1:57 it was definitely out of greed, Japan didn’t NEED to go to war, they chose to. You even admitted the expansion was for material to contribute to the war effort. It’s almost like explaining every little detail about a war as massive as ww2 in a short TH-cam video will extend it to a multi hour long endeavor, which is likely why Oversimplified chose not to cover details like this. Especially since it’s a comedic video, and saying “they wanted to join the war bus” is objectively a lot funnier than saying “they needed more material to commit a proper genocide.”
No Japan had to attack the US. They had no choice because the the Kwantung estimated that due to oil embargo, they would be unable to fuel themselves and they would lose the war on China and their economy would get crushed within 6 months. If they hadn't attacked USA they would have been crippled.
Yea otherwise why would they go to war against the USA if they only wanted to pay them back? 😭 They got too greedy after they realized getting resources felt good
I actually learnt that Japan joined the war and started to expand their colonial empire because they were threatened and looked down on by the western empires. It was basically a “kill or be killed” mindset in a way.
He also forgot to talk about the Romanian Oil fields that supplied 1/3 of Germany's oil, and how Romania turning sides shortened the war by 6 months and completely collapsed the Balkan front.
And the entire video he doesnt mention resistance fighters at all. "The Soviet Union took Warsaw" is all he says about the "liberation" of Poland, as if the Warsaw Uprising wasnt the biggest armed resistance movement in WW2 History.
“Brave resistance movements rose up in defiance of their invaders, while the people held out for hope” Just to say, I don’t think he can fit everything into a 1 hour video, so at least think for a moment lol?
Yeah, he could at least say "also, the Poles had an uprising, but it was gone in 2 months, and the Soviets refused to help the partisants", it literally takes like 8 seconds to say that...
@@Glad-plant23 he could have said something along the lines of "And as the soviets were approaching the Vistula, the Home Army in Poland begun an uprising. Although because of a lack of outside help, it fell quickly and then the Soviets moved into the city." Not that hard, lol?
I think one big History myth that popped up, not on oversimplified but one that I saw on extra history, part if Extra Credits channel. It said that the RAF was on the ropes and that the Luftwaffe was beating them, and if Hitler hadn't changed focus to civilian targets then the RAF wouldn't have the breathing room to repair. This is also one that I saw brought up on a video by Possible History debunking one persons way of having Germany win ww2, one of the things done being not refocusing on civilian targets. But what you have to understand is that Britain had the home field advantage, a British Pilot gets shot down and they can land in friendly territory, the Germans can't do the same, each pilot shot down is a pilot lost but not for the Brits. And if you look up a chart of German air losses vs British air losses you can see the Germans were taking unsustainable casualties even before the Blitz on London and refocusing on London was an attempt to lesson their losses but it failed.
The Germans were never going to take the UK. The UK was just very concerned due to what happened in northern France and Belgium. The German navy was not good enough for shore invasions, let alone the variety needed to invade the UK.
I hated that oxi day was only mentioned for 2 seconds. It was crucial for the allies to win the war. Greece was super underrated in the war and was a key piece of the allies.
I would love for him to remake some of his older videos. Nowadays he makes like two 40 minute videos about wars that the average person hasn’t even heard of
He did mention Japan in the start of the other video. He mentioned that America and Britain screwed over the Japenese economy and they needed resources
you should also see this through their perspective (im not tryna justify their wars lol) they think that surrendering is not swag and they should die for the emporer what less would you expect from this kinda of society?
Are people not watching the video?? I keep seeing comments of “it’s called Oversimplified” that totally ignore the point of the video. It’s not that his videos on WW1 and WW2 lack detail in general, it’s that they don’t go into depth on the really important things that are actually crucial for understanding these events as a whole.
Yes, but I would say that is not something they "got wrong" in that the information is not "wrong" or whatever, but lacking. Surely, that video can't be a source to "understand" WW2 as a whole. But if I want to truly "understand" these events, 2 15 minute videos are never going to be enough anyway, I would have to dedicate many hours at the very least. I really like the WW2 week by week series for that purpose for example, it is actually detailed, but it also has 300+ episodes each being some 10-15 minutes long. So you get the idea, more time, more understanding. Those Oversimplified videos would maybe work as a starting point for someone who does not have any idea on these at all, then a person can do more detailed research on their own.
but the guy didn't want to cover everything of WW2. He just focused on more important things and he is irish and american so ofc he will focus more on west than USSR.
