In the case of their fight, it's actually his "Auswählen". The Scuthzstaffel were literally died until Yhwach did that technique to revive them. It's such a slap to the zero squad.
The thing is that the almighty was actually originally the soul kings power so I wouldnt go and call it an ass pull but more a super op power that originates from the beginning of the blrsch universe

Why people underestimate oh-etsu nimaya that much? He alone killed 3 of the elite guards and with tenjiro healing him he killed askin too. Clearly ichibei is stronger but one-shotting 3 elite guards isn't something that happens everyday 😂
How come everyone forgets the fact that Oetsu literally One-Shotted the 3/4 of the Quincy Elites and still killed Askin despite having his blood become lethal dosed. That’s when Yhwach Hax Asspull came in and pulled a revive. Mind you The Elites still have their Quincy Abilities prior to the revive (I’m not talking Vollstandig) Which means Oetsu Killed Gerard Before his Miracle could activate, Killed Lille before he could activate X-axis, and killed Pern as he was about to activate. I respect that Oetsu ain’t that typical ass character that waits for you to power up and just goes straight to business. Mans is clearly underrated.
We didn't forget that's the main reason why people don't like them. They were hyped up to be gods and get slaughtered. The writing of all them was honestly terrible besides jimbei his fight was good. They were honestly well made characters that were destined to die because of how he rushed them into the plot with time constraints. Like it went like this. Oetsu 1 shots them for 0 reason by far the weakest 1 survives for no reason has a whole not needed fight they get revived then die off screen. The pretty much suppose to be strongest shinigami fights the Quincy lord the fight was good but the ending was bad. Then they are to be never seen again.

I’m confident enough to say Zero Squad HAD THE POTENTIAL to be written properly but weren’t because Plot was against them Cuz that would mean the whole Soul Society Gang that pulled up at soul palace versus Yhwach. Instead Kubo changed it into small group fights. Also there was bad writing everywhere like come on bro a good example are the fuckin Vizards who Forgot they had Hollow powers became Plot devices for other characters spotlight power-up (example renji)
People think that Squad 0 are jobbers cause they got their arses handed to them, but the issue is that they were up again an OP opponent like Yhwach. If it was anyone else they would have shut them down straight away, the issue was HOW they were presented.

Hmm I'd say Timeskip Aizen vs Squad Zero is debatable. Especially since Aizen somehow doesn't need to show his shikai to people as an activation for Kyoka Suigetsu anymore.

If they had their bankais shown (I was fine with ichibei) then I would by absolutely fine with them. Also I love senjumaru’s design, with that moon thing and the fact that her arms are sealed.
Ichibei is unique in that he can restore himself using his own power posthumously. After being blow apart by Yhwatch he had Ichigo say his name and he was resurrected. According to the wikki this power is actually separate from the Soken power.
Anyone who thinks squad zero was sad, totally missed how they made that invasion force need a max revive and a decimation of their own army to add their power to their own to continue. It wasn’t a drawn out dragon ball z fight (thank goodness) but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t intense. Most do not realize that samurai fights are actually not meant to be drawn out battles. And like the Zero Squad fight, it’s a few exchanges of devastating strikes and parries to lethal strike at and end the opponent in seconds. Granted, different people have a different take on the story and don’t enjoy that kind of sophistication. Some people can only enjoy grape juice with all of its sugary sweetness, and the complexity of wine is lost on them.

Anime sword fighters arent human their reactions and durability are completely different and who wants realistic fights in anime especially in a shonen it be boring. Everyone knows 0 squad got washed cos Kubo was rushed or lazy or both. At least they shouldve unleashed each of their bankais. 0 squad did absolutely nothing they were just hypemen for the quincies.The whole last arc was disappointing ngl it was just ass pull after asspull couldnt take any of the characters seriously.
Story progression does not always mean ultimate power expressions. Bayukya had so much power in his Shikai alone that it was like his original Bankai, and now what could his Bankai actually look like? But it was not shown. It did not need to show it. Sometimes it’s just to get across a point and Bleach itself is not about dragon ball z level battles. Yeah every once in a while a display of raw power is great but it has mostly been about technique when it comes to the majority of the cast. Characters had to outsmart adversaries whose abilities were specialized and unfortunately the characters were deep within the area of effect where the specialty ability was its most dangerous. Like I said in my original post. Not everyone is capable of enjoying sophistication. Some people are bored with “realistic” application as they are more for the raw “I am Strong! Watch me crush everything you have” stories. I am honestly glad Bleach is not like that. That could be why Ichigo is not my favorite character also as his abilities are based in just increasing his energy output. They were not as technical as Bayukya, Urahara, or Yuroichi. Yeah they were strong but they relied on skill, figuring out the enemy, and out smarting their opponent. So as it pertains to Zero Squad, the story was not based on displays of power as each character had a niche ability. Like anything else under the sun, once you figure out how something works, it makes it easier to dismantle it. And from the beginning they did say that they were watching Soul society for years from a shadow dimension to understand how they work. For all who are not military influenced, intelligence is key. The more you know about your enemy, the easier it is to bring them down and with less effort. The Quincy had about a thousand years to plan from their first interaction 1000 years before. This is all story telling though and clearly some people only watch anime for the cheap flashy thrills.

