      +melaniemartinezis anuglyb!tch Not always. Kat is immensely more talented than Love both vocally and musically. Love managed to manipulate many people to get her where she is today. It's no coincidence that her music became so generic after Kurt Cobain killed himself.

      +Cliff Trainor well Courtney has charisma and a rock star attitude, that's how she got where she is. Kat may be more vocally and musically talented but Courtney really has that rock star appeal. Like what Kat said "Courtney liked being famous, I liked playing music" obviously Kat's main purpose isn't to become famous, but clearly Courtney's was. what's so bad about that? Courtney knows how to get herself known and out there. you may think that babes in toyland / Kat should be more recognized, but you can't deny that Courtney has what it takes to become famous and recognized

      Billy Corgan? The fuck? Courtney is a nutcase but she and Erlandson wrote their monster hit album Live Through This. She was influenced by Kurt and maybe he helped her with some musical ideas, or maybe she stole a couple things from him, but that album was written by her and Eric Erlandson. It was not written by Cobain or Corgan for fuck's sake. And yes, Kat Bjelland is a better musician and singer and all around much cooler person.

    I adore Courtney but she is very much a braggart. I've always thought Courtney was ten times the lyricist that Kat was, though Kat can truly work her away around a guitar, which Courtney absolutely cannot. In spite of the petty disputes between them, I do think they truly love one another. I read an article from 2001 where Kat was quoted as saying that Courtney was her "soul sister" and that they would have a bond whether they spoke or not; the article also mentioned Courtney saying that she "hadn't spoken to Kat, but she wished she had." That tells me everything I need to know-they obviously care about one another in a way that siblings do, even if they don't get along all the time.

    Babes In Toyland did an awesome show in Seattle at the Backstage Theatre. Kat started out the show fierce as usual, breaking two strings on her guitar, and then calmly sitting down on stage while re-stringing her guitar. Lori told some jokes and then BAM, they were back in business. Caught up with her after the show and she signed a few things, punctuating her signature with a big lipstick kiss. I forgot what the opening band's name was. They were four New York guys with long, curly hair who kept lighting each others hair on fire. Burning hair was their gimmick, apparently. Great show, though...

      Wrong in my eyes, Courtney always loved to play music on stage, if you don't see all her passion and joy for her art I can't help you. I do respect when poeple think that Kat is better than her (I'm not agree with that but it's fine when others have a different opinion). But to say that she was only on stage to become famous and nothing else shows how less people really know about her and her goals in life. Just watch a few performances for example from the Celebrity skin era, her passion for music and her talent is not overlookable and you can FEEL her music.

      TheRichardD123 lol good question. A) It was the late 80's so it wasn't as expensive. B) Courtney was a stripper and strippers can make hundreds in a night C) Courtney had a trust fund of $500 a month from her grandmother. She paid for the flights and everything but the reality of the situation is Courtney was homeless and sleeping on friends floors. She didn't have rent to pay.

    anyone who knows anything about music knows 'babes in toyland' is 10 times better than 'hole', and the idea that 'hole' has destroyed 'babes in toyland' in record sales is devastating proof that notoriety sells more records than musical talent.

    • @kurdtcobain8294
      @kurdtcobain8294 8 ปีที่แล้ว +32

      anyone who knows anything about music knows that Hole is much more musically complex than Babes in Toyland. that doesn't make them better, but you can't say that babes in toyland is better than Hole because everyone has their own preferences. I personally like Babes in Toyland's style and Kat's voice is amazing, but almost all of their songs sound very similar. Hole is more musically complex and they tend to write with various styles, but Courtney's voice is clearly not the best but it can be appealing to some. Live Through This is iconic, and so is Fontanelle. but you can't say that one is better than the other, it doesn't work that way. that's all based on your own opinion and preferences.

    • @tomitstube
      @tomitstube 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      Kurdt Cobain courtney does have a good band (and i personally don't have anything against courtney at all) but the music is only as good as courtney, (she does have other talents) it's just not that good, very vanilla.

    • @kurdtcobain8294
      @kurdtcobain8294 8 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      ***** Eric Erlandson and Courtney Love collaborate on most of the riffs, Courtney writes all the lyrics. The reason why I commented is because you said that "notoriety sells more records than musical talent". Hole is not only Courtney Love; Eric Erlandson, Patty Schemel, and Kristen Pfaff (if we're talking about the Live Through This / Pretty on the Inside eras) all have much more musical talent than Courtney Love. If you look at both the Hole and Babes in Toyland riffs on paper side by side, there is a huge difference in what you could call beginner and intermediate if that makes sense. Not just in the guitar, but also in the drums and the bass guitar.

    • @krissisnow6964

      That’s not true. Kat has insisted over the last 30 years that CL stole her kinderwhore look, but she fails to let those who didn’t know already, they had a short lived band & they BOTH did the babydoll dresses, barrettes, bleach blonde and smeared red lipstick thing together .. love Kat but she’s been a shitty friend over the years. She’s naturally a really good musician but Courtney achieved the fame & fortune for other things than music and I truly believe Kat’s always been envious of it. She said she loves making music and Courtney loves being famous but I’m pretty certain that’s bc she wasn’t nearly as famous or wealthy. That would bother pretty much anyone deep inside 🤷🏼‍♀️

    Babes in Toyland is one of my favorite bands and Kat is a badass but she's being catty with giving fake compliments. Like "she was nice and vivacious but she couldn't play" or whatever it is that she said...she said that about Jennifer Finch too who went on to have a successful career with the band L7. Courtney learned how to play and also had an amazing natural scream so who cares if her ambition and creativity was aheard of her ability at the time. She still made shit happen.

      In another interview, Kat said that back then she didn't want to be in a band with experienced players. It worked.