His video back then wasn’t detailed because he was still learning events, but he can’t redo it because ya know he already has a ww1 and ww2 video, but his details and videos are starting to improve with more details and also more long term videos
Yeah I kinda don’t like the claim that Japan had no choice but to expand in the south. They could always make peace with China and quit their expansionist plans at any time. In fact if they did that Japan might still be a powerful country in its own right today. Japan is no victim in WW2.
@@dingo1547I’m just going to say, there is an aspect that is often missed out which makes the war in the pacific very misleading. The aspect in question is that the war in China and the invasion of Manchuria was started by the Japanese military without orders from the government (in the Manchuria railway incident and the peking bridge incident, I think it’s called). These were acts of terrorism that the army carried out and blamed on the Chinese without orders from the government, which was an excuse to expand. Now if you are wondering why Japan didn’t just tell the world that they had lost control or tried to crack down on the agitators in the army, I have some reasons for that: 1) Japan was in a very vulnerable state at the time, specifically because of rivalries and contention between them and the US and USSR. Therefore admitting to the world that they had no control would had put Japan in an extremely dangerous position (this is why Japan just outright left the League of Nations when they invaded Manchuria, and also why their government was perceived as extremely untrustworthy as the government and diplomats were working against the millitary, hence the huge contradictions) 2) there was an overwhelming threat of assassination in Japan at the time, to people from the prime ministers (one of them was actually shot before the war) and Hirohito himself. In addition to Japans constitution giving the army almost complete autonomy, it meant that the civilian government cabinet had their hands tied (if you call this cowardly of them, I would understand where you are coming from) These points also explains kinda how Japanese society and civilian government became even more militaristic, as the further the millitary arbitrarily plunged Japan into an endless quagmire, the more the civilian government and society were forced to adapt to and prepare for the inevitable consequences of the millitarys actions. If you’re curious as well, this is a part of why unlike in Germany, taking responsibility for the war in the pacific is very controversial in Japan. I hope this helps
1:43 dude, don't scare me like that! I literally have doors to my room on my right side, so hearing that knocking in my right headphone really got me! 🤣🤣🤣
You pretty much nailed the perfect thesis on why History is a complicated subject. The more you nitpick the more you find, you can be stuck in an endless hole.
Sure there’s stuff off but it’s a really good start. This is the video that got me interested in WW2 to begin with leading to me doing tons of further research.
He only mentioned that they needed resources from south east asia. He never talked about how it was the american blockade which caused them to lack in their resoures.
@@businessmanbrute2211Didn't they need resources even before the Americans cut them off? I mean that's kind of why they warred China as aforementioned in the pre-war minutes during the Sino-Japanese war
@@SethAtSNK You are saying it yourself that they warred china because they needed resources. How does them warring china tell me why they attacked pearl habour? That is completly unrelated to my comment. Infact, their oil exports mainly didn't come from china so that arguement itself is wrong aside from also being unrelated to my comment.
@@businessmanbrute2211 Actually it was related, and actually it does tell you why they attacked Pearl Harbor. The Japanese attacked the Chinese for resources considering they lacked, something that the Americans didn't cause their lack of resources because it was actually their geography that did. They needed the resources from SEA after the Americans DID commence their blockade, which did not cause a lack in their resources but caused their war effort to stagnate. Most of their oil exports did however come from America, but the lack of oil only caused their stocks to plummet in numbers, in which they did NOT lack resources however needed alternatives to them hence leading to the Southeast Asian campaign, this is however disregarding the fact that they were imperialistically ambitious. This elaborates how your counter-argument not only lacks critical thinking (a necessity in an argument), it also lacks a proper standpoint.