I dont understand how you call a fight that ends in 3 seconds sophisticated its that classic swordsmen pass each other one guy drops dead look at the fate series those fights are beautiful theres a lot of tact in those fights .Counters, deception , parrying and many more tactics. Fights are long if they are equally skilled. For me shorter the fight bigger the disparity in their skills.
kaputasri I can say it’s sophisticated based on the nature of what bleach has been through out the entire series. Fate Stay is a completely different beast of a story. Those characters can go all out as they technically never truly die. Those battles are even based in a completely different rule system for their reality. Bleach characters get exhausted and can actually die. So each step must be calculated. Look at the fight between Bayukya and the Executioner member with the “Book of the End” power. Kuchiki had to out smart his opponent to use his ability in a literal new way to defeat him. It was compelling story wise. Kenpachi’s Fight on the other hand was as boring as he himself said it was. It then became a moment of comedy in the story. The sophistication is in how the story is unravelled, and Bleach is not a story about flashy battles like Fate Stay. They do have them, but it is more of the application of those abilities and how the characters deal with the ordeal. Kenpachi is the real dbz styled character and he gets destroyed by technical characters that his raw power can’t reach. Bleach has a sophistication that does not always bring “flash and bang” and that is what allows it to really shine. It gives us the game of chess played by Samurai, and even uses special abilities to enhance that game to new levels. And I say Samurai because there is that little reference in the story about Bankais getting damaged or broken. It’s “permanent “ damage so each Shinigami must train to use their sword/Bankai ability correctly or risk it being damaged beyond compare. It’s even cooler to see the types of connections each character has with their sword ability. I Genuinely see Bleach as a action story with enough flash, strategy, and reality that it really becomes a distinguished story. I know not everyone will see what I see, and not everyone can see what I see in the bleach anime. And that is okay. Hopefully by sharing these elements, people have a chance to try and see another perspective other than there own when they just see it as garbage.

According to their power and hype, their defeat wasn't a statement of insufficient power. The Elites have absurd power which can be lethal to anyone. Nimayah was put down by Lille cuz no one knew what he could really do. I could see the others trying to dodge and fail because he can only be aim dodged. Remember when Shunsui tried to dodge it for the 1st and only time without using any of his shikai abilities, he still got hit, so I'm guessing both Lille and Pernida were the MVP. And lets face it, if Pernida decided to sneak attack Kenpachi with a head strike, he's dying, wether in bankai or not and I believe the zero squad is still superior to the current gotei. The captains got by mainly because of plot, imagine a cluster of captains with a cluster of these quincy where anyone can attack anyone at anytime. Whoever Lille aims at dies immediately, whoever tries to attack Lille dies or loses an arm or leg and whoever attacks Askin is a sitting duck. Squad 0 was seen as a quick wash with zero knowledge and the captains were fortunate enough to learn about their abilities nd devised a way to deal with them.

Yeah people tend to forget about this. Battles were not mainly about powers and talents, its also about the information you have, and how you are able to effectively and efficiently use your talents and powers to the fullest together with the right mindset. Its like in sports, you can have the talent, but what's the point of it if you don't put it into good use and moreover develop it. Bleach was able to show this importance in battles even with some of its weak points. Best example would be Kenpachi vs Gremmy
I agree, but don't sell the main Gotei short by saying they somehow had information from the fight against the zero squad that revealed their enemies abilities or whatever. The reality is the Gotei outperformed the Zero Squad simply because those were the characters Kubo wanted to shine. Zero squad, hax as they were, still weren't QUITE up to snuff as being stronger than the "entire Gotei 13."
When animated, I hope we get to see the battles between Squad 0 and the Elite. I know they put up a fight but with Yhwach's abilities, he probably interfered and aided his comrades rather than letting things go down in one-on-one battles. Why let things drag when you can blow through them.

As others have mentioned the zero squad is fine. The fact that they have this immortality makes them in most cases broken; its their opponents that were the problem. Yhwatch literally supercharged his elites with the rest of his armies life force. This was not just couple hundred soldiers either but thousands including some sternritter. None of these hopped up power houses went down without rolling some named characters with them. In fact one never lost and one is still alive and at large according to the novels
I think that people don’t understand that the 0 Squad were hyped up the way they were just to show how strong and dangerous the Quincy were during this Arc, particularly Yhwach.
@@aceclover758 Not a joke at all. Squad zero faired worse against the elite stern Ritter, than the regular captains in the end (and they hadn't even gone vollständig against the elite stern Ritter). Who beat the entire 13 squads single handedly without breaking a sweat? Aizen. He literally soloed all of them basically with his bare hands. Aizen in base form was already far beyond any of the captains even combined. There is absolutely no reason to assume that any of squad zero would have a chance against him, even if he didn't use Kyouka Suigetsu.
@@gh0un The Elite Sternritter we’re beaten through circumstance (Lile and Gerald) while the others weren’t overpowered, they were outsmarted or out skilled despite their overwhelming powers. Shunsui was saved by Nanoe and her plot device sword Gerald had to be killed by Ywach to be permanently defeated. Kisuke has shown to be above majority of the other captains as well Mayuri not only had help but fought a battle of progression, allowing him to survive as long as he did and the fact he is the most ingenuity captain next to Aizen and Kisuke. Also Squad Zeros failure is part of bad writing due to the author being rushed. Aizen did overpower half of the Gotei 13, not all as the stronger captains besides Shunsui didn’t fight him there Aizen also admitted Yamamoto was the only captain of the Gotei the former could not stand against
Because of how ywhach became by slowly gathering his strength to then use the almighty is the reason the zero squad got beat as badly as they did. I mean this something the Quincy’s have been planning since they lost a thousand years ago, of course they were going to learn from their mistakes. But this is just my opinion.
Same, I read a lot of comments in other video where people say that sternritter had plot armor but it's not true. They already lost one time so it was obvious that they would have been prepared well to fight them again, they collected a lot of data while shinigami had nothing about them. It was obvious that sternritter had great advantage, they even found a way to steal bankai. It's simple logic.
Still it was BS that Zero Squad get rekt by them but Gotei 13 was somehow able to beat them. When they were introduced Shunsui said they are combined stronger than all of Gotei 13 yet later Gotei 13 won against Sternritters and I am asking when Gotei got power up to be stronger than Zeri Squad. If Kubo woud be better writer he would let them escape and team up with Gotei to defeat

