

Oh I agree - I just avoid sugar free processed foods.
Guess if the put the solar panel row apart to let light in a bit the could run sheep under them.
I suppose they would.
Van looks much better without the flippin wooden beams! Lighting does the trick very nicely too.
Thank you, Nick. Getting there.
Lovely vlog Richard. At first, I thought you were trying out a new hat-mounted microphone 😉😂

Grand solar minimum
I am not convinced, John, that much is changing. We have many years that are 'normal' and several that don't quite conform.
Lovely walk .... l have added my comment twice and both have disappeared ..... what have l done wrong?
I am not sure - TH-cam cocked up there, I think. :)