@SethAtSNK Dude, why the fuck are you telling me how the change in availability of certain resources change their war efforts? That is not what I am talking about. I was saying he failed to reason why the japanese attacked pearl habour and you are telling me why they attacked china and what happened before the blockade, Are you seriously high? Yes, there wasn't an actual lack of resources, did oversimplfied say that they had to find alternatives to the resources they got from usa hence, they attacked pearl habour? No. Then why bother telling me? All you did is reword and cherry pick some details in my comment and give me context of things that happened years before that as if it was neccessary to include obvious context.
I keep seeing people saying "but his channel name!!! oh gee whillikers your so dumb!! how could you not see???" The entire point of the video is that even considering the fact its meant to be Oversimplified, his videos on WW2 do not display an accurate view of the Second World War even at a basic level. Yaps at length about a ship that was literally never built and leaves out numerous important events so we can hear about pykrete lmao. He also makes numerous easily avoidable mistakes and talks at length about topics that don't deserve the time while shunning ones that do, like none of this can be attributed to the 'Oversimplified' format, its just bad representation lol. It's contributing to an incorrect and sanitized view of history that spreads myths that people will then repeat online. Take his Punic Wars videos as examples of how he's improved, they do a much, much better job of having a balanced view of history, that's still somewhat accurate as an introduction. His WW2 videos are just completely unsubstantial, and I don't think its insane to literally just say "this could be a lot better" without having 20000 people complain about how they're meant to be that way.
Thank you. You hit the nail on the head. So many people just write, “but it’s oversimplified for a reason” without even watching the video, even though that line of reasoning gets addressed later down the line.

To be fair, even though it is his most popular, the WW2 video is still a very old video of his, back when he hadn’t quite found his footing yet. If this video was uploaded today, these oversights would’ve definitely not happened, considering how he handles current videos. I do agree that these are oversights, though. Plus, from two videos combined, each lasting about 13 minutes, having a video explaining the oversights be only 3 minutes long is probably a good sign.
I mean not really. He explained more than you would learn in a history class in two 15 minute videos. If he put in every detail he might as well change his name from Oversimplified to Overlydetailed
Just to get this out of the way this is not a hate comment to Oversimplified. I love his channel and the content he provides. @@HistoryNow08 I think the argument is that "they didn't have a choice" as you said it implies they were forced by the US out of the blue, whereas the reality is Japan being involved in a genocidal offensive war against China. I mean, yes, it was never going to happen, but that is Japan's own fault anyway. Also about the "implying they did it out of greed rather than necessity" part, well, connecting with the above, yes they kind of did it out of greed? I mean, invading China multiple times and murdering tens of millions of Chinese during that was very much "greed" (along with fascism and all that) on their part. So the implication of what you said there is kinda... well, not good and correct. If we are going even less simplified one could (and maybe should!) talk about the entire prelude to this, about Western and Japanese colonialism in the Pacific prior to WW2 and already existing Japanese plans to invade and occupy the "southern resource area", and here we kinda run into that main problem of "accuracy versus time", you can almost always be more accurate. How much detail versus how much time to be spent on the subject...
I understand your point (especially towards getting japans actual motive and not including the battle of Kursk) But it still gets the main point done, and Japan was mentioned with how they have to get raw materials and not purely out of greed.
He really doesn't mention or in other words skipped the entirety of the papa new guinea campaign, it was one of the longest and most brutal campaigns in all conflicts involving allied forces and Japanese forces
Yea it’s literally called oversimplified the videos are meant to be simple so anyone can understand them if you want a more detailed summary of what happened you can go watch another 3 hour long documentary but these videos are meant to be quick and just go over the major points of what happened
Just to give you an idea here: Out of the two Yugoslav resistance groups, the Partisans alone were such a problem that Germany had to send over one hundred thousand soldiers to deal with them, and it still wasn't enough!
I think the first one is the biggest issue. We owe such a massive debt to the people of Eastern and South Eastern Europe who fought for freedom from fascism.
I love Oversimplified and I do have some critiques of him too but you also got to understand his videos are more comedic than they are educational, more focused on introducing the viewer through a rough summary of events than explaining fully the history.