For lille shunsui needed nanao's help to defeat him; for gerard even using the strongest bankai techniques of byakuya, toshiro and kenpachi didn't kill gerard; mayuri defeated pernida with nemu's sacrifice and for askin urahara needed grimmjow's help. Nimaya killed them 3 of them alone and askin with tenjiro's support. The only problem was yhwach who resurrected them.
Sacrifice not sacrifice Goten 13 still beaten stronger version of elite guards who one-shotted nimaya. And then they vanished for rest of the story with no f*ck given and their fate we will find out in light novel. Bad writing at its finest

Meanwhile the Gotei 13 had to beat them with the need at least 1 other person to help them. That too with very peculiar tricks & still 2 of them weren't completely died lol. In conclusion, Gotei 13 were not strong enough to defeat them instantly, which made them able to use their special powers & attacks against their enemies. Whereas Nimaiya alone can kill them quickly lol.
People love saying they got washed, oetsu blitzed them by himself. They legit got a boost I'm power, than activated there haxed ability. Oetsu was also confident in cutting yhwach up. The others we can say we don't know how they died and the rushing of the writing. But we got to give them more credit, the gotei was struggling against regular fighters. Yhwach legit was like let's leave before squad zero comes and his shrift almighty is really what saved him
I concur. The readers overlooked a lot of Zero Division feats, only they could have performed. Ouestu's performance was outstanding. So was Ichibei. The Zero Division displayed their strength in a wide variety of ways. Byakuya was a goner had it not been for Kirinji's hot springs and healing techniques. He literally performed a blood transfusion on Byakuya. Kirio Hikifune helped bolster the spiritual pressures of Renji, Rukia and Ichigo with her reishi infused food. This was so they could withstand Ichibei and Ouestu's training. I'm assuming Byakuya received the same treatment, if not greater, as someone who is of Royal heritage. Senjumaru assisted with the finest shinigami robes, which have protection properties, increasing their overall resilience to damage in battle. Ichibei highlighted each of their weaknesses and what they need to work on, in order to get stronger. Ouestu re-forged Ichigo's Zangpak, and opened his eyes to the true nature of his power, and what he really is. None of them would have survived without the aid of the Zero Division.
The problem is that we were told the the five members of squad zero are stronger than the 13 captains but when the fighting started they got decimated off screen and then the job of cleaning up went to the regular 13 captains that we were told are weaker than squad zero. So the problem is that we were told that they are overpowered but we did not see it, imagine if someone said Aizen is very powerful but then he gets defeated off screen same thing here
Nimaya actually one-shotted 3 of the elite guards of yhwach alone so he's very strong actually, with tenjiro's help he killed askin too. The other showed no feats. It's safe to say that ichibe and nimaya are at least the 70% of squad 0's strenght, ichibei is clearly stronger though.
I'm glad that the anime is expanding on squad zero and their fights cause they honestly deserve it since they represent fundamental aspects of the setting
They got washed because Yhwach ressurected them and increased their power. Nimaiya cut down every one of them ,with the of exception Askin . Which was only because he cant be killed by normal means . Even tho Grimmjow did crush his heart ....
I always believe that the "disappointment" we felt for the Zero Division was due to the [business] pressure on Kubo in the real world, making the whole story "rushed".
Yes most of us knew Kubo was rushed but I wouldn't stand by that ever. Rushed is mainly the reason for the bad ending as well, but that doesn't justify the tons of filler Kubo had to make in between- The fight between Shunsui and Lille is the prime example of extending scenes too much for nothing

