This movie was so underrated, I remember I watched it on Cartoon Network one time and I loved it so much, I just wish the movie made more money at the box office back in 2002. I’ve gone back and rewatched a few episodes of the show on Netflix, it still holds up today.
Craig believes the film failed because many boys were afraid to ask their parents to go watch the film without being judged for watching a “girls” movie, so it affected its performance for majority of the audience that enjoyed the show.
Apparently this film is an origin story on how The PowerPuff Girls were created before they became the protectors of Townsville. Lastly starting with the movie onwards Seasons 5-6 also adopted the Movie’s artstyle in the character designs which would explain why Blossom, Bubbles, and Buttercup along with several characters including the Mayor and Mojo JoJo look similar to their movie designs.
This movie is underrated. I had no idea it existed until I was an adult, and I loved it but when I went to see what others thought, apparently it gets mixed-to-negative reviews D: Can't wait for you to get to the Dexter's Lab movie. That one I did see as a kid and I still rewatch it to this day XD
I legit ADORED this movie as a kid. I never saw the cartoon, as we didn't have many channels on T.V. I loved that it took itself a little seriously, as it made me feel like I was watching a somewhat mature movie. I still love rewatching it to this day.
22:32 in this new animation at night in the rain, from a new perspective the gang green gang actually look more sinister, about to bully 3 innocent little girls
I can’t imagine how the girls felt when the one human who still cared for them said, “I don’t who to believe. I thought you were good.” 😔 They didn’t know any better and when it came to that first day of school, they were literally born yesterday.
Technically the day before yesterday. To be fair, if the deleted scenes actually mean anything, he had believed that they were good girls, and were not doing the things that news reports from worldwide had stated they were. The girls' revealing to him that their "special surprise" would help "make Townsville a better place" (and only telling him on the day that it would happen), only to be met with total shock that Mojo Jojo used them to be able to take over the city, combined with the Professor being shocked at what his Girls' good intentions had led to, at that point, what is the Professor supposed to believe? He just found that everything the news reports said about the Girls' actions was true, and he had been deluding himself because he was under the belief that they were perfect girls, and was kept in the dark from their intentions until the day they all found out the truth.
I’m glad I randomly stumbled across this channel. Seeing others experience the great cartoons and other shows I grew up watching, and the genuine, funny reactions? Very entertaining content. I personally liked this origin story. I feel like it’s been long enough where people can appreciate this movie. Even if it was a flop commercially.
Also other fun fact: if you look closely to when the Powerpuff girls lost their self esteem by watching the news you can see Master Shake, Frylock & Meatwad from Aqua Teen Hunger Force at one of the TV screens
I missed watching my childhood movie. The Powerpuff Girls are the best superheroes that are full of love. That's What Girls Do is my favorite song 🎵🎵🎵🦸♀️🦸♀️🦸♀️💖💙💚
This reaction was the highlight of my day. So incredibly glad you guys finally got to see this. It was awesome getting to rewatch it again with you guys and seeing how much you enjoyed it.
This takes me back this movie made me feel actual emotions for this show rather than just the usual good guys beating bad guys happiness this made it clear the people in townsville are not just the one dimensional fools like the show showed us back in the day before the movie came out.
This movie is on the same tier as the big picture show & secret of the omnitrix 🔥 it was great seeing the origin of the PPG & their first fight with Mojo was one of the best in the entire show 👏🏼
I personally think this is a decent origin story for both the girls, and their greatest enemy, Mojo Jojo. It can be a messy at times, but it's all worth it for that insane third act.
I still remember my mom taking me to see this in the cinema when I was 6. The most iconic part for me was when Mojo’s army revolted against him and did their own things.
