I am loving the Bronx little Italy 🇮🇹 . To have 5 generations Ann & Tony's restaurant is a testament of the American dream for their families who came for a better life . Wonderful to see 👏 AK .

That pretty musical sound you hear soon after you begin the video is the sound of the “Mr. Softee” Ice Cream truck! That, for me, was part the “soundtrack” of life growing up in The Bronx. The brick townhouses, the old 1950’s schoolyard-style metal fencing - that’s typical Bronx style. Older Italian American men sitting and talking together at cafes outside. It’s all still there. The vibe, still there. Still tugs you in the heart. If you haven’t been back in awhile - go! Especially during the day when the mom & pop shops are open. It’ll still tug at your heart. Manhattan’s Little Italy still has Di Palo’s Cheese Shop and the old Mare Chiaro Bar on Mulberry but it can’t give you that same comforting feeling. Not if you grew up spending time on Arthur Avenue.

@Action Kid I'm really happy you are in New York away from hurricane Ian, had so many tornado warning last night into the morning ,haven't slept yet. Had to take mom and myself into safe room. Glad you are not experiencing this... Have an extra bagel for me there...

Your friend is right about full moon pizza they used to have an aluminum wagon outside that serves slices, last time I ate a slice was in 1961 as an eight year old the best pizza I ever tasted in my life ✨🍕♥️🤗✨ now I live all the way out on Long Island near Port Jeff and the best pizza out here is Breeza pizza in the shopping center in wading River soon as you walk in from the parking lot it's the first store on the right hand side you can't miss it🍕❤️🤪✨👍🏻

But many of the shops and restaurants are still Italian owned and operated, most of the business owners are there full time. My guess is that most of them live in Westchester, perhaps.

Anytime you're behind women always stop and let them get at least a thousand feet away from you don't trail behind two women like that it sets a lot of negative energy from a whole different bunch of avenues that is just a quick tip for you because I see what you're doing and you're doing a great job I just thought I can give you a little bit of advice to ease the mind of people

Arthur Avenue was considered "Little Italy" where if you didn't live there or know someone you were "NOT" welcomed, so don't kid yourself. It was nothing like may be today, since l haven't been there in about 40 plus years. Houses didn't have gates "ANYWHERE" because the families that lived there knew each other by name, and if you didn't live there you didn't belong there. The houses didn't have chain leak fences or any other kind of fence since there were no crimes committed (unless among each other),and you had to be Italian to live there. Yes, there were few outsiders who would visit during the day and maybe eat or shop for pastries, but come dark you better get out or you would be asked where do you belong!

Yes, kinda. While only term “Little Italy” is used for this Bronx neighborhood (it’s also called Belmont) and the one in Lower Manhattan, there are many Italian neighborhoods within Brooklyn, Queens & Staten Island. 🇮🇹