The tailoring chick was really hyped up with her scene talking down to Unohana but in the end Unohana was wayyyyy more badass.... “stronger than the entire gotei 13” felt like a blatant lie.
Nah Ywhach had to literally murder and harvest the souls/powers of his entire army(thousands of soldiers) and redistribute the power to his 4 Elites to clutch the W
i just finished reading the manga and squad zero was so overhyped. they seemed cool when they first started fighting but they got destroyed by those 3 or 4 sternritters i cant remember. they didnt even use their final forms. turned out some of the gotei 13 captains were stronger than the squad zero members, it was actually weird asf. yoruichi and kisuke alone were able to defeat one of them, the left arm of the soul king quincy was defeated by kurotsuchi, the sniper quincy was defeated by shunsui and nanao, and then the valkyrie quincy is still alive or i think hes dead but he was basically unkillable and was being held by zaraki majority of the time, sometimes hitsugaya and byakuya. honestly i think it would be better if squad zero died off and those characters mentioned become the new squad zero because if they return thats just embarrassing.
This is my thought, maybe only my thought. If you cannot bring yourself back together/life after what appears to kill you without the intervention of someone or something else, that is not immortality. It's called resurrection.
Here after watching the cour 2 finale that introduced us all to Senjumaru's bankai and its amazing to see how all of it was spontaneosly added and executed. The manga led us all to believe Squad 0 was weak as shit but the new episode showed Senjumaru's bankai alone was able to disrput all 3 worlds. I'm so glad they expanded more on squad 0 in the anime. I think the major issue with this arc was that all the fights could be the same divided into 3 categories of bullshit- 1. Combatants essentially pulling a bunch of reverse uno cards until one of them drops. 2. Combatants with specific power gimmicks taking it to parody-isque levels: "I can now frighten inanimate objects, I can now freeze fear itself, I could cut all matter now I can cut vacuum, I can transcend common sense until plot says otherwise" and 3. "I knew you would use this particular unforseen 'batshit hax' so I conveniently created this particular 'batshit hax'-countering device which was never hinted at before".
Squad zero isn't weak. They just lost to people who are extremely over-powered. Even Kenpachi bankai, adult hitsuguya and byakuya couldn't beat Gerard. (Yes I know it's not full power) Zaraki is one of the special threats too. Squad zero is as strong as the gotei 13 or stronger, but the elites are even stronger. Lillie alone could probably beat the entire gotei 13, Gerard alone could also beat the entire gotei 13.
I believe it he was with tousen since a kid I could see him killing him outta mercy not wanting him die with regrets……and tbh Aizen knew the real TOUSEN
I hope after this last arc, They would make BLEACH Can't Fear Your Own World into Anime or atleast show us that Squad Zero somehow already revived at the end
This might be one of those things where the author had the character in their head for awhile and forgets that it isn't as epic to the reader as it is to them.

Echoing every other comment, I knew they'd get washed, it isn't their story after all, but that doesn't make what they pulled off against a nonsensically strong powerhouse like Ywach not impressive.
I dunno, I honestly think that they don't need to be very good at fighting, because they compensate their fighting skills with their other humongous contributions for the entire shinigami world. So in truth they're a bunch of awesome and influential people in their own respective department. The problem in their writing and what led them into a disappointing characters was that it was stated that they're "THE Royal Guards", "THE last line of defense to protect the Soul King", and that throwaway line about them being "Stronger than the whole 13 squad", so we expect that they're really good at fighting. Kubo doesn't need to hype them in that way, because saying they have huge contributions and their inventions for the entire soul society is already awesome, he doesn't need to hype up their strength.
Yamaji was a monster compared to those clowns except for ichibe. Wish there was a guy like Yamamoto in 0 squad.The 0 squad was too friendly imo couldnt take them seriously they needed a guy that was old ,badass and take no prisoners attitude.
Ichibei put up a real fight against Yhwach and is the only one that I actually liked. If Yhwach wasn't so stupidly overpowered he would of been killed or stopped permanently at Ichibei.
Unohana could've been a part of that squad. She contributed big to Soul Society by inventing the art of killing and 8000 sword styles. Maybe she was invited but declined due to her being a Kenpachi.

I think Kubo just thought, what if Aizen fought for the shinigami, wouldn't that be cool? So he worked from there and had to create a character that needed to be stronger than Aizen after he fused with his zanpakuto and thr hougyoku. Also, the arc was Ishida focused, so the new bad had to be related to the Quiencies (with Rukia, Orihime and Sado having one arc focused around them).
Why does no one ever mention that tenjiro literally invented kaido, healing kido? And the arm lady is confirmed to have made the uniforms of the gotei 13
Squad 0 is a good idea poorly implemented. Ichibei, Otesu, Kirio, Senjumara, Tenjiro have abilities that are pillar concepts to the soul society (Ichibei named everything, Otesu made zanpaktou, Senjumara made the cloths etc) that makes them revelatory to the foundation of the soul society and the whole Bleach story. They get off-screened by Yhwach's own version of "Squad Zero" while the lesser shinigami were the ones that stopped Yhwach... They should of got their own arc, showing us how 0 squad founded the soul society with the Soul King. Wasted Potential.
Yea, but only ichibe was around before the sealing of the soul king. oetsu came a little bit after, then everyone else. Hell, Hikifune has only been in squad zero for a little over 115 years and is way younger than the others. Even Tenjiro is relatively young (the novel puts Ichibe at just over 1 million years old - far older than Yama even).
Oetsu Nimaiya is the creator of a zanpakuto named Asauchi, the nameless zanpakuto. He called himself as the best zanpakuto creator. Which means, Asauchi is not the only way for shinigami to create zanpakuto. The defeats of Zero Squad is the will of the Soul King bcoz after/before (cant remember) the arrival of Ichigo at the Soul King Palace, Ichibe had a meeting with the Soul King.
ywach was the new soul king. similar to the former soul king who was basically the god of bleach universe. squad 0 are just body guards to soul king. basically ywach wipes the floor with them. thats just how op ywach is. he was aizen on god level. best believe gotei 13 couldnt touch him. with any luck, bleach continues and we get to see how hes defeated. quincies and soul reapers are on the same level. yhwach used them to wipe out soul society so he can just walk to the soul kings throne
The only Zero squad that were good were Ichibe and Oetsu. Ichibe could have won but Yhwach's "The Almighty" skill awoke and just overpowered him with its BS. Oetsu killed Gerard, Lille, Pernida and Askin (with help) before they knew what happened and they were no joke powered up or not, guys a beast. Rest of Zero squad were pretty uesless in the fights and did nothing of note or value but get bodied. Maybe they could do more but we never saw it, just the aftermath.