If the video was made today, it would most likely be a lot better since his ww2 vids took up around 30 mins total, while his newer vids are usually 40 mins- over an hour when combined
There's a difference between 'oversimplifying' things and spreading straight misinformation, like how the Nazis lost in Russia "because of the winter". In reality it had nothing to do with the winter and everything to do with German supply lines being overstretched, their lack of oil and equipment, and a staunch Soviet defense that prevented rapid gains again. His older videos, aside from that, are actually his best. His newer content is just packed with unfunny and forced jokes that were funny maybe 5 years ago but just aren't now.
Could it also possibly be that their supplies were overstretched, roads were clogged with snow which forced constant Winterketten applying and the myriad of supply issues that come with *winter* also maybe bogged the German advance? Stating it had nothing to do with winter is an overstatement, no?
Winter's effect on German supply is definitvely overplayed, honestly autumn and spring are probably worse when you try to move supplies by road. And on that last bit I agree, the last few videos just aren't funny, maybe my humour has changed or the humour of Oversimplified has.
And also the fact they were rushed too. The Soviet and German pact was always tense with no real friendship. While the Germans were fighting the brits, the longer the british were dragging the war the more anxious they would get about the Soviet Union stabbing them in the back, so it was basically ‘attack or get attacked’. Still turned out to be the biggest invasion, though.
@@Trooper-d2tno, actually, winter is a blessing after autumn's rasputitsa, because at the very least you can actually walk on the ground instead of drowning in the mud. That's what germans themselves though in 1941 as well. However it wasn't just overstretched supply lines - they also took a lot of casualties and were exhausted (this is why Red Army was able to go on the offensive after the battle for Moscow). The weather only further exacerbated already present issues. Also keep in mind soviets had to fight in the same conditions and deal with the same cold and mud.
That's a lie. For one, soviet forces had been fighting nonstop for months at this point and were exhausted. How were they supposed to take a large well fortified city in this condition? Secondly, they did try to help by opening up two bridgeheads on the western bank, sending supplies and establishing radio contact (the radio operator in question is a great source of insight for what was happening in the city), but suffered heavy losses and were pushed back first on the east bank, then 20 (If I recall correctly) km away from the city. It's only when new reinforcements arrived and supply chains were re-established were they able to attack proper. And thirdly, if you want someone to blame, blame brits and polish government in exile who started this uprising with terrible organisation purely for political reasons. And I mean terrible - there were no coordination, no clear goals, not even weapons for everyone. Meanwhile germans had just sent extra forces to defend the city and were able to easily massacre rioters. What was the point in choosing such a terrible timing? It costed dearly both poles and soviet people likewise.
as i learned more about history from various things i kept going back to to a bunch of oversimplified videos and the entire history of the world, i guess
The latest video are way less oversimplified. Has good humor, good animation and he takes time to explain context etc. I'd say after years the historical value and added value compared to classical documentaries has vastly increased
So basically he oversimplified the war history. Which from what I can gather is the gimmick of his channel… Why is it that almost all critique of Oversimplified is him literally oversimplifying actual wars and moments in history? Like there are valid critiques to be had about his videos, such as him not accurately representing history. Take for example the French Revolution video spreads the commonly spread falsehood of Marie Antoinette saying “Let them eat Cake” that was always propaganda spread by the Revolutionaries but Oversimplified still out it in as a joke, and the problem is this can paint history in a light that is not good.
I mean, I wouldn't say they got anything "wrong", in that they (as you have already pointed out) missed a lot of things, but not really said anything wrong IMO. And the missing part can be explained by it being oversimplified. It is supposed to be a somewhat funny entry thing, not an accurate history. If I want the latter, I will (as I already have haha) watch World War Two channel's WW2 Week-by-week series, now THAT is very in detail.
Thanks for making a video on this, its been a personal gripe of mine for a while. Like yeah the videos are supposed to be oversimplified, but he acts as if all of the major military decisions made by the Axis during the war were done purely out of ideological fevor, which is ridiculous.
I think that his whole brand of "oversimplified" really kinda negates all of this. Yes he doesn't go into minor details about everything but thats kinda the point. Its supposed to go into broad strokes of history and not every single battle. Sure if he remade the video it could be better but at that point i feel like it'd lose its charm of being oversimplified. Things like the Yugoslavs, some battles on the eastern front, and economic choices of the US don't really matter for an "oversimplified" view of WWII. Saying japan merely wanted to expand and get in on all the victory isn't entirely inaccurate but its not totally accurate either, which is again the whole point.
