    So rare to hear your favorite songwriter, favorite singer, and favorite guitarist all wrapped into one sly, kind man.

    Favorite version of Loretta’s Scars. Presenting these songs in just acoustic really brings out the tunes underneath the noise of Pavements songs. Such a good songwriter.

      I did an audio recording of this show but the battery died on the second to last song, lost everything. This was the first show since the breakup, to my knowledge, where he performed any Pavement covers.

      I dropped a class and as a result missed out on an English minor to catch the Pavement reunion tour in NYC. English minors are so valuable so I'm still haunted by that mistake /s

      @@ConfederateDust It's without a source but according to SM's wikipedia: "On May 23, 2003 in Milwaukee, while touring with his new band The Jicks, Malkmus opened the show by saying, "This is off our first record." The band then proceeded to play an evening's worth of Pavement songs, marking the second time Malkmus had played any of his previous band's songs since their 1999 breakup, the first was on April 22, 2002 in São Paulo, Brazil, where he played 'In The Mouth a Desert'."

    it's kind of crazy how he has all these different funky tunings but can still play the song regardless of the tuning (because he doesn't give a fuck i guess)... basically, what i'm saying is that his fingers and mind are weirdly gifted. i don't think many people think about the guitar the way he does.

The 90s revolve around what he did with Pavement, lofi revolves around Eric Gaffney of Sebadoh, drums revolve around faith no more's drummer and the drummer of jon Spencer Blues explosion. You cant compare hendrix and malkmus because 1 is a blues rock guitarists defining the sound with robby Krieger of the doors of the 60s sound the other defining a new sound for the 90s along w/ frank black & thurston moore for the indie 99s sound

      And I won't kill your parents
      And roast them on a spit = depravement?
      And a-don't you try to etch it
      Or permanently sketch it = engravement?

Stage right camera could have started tight on his reflection in the mirror and pulled out to reveal a tight shot on Stephen on stage...If you edited the shots after, totally understandable. But, if you were cutting it live, a director with ADD looking for magic would have made it happen. Good job none the less. Thanks.

    • @josephbeckmann8106
      @josephbeckmann8106 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@mucous-membrane the Jicks music is awesome. Hell, they've put out more albums now than Pavement did haven't they? They're all great but Mirror Traffic and Jagbags stand out to me. Also I believe the newest one that escapes me now but has Xtian man on it. I remember having 242 pavement songs on my computer and iPods before my computer messed up and my iPods got stolen and there's probably 150 Jicks tunes so he's up there with the best as far as total songs put out. So much good music to go round from just him and then some of the Kannberg solo stuff's pretty good too.