In the case of their fight, it's actually his "Auswählen". The Scuthzstaffel were literally died until Yhwach did that technique to revive them. It's such a slap to the zero squad.

That's what I'm saying, Ohetsu literally STOMPED Yhwach's squad like foh it took revivals and hella hax to stop him.
How come everyone forgets the fact that Oetsu literally One-Shotted the 3/4 of the Quincy Elites and still killed Askin despite having his blood become lethal dosed. That’s when Yhwach Hax Asspull came in and pulled a revive. Mind you The Elites still have their Quincy Abilities prior to the revive (I’m not talking Vollstandig) Which means Oetsu Killed Gerard Before his Miracle could activate, Killed Lille before he could activate X-axis, and killed Pern as he was about to activate. I respect that Oetsu ain’t that typical ass character that waits for you to power up and just goes straight to business. Mans is clearly underrated.
We didn't forget that's the main reason why people don't like them. They were hyped up to be gods and get slaughtered. The writing of all them was honestly terrible besides jimbei his fight was good. They were honestly well made characters that were destined to die because of how he rushed them into the plot with time constraints. Like it went like this. Oetsu 1 shots them for 0 reason by far the weakest 1 survives for no reason has a whole not needed fight they get revived then die off screen. The pretty much suppose to be strongest shinigami fights the Quincy lord the fight was good but the ending was bad. Then they are to be never seen again.

I’m confident enough to say Zero Squad HAD THE POTENTIAL to be written properly but weren’t because Plot was against them Cuz that would mean the whole Soul Society Gang that pulled up at soul palace versus Yhwach. Instead Kubo changed it into small group fights. People think that Squad 0 are jobbers cause they got their arses handed to them, but the issue is that they were up again an OP opponent like Yhwach. If it was anyone else they would have shut them down straight away, the issue was HOW they were presented.

Hmm I'd say Timeskip Aizen vs Squad Zero is debatable. Especially since Aizen somehow doesn't need to show his shikai to people as an activation for Kyoka Suigetsu anymore.

Ichibei is unique in that he can restore himself using his own power posthumously. After being blow apart by Yhwatch he had Ichigo say his name and he was resurrected. According to the wikki this power is actually separate from the Soken power.
Ichibei probably is also the one that put that reviving power on the Soken too.

Anyone who thinks squad zero was sad, totally missed how they made that invasion force need a max revive and a decimation of their own army to add their power to their own to continue. It wasn’t a drawn out dragon ball z fight (thank goodness) but that doesn’t mean it wasn’t intense.
Most do not realize that samurai fights are actually not meant to be drawn out battles. And like the Zero Squad fight, it’s a few exchanges of devastating strikes and parries to lethal strike at and end the opponent in seconds. Granted, different people have a different take on the story and don’t enjoy that kind of sophistication. Some people can only enjoy grape juice with all of its sugary sweetness, and the complexity of wine is lost on them.

Anime sword fighters arent human their reactions and durability are completely different and who wants realistic fights in anime especially in a shonen it be boring. Everyone knows 0 squad got washed cos Kubo was rushed or lazy or both. At least they shouldve unleashed each of their bankais. 0 squad did absolutely nothing they were just hypemen for the quincies.The whole last arc was disappointing ngl it was just ass pull after asspull couldnt take any of the characters seriously.
Story progression does not always mean ultimate power expressions. Bayukya had so much power in his Shikai alone that it was like his original Bankai, and now what could his Bankai actually look like? But it was not shown. It did not need to show it. Sometimes it’s just to get across a point and Bleach itself is not about dragon ball z level battles. Yeah every once in a while a display of raw power is great but it has mostly been about technique when it comes to the majority of the cast. Characters had to outsmart adversaries whose abilities were specialized and unfortunately the characters were deep within the area of effect where the specialty ability was its most dangerous.
Like I said in my original post. Not everyone is capable of enjoying sophistication. Some people are bored with “realistic” application as they are more for the raw “I am Strong! Watch me crush everything you have” stories. I am honestly glad Bleach is not like that. That could be why Ichigo is not my favorite character also as his abilities are based in just increasing his energy output. They were not as technical as Bayukya, Urahara, or Yuroichi. Yeah they were strong but they relied on skill, figuring out the enemy, and out smarting their opponent.
So as it pertains to Zero Squad, the story was not based on displays of power as each character had a niche ability. Like anything else under the sun, once you figure out how something works, it makes it easier to dismantle it. And from the beginning they did say that they were watching Soul society for years from a shadow dimension to understand how they work. For all who are not military influenced, intelligence is key. The more you know about your enemy, the easier it is to bring them down and with less effort. The Quincy had about a thousand years to plan from their first interaction 1000 years before.
This is all story telling though and clearly some people only watch anime for the cheap flashy thrills.