To counter your point about Japan being cut off from resources, and thus it wasn’t greed, their war in China was a greedy imperialist war, and invading even more countries to sustain an imperialist war is just an extension of greed. Which is why they got cut off from resources in the first place
U ain't wrong history guy even for myself I knew oversimplifed did miss some part of the history side of ww2 but sometimes it can be due to TH-cam restrictions on how long u can make ur videos too u know but I get where ur coming from dude ❤👍🏼
The Chinese civil war had ended by the time of the Sino-japanese war as Chiang was kidnapped by his High Command and forced to end the war and form the United Front. This made the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army transition into the 8th Route Army (northern China e.g., Yan'an and Heibei) and the New Fourth Army (southern China e.g., Guangxi and Guangdong) which very much contributed to the Kuomintang being able to hold off against the IJA in the first place, especially considering how well equipped the CPC non-militia/peasant forces were with assault weapons. It's also worth noting that the Kuomintang had a fairly well equipped central army (bar many warlord or personal armies especially from Sichuan) due to Germany supplying it with stockpiles of military goods and Soviet tank shipments which were sent to the 5th army.
you have to understand that this overview of WW2 isn't supposed to be specific like talking about partisans or Soviet operations. Oversimplified's old videos were, like you said, usable in a classroom. An American High School history class, unless the class is specifically a WW2 history class, will not go into depth on anything that wasn't a major event like Stalingrad or Operation Barbarossa. If the Americans did not participate, it won't be taught in great detail. In no classroom will Yugoslavian partisans be talked about. The fact that Czech partisans assassinated the only high ranking N@zi in the whole war won't be talked about either. An oversimplified version of WW2 covers what is important for the average American person to know, not anyone who cares more than the education system about the war.
That was a great video! But it's not the only problems with Oversimplified's videos. He tends to propagate a lot of myths. For example, he talks about Blitzkrieg as a military strategy, which doesn't exist, or he says the French army was not ready for the war, which is false since the problems of the French army were the high command and big strategical blunders, and also a huge amount of bad luck. He also says the nazis wanted to conquer the word which is completely false, they didn't even want to conquer Western Europe or the balkans, this came with the war. They wanted to create a big colonial Empire in Eastern Europe, and enslave or deport all Slavic peoples.
He was talking about when they first invaded Korea and China in the early 1900s. I'm talking about after the Oil and Steel Embargo was placed on Japan by the United States.

Great video, especially good point on the Eastern Front because he basically skips everything from after Stalingrad up till Warsaw.
Yeah even with Warsaw he doesn’t even mention the uprising or anything
I would love for him to remake some of his older videos. Nowadays he makes like two 40 minute videos about wars that the average person hasn’t even heard of
He did mention Japan in the start of the other video. He mentioned that America and Britain screwed over the Japenese economy and they needed resources
the japanese shafted themselves when they CHOSE to invade china casuing the americans to say no more oil chumps
1:55 i mean, they could stop invading countries and commiting war crimes too, starting another war wasnt their only option
you should also see this through their perspective (im not tryna justify their wars lol)
they think that surrendering is not swag and they should die for the emporer
what less would you expect from this kinda of society?
This is a sad attempt at cancelling someone for clout. Nothing more
@jcbw9975 bro did you even read the original comment?
He doesnt go in depth into important things? Is it like his videos might be oversimplified?
I mean my school history books went into less detail than oversimplified
To be fair, if Oversimplified made a ww2 video today, it would be like 3 hours long
That's why it's called OVERsimplified
His video back then wasn’t detailed because he was still learning events, but he can’t redo it because ya know he already has a ww1 and ww2 video, but his details and videos are starting to improve with more details and also more long term videos
Impressive. Everything you just said was wrong.
@ Wdym?
You can't just make a claim like that and not elaborate @MyUsersDark
That's why its OVERsimplified, it's more an intro than an academic textbook.