Jason: Let's go! Powerpuff Girls! Y'all been waiting for this! Chance: Enough of that. ⏩️ Jason: Uh, Chance, what are you doing? Chance: I'm fast forwarding to the part where the Mayor beats Fuzzy up. Jason: You can't go out of order! Chance: ▶️ Au contraire, my most seen pal, I've got the remote. Jason: But everyone's gonna get confused! We gotta go back to the beginning of the story. ⏪️ Chance: They're not _in_ the beginning of the story! ⏩️ Jason: Yes, they were, the whole time! ⏪️ Chance: Yeah, but people don't know that! ⏩️ Jason: Then why don't we tell them their story? ⏸️ [Cat monster scares Bubbles and Buttercup made them jump scare] Both: AAAAAAAAHHHH!!!! 😱😱 Chance: Hey, I've got an idea. Why don't we tell them their story? Jason: Ooh, I love the sound of that! Chance: A little backstage tour. Take 'em behind the scenes for a revealing an intimate look of the story within a story. Jason: 'Cause what they don't know is how the girls really were there, even though they didn't know they were there, y'know? Chance: Couldn't have said it better myself. ⏪️ Jason: So does this mean we're going back to the beginning? Chance: Oh no, Jason, no. We're going way back to before the beginning…
Fun fact: Creator Craig McCraken stated that due to the politics of the film’s production, he decided to stick with television instead of moving to films like Genndy tartakovsky. It was a lot of stress on him. But when comes to the powerpuff girls movie, I thought it was ok. There are some things i enjoy like the action, the darker tone, and I really love how Mojo this is at his most evil here. He a lot more serious and threatening as an evil genius but still kept the same charm of him from his motor mouth and egotistical moments that are hilarious. But with that it’s just extended episode of the series. The story is a predictable origin story. The animation doesn’t translate to feature film and the characters are all one dimensional. But I do like the Easter eggs of other films like Fuzzy lumpkins and the gang green gang but one character that felt would’ve been interesting to see is actually, HIM. It would’ve been interesting to see how the girls first encounter him. But I give the movie a 6/10. It’s fine for what it was going for but Cartoon Network made better movies than this and ironically they were made for television like Ed Edd n Eddy big picture show or Steven universe the movie.
It would have been very good if they could have made a Powerpuff girls movie of how they met Him for the first time. Because we know how the girls met Mojo for the first time.
Fun fact: in Mojo's King Kong moment, when he swipes the side of the building to reveal the citizens and says, "AND WHY? FOR THEM?!" the citizens are illustrated versions of the crew that worked on the movie.
It’s basically professor utonium in a kimono, you know now that I think about it, it’s a shame we never had resolved conclusion of the biggest mystery of samurai jack
Fun fact: DC Comics would release a comic series about The Powerpuff Girls 2 years later. In issue 50 called "Deja View" it was about the girls arriving in an alternate dimension of their world where everything is upside down, where evil versions of them live there called The Powerpunk Girls. This story was originally going to be an episode but due to all the work put into this movie it was decided to be canceled and turned into a comic.
Fun Fact: This was for a very long time the only Cartoon Network movie to be released in Theaters. It's not till Teen Titans Go to the movies to have a Cartoon Network movie to be released in Theaters
The sad thing is this was a great movie but because of how badly it did at the box office the spinless cowards in charge of Cartoon Network cancelled a whole group of movies based on their hit shows before they even had a chance to be made how pathetic.
This is one hundred percent canon! This was supposed to be watched after you saw the young professor time travel episode. It helps showcase the timeloop by after that episode you jump into the movie and then continue season 4 all the way to the end. Now the new season at 5 will be this animation.
The one continuity error that always gets me about the powerpuff girl origin story... When the professor gets pushed into the vial and it breaks, wouldn't some of it got on his hands and mutated him as well?
And so, for the very first time, the day is saved thanks to the Powerpuff Girls! If you're not watching Foster's now, can you react Wander Over Yonder?

It’s sad Cartoon Network didn’t made any theatrical releases since the failure of the Powerpuff Girls movie besides the Teen titans go movie.