I dont understand how you call a fight that ends in 3 seconds sophisticated its that classic swordsmen pass each other one guy drops dead look at the fate series those fights are beautiful theres a lot of tact in those fights .Counters, deception , parrying and many more tactics. Fights are long if they are equally skilled. For me shorter the fight bigger the disparity in their skills.
kaputasri I can say it’s sophisticated based on the nature of what bleach has been through out the entire series. Fate Stay is a completely different beast of a story. Those characters can go all out as they technically never truly die. Those battles are even based in a completely different rule system for their reality.
Bleach characters get exhausted and can actually die. So each step must be calculated. Look at the fight between Bayukya and the Executioner member with the “Book of the End” power. Kuchiki had to out smart his opponent to use his ability in a literal new way to defeat him. It was compelling story wise. Kenpachi’s Fight on the other hand was as boring as he himself said it was. It then became a moment of comedy in the story.
The sophistication is in how the story is unravelled, and Bleach is not a story about flashy battles like Fate Stay. They do have them, but it is more of the application of those abilities and how the characters deal with the ordeal. Kenpachi is the real dbz styled character and he gets destroyed by technical characters that his raw power can’t reach.
Bleach has a sophistication that does not always bring “flash and bang” and that is what allows it to really shine. It gives us the game of chess played by Samurai, and even uses special abilities to enhance that game to new levels. And I say Samurai because there is that little reference in the story about Bankais getting damaged or broken. It’s “permanent “ damage so each Shinigami must train to use their sword/Bankai ability correctly or risk it being damaged beyond compare. It’s even cooler to see the types of connections each character has with their sword ability.
I Genuinely see Bleach as a action story with enough flash, strategy, and reality that it really becomes a distinguished story.
I know not everyone will see what I see, and not everyone can see what I see in the bleach anime. And that is okay. Hopefully by sharing these elements, people have a chance to try and see another perspective other than there own when they just see it as garbage.

According to their power and hype, their defeat wasn't a statement of insufficient power. The Elites have absurd power which can be lethal to anyone. Nimayah was put down by Lille cuz no one knew what he could really do. I could see the others trying to dodge and fail because he can only be aim dodged. Remember when Shunsui tried to dodge it for the 1st and only time without using any of his shikai abilities, he still got hit, so I'm guessing both Lille and Pernida were the MVP. And lets face it, if Pernida decided to sneak attack Kenpachi with a head strike, he's dying, wether in bankai or not and I believe the zero squad is still superior to the current gotei. The captains got by mainly because of plot, imagine a cluster of captains with a cluster of these quincy where anyone can attack anyone at anytime. Whoever Lille aims at dies immediately, whoever tries to attack Lille dies or loses an arm or leg and whoever attacks Askin is a sitting duck. Squad 0 was seen as a quick wash with zero knowledge and the captains were fortunate enough to learn about their abilities nd devised a way to deal with them.

Yeah people tend to forget about this. Battles were not mainly about powers and talents, its also about the information you have, and how you are able to effectively and efficiently use your talents and powers to the fullest together with the right mindset. Its like in sports, you can have the talent, but what's the point of it if you don't put it into good use and moreover develop it. Bleach was able to show this importance in battles even with some of its weak points. Best example would be Kenpachi vs Gremmy
I agree, but don't sell the main Gotei short by saying they somehow had information from the fight against the zero squad that revealed their enemies abilities or whatever. The reality is the Gotei outperformed the Zero Squad simply because those were the characters Kubo wanted to shine. Zero squad, hax as they were, still weren't QUITE up to snuff as being stronger than the "entire Gotei 13."
When animated, I hope we get to see the battles between Squad 0 and the Elite. I know they put up a fight but with Yhwach's abilities, he probably interfered and aided his comrades rather than letting things go down in one-on-one battles. Why let things drag when you can blow through them.

As others have mentioned the zero squad is fine. The fact that they have this immortality makes them in most cases broken; its their opponents that were the problem. Yhwatch literally supercharged his elites with the rest of his armies life force. This was not just couple hundred soldiers either but thousands including some sternritter. None of these hopped up power houses went down without rolling some named characters with them. In fact one never lost and one is still alive and at large according to the novels
I think that people don’t understand that the 0 Squad were hyped up the way they were just to show how strong and dangerous the Quincy were during this Arc, particularly Yhwach.
Imo each of them would prove too much for base Aizen

Kisuke has shown to be above majority of the other captains as well
Mayuri not only had help but fought a battle of progression, allowing him to survive as long as he did and the fact he is the most ingenuity captain next to Aizen and Kisuke.
Also Squad Zeros failure is part of bad writing due to the author being rushed.
Aizen did overpower half of the Gotei 13, not all as the stronger captains besides Shunsui didn’t fight him there

Because of how ywhach became by slowly gathering his strength to then use the almighty is the reason the zero squad got beat as badly as they did.