“They sorta had no choice”
Japan shouldn’t have invaded China then, reap what you sow.
Didnt Japan invade China to get more resources?
Now if you are wondering why Japan didn’t just tell the world that they had lost control or tried to crack down on the agitators in the army, I have some reasons for that:
1) Japan was in a very vulnerable state at the time, specifically because of rivalries and contention between them and the US and USSR. Therefore admitting to the world that they had no control would had put Japan in an extremely dangerous position (this is why Japan just outright left the League of Nations when they invaded Manchuria, and also why their government was perceived as extremely untrustworthy as the government and diplomats were working against the millitary, hence the huge contradictions)
2) there was an overwhelming threat of assassination in Japan at the time, to people from the prime ministers (one of them was actually shot before the war) and Hirohito himself. In addition to Japans constitution giving the army almost complete autonomy, it meant that the civilian government cabinet had their hands tied (if you call this cowardly of them, I would understand where you are coming from)
These points also explains kinda how Japanese society and civilian government became even more militaristic, as the further the millitary arbitrarily plunged Japan into an endless quagmire, the more the civilian government and society were forced to adapt to and prepare for the inevitable consequences of the millitarys actions.
If you’re curious as well, this is a part of why unlike in Germany, taking responsibility for the war in the pacific is very controversial in Japan. I hope this helps
They had no choice from THEIR POV
@@toonlink1723 Thanks for sharing this information, I don't know much about Japanese history so this way really eye-opening.

Him and lavader are gonna cause a moral debate on the meaning of “oversimplified”
Its almost like its right infront of you, the answer why the videos are like that, is it possibly in his name?
You pretty much nailed the perfect thesis on why History is a complicated subject. The more you nitpick the more you find, you can be stuck in an endless hole.

thanks for pionting these errors out to me
Maybe Oversimplified could do a remastered series?
nope
He really should do a remaster on ww1 and 2
mr beat is like overimplified but without the animation and without leaving out major parts of information
Sure there’s stuff off but it’s a really good start. This is the video that got me interested in WW2 to begin with leading to me doing tons of further research.
So that was why he had not uploaded for a while
1:37 he did mention that tho
@@businessmanbrute2211
Actually it was related, and actually it does tell you why they attacked Pearl Harbor.
1:40 scared the crap out of me
Oversimplified helped get you interested in history? Then it did it’s job better than any in-depth history lecture despite the omissions.
Everyone hated on Lavader when he brought up a similar point, but now people "suddenly" starts supporting it now
True
Envy of someone else's success tends to do that...
I think that’s because redditors hate monarch bros
I don’t think anyone like him though considering he constantly simps for the kaiser
@One_step_above_is_here Considering everyone else vilified him to death, I welcome a fresh new perspective
I feel likened is improving
In his first videos he just gave a quick rundown but by now goes much more in detail
He gives more detail to the Pigs War than WWII
I like this argument because people say he's supposed to be "Oversimplified" but then there's this
So which one is it?
@@MyUsersDark I know this might sound shocking to some people, but over time people do in fact get better at making videos.
0:06 You just gave me an idea.
Oversimplified has been quiet since this video dropped
Oversimplified has been quiet for like a year now...
The channel is called oversimplified for a reason
It’s called oversimplified for a reas
of course, its OVER-simplified!
I watch Oversimplified for the comedy.
0:39 you had every opportunity to put an AK-47 here, why did you put a weapon made by the Belgians which was then adopted by the US?
They forgot even the Italian Civil War
To be fair, even though it is his most popular, the WW2 video is still a very old video of his, back when he hadn’t quite found his footing yet. If this video was uploaded today, these oversights would’ve definitely not happened, considering how he handles current videos. I do agree that these are oversights, though. Plus, from two videos combined, each lasting about 13 minutes, having a video explaining the oversights be only 3 minutes long is probably a good sign.
The pacing would probably be way worse now instead
I wouldn't say he got this "wrong" he just left this stuff out and it impacted the understanding of world war 2.
