Same, I watched this film many times as a child on DVD along with the other Scooby Doo movie collections that my grandfather bought me for Christmas as a kid.☺️✨🔥💕
The reason Fred, Daphne and Velma aren't in this movie is due to this movie being made during what the fans dub "The Ellusive Red Shirt Shaggy Era" in the 80s. Scooby was on the decline so the studio behind them tried a lot of methods to reinvent the series, first they introduced Scrappy, then had Shaggy and Scooby out on their own for a while and then they turned the gang into kids. These movies take place during the second reinvention, where Shaggy, Scooby and Scrappy were on their own and getting into hijinks that were only sometimes mysteries. Daphne also joined them for one series and it is implied that she and Shaggy were dating. A lot of cult classics came out during this time, such as a trio of movies, of which this was a part of and "The Thirteen Ghosts of Scooby Doo!" series. You should really check that series out as well as the successor "A Pup Named Scooby Doo!"
@@reptile1687 Yes, that is indeed the "one series" listed above. There was also a series before that that didn't have Daphne and a series after that where they were all kids. Then the franchise went on a hiatus until Zombie Island.
@@reptile1687 Yes, the hiatus in question. There was like a decade between the end of A Pup's run and the release of Zombie Island without any new Scooby Doo! stuff and the only thing that was keeping the franchise alive was reruns on CN/Boomerang. Zombie Island reignited interest in the series, was followed up by 3 more animated movies, 2 live action and a technically "sequel" series in What's New? Scooby Doo! where the gang were all young adults rather than teens. Also, we don't talk about Return to Zombie Island. It didn't happen.
I think reasons why the rest of the gang was left out was maybe because scrappy has their qualities like: brains-Velma, fearlessness and goal to stop the villains-Fred, danger prone-Daphne Honestly it could be a whole nother reason but that’s just what I think

Phanty making a composition for her father was an obvious callback/nod to the Andrew Lloyd Weber stage musical _Phantom of the Opera_ & its ensuing film adaptation, since before it was a musical, _The Phantom of the Opera_ was just another horror movie monster for Universal Studios that was portrayed by "The Man of a 1,000 Faces" Lon Chaney Sr. (his son, Lon Chaney Jr., portrayed The Wolfman/Lawrence "Larry" Talbot in 1940).

Yep. Sadly, the last time she reprised Phanty was shortly before her death. R.I.P Russi Taylor. And also the voice of werewolf Winnie sadly passed away before the 1988 movie even released, so she had to get a new voice actress.
At this point in 1988 Scooby had been on TV for nearly 20 years and 10 years into this period Scooby’s ratings were declining so they added Scrappy to the gang in 1979 then they decided to focus on the hijinks of Shaggy, Scooby, and Scrappy-Doo and they just dropped Fred and Velma altogether and Daphne eventually came back and then left again. Part of the producers revamping Scooby-Doo for the 80s was getting into what was popular at the time in pop culture. In movies, there were films like Ghostbusters, Nightmare On Elm, Halloween, not to mention the Stephen King stuff. Musically you had stuff from Ray Parker Jr. (The Ghostbusters Guy), Rockwell (Somebody’s Watching Me), and of course Michael Jackson with Thriller.