Same, I read a lot of comments in other video where people say that sternritter had plot armor but it's not true. They already lost one time so it was obvious that they would have been prepared well to fight them again, they collected a lot of data while shinigami had nothing about them. It was obvious that sternritter had great advantage, they even found a way to steal bankai. It's simple logic.
Still it was BS that Zero Squad get rekt by them but Gotei 13 was somehow able to beat them.
When they were introduced Shunsui said they are combined stronger than all of Gotei 13 yet later Gotei 13 won against Sternritters and I am asking when Gotei got power up to be stronger than Zeri Squad.

For lille shunsui needed nanao's help to defeat him; for gerard even using the strongest bankai techniques of byakuya, toshiro and kenpachi didn't kill gerard; mayuri defeated pernida with nemu's sacrifice and for askin urahara needed grimmjow's help.
Nimaya killed them 3 of them alone and askin with tenjiro's support. The only problem was yhwach who resurrected them.
Sacrifice not sacrifice Goten 13 still beaten stronger version of elite guards who one-shotted nimaya.
And then they vanished for rest of the story with no f*ck given and their fate we will find out in light novel. Bad writing at its finest

In conclusion, Gotei 13 were not strong enough to defeat them instantly, which made them able to use their special powers & attacks against their enemies. Whereas Nimaiya alone can kill them quickly lol.

People love saying they got washed, oetsu blitzed them by himself. They legit got a boost I'm power, than activated there haxed ability. Oetsu was also confident in cutting yhwach up. The others we can say we don't know how they died and the rushing of the writing. But we got to give them more credit, the gotei was struggling against regular fighters. Yhwach legit was like let's leave before squad zero comes and his shrift almighty is really what saved him
I concur. The readers overlooked a lot of Zero Division feats, only they could have performed.
Ouestu's performance was outstanding. So was Ichibei.
The Zero Division displayed their strength in a wide variety of ways.
Byakuya was a goner had it not been for Kirinji's hot springs and healing techniques. He literally performed a blood transfusion on Byakuya.
Kirio Hikifune helped bolster the spiritual pressures of Renji, Rukia and Ichigo with her reishi infused food. This was so they could withstand Ichibei and Ouestu's training. I'm assuming Byakuya received the same treatment, if not greater, as someone who is of Royal heritage.
Senjumaru assisted with the finest shinigami robes, which have protection properties, increasing their overall resilience to damage in battle.
Ichibei highlighted each of their weaknesses and what they need to work on, in order to get stronger. Ouestu re-forged Ichigo's Zangpak, and opened his eyes to the true nature of his power, and what he really is.
None of them would have survived without the aid of the Zero Division.

The problem is that we were told the the five members of squad zero are stronger than the 13 captains but when the fighting started they got decimated off screen and then the job of cleaning up went to the regular 13 captains that we were told are weaker than squad zero. So the problem is that we were told that they are overpowered but we did not see it, imagine if someone said Aizen is very powerful but then he gets defeated off screen same thing here

Nimaya actually one-shotted 3 of the elite guards of yhwach alone so he's very strong actually, with tenjiro's help he killed askin too. The other showed no feats. It's safe to say that ichibe and nimaya are at least the 70% of squad 0's strenght, ichibei is clearly stronger though.
I'm glad that the anime is expanding on squad zero and their fights cause they honestly deserve it since they represent fundamental aspects of the setting

I always believe that the "disappointment" we felt for the Zero Division was due to the [business] pressure on Kubo in the real world, making the whole story "rushed".
Yes most of us knew Kubo was rushed but I wouldn't stand by that ever. Rushed is mainly the reason for the bad ending as well, but that doesn't justify the tons of filler Kubo had to make in between- The fight between Shunsui and Lille is the prime example of extending scenes too much for nothing
and last anime episode showed it these guys are way too powerful that if they ystart their bankai at sme time the 3 wolrds will collapse

i just finished reading the manga and squad zero was so overhyped. they seemed cool when they first started fighting but they got destroyed by those 3 or 4 sternritters i cant remember. they didnt even use their final forms. turned out some of the gotei 13 captains were stronger than the squad zero members, it was actually weird asf. yoruichi and kisuke alone were able to defeat one of them, the left arm of the soul king quincy was defeated by kurotsuchi, the sniper quincy was defeated by shunsui and nanao, and then the valkyrie quincy is still alive or i think hes dead but he was basically unkillable and was being held by zaraki majority of the time, sometimes hitsugaya and byakuya. honestly i think it would be better if squad zero died off and those characters mentioned become the new squad zero because if they return thats just embarrassing.
This is my thought, maybe only my thought. If you cannot bring yourself back together/life after what appears to kill you without the intervention of someone or something else, that is not immortality. It's called resurrection.
Here after watching the cour 2 finale that introduced us all to Senjumaru's bankai and its amazing to see how all of it was spontaneosly added and executed. The manga led us all to believe Squad 0 was weak as shit but the new episode showed Senjumaru's bankai alone was able to disrput all 3 worlds. I'm so glad they expanded more on squad 0 in the anime. I was... okay with Squad 0. More disappointed more than anything by the lack of their showing, but, I liked them well enough.
I think the major issue with this arc was that all the fights could be the same divided into 3 categories of bullshit- 1. Combatants essentially pulling a bunch of reverse uno cards until one of them drops. 2. Combatants with specific power gimmicks taking it to parody-isque levels: "I can now frighten inanimate objects, I can now freeze fear itself, I could cut all matter now I can cut vacuum, I can transcend common sense until plot says otherwise" and 3. "I knew you would use this particular unforseen 'batshit hax' so I conveniently created this particular 'batshit hax'-countering device which was never hinted at before".
These 5 were so awesome but were just used as fodder for an OP broken villain.

