Just like many other large cities around the world, one can usually find a very property stricken area. I appreciate you taking us here, and showing us around. Most travelers would not consider going here, much less even know about it. Generally people are friendly, but it seems to me that you’ll notice poor people will be more outgoing and friendly, than those who are rich, and live in their castles on top of the hill. Kudos to you for giving that gentleman a couple of dollars. Not a lot of money to you, but possibly a meal for someone who has not eaten. You’re a rockstar! 🙏😁👏

In Vietnam, there is a gap between the rich and the poor, but the government does not allow the existence of slums or extremely poor and dangerous areas like in Indonesia or Thailand. I have never seen a place in Vietnam where I felt in danger, even in the most crime-ridden areas of District 4, Ho Chi Minh City. If you don’t harm them and treat them kindly, they will treat you kindly in return

Cultivating is low income compare to other jobs so most the farmer abandon their land( because of no tax ) Only fews who cannot find good jobs or some whose hobby are planting are still work on this area

Join Vietnamese people in events and have fun there. Because Vietnamese people like to monitor feelings and please as much as possible (especially foreigners), the clearer your opinion, the better, and state your feelings as much as possible.
In particular, Vietnamese people are especially patriotic, so you are lucky to have the opportunity to participate in many events that show Vietnamese pride. If possible, please visit Con Dao prison once.

People from other places have come there and opened so-called " traditional businesses " . The same thing has happened in Sapa and Da Lat in recent years. But hey, as long as the true locals also benefit it's okay. If you prefer a rough taste, strongly recommend staying in mountainous villages in the upper north, like Ha Giang or Lao Cai. They are becoming touristy fast too, but they still retain some authenticity

Hello. Your video is great and thank you for visiting my country!
However, there is a little mistake, the area you visited is not a slum or a crime area (so you see, it is very safe and people are very comfortable).
There are poor families living here, but many of the houses you filmed are temporary houses for them to work nearby (farm, transport...).
As for the guy under the bridge, I can't say for sure but I'm pretty sure he is not homeless. (He is poor, of course, but the homeless people in our area have a different appearance). Many people from other provinces come here to work during the day and they choose to stay temporarily like that.
Of course in Hanoi there are "real" slums, and also areas with a lot of crime, but I won't tell you :) Travel safely

Hello, thank you so much for your comment and for sharing that interesting information. Normally, I’d be asking you for recommendations in Hanoi, but since I’ve already left, I’d really appreciate it if you could share some off-the-beaten-path locations in Ho Chi Minh City instead. @@HomelessPelican Have fun exploring HCM city! Unfortunately, I can't recommend any special places in that city, I live in Hanoi.
Regarding traveling, for international friends who come to my country, if they want to feel the local vibes, I often advise them to stay away from the big cities. (Our country is in a period of rapid development and the big cities with many people do not represent our personality and nature).
If possible, I hope you visit the northern mountains (Ha Giang, Cao Bang). Or if you like the sea, follow the coast from Phu Yen to Quang Nam (don't go to Nha Trang, Da Nang - places that have focused too much on tourism).
A small tip: take the initiative to start a conversation. You are very friendly and charming. People in the small provinces I mentioned are very enthusiastic and always ready to help, but they are afraid to ask you (the main barrier is language). I once had a whole village help pull a car out of quicksand. I have been invited by ethnic people to eat, drink and stay. It was not for money.

The boy. I see that boy is young.
When you say I feel sorry for the boy what do you really mean by that.
Do you feel sorry for the boy
Or do you feel that the boy needs to get out there and work so that he can have a good future.
Sorry I just want to know what you really mean when you say "I feel sorry for the boy"

I feel sorry for him and the situation he has found himself in. We all have different stories and circumstances, and we don’t know his. In my own life, I’ve faced many difficult moments. I lost everything I loved-precious people, life I planned, career and dreams. But somehow, I didn’t give up, and I’m still here. We don’t know what led him to this point. Perhaps he lacked opportunities, support, or even someone to turn to. That’s incredibly sad. Still, as long as he’s alive, there’s always hope. I truly wish him the best ♥️♥️♥️

@@HomelessPelican Maybe you should change it in the subtitle as well. I am a local and I was confused when you say the name of the bridge. The subtitle tells me you were saying "Cao Lãnh" so I just wanted to correct.

@@HomelessPelican Did you get a 2-month visa? That means you'll be in Vietnam during Tet. If possible, try to befriend a Vietnamese person who is close enough to invite you to celebrate Tet with them; it will be extremely fun and special.