I mean not really. He explained more than you would learn in a history class in two 15 minute videos. If he put in every detail he might as well change his name from Oversimplified to Overlydetailed
@@Homelander_1 Yeah I can see your point and highly agreed but based on his punic wars he does have a lot of details
Just to get this out of the way this is not a hate comment to Oversimplified. I love his channel and the content he provides.

Japan did have a choice in relation to the embargo. The US demand was simply for Japan to withdraw from China
Yes, but realistically that was never going to happen
@@HistoryNow08Yeah, that's why America had to declare war on Japan, to put a stop on Japanese Imperialism once and for all
All y’all who are complaining, you do realize that he can go into the video creator statistics and see that you only watched 4 seconds of the video 😂
I understand your point (especially towards getting japans actual motive and not including the battle of Kursk)
But it still gets the main point done, and Japan was mentioned with how they have to get raw materials and not purely out of greed.
Just to give you an idea here:
Out of the two Yugoslav resistance groups, the Partisans alone were such a problem that Germany had to send over one hundred thousand soldiers to deal with them, and it still wasn't enough!
I think the first one is the biggest issue. We owe such a massive debt to the people of Eastern and South Eastern Europe who fought for freedom from fascism.
This is your first and only video so far?! "We will watch your career with great interest"
Subbed
I love Oversimplified and I do have some critiques of him too but you also got to understand his videos are more comedic than they are educational, more focused on introducing the viewer through a rough summary of events than explaining fully the history.
Where did bro go he ain’t posted in like a year
For the one on japan, if i remembering correctly, he mentioned that earlier in pt 1 sorta
He's a good stepping stone to get into history but after that you need to diversify
It's almost like it's over-simpliflied
If the video was made today, it would most likely be a lot better since his ww2 vids took up around 30 mins total, while his newer vids are usually 40 mins- over an hour when combined
Tried to get here before the Oversimplified stans throw a hissy fit. Guess I was too late.
Im kinda sad he just said that "USSR liberated Warsaw"
Meanwhile USSR:
Watch over Vistula as the poles get massacred in the uprising
they wanted the uprising to fail to secure poland and remove any nationalist movements in preparation for the end of the war
@@kindlingking I still think he could've said a bit more
@@Yourlocalwordrobe yes, I agree with that too. However saying Red Army betrayed poles and deliberately just stood there and watched is a lie.
@@kindlingking What about Operation Burza and the soviets arresting multiple AK soldiers and officers
as i learned more about history from various things i kept going back to to a bunch of oversimplified videos and the entire history of the world, i guess
The latest video are way less oversimplified. Has good humor, good animation and he takes time to explain context etc. I'd say after years the historical value and added value compared to classical documentaries has vastly increased
So basically he oversimplified the war history.
Which from what I can gather is the gimmick of his channel…
Why is it that almost all critique of Oversimplified is him literally oversimplifying actual wars and moments in history? Like there are valid critiques to be had about his videos, such as him not accurately representing history. Take for example the French Revolution video spreads the commonly spread falsehood of Marie Antoinette saying “Let them eat Cake” that was always propaganda spread by the Revolutionaries but Oversimplified still out it in as a joke, and the problem is this can paint history in a light that is not good.
If you saying that you gonna rob the bank before robbing the bank, it doesnt make it better yk?

I mean, I wouldn't say they got anything "wrong", in that they (as you have already pointed out) missed a lot of things, but not really said anything wrong IMO. And the missing part can be explained by it being oversimplified. It is supposed to be a somewhat funny entry thing, not an accurate history. If I want the latter, I will (as I already have haha) watch World War Two channel's WW2 Week-by-week series, now THAT is very in detail.

I mean he complained that Oversimplified, oversimplified his videos
U ain't wrong history guy even for myself I knew oversimplifed did miss some part of the history side of ww2 but sometimes it can be
due to TH-cam restrictions on how long u can make ur videos too u know but I get where ur coming from dude ❤👍🏼
They wanted to create a big colonial Empire in Eastern Europe, and enslave or deport all Slavic peoples.
i think they still did want to conquer western europe, but he (hitler) saw the people there as "more pure" than the slavs of the east
He does talk about Japan's lack of resources though.
THAKN U FOR SPEAKING OUT