Squad zero isn't weak. They just lost to people who are extremely over-powered. Even Kenpachi bankai, adult hitsuguya and byakuya couldn't beat Gerard. (Yes I know it's not full power) Zaraki is one of the special threats too. Squad zero is as strong as the gotei 13 or stronger, but the elites are even stronger. Lillie alone could probably beat the entire gotei 13, Gerard alone could also beat the entire gotei 13.

I think yama beated yhwach because scrifts or volstanding is not there yet, just the outdated quincy power up they have(THE ONE URYUU USES VS MAYURI)

This might be one of those things where the author had the character in their head for awhile and forgets that it isn't as epic to the reader as it is to them.

I dunno, I honestly think that they don't need to be very good at fighting, because they compensate their fighting skills with their other humongous contributions for the entire shinigami world.
So in truth they're a bunch of awesome and influential people in their own respective department.
The problem in their writing and what led them into a disappointing characters was that it was stated that they're "THE Royal Guards", "THE last line of defense to protect the Soul King", and that throwaway line about them being "Stronger than the whole 13 squad", so we expect that they're really good at fighting.
Kubo doesn't need to hype them in that way, because saying they have huge contributions and their inventions for the entire soul society is already awesome, he doesn't need to hype up their strength.

Ichibei put up a real fight against Yhwach and is the only one that I actually liked. If Yhwach wasn't so stupidly overpowered he would of been killed or stopped permanently at Ichibei.

Unohana could've been a part of that squad. She contributed big to Soul Society by inventing the art of killing and 8000 sword styles. Maybe she was invited but declined due to her being a Kenpachi.
Keep in mind she was the most diabolical criminal soul society ever witness, someone like her wouldn't be suited as the guardian of the soul king

I think Kubo just thought, what if Aizen fought for the shinigami, wouldn't that be cool? So he worked from there and had to create a character that needed to be stronger than Aizen after he fused with his zanpakuto and thr hougyoku. Also, the arc was Ishida focused, so the new bad had to be related to the Quiencies (with Rukia, Orihime and Sado having one arc focused around them).

Squad 0 is a good idea poorly implemented. Ichibei, Otesu, Kirio, Senjumara, Tenjiro have abilities that are pillar concepts to the soul society (Ichibei named everything, Otesu made zanpaktou, Senjumara made the cloths etc) that makes them revelatory to the foundation of the soul society and the whole Bleach story. They get off-screened by Yhwach's own version of "Squad Zero" while the lesser shinigami were the ones that stopped Yhwach...
They should of got their own arc, showing us how 0 squad founded the soul society with the Soul King. Wasted Potential.
Yea, but only ichibe was around before the sealing of the soul king. oetsu came a little bit after, then everyone else. Hell, Hikifune has only been in squad zero for a little over 115 years and is way younger than the others. Even Tenjiro is relatively young (the novel puts Ichibe at just over 1 million years old - far older than Yama even).

Oetsu Nimaiya is the creator of a zanpakuto named Asauchi, the nameless zanpakuto. He called himself as the best zanpakuto creator.
Which means, Asauchi is not the only way for shinigami to create zanpakuto.
The defeats of Zero Squad is the will of the Soul King bcoz after/before (cant remember) the arrival of Ichigo at the Soul King Palace, Ichibe had a meeting with the Soul King.
The soul king is dead. His torso and head simply exist but ichibei is really in charge.

ywach was the new soul king. similar to the former soul king who was basically the god of bleach universe. squad 0 are just body guards to soul king. basically ywach wipes the floor with them. thats just how op ywach is. he was aizen on god level. best believe gotei 13 couldnt touch him. with any luck, bleach continues and we get to see how hes defeated. quincies and soul reapers are on the same level. yhwach used them to wipe out soul society so he can just walk to the soul kings throne
Basically it felt as if the TYBW series was just rushed through and Kubo couldn't think of much to write about the fight between Zero squad and YWACH.
The only Zero squad that were good were Ichibe and Oetsu. Ichibe could have won but Yhwach's "The Almighty" skill awoke and just overpowered him with its BS.
Oetsu killed Gerard, Lille, Pernida and Askin (with help) before they knew what happened and they were no joke powered up or not, guys a beast.
Rest of Zero squad were pretty uesless in the fights and did nothing of note or value but get bodied. Maybe they could do more but we never saw it, just the aftermath.
